While lodging across the street, we stumbled upon Cafe Le Raj by chance. The staff greeted us warmly and offered helpful suggestions. Upon their recommendation, we tried the Papadum set for an appetizer, which turned out to be a delightful surprise—refreshing and delicious; even our three-year-old enjoyed it. For our main course, we opted for the lamb balti, which was cooked to perfection in a flavorful curry sauce. The portion sizes were generous, almost too much to finish; we could have easily shared. The final bill was pleasantly affordable, though I mistakenly assumed the service charge was included. Upon leaving, I realized my oversight regarding tipping culture, and I regretted not inquiring about it earlier. Despite this, I wholeheartedly endorse this restaurant for its exceptional service and delicious food.

Stumbled across this place whilst staying at Premier Inn around corner. What a find! Great menu, excellent food. Good recommendations from waiter when unsure what to order. Food fresh and tasty, plentiful, lots of fresh herbs too. Was a bit quiet, but was a Sunday eve. Choice of beers. Great value too. Highly recommend. Will definitely return if in the area.

Takeaway customers seemed to have priority over diners

One of our our favourite places to eat when visiting chipping norton, the Indian food is amazing in fact we frequent brick lane quite a bit but here surpasses in terms of quality and taste. V friendly staff too!

Woo, what a find, we visited "Chippy" this week, and fancied some Indian food, it's was terrific, not just my view, but locals .. Any restaurant in a smaller town with twenty covers by 7pm on a Tuesday night has to be doing something right! I had the tandoori chicken, and some channel masala both perfect, my wife had the lamb biryani again really good. Going back to sample the special Chippy menu soon!! August 23, six months after the above review back again!! Tuesday nights highly recommend

Good to eat in or for a takeaway

Don’t order Chicken tikka , its the worst tikka i have ever eaten.. Madras chicken is just a normal chilli curry, nothing special. Naan is overly thick.. not fresh ..

Great food, not expensive and really helpful staff. Menu is very good 👍we couldn't get a taxi back to the hotel, so the manager took us back, how's that for service 😀

Stopped in there late last night & had Lamb Mango & Prawn Rogon Josh. Absolutely first class flavours. Loved it. Yum! Even the poppadom relishes tray was great :)

As a family of four we went to the Cafe Le Raj on March 1st. We all had lovely meals and great service from all the staff there. We would highly recommend.

Food was nice but the tikka massala had 4 chicken pieces in it, the lamb had just as much and the saag aloo was all potatoes, hardly any spinach. Probably a better experience if you eat in. Had better.

Hi really sorry but we have been waiting over two hours we get you are busy but this is the second chance again you left los of food off last time

Food never showed up. Called after 1 hour to ask where it was, they said the driver was 7 minutes away. Called again 25 mins after that call, and they said they don’t know where the driver and would find out. Didn’t get a call back so called again, they said they don’t know if the driver had a problem with the car maybe. Won’t be returning here. This was over 2 hours after ordering. Terrible customer service and still trying to get money back.

Ordered takeaway food was hot on delivery and delivery was on time, all the food we had was lovely full of Indian tastes and the chicken in the curry was good quality and nice size pieces. I ate the whole lot and now I'm full thank you. Reccomend and will be back.

Had this takeaway many times whilst working in the area. They even gave me extra for the inconvenience of waiting 5 minutes longer Always great food, with quality ingredients 👍

The Threvuje is a sublime dish a very close 2nd to ra ra gosh, which unfortunately they don't do here. That said Threvjue is a very close 2nd

Was visiting the area for Christmas. Loved this little restaurant. Would certainly visit again if I lived in the area. My sister and brother-in-law Who were with me said that they would definitely visit again and also recommend.

Excellent food!! The chicken lemongrass curry was the best I have had. My partner had the murgh jalfrezi which he said was delicious. The flavour and spice level of each dish was fresh and very tasty. The poppadom and chutney starter was excellent value and we loved the coconut and mango dip. We highly recommend.

Dined in - food was average,, not so flavoursome. My wife had a dirty plate and cutlery which was quickly swapped out. It wasnt great but wasn't terrible hence the 3 stars. Would probably visit again at some point but won't be rushing back.

Wish I could put 0 thought I’d try something new on holiday and was served pink chicken asked for new food which they did only for it to be pink again went back to get a refund and they basically argued with me about it until they finally caved and gave me a refund will not be going here again will be reporting to EHO

Few weeks ago I ordered from them to be delivered to Great Rollright. I did not get the deliver after one hour and so I had to call them few times until they finally answered. The person on the phone said “its on its way”. One hour later, I call them again to check on the status of the food I ordered. It took them more than 2 hours to deliver something that should have taken maximum 10min. We were so hungry and when we opened the package, we were so disappointed to find out we did not receive the favorite butter chicken we ordered and instead we received chicken korma. The food was mediocre at the max. This is way overpriced for what it is. I will never order from here again.

Simply the best takeaway in chippy

Below average food. Expensive for what you get. I and some friends ate here in June 2022 after being persuaded by the good reviews. We all had the chicken jalfrezi. The sauce was bland and pale and pretty tasteless and totally drowned by the hot green chillies, unlike any jalfrezi I've had before. I didn't enjoy the meal. The peshwari nan was unusual too - pale and filled with a thin paste. No sultanas or raisins. My diet coke was flat/lacking fizz - I noticed on a visit to the loo that they pour it from 2 litre bottles. Double check your bill - ours was hand written in partly indecipherable code. I won't be going back.

Our favourite curry place in its area it has never let us down.

Sadly, I went off the 4+ star rating, but I’m not sure what the hype is. No allergy information on the menu and staff that don’t seem to understand allergies or allergens. Replying with ‘I don’t know’ left me baffled. It’s the law to provide allergen information. On top of this, slow service and average food. Went to pick up a take away and had to wait at least half an hour on top of the time specified. How this place has such a good rating is beyond me. Safe to say that I won’t be back.

Really good service with a great selection of food available. But then the food arrives... Oh my good what incredible flavours and textures. Such impressive mastery of the food. One of the best indians I've had in the UK.

Staff were accommodateing and generous. Vegetable dishes are reasonably priced. Decent quality food, home cooked style. The menu could do with a considered and inclusive dietary key i.e vegan, vegetarian, gluten, fish etc...

Zero stars as they just lied about being able to provide a meal that was dairy free. They should be reported.

The staff were very friendly and literally as soon as you enter are ready to offer poppadoms and drinks. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Also the prices were reasonable. Would definitely eat here again.

Just had a meal with the wife. Absolutely delicious. By turning down the heat a notch the flavours are allowed to the fore and everything was so tasty. Plus cold cold Kingfisher on tap. Recommended.

I was charged for food that never arrived and staff was not willing or able to help me find a solution

We visited on 4th December for a Xmas party, not very impressed at all, food came out warm not hot, all other tables had heat warmers on table, we didn't, when we asked why it was because we had a large table, should this make a difference i think not. Service not particularly good either. When I said to the waiter I would write a review, he basically begged me not to, but offered a free meal, I don't think so, needless to say I won't be revisiting .

Wonderful service as well as really good food. This turned out to be a really lovely meal.

Food was good, with good portions too. No rush to kick you out, we had a 19:30 reservation and didn't feel under pressure to leave at any time. Very relaxed atmosphere although background music was a bit intermittent. Unassuming from the outside but definitely venture in.

First time order online this weekend and absolutely brilliant. My personal level is Korma which two of us ordered, another chose tikka and the usual additions. Great sizes of perfectly cooked chicken without doubt. Delivery driver was both early and thoroughly pleasant. It'll be top of the list for future orders. Paid online without issue but note there is no "tipping" option online so have a note or a few coins around for the driver! :)

I came on the Bank Holiday weekend with 3 friends. Excellent, friendly service and good food - exactly what you would want from a curry, and the naan in particular are really good. Will definitely return

One of the best curry takeaways around here

Food arrived luke warm despite being less than a mile away. Naan was very dry and would assume was cooked from the previous day. Some pieces of chicken were hard and dry again assuming it’s day old food.

Never been to Dine there, but Takeaways are Excellent, Friendly Staff, and people i know who have eaten there love it.

Visiting Chipping Norton and went here tonight with family inc 3 kids. Screens in place for social distancing and very polite and attentive staff. Good food at a fair price. Would definitely eat here again. 👍

Absolutely no social distancing, packed restaraunt, drunks waiting at the bar, as more people turned up tables were being split and moved closer together so they could get more people in. I could see at least 50 cm between one table, the person eating at the next table had to push the table further away himself. No phone numbers were taken of anyone. Some members of staff had no face protection on. The food was not up to the usual standard all in all not a very pleasant experience.

Absolutely fabulous. Great friendly staff and food out of this world. Can honestly say best Indian we have had in a while. When back in Chipping Norton will defo be visiting Cafe Le Raj again. I wish the ratings could be 5* plus. They deserve it.

Hi i have had my first India from here and I cant eat spicy food. I ordered corma and tika masarla. As I know this is mild. But unfortunately could not eat as far too hot my mouth and lips were burning. Will not be ordering there again.

We stumbled upon this local restaurant on the way to the supermarket and saw a lot of people coming out with takeaway. So we thought we’d have a look as we needed dinner anyway. We were pleasantly greeted by Salman and his staff. Definitely abiding by government recommendations sanitisers and all available. The service was amazing offered poppadoms and all the trimmings while reading the menu. We even got an NHS discount on our entire bill. The lamb sagg was delicious we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Even without the discount the prices are great. I’d definitely return!

It’s great that the lockdown has been lifted, I can now go back to my favourite Indian restaurant. They are now better than ever! This is a wonderful little spot in Chipping Norton. The best poppadoms I have ever had! The Sabzi biryani is to die for! Would highly recommend. Salman was great to us and attentive to all our needs. When I’m back in Chipping Norton, this is my first stop!
