As we are in lockdown it was a real treat to have an Indian Takeaway, my husband has eaten here many times and assured that it was great food. The takeaway didn’t disappoint. It arrived on time and was not and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend end. Thank you .

Our group paused for lunch in this wonderful room, decorated with colorful paintings of Indian-esque fantasies of long ago. Our luncheon was buffet style, not rushed, with views of the fountains just outside from our table. For those touring in groups this is a great option for a restful lunch away from the hubbub of the main restaurants.

I booked afternoon tea through a third part website which didn't advise me that I had to pay extra money to get into Blenheim, luckily I had already enquired about this or lese I would have been annoyed at having to pay extra to get in when I am there for Afternoon Tea. Secondly we had to park about half a mile from the palace which happened to be on the grass which was ringing wet. Myself and my friend were all done up in our nice shoes and outfits  however it was a nightmare having to walk to the palace. It was also raining and as it was so windy I was unable to use a umbrella, so by the time I got to the house we were wet I just don't understand why the people who are there for Afternoon Tea or dinner are not able to park out the front or there is not a buggy service to take you? thirdly once we got to the Orangery we were directed to our seats and our order was taken for tea etc. but after that we never saw the waiter again not even to ask us how our food was. I was really disappointed in the service we received and the quality of the food the sandwiches were quite dry and felt like they had been prepared for a while. For such a high class establishment with a good reputation and the fact that this afternoon cost little shy of a hundred pound this was far from how I expected my visit would be for my friends birthday.

As part of our tour of Blenheim Palace, my wife and I had an interesting lunch with our tour group in the Indian Room. She and I got vegetarian meals, which were fine. However, if we had known the alternative meal was salmon, one of us would have gotten that to split. The vegetarian meal consisted of a mushroom quiche, something with broccoli, and potato. We each had a couple of glasses of wine. Bread didn't come with the meal. The dessert was very unusual, with a meringue portion, a part that was like a light chocolate mousse, raspberry dots, and a lacy sugar figure. We found it very interesting, tasty, and different. The meal was followed by either tea or coffee; we got tea.

Booked through Red Letter Days and some confusion that I should have processed my ticket - I had confirmation the restaurant didn't. But we were quickly accommodated with no fuss overlooking the water terrace - the perfect setting. A lovely birthday treat for my Mum - we definitely needed the walk around the grounds afterwards!!

We initially booked the afternoon tea at the Orangery, but the room was changed last minute due to a wedding taking place. The Indian room is beautiful - restored to perfection. Everything was clean and tidy. After finally being seated (despite having booked), we decided to go for the champagne afternoon tea. Unfortunately the champagne was warm and therefore spoilt the taste. The sandwiches were a little stale and the scones fell apart. However the cakes were delicious and unique. Staff, although polite, were not very helpful or knowledgeable. No one came to clear the empty champagne glasses or tea pots, so the table was quite clattered. We only received one refilled tea pot and that was after trying to get one of the waiters attention for 15min. The beverage tray was dumped on our table without an explanation of what the different cakes were. Considering we went as a Birthday treat, this afternoon tea is only very average compared to others we have been to. Would I go again? Probably not.

Had a change of room for afternoon tea due to a wedding booking. We arrived early and the lady apologised that we would have a wait although we had booked, but compensated by offering us a glass of champagne, which was gratefully accepted. We had to wait a bit for the plate of delicious sandwiches and cakes but must say it was very enjoyable when it arrived. The staff were very polite and we were well looked after. We had a lovely afternoon and would recommend the afternoon tea. We were only charged for one afternoon tea as we had to wait, which we thought was a very nice gesture from them. We said it was not a problem we had all afternoon but she was very insistent. We had such a lovely day here and cannot wait to visit again.

By the time we'd finished our tour of the Palace we were ready for a sit down and the Indian Room was nicely at hand to enjoy a welcome cup of coffee. Since we visited on a bank holiday weekend the place was busy - only to be expected: however, the area was unexpectedly chaotic. The cafe had a peculiar lay-out with customers and staff having to manoeuvre with trays of food, hot drinks, etc not only past each other but around islands displaying snacks and cakes, queues for self-service coffee/tea dispensers and cash desks in the middle of the cramped space. The coffee was ok but getting it and delivering it to a table felt like doing a round of "The Crystal Maze" and, although the hot food looked tempting we decided that it would not be worth the hassle of re-entering the scrummage! Congratulations to the staff who managed to do a surprisingly efficient job of claring tables etc and still remained pleasant and helpful under difficult circumstances. Probably a place to frequent in quieter times.

I had Blenheim entrance and afternoon tea given to me as a birthday present. This was a lovely experience. The tea choice was fantastic and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious. It was great to have everything served on lovely china. My criticisms are that the room was quite cold. It was a miserable day and the temperature had dropped outside, but it was still very cold in the room. Also, because of an upcoming craft fair, they were erecting tents outside the room so there was absolutely no view from the windows and it made the room very dark - quite disappointing when it could have been a lovely view. The waitress did apologise for the tents being there and moaned that they had to put up with it until mid-November! A nice touch was that we could take home any uneaten cakes and these were beautifully packed up for us.

I bought a lunch voucher for £99 for two people which included entry to the house and garden (about £23 each), 3 course meal and a glass of champagne each.We were a little underwhelmed about the room, but the view of the garden was good. The food was very tasty and reasonable portions too. The main course fish and then sticky toffee pudding was great. The glass of champers was a good size, we expected to have about half a small glass but it was a full large glass. We ordered one glass of red and one of white afterwards which were nice and only about £3.75 each which was a surprise,we thought it would be much more. The only issue was that the glasses were very cheap and basic, why not have better glasses to match the standard of the rest. Maybe it was because we ordered the house wine? The staff were very friendly and we were not rushed.I would certainly go again.

Came here for afternoon tea - bought as a birthday present. The restaurant is at the back of the main coffee shop and shares views of the magnificent ornamental lakes and grounds. There is an extensive choice of teas available that arrive in teapots that are regularly refilled. At first sight, the tiered stand with sandwiches, cakes and scones looks dangerously understocked. However, the quantity is just right. Four different types of finger sandwiches, a scone with an enormous dollop of clotted cream and four small cakes. A perfect amount. Although, that didn't stop me asking for more sandwiches that were readily provided. The staff were really lovely - friendly, welcoming and attentive with plenty of fresh tea and extra bits if required. Can't pretend that the cakes and sandwiches are in the league of afternoon tea at the Savoy or the Vineyard but, nevertheless, a really excellent experience.

We were visiting Blenheim Palace and being around 12:30 we though of grabbing some lunch. I had read there was a formal restaurant called the Indian Room but was having trouble locating it then we spotted a small sign near a closed door. Maybe it was shut we thought but we tried the door and in we went, "Do you have a table for 2 for lunch" we asked? After a bit of discussion between staff we were shown to a table in an empty restaurant and after that rather hesitant start it was all good from then on.Being Sunday they were serving a carvery lunch with a choice between beef and pork. We plumbed for the beef and glad we did, good sized helpings and a complementary glass of champers, (real thing too). Young wait staff were excellent too and a some great views over the water terraces. A few other couples wandered in later on but the place was only 1/3rd full at best when we left. A larger sign or an open door might have drawn in more customers. Not easy to find, you have to walk through the Champagne bar to find it but well worth the effort ..

We were bought a voucher for a champagne 3 course dinner as a gift. We duly dressed up to address such an event and on arriving at Blenheim Palace we told all the staff that we were dining in the Indian Rooms - we were however directed to park in the muddy fields surrounding the palace. We then had to find our way through the mud - wrecking a new pair of shoes put on for the occasion to get to the Palace. On arrival at the palace the staff directed us to the wrong venue, but eventually we found the venue in what appeared an oasis of calm. This could be a very special experience, however being required to hand over our voucher before even sitting down, and then to sit in a room that is in need or upkeep staring at dirty windows the standard was set. Part frozen rolls, butter pads pushed out from standard catering packets was not a great start. The starter was actually very nice - but also amazing that one scallop can be sliced into 3! The mains we had were very tasty - one of us had the Fillet of Beef, which was delicious and the other had the lamb - by far the only highlights of the meal. The desserts were average and were something I would have expected in a chain pub. We tried to make the best of this as it had been brought with love - but I would not recommend any of the experience

I booked for 7 people for afternoon tea, weeks in advance for a special family birthday. They lost my booking (luckily I phoned to confirm on the day and they fit us in). The Indian room has been "under refurb" for months but it's not clear what they have done. Two walls were curtained off detracting from the overall effect somewhat. Both myself and my daughter noticed the carpet was a mess (surprising for her to notice!) but maybe that was because it was late afternoon. The service was achingly slow (five minutes plus for milk to go in our tea so we scoured tables for a jug!). We got the impression saturday staff were in, there was chaos in the kitchen, they ran out of cutlery, lengthening our wait for the table. Management were kind to sort out an internal misunderstanding of the discount scheme with the privilege card, it was being explained incorrectly at point of sale at the annual pass cabin and gave a generous refund of discount on the £170 bill (that was without the entry charge). I would advise you get email confirmation of an important booking as a precaution and have the patience of a saint and you will have a lovely time. We will go again as the palace is spectacular and extensive and well worth a second visit. Might give tea a miss.

Whilst I appreciate there is restoration underway, this was not known to us at the time of booking and it took away from the atmosphere of the room. Personally I found the service lacking, once the tea was at our table that was pretty much it until we got someone's attention to ask for the bill. The sandwiches were poorly cut and varied in size. Shame that you still have to pay to get into the Palace grounds when you have a reservation, but all became clear as the restaurants are franchised out to a chain catering company Searcys.Service was attentive although a bit slow, the online menu differed from the one given to us on arrival but the waitress told us what was sold out and that didn't appear on the menu anyway!Everyone in our group enjoyed the meal except for the cheese course which was frankly one of the worst I have ever had. The chef should be ashamed that such a finale to the meal was even on the menu. The crackers were ok. The celery and grapes were ok. The 4 measly scraps of cheese were like leather, clearly had been prepared hours (if not days) in advance and left out of a refrigerator. Inedible. Our tip reflected the disappointment, although the rest of the meal was fine. If you are eating in the Indian Room, avoid the cheese!

If you are expecting service to match the palatial surroundings, think again. The service sadly lets this place down.On arrival, having been shown to our table it was disconcerting to see previously occupied tables still laden with used cups etc., and were left like this for some time, even though there were staff hanging around not doing anything.Having ordered our tea, it then took an incredible amount of time before it came, and then, another 10-15 minutes before the food arrived.Staff were inattentive in that they were obviously having a good conversation in the entrance area and far too busy to ask how things were or if anyone wanted their teapots replenished. Along with at least three other couples, we had to get the attention of staff and ask for more tea, and for fresh cups (we were having a different brand of tea the second time and the two woudl not have mixed!).Cakes were OK, but nothing special, and the fruit cake so dry my wife didn't eat it.The waiters in the general cafe were better dressed than in this exclusive room too, wearing ties and aprons, but here rolled up sleeves and open neck shirt. There were no spoons to use for the jam or cream on the scones, whcih is no great deal but to be honest you would expect service to be much better in such an establishment. For the money there are better places to go for a traditional afternoon tea.Note also, that entrance to the grounds is no included and therefore makes this a very expensive venue for afternoon tea.

The Indian Room was difficult to find because it is sort of tucked behind the Water Terrace Cafeteria. However, once we were directed to the right place, the waiting staff were very polite and helpful and both the service and the food were excellent. My husband had smoked salmon to start, while I had the goats cheese tart. My starter was actually a disk of flakey pastry with 2 disks of goats cheese on top and the pastry was so flakey it was almost impossible to eat. It was very tasty though and the accompanying red onion marmalade was delicious. For main, we both had steak, which came with a mound of giant triple cooked chips, an onion ring and a heap of rocket. The steak was wonderful; so tender and tasty. My champagne was also of good quality, as was the glass of house red that my husband had. For dessert, my husband had a rhubarb and red berry pavlova and I had the chocolate pot, which came with biscotti and a few bits of soft fruit and was also delicious. The price of the champagne lunch includes either a glass of champagne or house wine, and also tea/coffee at the end of the meal, so although this is not a cheap meal, it is certainly good value.

I have addded a full review on the Blennheim Palace attraction but the tea room is definitely worth a visit and taste some unusal teas that you possibly wouldn't normally try. The food is lovely and the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and new about the teas that were on the menu. Even though they should have closed they still served us as they were so busy the day we went and we hadnt re-booked a table, we were very grateful for that as we travelled there in our classic car due to it being our 1st wedding anniversary. The weather was fantastic which made it all the more special and we were able to walk the grounds of the palace which was lovely and peaceful especially in the secret garden. It is well worth a visit.

The Indian room was well managed/served by Katie and Vicky. The Champagne lunch was part of a Virgin Experience package for a special occasion so I was a little apprehensive about the food but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food actually was. Although it was only for two courses you could not resist paying the extra for the deserts which at around £4 extra each was not going to break the bank. All the portions were good value , the rib eye steak melted in your mouth, the triple cooked chips were so fluffy, and the sticky toffee pudding is a must for those with a sweet tooth. I would definitely book there again if only to enjoy the peace and quiet of a civilised meal and escape the crowds in the other food locations. If visiting book ahead as the Indian room is small and you will be very disappointed if you turn up on the day expecting a table.

This restaurant will never ever have a Michelin star.... but if you are visiting Blenheim palace, can afford a reasonable meal and want to eat very tasty British food in a lovely Indian frescoed environment, then this is perfect. The service was first class, our table had a tremendous view of fountains, and the food was surprisingly scrumptious. I had the goats cheese tart, Pork Belly and the Pavlova, all washed down with a little champagne...and for the two of us it was around 30 pounds per head. Few of us get to live in a large stately home, but for that 60 minutes i felt like i was...... Book ahead for the window seats though..

I decided a long time ago never to work on my birthday and to always have a treat. This year I decided on a champagne lunch but I do not understand why there are egg sandwiches on an afternoon tea at most hotels ! ( eggs are not a celebration meal !)So an internet search bought up the Indian Room at Belnheim palace and I booked three of us in for a three course meal with champagne - £28.50 each, not knowing what to expect really but by booking the meal, we also got discounted admission to the Palace and gardens. Our meal was wonderful, the Indian room is beautiful and looks out on to the gardens. There was a choice of four options for each course and either complimentary glass of house champagne, or house red or white wine.We all had different choices and hubby paid extra £2.50 for the rib eye steak which came with possibly the best chunky chips ever ( just not quite as good as my mums ! ).I had Salmon and champ and daughter had pork belly. The cheese board was gorgeous, four cheeses, crackers, celery, grapes and I think it was wine preserve. Our waitress was very nice and I have to say , this treat made my birthdayBy booking in advance, we received a gift certificate, which we simply exchanged on the day.

As a special treat for my partner's birthday I booked the entrance to Blenheim Palace and Sunday lunch in the Indian Room package. It wasn't cheap but it was well worth every penny. Food choice was great and cooked to perfection. Service was fabulous. Drink prices were very reasonable. All in all a great lunch in a wonderful setting. Would do this again for a treat.
