India Cottage Bridgwater in Sedgemoor

Sadly I used to use these regularly over the last few years until we had a issue. It's surprising how you take for granted a company you use when it goes well but as soon as it goes wrong you soon find out the integrity of the supplier. I order the same stuff time and time again but on this occasion it was wrong so I telephoned to see if we could get it resolved.I was met with it's my fault-it's what I ordered and a agitated person etc etc. I couldn't be bothered to argue and I just made the decision never to order from them again.Since then I have found a much better restaurant locally and they are so friendly I can't believe I have not been aware of them before. It goes to show we can become complacent because we know no different.My self and our circle now order from the new place and we haven't had a issue to date.

The food was fresh and tasted excellent.

Whilst staying at a nearby hotel and being informed the on-site restaurant was closed we researched online and decided to order a takeaway from India Cottage as their dishes sounded delicious and the prices very reasonable compared to most others in the area. The telephone order was efficiently taken by a very friendly chap (I later found out he was the father of the chef) and after talking our way through the order of varied dishes I awaited their arrival. The same chap cheerfully delivered our meal very promptly and conversed interestingly and politely about how, where and when the business was set up. All the food was as ordered and absolutely delicious (especially after they'd been informed of a fresh corriander allergy and so everything had been made from scratch). The only downside is that we don't live in the area and are unable to frequently eat there, as we'd try everything on the menu!

Just wow,we just ordered a meal for 2 from this place for the first time and omg it was the best Indian takeaway I've ever had in this town,the food variety in this meal for 2 was stunning the flavours were out of this world and now I'm in a food coma and can't move from my sofa,I literally cannot stand up now I'm so full up,if I could give this 10⭐️ I would,absolutely stunning and the delivery was free,awesome service and will definitely be ordering from this place again

Came here on Sunday evening down here on holiday from north west, like our curries, this seemed to be the best I reviewed.... wasn't disappointed, l like my curries hot, naga strength this really hit the mark for me lamb tikka which can often be chewy and tough at some places was really nice, as was the chicken tikka sauce had that real hot salty kickback that I don't often get, wife had a shashlik which she really liked. All in all a good choice, friendly chatty guys serving, only whinge is we got complimentary poppadoms which even though we're in a bag we're literally smashed to bits, and maybe guys a bit more of choice in chutneys especially onions, not everyone likes lime pickle, but, hey ho, only a small gripe, nice one guys great curry.... cant you re locate to bolton!!.

I had the most delicious biryani I’ve ever had! Papadum was crispy and service was great! A must to try!

Ordered meals from here several times now. Food is always great, always hot and tasty! We usually collect so cant say how delivery service is. Staff are friendly

Amazing Indian food at reasonable prices.

Ordered korma which was fine and 3 different tikka masalas, all of which were dreadful. Very bland just a red sauce with each meat. Didn’t look anything like the photo. When I called to complain they basically said tough that’s what it is. Definitely not as it should have been something clearly wrong with dish.

I can honestly say that they are amazing and deliver a long way out of town and still piping hot 🔥

Been on the road for a week trying Indian food,from Lancashire to St Ives and back. Stopped at Bridgwater tonight and found India Cottage online. Had a fast delivery to my hotel. I must say it’s the best food I’ve had all week. Price is very reasonable and excellent food. Would recommend to anyone who knows and enjoys finest Indian cuisine. Complimentary to the chef and good service to the delivery guy. A*****.

Enjoyed a very good vegetarian buna, pilau rice and onion bhajee takeaway.

We have tried all the Indian restaurants in and around Bridgwater and this is the most authentic and best. I know this because my wife who lived in Bombay, Karachi and Madras tells me so. On every occasion we have ordered they are polite and delivery is ln a reasonable timescale. The portions are generous, well spiced and extremely tasty. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Twice I have ordered food from here, both times when my partners family had come to stay and they loved it! Beautiful Korma and amazing Tikka curry, do not think twice about ordering from here!

We placed an order an hour and a half in advance paying £8 for delivery. T hey called ten minutes after they should have delivered to say they hadn’t left and couldn’t deliver for another half an hour because it had been raining. When I expressed my dissatisfaction the owner threatened me with physical violence. Don’t touch these people with a barge pole. In the meantime they have our money and threaten customers simply shouting and screaming down the phone

I travel for work quite a lot and have worked in Bridgewater for a few months. Unfortunately curries here are quite disappointing. I changed where I stop this week and found this place by accident while out on a walk. My thought was "you got to eat". The staff were polite, and the food I had was the best I've had here by far. I had a Kebab starter which was good but it was the main dish that I found exceptional, I had a chicken Biryani dish (the one with the green chilli's). The rice was well cooked and moist like the chicken, the curry sauce had flavour not just the taste of curry powder. Best of all the portion size was big enough for leftover takeaway lunch at work tomorrow. I will definitely be eating here again.

Second week in a row,tried this place last week the 3 of us and was absolutely banging!!! Came on time fresh,hot and very tasty. Asked mine to be spiced up last week and this week and was perfect. Weve found our new indian takeaway!!! Very nice guys on the phone and drivers very friendly just forgot to tip him this week so he gets double nxt week.

First time having take away from here, it did not disappoint, food was very tasty the sauces were thicker compared to other Indian takeaways was not expecting that, but did not effect the flavours. Came in good time definitely will be ordering from here again.

I’m a big curry eater and have had many many Indian takeaways over the last 30 years from all over the UK (at least 1 every 2 weeks), and I have increasingly been disappointed that Indian takeaways have been cutting back on ingredients and spices used over the years, and therefore the quality and flavour has declined. It’s been difficult to find a truly decent Indian takeaway recently. However, I have now enjoyed 2 Indian meals from India Cottage in Bridgwater over recent weeks (tonigh being one of them), and can say their food is fantastic. Excellent quality and flavour. Exactly how it should be. They do not scrimp on ingredients and spices like so many other takeaways do. Absolutely delicious. So glad I have found this place. Well done India Cottage.

India Cottage review: Todays order: Cottage Biryani and Chips (chips not pictured) Disclaimer: chips were free as an apology for an issue I stated in my previous review on a Facebook group about them! Todays Biryani was amazing - as you may know, I LOVE Biryani but this was just perfect today. The rice was perfectly cooked, the meat was juicy and flavourful and all the flavours just went together heavenly! The curry (you get it free with the Biryani) was really good too - obviously its just a vegetable curry, but it didn't have any of the oiliness some of them have and had lots of flavour The chips were.... Wait for it... Little bit longer... GREAT AGAIN! After last times horrible chips, it was lovely to see that they are back to normal again :) hats off! (They were very apologetic about last time too) So, there we go - India Cottage is back to their usual fantastic selves :)

Went in this evening, to get meal not been there before. My usual curry house shut (Moyna) . Well looks like I have a new place to go. Chicken tender, not so much food dye used, super hot, very tasty. Very polite respectful young man behind the counter. 10 out of 10. Will be going back.

We were told food would be delivered in about 45 minutes (who's been told that only to call them back after an hour and be told drivers just on his way now) so I decided to whip the dog out for a quick walk while waiting to build my appetite. Half way through my walk I had a call from the wife to say food was already delivered!! Hey? That's quick! I'm not gonna lie, I was a little sceptical. New place, food early.....hope it's good! Wow! Everything was absolutely delicious. Everything! Portions (as always with a curry) were gracious and plentiful and everyone had a belly full of food. I look forward to working my way through the menu!
