We've been here a number of times but not recently as we're always on a bit of a budget and usually only eat out as a treat. We visited a week or so ago as part of the 'eat out to help out'scheme and had an absolutely amazing meal. There were 4 adults and 1 older child in our group and we all love Indian food but this meal really impressed us. 3 of the group ordered the set menu and 2 of us ordered from the main menu, with all of us having a different main. Everything was so delicious and the portions were a good size. The service was good too, if a little slow, but we were in a bit of a rush so I think that's why we noticed it. We had a great time and have just booked again for next week while the scheme is still running. If we could afford to eat out more often, we'd definitely be coming here regularly.

I understand the job is stressful, but the way the driver talked to me was not acceptable. He claimed he waited for 10minutes - he certainly did not ring as I had requested him to. I have evidence of this if required. The abuse I received was not acceptable and not deserved. Please improve your professionalism.

ate here recently mid week in the evening with family visiting the uni. I took the king prawn Korma, my guest a vegetarian dhansak. I would rate my dish as poor at best , however the vegetarian meal was much better, but still only average or so. The Korma sauce was without flavor, the prawns were somewhat shredded, therefore were not visibly prawns..... could have been prawn flavoured fish / or cray fish. Service was slow for a very quiet evening ( 2 other parties in ) , the restaurant on the 1st floor also echo's with the conversations of the diners. Even with only 11 people ion the room it was difficult to hold a sensible conversation. Portion size is on the smaller side than I would expect,. However £25 for 2 mains courses and soft drinks / popadoms wasn't bad. I guess the Indian Ocean is competing for a different / student / low cost market than I am used to, so the p[lace may have been average in rating for the local area. I just know it was not for me, will not return.

8th June 2019, three of us visited the Indian Ocean restaurant. This is a non alcohol serving restaurant, which we already were aware of. On the way we purchased a beer and bottle of wine to go along with our meal. The first surprise, we were not charged corkage; excellent on behalf of the restaurant. Upon climbing the stairs you are welcomed into a small, cosy restaurant. We had the table next to the large window, with views down the High Street. Can recommend this seat if you want to watch the world going by. For starters it was popadoms and pickles; well, it would be rude not too! Normally we would select three different meals, to taste the different flavours. This time we had two Naga chickens and one lamb pepper, chilli. Accompanied with three chapattis, one garlic nan and one pilau rice. The portion of lamb was large compared to the chicken dish portions. However, the flavours of both dishes were excellent. The after taste infused our taste buds. Our bill for three of us was £41.35, most impressive for the quality of food and service. If there is a down sit side; maybe bring out the main course a little later and let the customer relax a while after their starter.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted with great service. Decided to try here as i’d heard nothing but good things about the food. It didn’t disappoint! We ordered from the banquet menu which was 4 courses for £10 each. We were worried the dishes would be smaller but we were stuffed. Poppadoms, mixed starter, a curry and a choice of rice or naan. The waiter was very attentive and very polite. Even though the restaurant is quite small, it was a really nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning:)

When we went here it is very small so suggest booking but because it is so small the food is amazing as they can concentrate on the customers even though there was takeaways going out. One of the best curry houses in Loughborough. Also its great as its bring your own alcohol !! Cannot wait to go back and try the banquet deal and for the price I cannot see who wouldn't its just a same we didn't go on that night.

The staff there are so friendly,going above and beyond what is expected of them. The manager let us hire the whole place and gave us amazing prices and wonderful customer service. Couldn't recommend enough!

I only ever eat Indian food from here as other places do not compare. Great price for great food. Lovely staff and I've always ended my night feeling full and satisfied. Simply brilliant!

Was on caravan holiday last week Sutton Bonington, found this place on the internet. We were that impressed with the Tuesday to Thursday banquet, we returned for another one. (luvly) and crackin' price. Highly recommended. Try it.

We've eaten in at Indian Ocean lots in the past, and it's always great food at reasonable prices. This was our first time ordering delivery from them and the food arrived almost 2 hours after we ordered, and half an hour after the delivery time stated. We ordered a daal as a side that tasted burnt, but after calling the restaurant they promised a free side the next time we order to the same address. Overall a little disappointed because it wasn't up to the usual standard, but the rest of the food was excellent and they were polite and helpful over the phone

20 mins late, so not a good start. Food piping hot and very tasty. I had a King Prawn curry and my wife had a Chicken Tikka. Far too much sauce for my liking and not enough prawns or chicken, most of the sauce went down the sink.

Best curry in Loughborough. These guys are always early with delivery, food always tastes amazing abd is brilliant value, and they quite often throw in a little extra as well. Cannot fault them. Thank you 😊

Although great tasting, the lamb was far from "tender" as advertised, it was extremely chewy, fatty and lacking in flavour. The order otherwise was enjoyable but not mind blowing.

I am not going to wrap this review in excellent rhetoric. Essentially the food was excellent, most excellent. The excellent service echoed the quality of the excellent food, and the price was quite acceptable!

Was alright.... but thats it really wasnt blown away the standout bit was the samosas everything else was not great.

Can’t go lower than 1 rating. How bad can a delivery service be, not only biblically late, food cold and was like dog food. Sorry but never chewed so much gristle in lamb, you should be ashamed....if u want to survive in this town up your game 🤢

After a hard week at work my husband and I like to meet up on a Friday and have a catch up over meal.

Delivery was quick, however the food wasn’t very hot and tge actual curry was very watery, there were puddles of water when you moved the rice aside, disappointing really.

We all really enjoyed our takeaway. We are vegetarian and choice was fab . The curry was spot on, Naan delicious and the rice full of flavour. A very nice meal and would definitely order again.

What can I say, can not rate highly enough this place. It has been many years since I have eaten here, previously was the Far Pavilion. With arguably one of the best views of Loughborough. Party of 12 of us, were all seated together, and food was outstanding. All came out together, and not an excessive wait either. Husband reckons it was the best curry he has had in years and I agree with him. It is bring your own alcohol so makes for a very good value evening out. We will be back soon!

I went to the Indian Ocean last night for a meal. The place was virtually empty except for 1 table. We went for the 4 course banquet menu. For the main we both ordered lamb Jalfrezzi. When it arrived at the table I was shocked to see the colour of the dish. It looked just like gravy for my Sunday roast. In all the years, in various restaurants,I have never ever seen it in this colour. The taste was nothing like what it should be. To be honest- it was awful. I complained to the waiter but nothing came of it. I will NOT be going there again even if I was paid to do so

Visited a week a go and we were very impressed! We went on a wednesday so the 'midweek banquet' was available. For £8.95 per person we recieved popodaoms with a large selection of chutneys, a starter each (chicken tikka and onion bhaji), a choice of 2 mains from an extensive choice and a side each (rice or naan). The portions were large for the price paid and the quality was exceptional. One of the best Indians we have ever had!

The service at this restaurant is welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is really nice: crisp poppadoms, lovely light nan breads and excellently rice. All of the starters and main dishes were tasty and as described. The restaurant is nicely presented with modern clean toilets. You are able to bring your own beer and wine which keeps down the cost at an already very reasonably priced restaurant. This establishment is now our Indian restaurant of choice

Food was piping hot and tasted fantastic! Service was first class and they also threw in extra food! Driver was friendly even after waiting a while at the door! Thanks for the pleasant experience! Highly recommended.

Visited for the first time since it reopened as a BYO. Must say the staff and food quality are superb. One of the best Indian meals I've eaten in a while. The chicken tikka jalfrezi was amazing. So good in fact i had it as a takeaway about 3 weeks later. Recommended to visit and I will return. Being a BYO it makes it super value. Staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you.

The chicken tikka wasn't tikka. Then my partner ordered a tikka Madras and it wasn't eat able. Very disappointed considering I spent £31.

Love their coffee, muffins, pancakes. Always cheerful service, cleanliness and price. However, we do not eat burgers, anywhere.

Biryani let the whole order Down. Roti portion is small in compare to curry. Curry was very tasty. They even gave me complimentary onion bhaji which was alright. All in all I will only order curry from nowonwards from here, If I may. I have a special request for them please make tasty biryani and let us now somehow, I will surely order biryani again to check. Only handful of restaurants in UK can do tasty Karachi biryani. Forget about customer service.

Estábamos buscando un buen restaurante indio en el centro de Loughborough y a corta distancia, y esto es lo que encontramos. Desde afuera se estaba buscando realmente buena, pero los interiores necesitan un poco de trabajo. He leído otros comentarios que la comida es buena, pero nuestra experiencia no fue muy buena.

This is the worst takeaway experience I have ever encountered. We were left waiting for an hour and twenty minutes and when our food finally arrived we were missing several items off the order. After ringing to correct this, we had to wait a further 35 minutes for the additional orders to arrive. I was spoken to in a very poor manner and will not be ordering from Indian Ocean in the future.

Food was cold not much chicken in tika. But nice taste.

El personal era muy amable y tomó nuestra orden de bebidas y ellos sirvieron rápidamente, el proyecto Mangosta siendo delicioso. Bhaji de cebolla relleno entrantes eran pimienta y optamos por el cordero y el pollo trawa pillau bengala acompañados de arroz y patatas fritas. Grandes porciones, la comida deliciosa y excelente relación calidad-precio. Por el momento dejamos el restaurante estaba lleno. Sin duda lo recomiendo.

Indian Ocean is my favourite curry house in Loughborough. The delivery was quick and the food was hot. The only slight complaint I have is the naan was a bit soggy

A fab meal everytime we order which is normally at least once a week. Usually always delivered at a great time, but if it has ever been slightly late, it is always worth the wait. Would highly recommend

A group of 9 of us dined here recently as a leaving 'do' for my husband who was celebrating leaving his current job. We only live 15 mins away so we've eaten here with our 8 year old son, a dozen or so times before (it's his favourite place to eat!). The food has consistently been excellent, with more focus on delicious flavours rather than just making the meals as hot as possible (which is our experience with some other Indian restaurants). All in the party loved their food, most of whom hadn't eaten there before. The staff were friendly too, as usual, without being too attentive. I had the chicken tikka for a starter, then the chicken tawa as a main, both of which were delicious. Every time we bring friends here, they love it as much as us. Thank you Indian Ocean for such lovely food!

I have visited couple of times I appreciate service and food here. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad too. It 8s one among good Indian restaurants in Loughborough.

Meal : orderd. Chutney tray (3 dips) and only got given 2 pots that were less than half full. The main course jalfrezi I orderd was like barley no chicken I think I counted like 3 pieces. Also the tomoto was sliced massively into giant pieces . Worst meal I've had will not be using again

Meal was excellent quality and not expensive, delivery was fast. My flats awkward to get to and I have never had a delivery driver that has correctly followed delivery instructions, very good!

The food came quickly, but my god I ordered a mixed kebab and a lamb curry. The lamb is so tough I cannot eat it. I am having the throw both the pieces of lamb from the mixed kebab and all the meat in the curry away because I literally cannot chew it enough to swallow it. So I'm left with two small pieces of chicken and some boiled rice. Definitely not worth the 13 pounds I just paid.

Very disappointing curry. Had the Mint chicken, couldn't taste the mint at all. Described as medium heat, but no spice what so ever. Swimming in oil and mushy onions but the chicken was nice. Basically picked out the chicken and left the curry. Rice was good and so was the naan. Quick delivery but won't be ordering again.

This place looks quite inviting from the outside. Inside, it is a different matter. The mock-leather chairs are probably the only hint of style. The absence of a candle, vase or any other type of table ornament gives a hint at what to expect when the food arrives. The menu covers all the bases. All the favourites are there, plus a good selection of house specials, but the chicken tawa and saag aloo I had was bulk standard. The food was well presented and served in double-quick time, but I was the only person in the restaurant at the time. In short, my experience was quite unremarkable. I went in for a curry and came out having had one. Can't say any more than that. Sorry.

Good food reasonable price popped in on the off chance service was a tiny bit slow but not too bad well worth a visit

A few months on and we found ourselves back in Loughborough...which naturally meant a trip to the Indian Ocean was on the cards once again. To recap, we were in town last time for 4/5 nights and we ended up at this restaurant on two of them.The staff were as helpful as ever, making recommendations where prompted and generally acting very courteous. We had a member of the group who was relatively new to Indian food, but our waiter was very patient with her and made a few good recommendations. It's nice to see that the prices haven't increased either. They still do tastecard, so a good sized meal for five of us came to just £55, and that's including drinks and starters. The quality hasn't dipped either; I would personally recommend the bhuna dishes, which never disappoint. It comes with a freshly made naan bread as well- you don;t get as much meat as you might like, but at £7 (or just under) there's no real cause for complaint. Another hit for Indian Ocean, we look forward to our next visit!

I LOVE Indian Ocean. Whether I'm wanting a takeaway for myself, myself and my partner or a group of friends, it's one of my top spots. I have only been into the restaurant once but it was divine! Service was great, food delicious and very nicely presented, and the drinks were reasonably priced.I normally get takeaway from here as it is my favourite Indian in town. Just this week I ordered my favourite curry, a Lamb Tikka Makhani with a garlic naan, bottle of coke and a lamb dansak for my boyfriend. The food itself was great- I love how they always send the poppadoms and dips, especially because the mint yoghurt one goes so well with everything! However, the delivery man was SO rude! He banged heavily on the front door to my house which luckily is my bedroom or he would have woken someone else up, thereby clearly ignoring the instructions left for him and the sign on my window. After knocking twice heavily, I called to him to come around the back. He came, asked for my name, handed me the food and was off. Usually delivery men check everything is there with you first and he didn't. And of course he missed the bottle of coke.We tried calling the restaurant but kept getting the voicemail so while we enjoyed our food, a word of warning about the potentially rude delivery men!

Visited the Indian Ocean a couple of years ago whilst looking at the university, as we were back in town we thought we'd make a return.We pre-booked (not needed as it was reasonably quiet) and had a warm welcome on our arrival and quickly asked for our drinks order. There were a number of dishes that we new to us on the menu and the staff were very happy to talk us through them4 starters, 4 main meals with rice, bread and vegetables all very tasty and well presented. £85 bill including a couple of rounds of drinks was in my opinion great value for money.

The meal was amazing. So much flavor and cooked to perfection. Will recomend and order again very soon. Very good service aswell

We ate here and didn't enjoy it at all. The poppadoms for a start were STALE. These were just a sign of what was to come I'm afraid. None of our meal could be classed as tasty. It was all so very bland. We eat in Indian restaurants a lot and we weren't impressed with the waiter either. We had to try and get his attention many times, even just to order our food. I would never go back here.

Called in here at refusal for indian up the road. Made welcome without a booking. Meal was excellent value for money, prompt polite service and beer at very good price.. will be back.

We were visiting Loughborough for the weekend and were just passing through town, looking for a place to eat, when the Indian Ocean caught our eye. With the only other curry place in sight being the considerably more expensive Salim's down the road, we opted for this one.The two of us were given a warm welcome and were quickly seated. The waiter who dealt with us was very accommodating throughout without ever being overbearing, and was happy to answer any queries we had about dishes we were unfamiliar with. On this occasion, we went straight for mains, given that it was quite late (although the poppadoms we had before were as warm and fresh as any I've tasted). I ordered the lamb tikka jalfrezi, with chillies and spices balancing the richness of the sauce as well as adding a bit of heat; surprisingly good for the £6.95 asking price. My companion ordered the vegetarian balti dish, which came with a plain naan included and was served in a lovely sauce. Again, a great dish considering the price of under £7. It's not the best Indian you'll ever go to, the décor is warm yet simplistic, but what does that matter when the food is great, the service is faultless and you can walk out happy for less than £15 a head? In case I hadn't mentioned, it's also a tastecard restaurant, which means you can pay a trip to one of the best curry houses in the area for an incredibly low price. For a casual, cheap, very tasty curry, I don't think you'll find a better place in Loughborough.

We nipped in off the cuff, no booking, hadn't really thought about what to eat. It was a Tuesday night and the only traffic through the place was from the take away menu when we arrived.We chose our own table and had a couple of beers, followed by obligatory dips and popadums, then into the main course - a tandoor cooked chicken, cooked just he way Paul asked, and a Chicken Karahi loaded with onions and peppers that was very tasty.All in all an enjoyable 90 minutes was passed and by the time we left a few more folks had trawled in and plenty of takeaways had headed out.No doubt we will use it again.

We were desperate for a curry and glad we found this place. We started with a shared onion barji... Very nice.For mains i had a house special - Naka chicken, nicely hot and spicy. The missus had her usual king prawn korma which was again very good. The breads were ok but not the greatest. Just had the leftovers and again very impressed.

Biriyani 3/5, Mutter Paneer 2.5/5, Peshawari Naan 3/5.

Made a last minute large group booking here last night but they accommodated us brilliantly; good food, no delays, friendly service. Very glad we found it.

Food was delivered an hour late... Would expect some kind of offer as an apology. Food was still really good though, but not worth waiting an extra for over other places.

We ordered a take-away and were told it would be 45 minutes. After a hour and a half they hadn't turned up. We tried ringing several times but the phone just rang out. After 2hrs they finally turned up. We sent them away. We will never use them again.

Very nice food. I normally order the medium chilli chicken tikka masala, on this occasion it was a lot spicer than usual, made me sweat! But still good quality meat and nice rice too. I was a little disappointed with the naan, not much flavour or filling. But I like the food here overall

Visited with family including young children. Food of good quality and very tasty (rather than being so spiced up it takes the flavour away) I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend, especially the crispy chicken. The only thing I would say was that one of the kids had a chicken tikka massala and it was a bit too mild (coconut) so ask for it medium if you're used to it just having a bit of kick. I notice people have complained about portion size. Unless you're greedy I think they are more than adequate and reasonably priced, even drinks which you usually get robbed for at Indian restaurants.

Having had 3 curries in 2 weeks I can safely say I loved this place. The value for money was amazing, the staff attentive and service was excellent.

Where do I begin? - Actually, I'll start with the positives, scratch that, the positive. The Bhuna I had was nice tasting and had a decent amount of meat. The Rice was so bland and tasteless I myself could have made better - Note to Indian Ocean (just because it is colourful doesn't make it tasteful) Additionally, the Korma we had tasted like coconut water and again I could have made better myself. I understand there are pressures of cooking on Friday night for many people, but this food was simply not worth buying let alone spending more than competing restaurants such as Mount Gurkha who also give you twice as much curry. In conclusion, waste of money and would not recommend to anybody.
