Ilkley Riverside Hotel Restaurant in Bradford

We stayed at the riverside hotel for the weekend. We could not have been happier, the rooms are lovely and clean, tge breakfast is lovely. We had an evening meal here one evening and not one of us had any complaint about anything. It's perfect. The man who was serving us and chatting to us made it even more enjoyable ( sorry I didn't get your name) he was chatty , informed and a pleasure to talk to. Thank you from Dave, june, Alwyn, Joanne, paul and Pauline. ( the trouble)

We decided to visit and book a table in the restaurant, the dining room was clean, the decor ok, all three decided to have fish and chips with garden peas. The fish was piping hot with crispy batter, and the chips were excellent. My only complaint was the tartar sauce served in these plastic individual holders. Home-made tartar sauce would be a treat. (so easy to make) The waitress was friendly and helpful.

We have bought takeaway Fish & Chips regularly since lockdown I was surprised to read unkind reviews re the staff and service? In our experience, both the staff cooking and serving Fish & Chips and those in the bar have always greeted us with a friendly smile and work extremely hard to deliver orders! This place can be busy but you can be patient and kind too!

Went for fish and chips with some friends and family. I was shocked at how rude the older blonde lady serving was. She was rude to me when queing, everything seemed a hassle for her (I only ordered fish and chips x2 with ketchup). The total was £17 and she refused to give another card board tray to split the food with a 3 year old. I offered to pay on card for the 10p she was requesting but she refused. She could have just charged me £17.10 but really seemed to go out of her way to be mean. Another elderly man came in to ask if he could get some tap water and she said no she's too busy. Not only awful but illegal! I cannot understand why someone like that would choose to work in hospitality. It is appalling. I finally sat down to eat the fish and chips and the batter wasn't cooked (see picture) it was literally running off the fish. It was definitely the worst fish and chips I've ever had. I've never ever written a review before but felt this place needs addressing. On a positive, the location is beautiful next to the park and the river. I would absolutely take a picnic next time.

Stopped for lunch. Had a ham salad Not good ham was brown and lettuce was all stalk and brown . For the price we expected something rather better than this .

Walking passed the fish and chips takeaway of Riverside, the smell and teatime was irresistible. Unfortunately that was the only positive thing about it. There was no queue even at 5pm. The lady fish fryer seemed to have problems speaking. Even though she could see me at the counter, she didn’t acknowledge me at all. Eventually the other assistant came and asked what I wanted. Fish and chips for one and a cup of tea,please, was my answer. The first lady said that it would be 10 minutes. No problem,i replied. I’m thinking that freshly cooked it would be good. About 10 minutes later I was called that my food was ready on the counter. Walking back to eat it in the car I looked into the package. The chips looked old, overcooked in old oil. Within 5 minutes we were sat in the car. Both the fish and chips were almost cold,and the fish batter was not fully cooked . We were very disappointed in all aspects of the meal.. I will not be going back again and can’t recommend it to anyone

In a less nice location with more competition I believe this place would struggle to stay open. While the food was acceptable, the staff were rude to me and my dad immediately upon arrival. When we asked if they were still serving, we were greeted with an unenthusiastic "yeah."and when I asked if they do a sausage and chips, rather than receiving a straight answer, the same woman replied "there's a menu outside" and gestured vaguely to the wall meaning that I wasted time walking over to their menu when a simple "yes" could have saved us all some time. While ordering, said woman appeared bored and irritated as though she had better things to do. When we received our drinks I was shocked to see that the cups were tiny, (for reference, around half the size of a mcdonalds small cup). As well as this to get our attention we had our orders yelled at us in the manner of someone asking to be fired. Although we both ordered our chips with scraps, these were overlooked which influenced our decision to not go back and get ice cream afterwards. Rather than being able to enjoy our meals, my dad and I spent the evening writing individual reviews and discussing how shockingly bad the service was (I download trip advisor specifically to write this, just saying) On reflection there are plenty of other places in the general area where customer service is better and orders are served accurately,in future we'll be buying from elsewhere

Absolutely disgraceful service from the young girl behind the bar. Rude. I was ordering food and had specific requirements, well she looked at me like I was stupid. Not at all helpful . I very nearly said forget it but my kids were already seated and hungry

Stopped for food from the Kabin. Manners and a smile cost nothing and go a long way. The woman who served us had neither of these. Bacon was lukewarm. Overpriced. Would have given it 1 star if it wasn’t for the view.

Abysmal service spent waiting for food that just doesn’t seem to appear although everyone else’s comes out ahead of it. Staff don’t seem to value communication which would go a long way to resolving problems.

A nice place spoilt by its serving of lunchtime Fish & Chips. The chips were reheated and very brown, either from an early frying, but it was only mid-day, or more likely warmed up from the previous evening. For what they serve it is very expensive. dine elsewhere in the town but come down to this area by the river its lovely. A truly let down for Ilkley is this so called restaurant.

A fairly laidback place. Nice surroundings. Staff friendly. Good beer on offer. The fish was very good but the chips were terrible. Why serve dry warmed up chips ? It spoilt the meal. We will return but hope for better chips

Absolute joke of a place blonde haired woman frying the fish telling everyone her fryer isn't getting upto temperature but still serving fish. Using her hands to do everything and clearly complaining about customers. More food going in the bin than be consumed. Absolutely avoid.

Ordered a special and chips, £12.35 in total this usually feeds me and my daughter. What I got barely filled my daughter. It’s such a shame as this place was the go to for fish and chips but it has gone so downhill so much. Will not be visiting again

Second time we have stayed here and it never disappoints. Great hosts and very friendly bar staff plus an excellent breakfast included. The location is great, nice morning walk along the river to blow the cobwebs away after a night in the bar. Will 100% recommend and will be staying again.

The young lady behind the bar needs to learn some customer service skills for a start, she was very rude. Tea cups filled up far too high, so much so that I was burnt trying to return to the table. Won't be going back.

Went here yesterday with the parents for fish and chips. I thought the prices were slightly on the high side.....but little did I expect to pay £1.50 for one small slice of bread and a very thin spread of butter. Whilst the F&C's were OK, i would not visit here again solely based on the price of £1.50 for a single piece of bread (not on the menu so had to ask for it, if I had known the price I wouldn't have bothered). Most F&C restaurants you get bread/butter and a pot of tea complimentary, not here.....ah well, never again

We had visited here before and had a nice meal, and as we were in the area decided to dine here again. The eating area is divided into three sections - outside, inside bar and inside restaurant. Dogs are permitted in all areas apart from the restaurant. The menu is quite wide ranging and our need for dairy free alternatives was willingly accommodated. Some of the meals are also available as smaller portions if required. Meals are ordered and paid for at the bar and when served the quality and quantity was very good, although the Chilli Con Carne was a little bland. Service was friendly and excellent throughout.

Decided to eat here with our 1 year old little girl whilst on a walk along the river. Lovely outdoor seating options and looked inviting. That's where the positive part ends!!! It was a busy Bank Holiday with lovely weather so you'd have expected ample staff to cover this! There was a handful of staff, who were both rude and unorganised. The queue to order was never ending. We waited ages for food which was fine if it had been worth it. The food is very average at best which isn't reflected in the price. Would not recommend!! Take a picnic, there are loads of places to sit and enjoy it.

Great location by the riverside, with ample outdoor seating (some covered). A very smart interior with a pleasant vibe.

Service was very slow. Lots of staff walking around trying to look busy but failing customer demand. Was there 1.5 hours and only managed 2 drinks. Wanted food but ran out of time. In a pub with good service would have managed 4 drinks and a meal in the same timescale.

Not the best experience, service was super slow, it was 12.30pm on a Saturday and the queue was quite long (there were 6 people in front of us) and we queued for over 40 mins, it seemed like they were cooking the food as they served people rather than putting a few fish in. The server was also handling the food without gloves. Asked for some serviettes and was given 1!!

Very disappointed to be served by a young lady with chipped nail polish. Despite covid no masks being worn. The ice cream cone was handled without gloves being worn, flaked picked out of box once again without fingers being covered. Went to get some lager in the park on a cold Sunday, rudely got told to stand aside and wait, with no reason why and no please or thank you. An older woman came out and shouted at me and my friend saying, ‘how old are you, you don’t look old enough’ to which me, 21, and my friend 22, replied back our age. The woman said “you don’t look old enough”, to which we said we both have ID. The woman rudely replied ‘well Christine won’t believe you’re old enough’ whoever Christine is. So we didn’t even get served. Never been spoken to in such a rude manner, you would think during lockdown they would be grateful for the local business, not calling customers liars and denying to see their ID. Outrageous, took our money elsewhere, won’t be returning.

On a cold wet miserable day, in the middle of lockdown, what better way to cheer yourself up.We had delicious fish and chips. Eaten in the car, with rain lashing at the window.The fish and chips are absolutely superb, cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend.

Booked early evening meal, taking part in the Eat Out scheme, on Monday 24th. Pleasant atmosphere. The 2 male staff were extremely busy but managed to be very attentive and helpful. Had the senior citizens fish and chips meal - excellent quality.

Despite there being plenty of people about in the Park, not long to queue for fish and chips. Those in the queue observing social distancing and wearing face masks. We sat outside to eat. Good quality and substantial large haddock with decent chippy chips I had, Mum and her friend had standard size fish and chips, which they commented how nice theirs were. I came for fish and chips with a chap I support, (I’m a key worker). I admit I made a mistake entering the wrong way for the takeaway. I really do not appreciate the staff member’s passive aggressive attitude that I was met with for an honest mistake. She was extremely rude and I could tell the other younger staff member felt awkward about the situation. Very unprofessional.

We went for lunch on a wet Saturday afternoon and took our dog. The food was fine, we only ordered a couple of hot sandwiches, but the service really made this: two blokes, so friendly, we were able to order some food off a doggie menu. Would really recommend this to anybody looking for somewhere to eat with your dog in Ilkley.

Visited on consecutive Friday and Saturday nights, staff very welcoming and pleasant, booked both nights but was plenty of room in the restaurant. The menu is full of traditional pub grub choices at a good price. Lovely wine choice served at perfect temperature and good selection of ales, gins and Spanish lager Mahou. The bar is dog friendly and gets busy with walkers, would like to re visit in the summer and appreciate the outdoor space. Pies and battered fish were ordered between us and all to a very good standard. Onion rings fit for kings

We came here for some lunch, there were 5 of us. The pizza was good, but the underside of the base fell apart. The chips are proper chippy chips and really good! Service was quick and if you sit outside you can sit by the river whilst enjoying your meal.

Large car park on site, 4 Steps of the entrance with hand rails not suitable for wheel chairs, there is tables out side weather permitting, well behaved dog and children welcome, a nice welcome from the staff , a good menu, the food was well cooked and presented, an excellent selection of beers and wine, our stay was very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent well cooked and served piping hot. The only draw back was the steep stairs to the bedrooms which are nicely presented, great location next to the river which is a great place to take the dog for walks very handy for Ilkley Thanks to all the staff.

On 2/7/19 I stopped off to have a few chips, I went to the window and had to shout is anybody there, lady replied be there in a min, I looked over and the lady was preparing a sweet for someone but she was eating from the same plate that she was preparing (choc fudge cake and ice cream) I was discusted with this lack of hygiene, she then served me, I got no thankyou or anything, she was so rude, and common. Be warned don't eat if this is what there staff do when preparing your meal.

My friend and I have just spent a great relaxing few days at the Riverside Hotel in Ilkley. The hotel is on the riverside, which made it a perfect location, as we had a little dog with us. The room had been refurbished, the staff were pleasant, and there was such a varied menu, we ate at the hotel. We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked our next stay. Jean

We have had no kitchen for a few weeks so have eaten out quite a lot. There are a lot of options here. You can sit in your car and have fish and chips which are first class. Proper fish n chip shop style. Or you can sit in the beer garden and choose from the menu. The pizzas are outstanding. We have also eaten the curry and scampi which were also great. Ice creams are gorgeous. Good choice of beers at the bar and the service is friendly and efficient. You are also near the river and park. It’s dog friendly which is important to us. Pricing is competitive. Hard to fault really.

Visited the riverside kabin saturday 23rd june...upon arrival an old age pensioner had already been served his chips but forgot to get a drink. After shouting hello through the window five times a young girl walked past looked at him and just ignored him. She eventually came back and served him at which point his chips were probably freezing. We ordered a pepperoni pizza a cheesy garlic pizza and chips..after waiting a while we overheard one of them say dont but much garlic on I think its gone off. So obviously we pulled the women and cancelled that one. We got our pizza and chips and a mayonnaise sat outside on a bench me my wife and two young children ate half then realised the mayonnaise was actually a month out if date. We cleared up and left as we didnt feel like approaching the two staff in the kabin they need swapping out for some proffesionals....also chips were like scrappy toenails.

Had great fish and chips here- first visited about 7 years ago and was equally impressed on my return. Restaurant is a little tired but the food more than made up for it. Staff were helpful and friendly, service was good, food reasonably priced. Would visit again if in the area.

Staff in the Riverside Kabin particularly rude and unfriendly to customers. There are many alternatives in Ilkley where customers are treated respectfully .

Visited with my Family and had some of the best food I have eaten in a very long time. The pies where amazing.

We went out for dinner to riverside hotel food was amazing staff were very polite and nothing was to much trouble would deffinatley be going back the steak was tender with no fat at all quality food at a reasonable price highly reccomended

We’ve been to the Riverside previously and enjoyed it but I have to say that our experience today was dire. We’d taken the trouble to book ( being a bank holiday) but when we got there, no staff to be seen anywhere despite hearing voices . My husband said, ‘ hi we’ve booked a table’. A curt reply - sit anywhere. We had to clear a dirty table. We ordered two salmon salads and a lasagne . Not difficult! A molten microwaved lasagna arrived and one salmon salad. After a few minutes a second salmon salad arrived. Awful! A piece of pale white/pink red hot salmon laid on top of a mixed salad with thick ? Balsamic smothered on top! Absolutely dire. Who ever heard of serving microwaved salmon on top of a salad? By the way, my Mums salmon salad was served cold ( but totally tasteless. If they had run out of salmon - surely the sensible courteous thing to do do would be apologise and offer something else.

Arrived for tea and the pub was very quiet. We ordered and the food was delivered quickly and piping hot. I had chilli in a Yorkshire pudding which was spicey but not overhot. Hubby had meat and potato pie served with chips, peas and very large onion rings. We both enjoyed our meal and even managed a pudding - one ginger sponge and one treacle sponge both served with lots of custard. On leaving the pub had filled up with lots of chatter and laughter, people just having a good time. The pub is on the riverbank and we had a lovely walk after tea.

Went today with my wife & daughter to the park then went to the kabin for some chips & an icecream. Got the icecream & chips with no smile or anything just a “small chips” we took our chips & icecream and sat in the car. I went back to get 2 drink and as i walked in the woman behind the counter pulled a disgusting face at me & when i asked for a drink she said “ i can’t serve you” she wasn’t doing anything else other than walking around i would have understood if she was busy and said “2 minutes” but for her to say “i can’t serve you” is disgusting. I am shocked with the service as this is somewhere i have been going since i was a child myself.

Everything is Frozen, no fresh produce to be seen. When we went to get fish and chips we were served with a women with zero personality, awful customer service and the food was overpriced and disgusting.

After a fantastic time at the Xmas tents in the nearby park, we wandered over for some chips...and it'll be the last time I do.

Arrived at 12 pm after a long walk on the moor to a warm welcome and a lovely fire with our 2 daughters who were home from uni for a long weekend and our dog. We had 2 steak and kidney pie and chips, a cheeseburger and a roast pork and vegetable filled Yorkshire pudding. Food was lovely with good portion size and each meal under £10. Great value and welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Our dog fell asleep in front of the fire while we ate. Highly recommended for a good quality pub meal at a reasonable price and in a lovely location.

Will not go here again due to very small portions, bad value and poor service. Highly recommend visiting one of Ilkleys other fish and chip establishments

Went today for ice creams. Waited at the window for a while then pressed the bell. Someone shouted the would be over soon. So I said ok. My daughter then pressed the bell again as kids do. So I shouted “sorry that was the kids, I know your coming.” Some man then came storming over ripped the bell off the stand and stomped off. Came back after a few mins and took our ice cream orders acting like we were a total inconvenience and was very rude. Ice cream looked nothing like the pictures and he practically threw it as us. There was no que and they were not busy. Ice creams are very over priced for the very poor quality you get. Won’t be going again.

I really enjoyed the fish and chip there were gorgeous I really have good time at the riverside cafe ilkey recomend it

We were visiting nearby and decided after a walk through Ilkley to get some Fish & Chips. They were cooked to order which took a few minutes longer. They were very nice and fresh, great fish & chips, a very helpful member of staff who kept apologising for the wait.

Stayed in a room overlooking the beer garden and river. Smallish room but nicely decorated. Comfortable bed and two lovely chairs. Loved the shower. good water pressure. Did not have dinner but the breakfast was very good. Bar staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Had a good time. Thank you.

What a delightful setting this restaurant occupies and what a wonderful array of flowers around the outside seating area. We were not here for food other than to satisfy our grandchildren's Ice Cream needs, which we purchased from the Take away Kabin which is an annex of the actual hotel and restaurant.

We called in to watched the football and to have a bite to eat.

While staying at this hotel we ate dinner 5 times here and couldn't fault the food at all, service and food was excellent and reasonably priced too.

Great local to watch the footie. Food is home made and portions are big. Next door is a fish and chip take away with ice creams and drinks. As the name says its besides the river and Ilkley park. There is a big car park as well.

Me and my partner took our grandsons to the local park and the river as it was a beautiful day, called in at the fish and chop bar for simple 1 chips and nuggets for the grandkids, was greeted by a blonde girl won’t say lady as she was far from it!! Ordered our food in which we got sighs and moanimg that it was close to closing and why couldn’t we go somewhere else! Put that aside waited a very long time asked if we could have 2 slush puppies as it was very warm for my two grandson age 2/6 which was stood waiting with us to be told it’s not working but we could clearly see it going round and clearly working!! After a very long time waiting the fryer came and practically threw our food on the counter with not a word my partner said is that everything and he replied “that’s what you ordered isn’t it”? No thank you no nothing then the blonde girl came and called us rude then the fryer threatened to come out and “hit” my partner the blonde girl continued to tell me to F### off several times and calling me a F##### bimbo all in front of my two young Grandsons which was very scared as we don’t raise our voices in front of them! All in front of everyone in the pub beer garden! I have never been treated like that in my life I can’t express what a bad experience this, what began with a lovely day out with my family turned out to be the worse ever! I wouldn’t ever go back there again very disappointing that they can continue to treat customers like this and still get to keep their jobs!!

Having just spent a most enjoyable day in the Bolton Abbey and Burnsall area with a group of friends, I suggested that we all met at the Riverside restaurant because their Fish & Chips are the best in the area.

I took my friends and family for a nice day out in ilkley by the river.. NEVER again. A rude sour faced blonde woman chewing gum whilst cooking my food. And I was not the only customer that was appalled by her behaviour. Some of the chips tasted sour, not acceptable especially when you need to remortgage your house to afford it. Over priced and rude staff!! Never will I go again and never will I tell anyone to visit.

Visited today and ordered drinks, fish and chips and ice creams so spent quite a lot of money. The female cashier was rude, abrupt and looked like she would like to be anywhere but there. There was no signage to say you should order ice creams at one window and hot food at the other, yet she had no issue in very rudely telling people they were at the wrong window. The staff room card payment for my ice creams as they were over £5 but then refused to do it for another group behind me. The woman removed the wooden forks as she was trying to save the environment apparently but was huffing and puffing under her breath about how disrespectful people were being in asking for them?! (Suppose she expects you to eat boiling hot fish and chips with your fingers!) All in all was terrible customer service with average food and drink at ridiculously high prices.

With a lovely location by the river and adjacent to the Dalesway, the Riverside is a homely pub. Our room (a family room, although we had requested a twin) with a view over the river was comfortable and clean, although the decoration was very much not to our taste. The bathroom - good fittings but very cramped, particularly around the wash basin. Fairly expensive for what it offers. Breakfast so-so, too many 'packets'.

Not often do I complain but this service & drinks was shocking & as a result we throw our drinks away - we came for food & drink on a bank holiday but when dealt with by the barman who was rude, when we got our drinks both was watered down - I had ordered lemonade & my partner ordered shandy both was undrinkable & tasted nothing like they should & more of water, we would have taken these back but the cue for the bar was to big as they staff was taking ages -

As part of a school party, I can not fault the service we received. We stopped of for ice-cream with a group of 60 lively children. Staff were friendly and accomodating to us all. I will definitely be returning.

Nice, large seating area, lots of tables, nice decor with a large wall mounted tv screen.
