Istanbul Turkish and Greek Restaurant in Harrogate

Bland no flavour and the hot mezze TERRIBLE and greasy repeating on me all ready just not like I expected it to be I’ve had better in Leeds market

Starter was greasy chips were greasy the whole meal was flat and flavourless will not go again chicken nugget and chips nearly 8 pound

Warm, friendly, professional lovely decor and delicious food. Visited on Sunday night albeit a quiet night in Harrogate the pretty lights and appealing floral display outside 'Istanbul' drew us into this fantastic Turkish restaurant. The female server was so very attentive and charming. My husband, myself and our teenage daughter occupied a window seat. I ordered the kleftiko, my daughter had the 'chef's special' 'chicken idana lokma' (medallions of chicken wrapped in flatbread) Oh my gosh it was delicious, my husband the 'chicken iskender' (again 10/10) and my kleftiko was mouth-watering. The meat was so tender and tasty. The portions were large and plentiful - the server suggested half chips and half rice and also came with a salad accompanying the dishes and this again was very tasty. After the main course, the chef came out and introduced himself - a lovely guy - and even though we were quite full - he had made a complimentary warm baklava with a dollop of cream for us to share and this was delicious. We don't live in Harrogate but visit every few months and this is by far our new 'go-to' restaurant. The bill was very reasonable. Any excuse to return with our other two sons once they visit us. Highly recommended.

Great place to have dinner by yourself. They have nice and comfortable stalls to sit in. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a warm atmosphere. The menu has a lot of nice options. The service is super friendly and very attentive.

This is a hidden gem in Harrogate, delicious food, lovely staff, great decor and good value for money. I'd highly recommend the lamb chops...

My first time in this establishment. The initial service with drink order was very quick. The turkish sausage starter was spicy but nice. With the main, the lamb was nice but something was off. Not sure if it was the cheese or what. Something was just off. Maybe it was me. Overall service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and personable. First time but will not be my last. A definite recommed.

Perfect in every way for birthday celebration. Gorgeous food , excellent service and lovely quiet atmosphere, just as we like it. We'll recommended and will visit again.

Fantastic food and friendly staff who made our boys feel extra special on their birthday. We had the Istanbul mix for 4 which we all thoroughly enjoyed and there was plenty for everyone. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

All the food was incredible and the staff were so friendly and amazing. We went for my friends birthday and they made it so special. Two of my friends are vegetarian/ vegan and they had no issues ordering off the menu, we will definitely be back and telling all our friends and family to go.

This restaurant is stunning in every way- the decor, food and staff. We had booked for 2 at 6.30 on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, we were shown to a lovely little booth. There are a few booths and a lovely round table under a tree too. The restaurant makes you feel warm, welcome and comfortable. We ordered the meal for 2 and the dip platter was simply sublime - wow! The best we’ve ever tried! (We eat out alot and I’m fussy- this is how good they are!) the shared mixed grill was amazing so fresh, flavourful and varied in meats and types of grill. We each received a plate with bulgar and chips too. I was so full from the starter I couldn’t wear c loads but I’ve brought it home for tomorrow. We also brought our baklava home and I’ve just eaten it several hours later and equally high quality as everything. I can’t wait to return to this restaurant it’s really top quality and delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful too.

Lamb cutlets to die for 😋😋 and the staff great and attentive.

I must start by saying this was a Deliveroo and I did not attend the restaurant. The food was excellent and well worth the month, we had the Roka Mixed Grill which was really big and everything cooked perfectly, the Lamb Chops where to die for, really recommend these. Halloumi was "just Halloumi", nothing special but nice enough, the Babaganoush was outstanding as was the bread. Really nice food and I will definitively be visiting the restaurant

Delightfully friendly team! The food is the best we have ever had. Baclava the best in the whole UK, beautifully spiced with cardamom. The babaganoush was perfection, served with lovely fresh salad. Hummus was sublime and served with fabulous saffron bread. This is food as it is meant to be!

A warm, friendly restaurant. Front of house staff were very welcoming and attentive. The aroma of the BBQ as you approached the restaurant was a sign of things to come. From salads to moussaka to BBQ grills the food was fantastic and authentic. Wonderful finishing touch of complimentary baklava with the bill. a great overall experience.

Excellent meal and very friendly lady that served us. 8 of us dining, some of us had the same chicken dish and we were all happy with it one of our party had fish and one had lamb and said it was lovely.

On our first night in Harrogate we stopped here because the exterior was so beautiful. The food and the service was phenomenal. I cannot stress how fantastic and authentic the food tasted. The customer service was above and beyond. I would highly recommend stopping through here if you find yourself in Harrogate. Recommend the lamb and chicken ali nazik...as well as the baklava. ❤️

amazing food - very authentic and flavourful, staff couldn’t be any friendlier and was very helpful, made the whole experience soooo much better. we were served by dela who was extremely lovely and checked up on us at numerous times during the night. the chefs have an eye for detail as the food looked as good as it tasted!!!

Nice atmosphere lovely staff, food was a bit of a let down. Especially the red meat/ lamb seemed to have a really funny taste. Had ordered the mixed grill and didn't enjoy the lamb elements. I would ask management staff and chef to review the lamb used and seasoning, having had turkish food multiple times in Turkey and across the UK this was not the best experience would hope they can improve on this

Decent restaurant, the people who are struggling with English and there first language is Persian it is good place. Many of the restaurant employees speak Persian.

Came to Harrogate for a couple of days away for my birthday. Googled places to eat and came across Istanbul Bar & Grill. Fantastic food, plenty food & drink options, good atmosphere, excellent service - front of house lady was so lovely. Definitely recommend if you love Turkish food ☺️

Very nice restaurant with excellent food. Well at least what I had ( the lam). It was really very good. Unfortunately I couldn't get the tiramusu but the cheesecake was splendid. Price was okay. Recommendable spot! Very clean and beautiful toilet too by the way ( I know werd comment)

Authentic and Friendly. We dined at Istanbul for our 16th Wedding Anniversary and we will definitely return, our host was attentive and friendly her service was done out of love and not as a 'job' . Sadly we felt that things were ‘off the boil’ at Istanbul this time. We have been many times over the years as a safe neighbourhood ‘go to’ but recently the food has just not been as good - last night’s moussaka lacked flavour and kebabs...

The food and atmosphere were good but the service was absolutely terrible. Very slow. It took over an hour to get our mains - and then they delivered 4 out of 5 and just didn't come back with the fifth. We had to flag someone and ask what happened. Then waited another 10 mins to get the last person's meal. When paying, the waitress left the card machine with us and left. After we paid she came back and entered the amount again for us to pay again. She had no idea we had just paid. We had to argue with her for a while and even show her how to use the machine since she clearly didn't know what she was doing. We won't be going back.

I came here last night to start the bank holiday weekend with a Turkish dinner after working a long week and I can say I was very pleased with the taste of the authentic Turkish food . Although it was busy, the manager Dela made us feel very welcome and happy to be there ! Definitely worth a visit when you’re visiting Harrogate or if you live close by ! She made us want to definitely come back !

Booked a table last minute and were very happy to fit my wife and myself in. On arrival greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table. Left to look at the drinks and food menu with no harassing to make a choice. Food menu was informative and had a great selection of choices. We chose the Falafel for a starter and when it came out it was beautifully presented and looked appetising, it tasted really good and authentic. We ordered the Kral Tabagi for our main and when it arrived it came out on a large platter and was again beautifully presented and colourful and tasted great and there was plenty for 2 people. Ordered Turkish tea and coffee and tasted great. The staff are very friendly and always attentive and made a great atmosphere definitely worth would recommend and will be returning soon

Found out about this little beauty a few weeks ago and been twice now. Food is absolutely delicious cooked to perfection. The staff are so kind and friendly and my 3 year old twins, even though they were tired, loved the food and kept running up to hug the waitress who is just the most lovely lady. The manager is also very friendly and welcoming and as a whole they just can’t do enough for you. If you’re looking for a nice child friendly restaurant or a romantic meal for two, look no further you will not be disappointed. We will most certainly be back again soon.
