Had a lovely Salmon lunch at IKEA Milton Keynes but the effort to get a hot drink is a fiasco. Out of the 8 or so machines , only 1 is working you can only have black coffee or tea, to get these drinks you need to scan the machine , then you have to go find the milk. 4 staff members hanging around , no one is helping the people now queuing to get a drink , some of these people were elderly and didn't understand how it worked, most people walked round & round trying to find a machine that actually dispensed a drink. I gave up in the end , I'll get a drink elsewhere . I know IKEA offer free drinks to IKEA card holders which is a great idea but at least have machines that work !!

Appalling. The most ridiculous system for hot drinks. The machines weren’t working. It was filthy - spilt drinks and milk everywhere. A complicated system of scanning to get the drink. When I eventually got a coffee it was freezing cold - as if made with cold water. Tables were also filthy.

I visited IKEA purely for the restaurant. Wasn't interested in the 'shop' area. Having never tried their Meatballs and hearing lots about them, I decided to give it a try, on my way to central Milton Keynes. Parking is fun... slightly complex, but then found a space very easily. The place is massive, so when you get to it, it's one of those "holy cow" moments. You go up the escalator to get in, as part of the car park is in the ground level. The bathrooms are right there when you get in, very well signed. The restaurant isn't. It's all up another escalator. And then a left turning, but once it's it's big. The other slightly "what do I do?" moments is when you see there are two queues. It's clever tho. If it was one queue, it would be very long! I got there at 1150 and people already eating lunch. Two queues just makes it faster. I took the left one - no real reason. Saw lots of nice treats (all reasonably priced - such as a Daime Bar cheesecake for about £2.25). Then the meatballs. 8 for £4.95 or 12 for £5.95. Plus the mash, peas, a load of gravy and the jam. It's amazing value. The coffee is more, but you get 3 refills if you wanted them, for just £1.25. And it's on par with Wetherspoons coffee (similar machines). But you scan a QR code, to ensure you are allowed the refills. Frankly, I don't see the point in the codes. No one will ever have more than 2-3 coffees. And it takes add a step to "did I do that right?"..... I didn't. That all aside, the meal was very nice. Meatballs great texture. Mash was lovely. Gravy - loads of it. Next time I go to MK, I will likely definitely go there for lunch again. Another thing to add, the staff - all very nice. Even the chap pouring out more meatballs into the tray was chatty and friendly. The lady at the til asked me about my cup, what it was for. She was very kind and told me about the refills. And the lady who helped me at the coffee machine (When it was faulty I think) , was naturally helpful. Final word - the restaurant is at the start of the place, so you can eat and then go through the store if you wish, full tummies. And no, you don't have to go thru the store after eating. You can pop in for lunch and just leave. Free parking. They also do Salmon and veggie stuff. Very impressive. The confusions would knock it down to 4/5, but with everything, that's just coz it's new. I'd give it 10/10, for service, value and cleanliness too (bathrooms were v clean).

The staff are lovely, the breakfast was not. The vegetarian sausages were awful and by the time we faffed around getting coffee the whole thing was cold! Inedible. Their new coffee bar is worse than the old one and that was bad. It’s very confusing. We were horrified when we were leaving to see a guy putting out the cutlery and literally every knife and fork he was handling by the eating end! I hope he washed his hands! We’ve been there many times before but we wont be going there again!

This review is based off the restaurant only. We waited to be served our food for about 25 minutes and then the pay queue was long too! I can’t flaw the food but the soft drink station was out of order. Giving that the queue was that big none of the staff looked at all motivated and were working quite slow. Also, up until we were almost through the queue, there was only one till open when there were two available! Would recommend on a Friday also as it’s half price on all the meals.

My friend and I visit Ikea about every 4 months to have a mooch about and always come away with something which had not been planned. Part of our visit is to have lunch in the restaurant. We now have our visit down to a fine art. We visit the showroom and normally finish there at about 11:30am. It's normally not too busy in the restaurant and we get there just before the rush. If you have never been to an Ikea restaurant I can definitely recommend having the meatballs with gravy and lingonberry sauce. You can have mash or chips. For dessert round off your Swedish lunch with a portion of Daim cake. They do plant based meatballs if you prefer these and they also do other types of food like fish and chips or pasta. They also cater for children too. If you are a member of the Ikea Family scheme you can have a free hot drink however if you want a cold fizzy drink you have to pay for this. The restaurant is set up like a canteen and you queue for your meal then pay for it, get your cutlery, condiments and drinks and find a seat. They encourage you to clear away your trays when you finish and generally the staff are quite quick to wipe down tables ready for the next customer. I've never had a bad experience here. Highly recommended!

Queued for half an hour to get cold food , overcooked chips and a miniscule helping of peas. We then had to wait ages at the till (only 2 open) When we finally paid we found all but one coffee machine was broken so more waiting. Our meals were freezing cold and we had to microwave them. We visited the restaurant today as we had two food vouchers to use. Big mistake! The queue for starters and hot food was horrendous. We had one salmon starter and two chicken teriyaki. We then joined the very long queue to pay. That's when the fun started! The food although covered was bound to be cold by the time we reached the cashier. I presented the vouchers (which stated that they were each for one main course) to Mrs Jobsworth, she told me that I could only use one voucher visit. To cut a long story short the problem was resolved, although All the people in the queue behind us were quite rightly furious. We then sat down in the canteen/restaurant to a cold disgusting meal. There were a couple of very hard working members of staff spraying and wiping down tables as customers left, but it was hard not to notice how filthy the chairs were, especially the backs of the chairs where customers had moved them about. Very unhygienic! The whole area and furniture needs a deep clean. Final word............Avoid.

Truly awful “retail” experience - I’m sorry IKEA but if this is the best you can do and is representative of your business model then my cash is going elsewhere in the future. Multiple issues… firstly I acknowledge that a Saturday afternoon will be busy and the volume of customers is outside your control. But, even the most rudimentary awareness of the retail market will emphasise the need to staff an outlet properly on a busy day… something that is sadly lacking at IKEA MK. Instead, the few staff that are there are clustered in packs of three chatting about anything and everything; it genuinely makes the customer feel that they’re an annoyance in interrupting them. And then the strategy to dispense with the paper tickets and pencil so you can’t make a note of where to collect the goods from the warehouse racking. All very good for the planet I guess but really it’s a step too far especially when the staff member I spoke to tells you to use the IKEA app despite being inside a huge metal box with iffy 4G reception. The in store Wi-Fi is temperamental (at best) but regardless I personally don’t want to load my phone up with an app that I don’t want. Shouldn’t it all be about CHOICE? The warehouse location also bears no resemblance to the detail on the individual product ticket. Fortunately I’d made a note of the 8 digit product code so was able to key this into a screen and get an amended location. I know mistakes happen but if this is how you structure your business model then it needs to be right? No trolleys. Stood for about 10 minutes waiting for a trolley to appear in the chute mechanism. Finally I found a member of staff and asked what was going on - was told she’d investigate but quite frankly the next ice age was arriving quicker than her response so I gave up on that one (PS on departure we found where the trolley store is… the car park because nobody collects them). The till area is a complete farce. Multiple tension barriers force you to walk three complete lengths of the till area before getting to the head of the queue. Fair enough if the till area is busy but it wasn’t so why can’t the tension barriers be opened to shorten the distance? My partner is disabled with mobility problems… the system isn’t user friendly at all. I could go on but I’m not sure it’ll be if any benefit. Just avoid this place at all costs!

Visited for a meal of meatballs, the IKEA favourite. Been years since I last had them. What has happened to the new potatoes? Used to love them but now it seems a large dollop of heavy mashed powdered potatoes or a portion of frozen chips has replaced them. Meat balls seem different too. Gone were the tasty items which could be purchased in two different sizes and in comes s compressed meatball (well 12 of them actually) which are a shadow of their ancestors. Still good value but not the same quality I feel.

Visited this restaurant at the end of Covid restrictions and was amazed at the massive queues built up and snaking round both serving areas. We decide to wait as we were ravenous and as the minutes passed, we began to worry that they would run out of the legendary IKEA Meatballs, but no problems, half an hour later we reached the server. How many meatballs do they have in this store? Who cares, they had enough for my wife and I. Loaded up with meatballs, gravy, chips and peas (no lingonberry jelly unfortunately), a Strawberry tart and a soft drink, we headed to find a table. Despite the mass of people, getting a table wasn't difficult as this is a massive restaurant, we enjoyed a meal which we missed for almost 2 years. IKEA may not have an extensive menu but the quality of the food they do serve up is excellent. Well worth the odd visit when in the area.

There was a slightly limited breakfast menu compared to pre-Covid days, and free drink refills had been put on hold, but helpful and efficient staff combined with some tasty tuck made for a pleasant hour, which is how long you are allowed to keep your table. So it’s not that I begrudge paying for the breakfast, but it wasn’t until I got home that I realised I had been overcharged for it and if everyone is paying that ‘little extra’ then it’s false advertising. It was my first time to the restaurant despite being a long standing ikea member, so I didn’t quite know how much the addition of the toast cost.

Love IKEA... such clever innotive ideas and the food in their restaurant is great value for money. I particularly love their space saving ideas.

I've never had a bad meal here, the meatballs are always hot and delicious and the desserts are yummy, especially the Danish cakes. If you have an IKEA family card you get free refillable tea and coffee too, which is a bargain.

First may I say what a wonderful store this is. Clean well signed posted and with wonderful helpful staff. If you don’t know where something is all you have to do is ask, staff couldn’t be more polite and helpful. The perk of being a family member with your free tea and coffe is welcome. However, where l think ikea fall down is not the quality of their food which in my opinion is excellent value for money, but my old bug bear of it being just warm! I had fish chips and peas today and by the time my husband had waited for the food to be served up and then had to wait again to pay the food was in my opinion warm at best nearing obncold. Such a shame when everything else is first class for ikea to fall down on this. It won’t put me off going back to get stuff that l don’t know how l lived without!!! Visit you will not be disappointed.

We had been out to do a few bits but it took longer than planned, so we detoured here for his lordship to get some grub. The food is such good value here. We don’t understand why the meatball portion has increased from 10-15meatballs. That said, it saved me having to cook!!

The food wasn't too bad but it did feel like a school canteen, I guess this is reflected in the price.

Whenever I visit IKEA, I have my plate of Swedish Meatballs - and they rarely disappoint. This time had them with sweet potatoes rather than chips - a nice change. Also, if you fancy alternatives to Meatballs, there was a reasonable selection of other dishes. Price is still very competitive and lower than a budget restaurant. Start with the meal to give you the strength for shopping and in particular fighting your way for the ground floor labirinth. Weekday evening is the best time to go, weekends to be avoided, too many customers and leaving the car park can be an ordeal by itself!

Great food and extremely good value at under £12 pounds for two meals with drinks! You just can’t argue with what Ikea are offering! Long live the meatballs!

After furniture, the meatballs in their restaurant are probably the most famous part of the brand.

When you say the word Ikea, people always, always, say about the meatballs, now I don't eat meatballs, thinking that they are full of all the nasty bits n bobs of what ever animal is to hand, but silly me, of course they are not, so putting my fears aside, I tried the famous meatballs, with a small portion to start with, and tentatively nibbling at the meat ball, I found that in fact they are really, really, very nice.. so if you too are not a fan of said balls, go on give them a try..... if I can, you can.... anyway enough about that, this iconic building stands out as you approach it, so you really cannot miss the place, parking is free and easy, and the entrance into the store is quite grand for a shop, when all said n done, but as you enter, you suddenly feel the wow factor, not many shops give such a grand entrance to a store, expectations are risen....and away you go into the world of Ikea, now I have never purchased a large piece of furniture, but have spent my money on lots of other stuff from Ikea, of which I have been happy with all my goodies.... I know this is mainly an Ikea review, but once you've had your fill of Ikea, there is an Asda next door, a very large Asda.. next door ... so kill 2 birds 1 stone thingy... as they say....be rude not too...

The IKEA restaurant is essentially a school canteen experience but the food tastes pretty good... and it is incredibly cheap. Eaten at the canteen twice when I've been at the store. I wouldn't make a special trip just for the food. It is sometimes crazy busy as well. I also question what is actually in the meatballs... probably better not to think about it :). If you get the ikea membership has special offers sometimes, such as 1/2 price food!

So a late night evening shop meant we missed dinner. I’ve never eaten at IKEA before. I wasn’t expecting fine dinning but the food was reasonable. Plus very reasonably priced. Meatballs are quite a winner. Not too shabby at all.

From the reviews I've read, it seems as if some folks expect fine dining and silver service for the price! We are IKEA Family card holders and get free drinks from Monday to Friday, which in itself is a great bonus. We have shopped at IKEA quite a bit lately, as we have had some major changes made to the house. A visit to the store usually lasts longer than we anticipate, so having a restaurant on site is good for us. The food is basic and the meatballs option seems to be very popular and a bit of an icon as far as the company is concerned. I have frequently had the meatballs meal and always been pleased. Recently, they seem to have introduced a chicken meatballs option and I tried this, but will definitely be steering clear of ordering these again. Desserts are good value and the apple cake with a vanilla cream is very acceptable. The service is okay and the folks serving the food always seem pleasant to us. You need to take your tray of dirty dishes to a collection point - a small price to pay. The tables have always been clean and we have never had a problem in finding a place to sit, even when it's a busy time. Okay, this isn't the kind of place you'd visit if you're not shopping there, but if you need refreshment (and you probably will) then don't hesitate to pop in.

After watching the documentary about IKEA I decided to take a look at their new Tom Dixon sofa range, I wasn't impressed and ended up buying a different sofa, I think it was the way the Tom Dixon range was displayed not very inspiring. The lady who placed our order was very helpful and sorted out our delivery dates and everything. We spent a large fortune on this and other items photo frames and gadgets but I do love IKEA. We ate in the restaurant, the meatballs and mash are amazing, I was disapointed that there was no Peri Peri chicken as advertised on the website but anyway what we ate was delicious. The ice cream cornets are always good but I had a problem with my token and a guy in the cafe tried to help but only after touching my ice cream cone without gloves on or a serviette, hope he had clean hands!

My daughter was looking forward to shop at IKEA. Good parking and plenty of stuff to look at. Lunchtime we had been told food was good. So off we went to get food. Long queue to get food. I had fish meal daughter had chicken. Then a very long queue to pay. By the time we sat down both meals were cold and not very nice. Not be eating there again. Should have gone to Asda next door. Just like school food not good. Save your money for flat pack furniture

Would have been better going to McDonalds...... we went to the cafe here at 12:30 on a Friday and it didn't look busy. Waitress who took out order advised there was a 30 minute wait on food which would have been fine however, after an hour we were still waiting. When the food finally appeared it was clear that some of it wasn't fresh, peas were hard, beans congealed and toasties were hard. Food didn't all come out at the same time and there was no apology from the staff. Shame because the actual garden centre is lovely but next time we will either go to Frosts or elsewhere.

Typical pub which has only modernised a little so still has the true pub atmosphere. Gone is the smoky environment and considerably brighter than the old days but still recognisable as a pub with staff of the ‘old school’. Good range of food though and on this visit we had the most delicious Lasagne which was served with an excellent Garlic bread and nice salad. Add a bottle of wine, couple of deserts and the bill of £56 was not bad at all.
