Indus Indian Takeaway in Torbay

Awful, awful, awful Had to give a star to make this comment. Food arrived half hour to early from time booked. Ordered a banana dish, no banana, no flavour, meat so tough my jaw hurt from chewing it. Orderd a semi hot dish, so so hot could hardly eat and didn't finish more like a very hot madras. Naan bread...my advice...avoid. Thought we'd give this take away a chance as we always ordered from previous owners. Food then was excellent but delivery was poor. From this experience with the new owners we will definitely NOT be using them again.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NAWABS HAS TAKEN OVER WHAT WAS THE REVIEWS FOR THE INDUS . Ordered food from here and it was, without exception, the most disgusting Indian food I have ever had in my entire life. Avoid this place at all costs. Everything was swimming in vile orange grease and was inedible. It had to be thrown out and I got a refund through Deliveroo.

Great food. All made from fresh while you wait. The only thing is waiting time for food. That's understandable. Highly recommended.

This new place opened from 12/08/2023 nawab last Sunday I got my 3 times Oder from nawab everything is good

Went in. Was told it’d be 40 mins. Made me wait for 90 in total. Guy just kept on taking online orders when there weren’t enough staff to process. When challenged he said the mix grill was freshly made that’s why. When I got it, it’s not what I would call a mixed grill. It was one piece of chicken and a few pieces of lamb. Don’t order butter chicken because it’s more like chicken korma with a coconut sauce. The chef obviously doesn’t know what butter chicken should taste like. Also we ordered fried chicken and chips for the little one. We got chicken pieces in a tub and chips in a paper bag. Again they obviously don’t know what fried chicken and chips should look like. All in all, was disappointed because they’d obviously taken on more than they can chew. Don’t tell lies about how long it’s gonna be please…if you can’t honour your word..

This is the first time I've used this takeaway since it reopened last week, so you will have to ignore any reviews before the 12th/08/23 as they would have been for the previous owners. I found the new owners of Nawab's very clean polite, and efficient, and I hope to use them again in the near future, and I wish them luck in their new venture. Bob S

Ordered and paid for a takeaway online as we have done a few times. Order didn’t arrive, couldn’t get hold of them by phone, went to the place to find it closed. We have handed the matter to our bank who are trying to a refund for us. They are still taking orders online 😡

Gone down Hill with new management, Potatoes were hard, bland taste. Wouldn't be surprised if it was microwaved from previous day

I arrived at the counter to place an order to discover its 10% cheaper if you phone your order in advance, great if the answer. On arrival back to Totnes we discovered we had a rice missing and the one wrong naan bread, many attempts to phone but again no answer.

Ordered and paid for delivery at 7.15, it's now 9.30 so after calling constantly and no answer on the phones we have driven there to find it's shut.

Ordered tonight for 8.30 delivery, order was confirmed by email, money pending on bank account. Order hadn’t arrived, can’t get through to the shop, tried calling the mobile number on the email, they said they’d never heard of them, just appalling do not use

awful! Ordered a takeaway for pick up. arrived at the restaurant and it was closed, no lights on, no one was in or answering phone calls even though the restaurant had taken payment. spoke to a nearby takeaway and they mentioned this has happened to other people recently.

Ordered a meal on line at 4pm for a 6pm delivery, no sign of the meal by 7.15 phone constantly engaged, mobile not being answered. Despite my mobility issues I went to the take away, sorry on line not working (takes your money mind), guy offered to cook what I ordered quickly and get it delivered, as soon as I mentioned lamb that was it they had none, got a cash refund and ordered my meal elsewhere, very nice it was too. Avoid run by amateurs.

The worst service ever. Placed order for delivery at 6pm not received by 8pm. Could not get through on phone so went to restaurant to see what had happened to find machine had broken and order not processed surely someone could have phoned to tell me this. I asked to have my order cooked so I could take it. The order included prawns and lamb. I was told they only had chicken. A total disgrace . I went to Tandoori Nights in Preston who were amazing and saved the day. Highly recommend

Awful! We ordered lamb saag, got given chicken, knowing we had ordered lamb, and only found out when we got home. Were told it was because they'd sold out of lamb, so not only did they not call us to let us know so that we could change our order but they also didn't tell us when we went to collect! Ordered 1 mint dip, 1 chutney and 2 mango. Got 3 mint and 1 mango! Then there's the stale poppadoms. Worst customer service and Indian around. Avoid!

Best indian in the bay, food always gorgeous, hot and consistent been here a fair few times and wouldnt go anywhere else now after trying lots of indians around this is by far the best.

Ordered twice in the last few weeks and honestly have been so impressed by the food. Not sure if they have had a change in chef but the food seems so much tastier compared with a year ago when I was last visiting the area. The chicken madras is excellent! Great sized portions packed full of flavour. Highly recommend.

Absolutely disgusting, Pink chicken funny coloured poppadom's and a thick layer of what i assume is oil on top of my curry. 100% avoid this disgusting place. Oh and to top it off it was 30 mins late.

took 2hours before the order gets delivered. Not picking up their phone for update. The biryani is full of colors, doesn’t taste biryani at all.

I have had several takeaways from the Indus and have been very happy with the meal, however tonight we ordered our normal takeaway for collection not only was it much reduced in quantity, but also would not give us the 10% discount that says you will get with telephone orders and collection, they say that you only get the discount for orders over £15, that is not how it reads, it reads that is for delivery orders. Unfortunately despite being happy with the quality of the food, the response from the Indus via the phone was not good and was not listening to what we had to say, so will be seeking a different takeaway.

They gave my food to my neighbour by mistake, then sent another order which took an hour longer, which was no good as I was already at work with an empty stomach /: the delivery driver couldn't remember which of my neighbours stole my food when he returned for a second time

NEVER AGAIN! I ordered the set menu, my curry had a horrible taste with 4 small pieces of chicken. I received a crushed salad in a food waste bag! I had no mint sauce and was missing my additional rice that I had bought on top. My partner ordered a set menu for 1 also and his curry was inedible and also contained 3 minuscule chicken pieces…. I rang up and after having a 5 minute debate that I never ordered the rice that was missing they finally noticed I was indeed correct. They told me I could collect the rice if I wished & was offered no additional item as an apology. Indus used to be amazing and so delicious, gone down hill hugely, I repeat never again…

Ordered on just eat, supposed to be delivered in 45 minutes. 20 minutes after that, no delivery. No answer on the phone until 30+ attempts. Told was out for delivery, less than 10 minutes away. After 15 minutes called again and was told that the chef had made an error but could begin cooking it now and have it out in 20 minutes. Total farce. Avoid.

Tried calling them several times and no one answered. Waited till nearly 10 for the food to be dropped off. Not an apology or anything from the driver. But food was lovely, will just make sure to order it earlier next time.

Order over 1.5 hours late, had to drive to the take away to get any sense out of staff. Concerns arose already when there was a woman complaining about food in there!! Don’t bother ringing them they don’t pick up. We were only 2 mins away and they kept saying the driver left 10 mins ago. Total shambles of a business… it beggars belief how the business stays open, 0 stars.Gave £10 refund, but in truth it ruined the last night of our holiday.

We are staying on a caravan site in the area and we’re really missing a Indian takeout, the site that we staying on had the menu brochure for the Indus so we decided to try it , What could we say but 1st class, from ordering our food to the very prompt and polite delivery service, they called when they were leaving with our food and told us how long he would be. The food was piping hot and wow the abundance of chicken and ingredients in our meals was just fantastic,I had the garlic chilli chicken and my wife had a mild chicken balti, garlic rice, garlic Nan, We have not had a better take away in all our touring adventures around the country,Well done and if you ever move into the midlands please let us know

Have used this take away several times but tonight we were disappointed as it seemed greasy compared previous meals we have had. It arrive with the time allocated and the food was hot.

Waited for nearly 1hr 30 mins . Mixed kebab tasted awful the lambe was chewy and tasted fishy . The chicken was squishy and tasted off And the sheesh what ever it was isn’t edible I urged as I took my first bite so binned the rest . The curry’s chicken was also flaky and disgusting . All in all the whole meal we spent £50 on was awful and ile never shop here again . Avoid .

Indus Takeaway Paignton has new Management and friendly helpful staff. I am vegetarian and was recommended by a member of staff to try the Peshwari vegetable curry (medium) which I hadn’t seen before.Wow it was delicious with a good variety of vegetables and sauce. I will definitely be returning again soon.

Contacted the takeaway themselves who couldn't have cared less and hung up the phone. Disgusting service, will never use again.

Ordered at 7 delivered at 9:20!!! They need to work on the accuracy of their estimated delivery time. Food was lovely but wouldn't not risk ordering again due to the extremely slow delivery. Staff were friendly and apologetic on both occasions we called to chase.

First time of ordering from here and I have to say it was delicious. Extremely tasty. We ordered garlic chilli chicken and garlic chicken tikka masala with rice and naan bread. Arrived on time the bloke was very friendly too. We will definitely be ordering from here again oh and we got free poppadoms

Usually love this take away... But the poppadoms tasted like they were cooked in old oil and the korma didn't taste quite right... Other than that, it was good.

I am disabled and ordered my food. I found that my order was for collection not for delivery. I contacted Indus and spoke to a very helpful and polite gentleman who helped me sort out my problem. My rearranged food was delivered on time by a pleasant young man who was very thoughtful response

First time we have booked a takeaway from Indus - everything was delicious. We missed an item, but just rang to add to order and everything was delivered by a very friendly gentleman. Certainly will be ordering again. Have to say was nearly put off by a couple of bad reviews, thank goodness we ignored them.

Delicious always delicious best Indian in the Bay. Passanda and rogan are my top 2, good veggie choice lots of nann choices. Cheese and garlic nann is top tier. And the rice or nann idea is brilliant.

Driver was very polite. Not a massive meat content and wasn't impressed that there was a whole uncut onion in my jalfrazi and only 1 slither of a pepper. But the sauce was spot on as was the sauce in the Madras. Also the roti was abit thick.

Really like this place, the price is really reasonable, it's fast if you get takeaway and it's always delicious! We don't get Indian from anywhere else anymore!

Our order was missing some items that we'd paid for, called the shop to let them know and they promised it would be delivered as soon as possible. That was at 10 past 8 it's now 9.40pm. Never turned up. Had problems here before with late delivery, decided to give them another chance but wish we hadn't bothered, will not be ordering again.

The food came early but was excellent. The driver was helpful and polite. Overall, a great experience.

Excellent food but delivered 1h 15 min before requested delivery time , we had literally only just got in , had to feed younglings dinner etc before we had ours, time we finally got to eat it was stone cold due to them not checking requested delivery time. Pity as the food once reheated tasted very nice .

Always ordered from this Indian they have been brilliant in the past but recently quality has gone down massively food late, cold food,wrong items soggy chips quality of food poor. called to say about wrong item said they will replace when I order next time it’s a shame but this will be the last time I order for them.

The Bombay potatoes are out of this world! So tasty and full of flavour! The chicken tikka masala was really creamy, amazing flavour not spicy tho, the chips were freezing cold and the garlic rice had some flavour but not amazing, overall I’m happy with my meal and the Bombay potatoes are enough for me to come back!

Disappointed after giving a full star awesome review previously. Just didn't seem as fresh as last time, the salad was dry, onion badji overcooked and dry like was reheated from previous night (ordered very early 5pm) my garlic chilli chicken last time was faultless but tonight some bits rubbery and dry but some bits fresh (maybe mixed in some of yesterday's left overs.... I dunno) poppadoms yummy as was rice. Shame because my last order (also my first order with Indus) persuaded me to use them again. Don't like to be too negative and always give credit when due, will try these again tho just to see if its a one off.

Hot, tasty, good sized portions.

Ordered on Monday night (27th). Our order was accepted at 18:45 and so we waited until the latest estimated delivery time (19:45). We then sent a message via the app asking about our food. The restaurant replied at 20:00 saying it would be with us in fifteen minutes. At around 20:15 the restaurant went offline on the Just Eat app. We tried phoning multiple times but the restaurant either let it ring out or sent us to voicemail. We eventually gave up at around 21:00 (we assumed they had closed) and ordered some alternative food. The food did eventually arrive and was fine but by then it was too late. We asked for some money back but the restaurant refused.

When ordering the wait time was 35-50 mins so we ordered as soon as order was placed the window for it to arrive was 2 hours and still turned up 35 mins past that window. Food was meh/cold the cheese naan was cold and cheese not even melted (not melted and cooled down) the strips of cheese were just placed on and not even attempted to be melted.
