Stayed a couple of nights. The atmosphere in the hotel was really nice, food and local beers were good and the location is brilliant. Just really let down by some very tired looking accommodation and what appeared to be a lack of staff at key times.

Poppadoms - cold / stale Pickle tray - good Starters - all appeared reheated and the reheat really didn’t work for the chops Mains - bland but generous on the portion not seen a green chilli in this jalfry. Breads - Excellent! Best bit by far of the meal Over priced for what you get All the atmosphere of Toolstation :) with piped commercial station inside and outside. This was my second meal, I won’t be visiting again. Though my first experience was just chefs night off.

This Indian food was absolutely delicious! The lamb jalfrezi was melt in the mouth moist and spiced with expertise. I live near the curry mile in Manchester and have eaten many excellent Indian dishes and accompaniments in my time. I am more than happy to admit that this was the BEST naan bread that I have ever tasted. The service took about 20 minutes, as expected, to be served freshly prepared food. We shared a main dish for lunch and it was a generous portion. On the down side, the venue is quite large so the atmosphere is not quite as cosy as I would like but it more than makes up for that with the attentive staff and picturesque location. We came upon this venue having kayaked down the river and stopped to explore the village. I would suggest that the owners advertise their fabulous Inn on the Wye at the rivers boating docking point to gain the foot fall that this excellent restaurant deserves. Well done to the chef!

Popped in for dinner three times as we were staying in the area. 1 evening had the steak which was very juicy and cooked perfectly, the other times were for curry night. Curries are highly recommended and far better than our local take away. Staff very friendly and it is dog friendly as well.

Avoid this place My step daughter booked her wedding here, what a shambles; lack of staff, only one person serving behind bar all day. Within one hour of us being there the ladies toilets stated flooding and we’re put out of use all day!!! All the rooms were fully booked by the families to stay over. So we were letting all the women use the toilets in our rooms as there were no other toilets available. Anyway day going ok but still needed more staff for cleaning and serving, lots of plates and glasses not being collected . BUT TO CAP IT ALL when my wife and I went to bed the room was full flies yes we had the window open as a very hot day, not knowing under our window was a large rubbish bin and when people were using our private toilet with the light on it attracted the flies see PHOTO with no rooms left available, and no staff to report matter too, we had too put up with it getting no sleep all night when I called the owner the following day he didn’t want to know I called three days later all he would offer was 20% off a meal wanting me to spend more money when telling him I was going too put on trip advisor he just said I don’t care !!,

We had a wonderful evening celebrating a special birthday with dinner at Inn on the Wye. The traditional Indian street food on offer is exceptional. The portions were generous, flavours were delicious and quality was excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The draft beer was well kept and of good quality too. We would really recommend to anyone looking for a sit down Indian meal! Best Indian we’ve had for a long time!

After passing by many times and finally having a free evening we called in for a nice evening meal, being spoilt with great pubs in the local all priced similarly we expected to be treated to good honest food. How wrong we were. We were met by a friendly bar maid who made us feel welcome and offered us a choice of tables. The restaurant was dimly lit in mid blue and gold paint with wood tables and floors and chairs from days gone by. The 80s style fake leather menus hid a light choice of food, 5 starters, 10 mains and a few extras, ok not a vast menu but simple food well done, still makes a great meal. To start we had whitebait, hollumi fries and chicken strips, 3 simple starters all easy to create using simple fresh ingredients, even boasting homemade tartar sauce with the whitebait. Omg all 3 were processed breaded rubbish over cooked in burnt oil to the point it was impossible to identify what we were eating, the tartar sauce was bland and maybe assembled in the kitchen but very lacking. For our main course we had chosen the house burger and a sirloin steak cooked medium, and a side of beer battered onion rings. Unfortunately they had run out of onion rings, I'm not sure which ingredients was not available, the onion, the flour or the beer, or perhaps the ability to combine ingredients. The steak was cooked medium, hallelujah, it was charred on the outside but medium in the middle, the burger was equally as charred but all the way through with little other flavour. Served with crispy overcooked fries and a bland coleslaw Final chance dessert. Nice selection but as someone with a nut intolerance I have to be careful, so I asked for some advice but at 8.30 pm the chefs had gone home so allergen advice was not available. Pot luck ruled and safe choices were hoped for. Tarte au citron, oh no flavor, more low end prepack and a salted caramel sundae, mmmm glass of fake cream fudge sprinkle snd a small scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom. Total bill including a pint of cider and a diet post mix Pepsi £86. We won't be back, it's such a shame to see lovely country Inns being milked by people with no passion or culinary ability, even the fast food end of the market sell better quality products than here

Stopped here for a light lunch and we were warmly welcomed by the friendliest chatted barmaid I've ever met. She handed me some biscuits for my dogs and nothing was too much trouble for her. We enjoyed our baguettes and chips in the beer garden. We were especially pleased that there was a vegan and gluten free offer for lunch too as it is often hard to come by. If we are ever in the area again I would return.

Extremely poor. Was not busy and yet still we had to wait an hour and a half for the food order. 1 of the items was not available which we weren't made aware of until 10 minutes after the order had been placed. When the food did eventually arrive we had to request cutlery and the food was barely edible. Everything was overcooked. The chips were like cardboard. I specifically requested no lettuce or tomato with the burger - it arrived with both. The 2 staff members were not at all interested and couldn't even manage a hello when we walked in. Needless to say that we won't be back - Drive on to the next pub if you want my advice - I wish we had!

Super blandly presented food: the "home made" Chilli con carne (yes - I also thought that pre-fix died out in the 1980's but then we are on the edge of the Forest of dean) was small, lacking the advertised salsa and was accompanied by "home made" tortilla chips with the consistency and taste of microwaved nan breads which Wetherspoons specialize in. The young millennial girl behind the counter did what they thought passed for customer service i.e look annoyed when asked to serve as that interrupted her from what was happening on her iphone. When I ordered the food the young man working along side her insisted on a table number - which was amusing as not only was I one of the sum total of three people in the whole pub at the time but most of the outside tables even had numbers on them. On the plus side the food was tasty which is just was well as dining options are very limited here and there was a good selection of lagers and ciders.

Where to find somewhere decent to eat and to take your grandchildren on a Monday in Herefordshire? That was the question. I trawled for over an hour without success and then bingo I came across the Inn on the Wye - down by the river just outside Ross on Wye. We were coming from Brecon back to Oxfordshire and wanted a halfway house for lunch. We got a really warm welcome from the staff who couldn't do enough for us. A nice varied menu with something for everyone - good quality, freshly cooked pub grub -although this inn had rooms as well if you wanted to explore further in the ye Valley. Good value for money, stasff who couldn't do enough for us ( not many punters thast Monday). We will certainly call again when next on our way to or from Wales.

We love this little gem of a soft play. The 'play bus' has become my kids favourite thing to do. I have 2 year old twins and a six year old, so while they play in the 'play bus' I can sit and have a coffee outside. Its small enough that the toddlers can race around safely by themselves and is never busy.

Wish I’d read the reviews first. We came in the afternoon and they’re weren’t serving food so we sat and had a drink, the table was dirty, as were the surrounding tables, despite having no customers but the waitress was friendly! We asked for a menu to see if we’d like to book a table and despite the menu also being dirty, decided to book a table to come later (mainly as it was the closest pub within walking distance and the selection seemed good). When we arrived later we were told they had no Pulled Pork, Ragu, Curry, Fish and Chips or Chilli - so basically the majority of the menu. We ended up ordering one main and some sides and asked for nachos as a starter. Food took 45 minutes and all arrived at the same time, despite my request. Chips were way too salty, nachos were oily and overall very bland; couldn’t stomach even half the meal. Nobody asked if we needed more drinks or came over to ask how the food was, probably because they knew what the response would be. While we were sat there, the manager forced one of the girls to go over and ask a customer if they were actually eating - he was waiting for a friend and hadn’t even been given a menu, which was pretty shocking as it wasn’t even busy so I’m not sure why they were trying to move him on! Another couple were complaining about the food, another group complaining about the wait. Staff weren’t terrible, management obviously just doesn’t have a clue. Next time I’ll avoid, even if it means walking 7 hours.

We were most disappointed this evening after deciding to pop down to our local. I quickly visited the website to check it was open and that we could grab a bite to eat ( May bank hol 29th 2023). On arriving we went to the bar and ordered drinks and asked if we could have a table. I didn’t think it would be an issue as I only saw one other couple. The bar attendant replied with have you booked? Erm no the website said we could but didn’t specify we had too and then asked if we were staying? I must admit I felt quite small and slightly humiliated as I said but you have no one in. He said he would ask the chef as there was only one person in the kitchen so we took our drinks out side. After 10 minutes the bar attendant came back across saying they would try fit us in! I’ve lived in the area for more than 40 years and have seen all the local pubs close through lack of customers. I can’t believe we were made to feel uncomfortable because we hadn’t booked or because we were not staying. Are locals no longer important? We decided to finish our drinks and leave. If it was going to be an effort to serve us then it wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere to be in. From an accounting point of view sales are everything! Really disappointed and won’t attempt to go back or recommend to friends.

Veg taken a long time to come out after all Meals when asked for extra they asked other members of our table if we could have there veg if they was done which was scragged ends of veg and was reluctant to give us extra the roast potatoes were rock solid and the meat full of blood and hard to eat ! Paella was risotto and very disappointing and the staff didn’t once ask if everything was ok for us as we would have told them this at the time for a family spending over £300 on food and drinks this was absolutley attrocious and one of the worst meals we have ever eaten.

The location is very good with our room looking out onto the ruins of Goodrich castle. You are within easy reach of Symonds Yat east and west plus the lovely town of Ross on Wye. We were upgraded to a 4 poster room which was nice.. plenty of storage space .. clean and tidy though the hotel may well be in need of re decorating but it is clean . Due to Covid no shower gels etc could be provided and the save for condiments etc at meal times ... we had to book a table even to drink due to Covid. We ate an evening meal from the reduced menu and I’m afraid I was a bit disappointed.. the local burger tasted nice, but was dry with a dryPiece of bacon and burnt cheese on.. no relish to accompany it .. a small spoon of peas and frozen chips..!! Please don’t take this as a negative as we know many places are in the same boat due to Covid and the staff were brilliant making up for everything bless them. Breakfast was good but again nothing could be put out which we fully understood... some lovely walks in the area . Called for lunch this week. As it was a nice day, we sat outside on a bench table. We found the cleanest one we could but even that could have done with a wipe and the used serviette removed, (especially in these COVID times). We had to select from a blackboard outside and order at the bar. Lunch menu was limited but we chose what we wanted and placed our order. I had scampi which was served with frozen chips, peas and tartar sauce, no lemon wedge or side salad. The food was quite cold and apart from not looking appealing, it didn’t taste any better. One of our party had a pasty and that was hot as was the sausages but their chips were also quite cold. It is a shame our experience was not good on this occasion because with a little effort, it could have been a lot better. A few fresh vegetables and a little imagination would really help.

Slow service on Sat 18 July 2020. Had pre-booked a table, it wasn’t that busy. Took about 45 mins to get a starter for us both. Prawns weren’t particularly hot, although tasty. Garlic mushrooms were quite good. Hunters Chicken was excellent and hot, although I had asked for sweet potato fries instead standard fries and these were barely warm. Also told they had run out of peas!!! Really?! Crikey! Had green beans as an alternative which were ok. Partner had the sausages in a large Yorkshire Pud, which he said was ok. No-one came to ask if the meal was ok until we had just about finished. The reason I didn’t send either part back was due to the initial 45 minute wait we had already had - it might have never come back! I was hungry!!Also - table we were given was like a see-saw and has definitely seen better days!! Tilted badly and just a bit tired. On a positive note, the young guy that served us was friendly and nice.

Our First Anniversary and we wanted it to be special. Our first choice venue is no longer in business, but the inn on the wye looked lovely with sparkly lights and welcoming staff. The menu looked good, mid priced, a little pretentious on the details. The food arrived in good time, however it was a little disappointing...the home made burger looked like my niece had thrown it together and the seasonal veg with my gammon turned out to be carrots and mangetout. Colcannon was just Smash. We ordered dessert of warm choc fudge cake and a gluten free & vegan caramel cheesecake. Both were served with fresh berries, the presentation was lovely. The cheesecake had a chocolate topping which wasn't mentioned before, but even with cutting it off, I still had a very good dessert. So, two courses and one drink each came to £34. Not bad really. Came here for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of a family member and left slightly disappointed. The Sunday menu seems to be particularly limited with a choice of various roasts or a couple of specials. The portion sizes were reasonable with a good amount of roast beef but no stuffing even with the roast chicken, which I always consider to be an essential part of a Sunday roast. My other pet hate is Sunday roasts being served with gravy - I would much prefer to be given a jug of gravy so that I can choose the amount that I put on my meal. Reasonably priced at £10.95 for a roast but service was particularly slow with both taking our order and receiving food seeming to take forever. As our plates were cleared, we asked for the bill - when this showed no sign of arriving, we eventually paid at the bar. If this is the only place for miles around then it's adequate but definitely not worth a special journey.

We are local to the area but this was our first visit to this Inn. We wanted something a bit different from our normal 'value mass menu' fayre and the Inn certainly gave us that.Car park is up a steep incline, so best drop off any less able patrons at bottom, and Inn has a pleasing if a little dated aspect. As it is also a hotel there is some comfortable lounge seating to enjoy a pre meal drink and plenty of choice of seating in dining area. The menu is not your average dishes and the prices reflect the enhanced choices , our g/f party member was pleased with the choices available and our party had the mixed fish platter and a hot camembert with chutney and chunky bread to dip as starters ,both delicious!our main courses consisted of fish/chips , chicken supreme, trio of fish, lamb tangerine , all I can say is that the portions were generous, and every one very much enjoyed there choices, lovely!. Staff were fine and members of dine can get 2 for one here if you book ahead which then makes for excellent value, but I believe its good value regardless, for the quality of food on offer .I would imagine this would be a lovely place to stay for visitors to the area and a great spot to stop for those walking the wye valley or canoeist paddling by, dogs seem to be welcomed and we would not hesitate to return when we fancy something just a little bit different.

Recently renovated we walked from Goodrich crossing the river Wye to this hotel one evening for a drink. Pleasant staff and the interior bar looked clean and charming, although we sat outside at the front on a warm evening

After a visit to the nearby castle, we spotted the Inn on the Wye in an elevated position to the right as we were about to get back out onto the main road. As it was lunchtime, we decided to eat here. The entrance/exit to the car park is very steep, but once parked there was an entrance into the pub down some stairs. The location is also a hotel. We were given a menu as we ordered drinks. It's quite a small menu and a little pricey too (£6.50 for a sandwich.. I'll get to that shortly..)My husband isn't a big fan of sauces on things so found the menu very limited. He ended up choosing the steak and caramelised onion on brown (which turned out to be more of rye than wholemeal) and I went for the coronation chicken on white. We were given a numbered spoon so we could be found outside (as it was such a beautiful day) with our orders.I think we probably waited about 15 minutes or so before our food arrived. The salad on the side wasn't over appetizing. Mainly scatted heart shaped leaves with a sprinkle of chopped peppers, a halved plum cherry tomato and CELERY!!! (We both hate celery and find it seems to make anything it touches taste of it) there was also a portion of coleslaw which because of it's colour I assume was curried.(this is something else my husband doesnt like and it had 'contaminted' a good bit of his salad)Luckily, his beef was 'cremated' as he likes it, but it looked quite dry. Dry was his overall impression of his sandwich. Maybe a bit of gravy would have helped. The coronation chicken on my chewy white bun was bland. Not much flavour at all.The establishment itself was lovely, (albeit pricey for what you get) and the staff were smiley and friendly. If we are ever that way again, then we'd probably visit.

A lovely pub overlooking the green Wye valley and Goodrich castle. Friendly bar staff, plenty of outdoor seating for a sunny day, comfy couches indoors and reasonably priced drinks. Happy hour is Monday to Friday! Wahey! Kaltenburg lager is favourite of mine there. A lovely little River stop for a refreshing pint.

Took friends for Sunday lunch. It was our first visit to the pub and we were very disappointed with the whole meal. There was a very limited menu with no starters, the service was indifferent and the quality of food was average. Such a shame when the area is so beautiful. We are local to the area but this is not a pub we will be visiting again.

We stayed at the Inn for one night in a chalet, originally we had booked the last room which was a twin, on arrival we asked if they had a double room and luckily for us someone had not bothered to check in so they changes us to that room.

Visited on Sunday 12th May for Sunday Roast. We have been there before and enjoyed our meals but this time we didn't. We were really disappointed with the size of the serving, most of us ordered the beef and only got one slice each. We certainly felt we should have had a better portion for the amount paid. We did notice it was very quiet when we were there perhaps the locals have found somewhere better to go.

First class in every sense. Amazing food, wonderful service, good prices - excellent value. The pub/inn/restaurant is in such a lovely setting too, the views were amazing. I was blown away with the venue and how friendly the staff were. So it could only get better when the food came out with portion sizes to feed an army...and it was delicious!

Stay just the one night thankfully wish I read reviews before booking room very tired shower discussing black mould in every corner which I find surprising as it would not cost much to correct also surprising has somebody left a review in 2017 complaining of the same thing. food was ok but nothing to write home about glad we're only here for 1 nights

My parants asked to meet for a drink here before they left to go back north, but on arrival we were all hungry so decided to have some lunch! And what a great idea that was. Myself and my husband had the fish finger bagette and it was fab. My mum had the crayfish which she enjoyed greatly and my dad had the steak and caramalised onion which he also enjoyed. We will definitely be returning and hopefully this will be where we have Christmas dinner this year.

We booked the Inn on the Wye due to the dog friendly reviews that we had seen on Trip Adviser so spent two nights here to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary. We had read that the chalet rooms, which are the ‘dog friendly’ rooms, where a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The reviews where correct, the chalet rooms do need updating, but these are the dog friendly rooms and are completely adequate. The inn itself is set close to the road on the outskirts of Goodrich, and is in an ideal location for exploring the area. We arrived bit early to check in so had a bit of a walk along the River Wye and some lunch to pass the time. We booked a table for the evening to ensure that we had some dog space allowing people who did not have dogs with them to sit away from us if they wanted to. We both chose the lamb shank off the specials board, amazing! The food was delicious and red hot when it came to the table. Could not fault it one bit. Finished off with a couple of beers and a desert. I had the ice cream and my wife the chocolate brownie. Breakfast the following morning was just as good, didn’t look much on the menu but was more than enough and again delicious.

Visited on a Sunday and was very impressed with the food, service and drinks we had. Also had a lovely view out of the window. My better half said it was the best Sunday roast she had eaten in a very long time. Properly cooked, fresh food and very tasty. We had the baked Camembert to share for start which came with plenty of bread for two. The only problem was the mains were so big we didn’t need to have the starter.. delicious never the less. I had the gammon and it was fab. Gorgeous chips and two eggs as I declined the pineapple.. I would recommend a visit.

Stopped for a one night visit en route to Cardiff. Was given a room in the block of chalets across the car park from the main building. Room was dated and needs some refurbishment but was clean and warm. Bed was comfy and had a quiet undisturbed night. Ate in the restaurant at last minute notice and the staff were very accommodating. Would definitely use again if in the area.

Have recently moved to the area and have visited the Inn twice now for Sunday lunch. We hadn’t booked but were able to be seated, also is dog friendly. Unfortunately the first time it was extremely busy and had run out of roast potatoes, but the roast beef was very good. The next time I had the lamb which was ok, but left me wishing I’d had the beef again. Personal choice I guess. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will certainly be visiting again.

Called in late afternoon on a Sunday. Not disappointed at all. Wife had the roast lamb, the lad had a burger and I had a rump steak. Three diversery meals after 3pm and every one was to right home about. Fantastic food and brilliant service. Best meal I have had there in the few years we have been back local.

We stayed in a double chalet room. OK it could have been bigger but for 2 nights was fine. The linen and towels were great quality and well laundered. The bathroom including shower cubicle was spotless. Slight niggle - could have used two chairs instead of one. Quiet. Staff very friendly and efficient. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast (full English) too much for us so we asked to have some items omitted. The sausage on the second morning was inferior but again a small point but noticeable. Second evening we wanted something light so chose baked Camembert to share which we ate in the bar lounge. All in all a very comfortable stay.

What a beautiful spot! And we got the loveliest welcome when we walked through the door of this delightful restaurant & with a pint of local brew later, we were ready to order. The menu was simple but enticing with plenty to chose from-nothing fancy but with a home cooked feel & because it all felt so cosy & friendly, we had a second bottle of wine with a cheese board-having wolfed down two excellent courses already. Good job we were staying there....

As friends had been less than enthusiastic about the Inn on the Wye, I was a little dubious about eating there, but as it is local and I wasn't paying I thought I would give it a go. The first thing that struck me was the warmth of the welcome. The waitress was so friendly, chatty and helpful, and the interior was very pleasant also. The food when it came was good - not spectacular, but generous portions and nicely presented, although putting the fish and chips and scampi on chips on pieces of paper (rocking the chip shop vibe) was a mistake, as you ended up with mouthfuls of paper if you weren't careful. However, overall an enjoyable visit and I woould certainly go there again.

Having been staying locally for a holiday we have had two lovely evening meals here. Portions were exceptionally generous and the food excellent. Only criticism would have to be that there were several substitutions in the menu and a very limited choice of desert as they’d run out of several items. Would recommend for a pub meal.
