The worst chicken Rogan Josh I've ever had. Just chicken with a tin of chopped tomatoes poured over it! Maybe the chef's specials menu is better, but there's no excuse for this poor attempt at Indian food, I can cook much better myself. Service was great though and they were very kind to my mum.

The food is always of a good standard. However, don't expect your delivery to be on time. Our food is actively delivered late by 15 mins every time. Today our delivery driver was sent to the wrong place meaning our food was an hour late. Because of this, some of it was only just warm and not of the best quality. Delivery drivers are always nice but never apologise for the wait.

We visited on Saturday night as a group of 21 for birthday celebrations. We were seated in the restaurant on a long table by the bar area, which we had to ourselves. The servers were very friendly and drinks orders were swiftly taken / quick to arrive. Whilst our food was cooked (pre-ordered) we had poppadoms and dips (very nice), whilst waiting for the mains to arrive the staff were very attentive checking in regularly for drinks and bringing more poppadoms when we ran out. The food took about 40 minutes to arrive, it was a little chaotic trying to get the right food to the right people (understandably with a large group and beer involved!) however once we all had our food it was definatly worth the wait. The food was well presented, plentiful and tasted delicious. We had a variety of dishes from the mildest creamiest Passanda, tasty tikka and hotter dishes such as madras, alongside rice accompaniments and delicious homemade naan breads. (I forgot to take pics of the food as I tucked straight in!). We left a healthy tip to show our gratitude for the excellent food and service, and definatly some repeat custom coming their way. A great visit. Thank you Indian Village.

We had a takeaway. Everything was ok. The staff were friendly and the portions were acceptable. The food was pretty bog standard 2003 UK curry house stuff. Unfortunately with a place as good as Shapla just a stones throw away this really isn't good enough. Yes, India Village is a little cheaper but that is because it simply isn't anywhere near as good. The chicken dhansak was particularly underwhelming. A bit meh!

Have regularly used the establishment, but tonight's order was so bad, I phoned up politely telling the guy how bad the starter and main was, praising up to him that we have had nothing but great food before and could we have a replacement main and starter, he was very argumentative about everything and refused to replace the food .we had the other food for him to taste the acrid, vinegar tasting madras and prawn puree which had the heat of a vindaloo and the prawns the texture of bullets. We eventually got the main and starter replaced, not great by normal standards, so won't be using them again. Maybe a new chef/management?

First time ordering from here, heard good things about it (if you dine in) I got a delivery.. the delivery driver was so lovely, he apologised that he was given the wrong address by the business the first time.. so I assumed he had already attempted delivery at the wrong address before being told the correct address, so food wasn't hot. Ordered a lamb rogan josh and a lamb pathia, sag aloo, brinjal bhaji and keema naan.. pathia tasted of lemon and chilli, we have had many pathias in the past and none of them were sour from the lemon... the lamb in the rogan josh tasted like black pepper, the sauce was lovely but the lamb ruined the whole thing. The mushroom rice was lovely, sag aloo was great, Ordered a brinjal bhaji and not obergine but ocre... I called to make them aware of the issues and was told that a fresh rogan, pathia and brinjal would be delivered but only a pathia and brinjal arrived. I am type 1 diabetic (i ordered the rogan) and only get this as a very rare treat but was bitterly disappointed. I was laughed at when I told them the mistake THEY made and felt like I wasn't taken seriously. Over £30 spent on the original order and still feel ripped off. They did replace the pathia but same old issue as the last, lemony and sour!

I'm afraid to say that the curry I received from India Village was very poor, and one of the least enjoyable takeaway curries I have had in quite a few years. I ordered one of the Chef's Specialities: a Chicken Chilli Masala, described as a 'very hot dish cooked with fresh chilli & chilli powder in a thick curry sauce' - a common dish on Indian menus, and a favourite of mine. Straight out of the plastic tupperware container, however, there was a lot of sauce, but it looked oily and plain, and had a faint smell of bbq sauce - not exactly what I was expecting. Upon tasting it, I discovered that the sauce was not actually very hot/spicy at all, and that the fresh chilli was almost nowhere to be found. There were a lot of pieces of sliced onion in it; something not mentioned and that I do not personally appreciate in a curry - it is the first chilli chicken/garlic chilli chicken/chilli masala dish that I have experienced with that issue. Aside from that, the most disappointing aspect was that the gravy itself tasted of very little - seemingly un-spiced, and tasting completely flat, with really no texture, richness, or depth of flavour at all - it almost resembled a mixture of ketchup and bbq sauce with some chilli powder thrown in. I can only assume that said chilli powder is one of very few ingredients added to a presumably tomato base to impart flavour. The chicken itself was of an average quality at best, in an average quantity. It was well below what I would expect, and have experienced at other curry houses that offer similar menus at similar prices. This is the first time I have tried this restaurant, and I was very hungry and therefore very much looking forward to it. It is also not a *particularly* cheap menu, and taking all that into account, I was, as the title suggests, extremely disappointed. I certainly can't readily imagine a scenario where I would order from them again.

I received a curry that while reasonable in taste at best, a tenth of a potato the size of a two pence piece was all that was there in there despite it being a part of the dish. Worse still, the dish itself was rather miniscule and put in a razor thin plastic tub that was clearly not suited to this type of dish and on receipt of the dish, the plastic was not able to withstand the high temperatures and was flopping and bending in all directions due to the hot liquid inside. Questions over whether using this type of cheap thin plastic for hot dishes with the plastic in a semi melted state in hot liquids, is in fact safe clearly relevant. I have seen similar razor thin bendy plastic tubs in poundland at 30 for £1 and while it is understandable that profits are important, cutting corners at the expense of food safety in this skinflint manner is not acceptable. On a plus side, the small amount of curry was average at best with my number of stars reflecting careless packaging and a virtually non existent piece of potatoe as determining factors.

The Pasanda was very coconuty and I really liked the apricot init, when I mentioned this to the waiter he said let them know when we order next time and they can easily tailor the fish to my preference because nothing is pre-cooked. Today however our order was missing a keema naan, salad with the chef tandoori special and the popadums were smashed to bits. The restaurant offered to let me have a keema naan free of charge - however I would argue it is not free of charge, it is in fact something that I paid for! The food was cold and tasted very bland also. I don't know if it is new management but I would not be in a hurry to have food from here in the future. Food cold, Poppadoms stale and charged us extra. We decided to try India Village last week and although this first order was great we ordered the same again today and the price had gone up £4. When we spoke to the shop they said we were now over 5 miles away when we hadn't been the week before.... After trying to explain we were no way near 5 miles radius on google maps we were told that the route they took was! No apology or sorry just an argument so wont be ordering again.

Have eaten here a number of times over the years but this was the best. Group of 3, had a variety of food from across the menu. All food was excellent, tasty and full of flavour. Staff were attentive and always on hand if we needed anything. Would recommend the Bengal Murg.

We'd seen the reviews and thought we'd give it a try.Of our three evening meals it was easily the most expensive and wasn't the best.Nice staff .
