Our food was absolutely incredible we loved however we spent 45 minutes waiting for our desert menu to which my other half actually had to wave down waitresses and calling out for staff to serve us which they would look at us and still do nothing. In the end we went to the bar to get service we weren't given an apology not even a drink taken off the bill for the inconvenience. Unsure if we would return I don't think spending £130 with a 45 minute wait whilst the staff ignored us when it wasn't particularly busy especially when the waitress came over cleared our plates and asked if we would like the desert menu to which we said yes to and still had that 45

The food was a bit underwhelming. I ordered the sea bass and although the description says prawns, it didn’t come with any. We also had the mixed bread starter with pestos (I can’t remember what it was called on the menu) but it just looked like and tasted of bits of toast. Our server also wasn’t particularly friendly and dumped our food on the table a few times. We also hear an argument from the kitchen with someone shouting “I hate her”. Bit of an odd experience!

Beautiful setting, excellent service and delicious food!

Relatively good food, reasonably quick service but the star deduction was for the lack of clarity on the sticky digital allergy menu I was passed. As an example they show you what you can eat, which looks to be quite a lot, but the gluten-free dessert that I chose ‘Cookie and ice cream,’ was without the cookie as it wasn’t GF. Why not just state ice cream!?

Very nice food! The set lunch menu is good value. Service could be quicker, however I would still come back.

Went there before Christmas to check it out , it was cold plus we have bird pet , we sat outside with a drink and steak sandwich 🥪 staff really lovely even come out to check and turned heated parasols for us and our bird pet , the garden domes looks lovely at the back with plenty of tables and space and another space for car park we think this place will be perfect for us in the summer , will definitely go back there .

The place was lovely however the bellypork roast was a disaster because they gave me the smallest amount of belly pork for price they charge. I will not be eating there again.

Great place to stay, sadly I was unwell so not able to report much. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Lovely lady in charge very kind, room was fabulous plenty of room.

Parking was available, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I am vegetarian and there were options for me on the menu. The food was yummy and the pub had that comforting atmosphere of chatter and low music. Would visit again.

Deathly quiet for Xmas Eve breakfast, when everywhere else is fully booked was slightly concerning. That said, we were made very welcome and the full English breakfast was very good. Staff we also very pleasent!

had a group breakfast which came out quickly, but for 17.50, it looked nice but tasted average, 1 piece of bacon and 1 sausage, is not good value for money, i also don't like being asked to give a tip... if i think it's deserved i'll give one. not cool to demand one it out in front of people then select what % you think that should be....

I've been driving for months past this gem, unaware of what I was missing! Unfortunately it is really pricey, ( not surprising for Godalming, one of the most expensive places in Surrey) but great food, service and location

Lovely pub-restaurant for meeting up with friends and family. Appealing menu. Great atmosphere and although the place was completely full with big parties, food and drinks were served promptly. We had an issue with one of the dishes which was resolved well. Cosy in winter and outside space for summer days. Some areas could do with a lick of paint (doors to loos)

Great pub, excellent service, good choice of beers and a great menu, we often use this pub as a meeting point as they are very accommodating in allowing us use of a private meeting room, I highly recommend The Inn on The Lake. Will definitely be returning to this excellent establishment!

Excellent Sunday roast dinner! Beef was melt in the mouth, really friendly service from Sara, was more than happy to help with anything we wanted and lovely and chatty. Would definitely recommend to a friend and to ask for Sara too!

We came to the Inn on the lake for a Wake. We had a lovely experience even for a very sad occasion. Right from the first phone call, we received such compassionate service. We couldn't fault anything, the welcome we all received, the food, the actual venue. They met all our needs, and we were so grateful. A very big thank you has to go to Nicky for all of her help and kind words.

We had a wonderful lunch today, my son even commented that his burger was the best ever! The food was very fresh and beautifully cooked and we will definitely be back!

We had a three course meal to celebrate my husbands birthday. We enjoyed every mouthful, which I conveyed to the lovely guy who served us. I would definitely recommend The Inn on the Lake.

Food was delicious and quit reasonable, fresh fish, steaks, pastas, many more offerings than I would have thought. The service was just delightful, with a focus on making you feel at home. We did spend 3 nights in one of there guest room which was spacious and extremely comfortable, large bathroom, highly recommended Thank you especially to Kate who was incredibly welcoming

A very disappointing lunch. The staff were very nice and very efficient but the food really wasn't very good at all. The fish was described as being served with a salsa but was served in a bowl, swimming in a very greasy, rather horrible, sauce. We ordered the hot drinks and mini desserts for dessert and the mini dessert was half a lemon tart on a saucer. It was soggy (probably shop bought) and was garnished with salad leaves!! Neither of us ate it - no one asked us why not - interestingly. I am afraid we won't return.

Food was very good, however the service was extremely slow. Also please note that they add a service charge to the bill without notifying you. I paid over £13.00 on the service charge, but the service was very slow, we were there for an hour and half and only had a main meal and two drinks I can't say I would go back there. Also your feedback said you only charge a service charge for 6 people or more, we paid and there was only 4 of us. Confusing or what

Food wad bad, meant to be steak but it was a bit of brisket, veg was rock hard, and don't know what the brown stuff was.

We went here for Sunday lunch. Really nice and spacious inside and staff were lovely. However the food was very very slow and when it did arrive was a bit disappointing. My fish & mushy peas were a bit dry and the fish didn’t look fresh

Very hard working team delivering a varied menu and working a busy bar. But prices are becoming increasingly unpalatable as portion sizes shrink. Atmosphere is good and very nice place to meet clients over a drink or daytime coffee. But either way, prices still steep. Walking distance of Godalming Station.

Gone downhill since we went a few years ago. Classic case of cutting back to make savings. Food is just standard premade pub chain stuff. Lots of sugar, even my burger tasted sweet and it wasn't even the bread?! High traffic areas e.g. wall, doors touch points all very very worn and need a good clean. Whole place smelt of chemical cleaner.

The roast dinner including potatoes and yorkshire puddings was very well cooked (just right), and everyone else said how nice their food was too. We were well looked after by the staff with our group of 18 people. The staff checked a few details with us before the meal ie Gluten options, and having preordered, the timing of the meal servings was great.

Nice location to spend a weekend. However, the room was really not clean. The bathroom had not been cleaned and it did not smell fresh. Everything else was fine.

Both food and service were perfect. We ate Fish & Chips which were perfectly cooked with good fish and crispy batter. We also stayed at the hotel which was great. Nicely decorated in nice surroundings, friendly and helpful staff. Special hostess for breakfast. She was so nice and helpful. The breakfast itself was absolutely fantastic, perfectly cooked to order and excellent coffee!

I went there with friends for lunch and found the waitresses were patronising and somehow rude at times.The food I ordered was calamari which very hard and chewy, followed by a chicken salad. The tomatoes were over ripe and mushy in the salad which was mainly red onion and houmous.I didn’t find any avocado as advertised. All in all very disappointing. The food was so bad I left more than half on the plate. I was asked if I would take the remains as a doggy bag, to which I agreed. However a second waitress cleared the table and collected all the leftovers onto one plate from which the first waitress retrieved my doggy bag. Good job it was for a dog. When we came to pay the bill individually, the waitress made a mistake and charged me incorrectly and was reluctant to correct the mistake. One of the worst lunches I have had for awhile.

Super! We had a wake today for my Nana and it was absolutely superb. Nikki did a fantastic job and the food and service was second to none. Nikki organized everything and was so friendly and professional. Wakes are never easy but Nikki made the whole experience pleasant from start to finish. We would recommend the Inn on the Lake 100%

Been here before and had a great time. Today we had a nice lunch although not as good as last time, we waited a long while for our food and the waitress wasnt very good, she didnt respond when we tried to get her attention and was very miserable. We even had to call another waitress over to get our bill, we wish we had had the lovely blond smiley waitress that we had before. It might have been this girls first day but she needs to learn customer care and service.

So arrived to a room we hadn't booked. Mmmm? Ne or hotel...? Who cares it was all sorted calmly and professionally, the Team sorting us out and our new room was perfect. The food superb. The wine list fab...some really well thought out wines especially the reds. Outside.... divine..rain or shine. A hotel with an amazing history so do look at the old photos of the place, the inscribed paving stones, recognise the amount of years its taken for the palms and asl the Team, especially Nicky, about its history. Ask about the waiter who fell in the Carp pond. Lovely people, lovely place. Miller and Butler need to invest more in its upkeep. A MUST visit.

Spent a delightful Saturday Morning here with my partner and members of her family. Nice spot in Front Window. In fact nice spot as location for the Venue itself. Food was okish, we've all eaten -perhaps better - here before but big pluses are: Thoughtful Service...Brioche presented with Candle as a personalized Birthday treat. Exterior seating with Canopies looks attractive. As is most of the spacious interior. Bit of work would be desirable ( eg few shoddy doors and scruffy walls in toilets), but place retains a charm that deserves revisiting for a pleasant ambiance x

We had a table booked here on Friday 23 August at 13:00 for four people. We can honestly only speak as we found. None of us had been here before and when we arrived the building is an old character building with plenty of car parking spaces next to a roundabout on the road to Godalming. There are plenty of steps to negotiate but they also have a superb ramp access facility which would certainly assist many who need it. When we walked in we were greeted very warmly by a lady behind the bar and she took us through to our table in the restaurant area. The place at this stage was empty as we had all turned up nearly 45 minutes early for a drink first. Service was really good and efficient and we were mainly served and looked after by the excellent Charlotte😊. The lunchtime menu offers a really impressive value two and three course option. We actually had two people having the two courses at £18:95 and two having the three courses at £22:95. All the meals were simply superb and the value was excellent. The only negative and that was not an issue and I blame ourselves for not noticing, was that we were actually charged for three (two courses) and one (three course). This meant that the Home Baked Triple Chocolate Cookie with three scoops of ice cream option which was actually offered on the set lunchtime menu was charged separately at £7:25 on our bill. We only noticed this when we got home but have really only mentioned to highlight to others to check your bill more carefully. Our total bill with drinks came to £129:45. Bill, Acc No 2266 so great value we all felt. Anyway we all had such a great time that we never really wanted to leave, and in fact ended up sitting in the garden area with coffee's until nearly 15:30. We did sit for a short while wondering what we had to do about drinks outside and in the end went inside to the bar to order the coffee's. We would all certainly come back here again without doubt and would highly recommend to others. Thank you for a great visit.

We were looking for a suitable venue for a reception/wake, none of us being familiar with the area, but I had been to the Inn on the Lake for a similar event some years ago and remembered it. A pretty hotel and easy to find, our reserved area was private with easy access to the bar and a nice relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. A display table and the generous fireplace ledge were handy for memorabilia. We pre-booked the buffet a week ahead, the choices were interesting and varied and the prices reasonable. Variations to the choices where possible for dietary reasons were accommodated or alternatives suggested without any fuss. Very little food was left so obviously popular. Our staff were very nice, respectful, helpful and attentive and the buffet was laid out beautifully. Everything went well and we were all pleased with whole afternoon.

Great service from start to finish. Prem was amazingly kind to allow us to move our booking last minute. We stayed over night as well. Rooms stunningly decorated. Good food and great drink

Had a lovely meal with friends here. We were given a really nice table and the food was excellent. I had the cod dish and it was probably one of the loveliest bits of cod I have ever had.

Booked the whole hotel (20 rooms) for 2 nights. The hotel, grounds, pub area inside and out were all clean, tidy and well maintained. The staff were very friendly but unfortunately the manageress/owner could be quite rude and snappy at times. We had an evening meal on the day we all arrived and everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the service was good, unfortunately breakfast was a let down, some meals arriving cold or over cooked, the black pudding and hash browns were so over cooked they were impossible to cut or bite. I felt they were understaffed with the owner/manageress taking the orders, serving the food and clearing tables. As a large group we did not expect us to be served all at the same time especially as we all arrived, ordered and sat at different times, but we did expect the breakfast to be cooked properly and served hot. Breakfast was very disappointing especially as we had such high hopes after the dinner we had on the night we arrived. If properly staffed I felt this could had been avoided. Also I must say many of the group were happy with their breakfasts but more were not. Even though the manageress/owner probably felt under pressure with the hotel being completely full there is no need to be rude and snappy.
