The food is great at Wee Waif. We go quite often and really enjoy ourselves. This time as usual I booked the table and we arrived just before our time. Our table was not available because there were people sat at it. So we were given another table which wasn’t a problem and we ordered our meal. But before we had finished the main coarse the waitress came over and told us we had to be off the table in 40mins which normally wouldn’t be a problem but one of our party is a very slow eater. So she had to rush to finish her main coarse and we all wanted dessert. We ordered dessert which took a while to come and we had about 10 mins to eat dessert remembering that one of our party was a very slow eater. The waitress was hovering behind tutting. Plus when we did leave the people that were sat at our table when we arrived were still sat at that table they didn’t get moved on.

Stayed a couple of nights and also ate at the Wee Waif. The room was clean and comfy and quiet throughout the night. I had breakfast one morning, which was lovely. There is plenty of choice and it's great value for money too. I had 2 evening meals, and both were lovely, huge, tasty dinners that were served quickly by friendly staff. The outstanding part of my stay was the lovely staff throughout the Wee Waif. Everyone was very welcoming and so friendly, which makes a huge difference as a solo traveller. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a great value place for eating out with friends and/or family. Staff are helpful and friendly and made for a good evening out. Pub has sufficient parking, gardens and is on a bus route from Reading & Twyford.

Celebrated our daughters 10th birthday with friends and family. Blown away once again by the level of service from Anne and the team. Anne looked after us well and is a credit to the Wee Waif. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic little base for a Wedding at Stanlake Park. Comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities, decent shower. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good food from the Pub. Great little stay if you’re on a budget

Pop in there for first time with my girlfriend. Such a nice surprise, staff realmy friendly an attentive, giving us some advices of what to order, Fergal the bartender was amazing, super friendly and his knowledge of the menu impressive. We had a lovely visit at the wee waif tonight. We were blessed with an amazing waitor Jaime who was very pleasant and helpful throughout the whole of our evening. He was easy to talk to and couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend!!

I have been to the Wee Waif several times and the bar service is inconsistent to say the least. This evening I was totally ignored and several people served in front of me.

Went to We Waif for brunch , very surprised, large menu , very reasonable prices . We all ordered different items , and very soon items appeared . I had the all English brunch , outstanding , all item freshly cooked very nice , plus chips on the side with chick in wings , very good the others had the mushrooms very tastier, and rgevother had the lasagne, nice a fresh , salad on the side , with cheese chips. For a cheap eats restaurant I could not fault any thing , ps asked for a week latta, and was brought out extra hot milk if it was to strong . Very nice experience, we be back soon 5 star

Good choice menu. Reasonably priced. Poor light at tsble to read menus. 1 of ourparty had to send back her steak which also had lots of grizzle. ChEap and Reasonably cheerful!

Visited here once before for drinks in the summer which was lovely and tonight for a quick fly by dinner greeted by Debbie. The service was exceptionally good, food tasted fresh and hot considering how busy it had been throughout the day. (Southern fried chicken burger, buy one get one free Friday) You can tell the quality is nice as a lot of people were eating different items. Will definatly visit again to work through the menu and recommend.

We were booked for two nights at the Wee Waif. The room was very disappointing and unwelcoming. There was one hand-towel and two bath towels for two people. There should have been six hangers but we only had five We asked reception for another hand towel and another hanger and the receptionist was very helpful and provided both. The headboard was damaged and peeling. There was a net curtain over the window that barely reached each end and drooped in the middle. Bearing in mind that we were on the ground floor, backing on to the petrol station which closes at midnight and opens at 5 a.m. we were not very happy. We did ask if we could change rooms but another wouldn't be available until the next day and we declined to repack and move. We feel this is poor value for £75.00 per night. On Tuesday afternoon, a very large lorry and trailer parked right outside our bedroom window and completely blocked the sunshine. We decided to cut our losses and left that evening to return home. My husband had a steak and ale pie and had difficulty finding the meat inside. The food is good value for what it is but everything seems to be fried. For someone who wants to eat healthily, there are few options. On a positive note, the reception staff were very helpful and obliging.

Had a table booked to meet my sister and family on Saturday. My friend and I arrived first, and located our booked table. Was a little cramped for the six of us. Before I could search for another, a member of staff arrived and said she would move us to a sitting at the back of the restaurant area. Sister and family arrived and there was plenty of room. Was karaoke night in the bar at the front, so it was quite a busy evening in the pub. All of us enjoyed our main courses. When we decided to order dessert at 9.25, the barman mentioned the kitchen normally closes at 9.00. But he would make an exception in this case. When we were departing, I mentioned to a member of staff that one of our group had mobility issues, so she opened the rear door for easier access to the car park. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff. On a busy Saturday night they were all very helpful.

Me and my family (5 of us) had a table booked for 7pm. We arrived early and attempted to park in an EV parking spot- these were taken by 3 non EV cars, when questioned at the bar this was ignored! 1 car was a member of staff! Never mind- annoying but not the worst thing! We placed our food order around 7:10/7:15. We were told the wait may be around 30 mins for food as they were busy- not a problem. 4 of our meals came out at 8:30 and the last meal (a child’s) came 10 minutes after this. Food was awful!!! Husbands burger bun was so hard with black burn marks we had to request another. Gammon from another meal was dry and hard, chips cold for 3 of the meals but plates were piping hot- meaning it had been sat under a heater for a while! Steak was undercooked and hard to chew, chicken was like warm rubber. (I promise we are not THAT family! And can always overlook little defects!) However!! No one even half finished their meal which was a huge disappointment and very unlike us! I asked if we could please have replacements but this was met with a firm ‘no! We’re busy!’ Kids were so upset and still hungry we ordered a pudding to try and salvage the meal- These took 20 mins to come out!! Such a shame to have had a rare family evening meal out to be ruined by long waits and poor food!

Fab family lunch, meals arrived promptly and hot, the kids ate everything bar the pattern on the plate and had 3 courses as well. Amazing value for money and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

I ordered a child's pizza flatbread and chips which write seperate. The pizza was very poor and clearly microwaved. The salad was covered in dressing and the chips were cheap oven chips. The service is poor. Not going back

We recently stayed here during the tough times we find ourselves in with the pandemic. The team were amazing and put us at ease the whole time during our stay. The room was standard but had everything we needed and we will certainly be back once you have reopened.

Nice hotel, but such rude staff which is a shame. On arrival, no receptionist so had to find someone in the bar. The girl was not happy. In the room, only one towel. I asked for another & was told there was one & to look!! She marched me back to the room to show me where it was, of course, there was no towel. Then, no hairdryer. Was told not all rooms had them & if I insisted, she would have to run around the hotel just for me!!! Food was good, but again, staff were rude.There was no good mornings etc & we went and bought teabags and milk as felt embarrassed to ask for more.We have been offered another night there, but unfortunately will never return.

Always good service here. Booked table and enjoyed pleasant meal, plenty of space to move around. Parking is easy and the eating area is part indoor and part conservatory style. Outdoor tables are also available.

Vine a comer con mis amigos y tuve una experiencia increíble. La comida fue increíble como siempre. Jo y Clarissa fueron increíbles en el bar y jazmín Sam y josh fueron tan encantadores en el restaurante que nos hicieron sentir cómodos y a gusto. Estos muchachos son un crédito para los pequeños abandonados y esperamos volver pronto.

Filetes tan duros como botas viejas, una caja registradora que no acepta cupones de descuento, personal de cocina que no puede cocinar y debido a un nuevo proveedor de alimentos las porciones son más pequeñas aunque los precios siguen siendo los mismos. Esto solía tener una buena relación calidad-precio, pero nuestros dos últimos viajes han sido desastrosos. Habría pensado que harían todo lo posible para que la gente atraviese la puerta y no los ahuyentara. No volveré a ir allí.

Visitamos el Wee Waif ayer, 7 de septiembre, para celebrar el cumpleaños de un amigo. Inusualmente, no fue una buena experiencia. Habíamos visitado la semana anterior cuando dos de las comidas estaban lejos de ser buenas: filetes duros, sin comida de reemplazo, solo la oferta de cocinar el filete un poco más o reemplazar uno de los filetes (también incomible). Sin embargo, esto se abordó al día siguiente después de una llamada telefónica que ofrecía un vale de 15, que se debía dejar detrás de la barra, contra la próxima comida, de ahí la nueva reserva. A la llegada no había bono, mal comienzo. En ese momento eso no se pudo resolver ya que la persona que había llamado no estaba de servicio. Bien, pensamos, usaremos el 10% de descuento en el vale de comida que se había descargado. Esto no se aceptó en la caja, a pesar de cumplir con el criterio de que la comida era mayor de 30 años y se podía usar para comida y bebida. Para entonces, habíamos descartado la idea de comer allí, pero dos miembros del grupo ya habían pedido su comida (pagadera en caja) antes de que el tercer miembro del grupo, que iba a usar el cupón, descubriera que no era aceptado. De mala gana, todos nos quedamos a comer. Sin embargo, la comida de curry ordenada, como de costumbre durante los 6 años de visita al Wee Waif, era la mitad del tamaño de la porción de carne de lo habitual y no había pan naan ya que se les había acabado, por lo que lo habían compensado agregando poppadoms adicionales. De ninguna manera estaba a la altura del excelente servicio habitual que esperábamos. Un miembro del personal, un joven, habló con el grupo y de alguna manera al menos alivió el ambiente. Ojalá tuviéramos su nombre para poder agradecerle personalmente.

En primer lugar, el personal del restaurante era de primera clase y no tengo ninguna queja al respecto. La comida estaba caliente bien presentada.Fuimos a las 5:15 pm. Llegué un poco antes, pero me senté de buena gana. Intenté hacer un pedido usando la aplicación, simplemente no me permitió ingresar el número de la mesa. Terminé ordenando a la antigua en el bar. Incluso el personal reconoció que la aplicación era casi inútil.Pero no estoy seguro de que volvamos a ir allí, un par de muchachos muy animados. Pero lo peor fue la mesa cerca de nosotros. Lamentablemente, la anciana pareció ahogarse y procedió a vomitar parte de su comida. Por supuesto, esto le podía pasar a cualquiera, ¡pero no había necesidad de que siguiera comiendo! Estoy seguro de que el personal habría ayudado con un reemplazo. La situación empeoró porque los que estaban en su mesa continuaron como si fuera un comportamiento normal. Afortunadamente, cuando llegó nuestra comida, pudimos dejarla de lado en nuestras mentes.

We stayed at the hotel and went down to breakfast. We found a table and then we were greeted by Anne. Anne gave us our menus and then ran through everything, she was very informative and very polite. During service Anne was very attentive and nothing was a bother. Anne showed exceptional service and the food was great that was brought to us. When we stay again we hope that Anne is our server.

We eat in the Wee Waif regularly however we ate in the Wee Waif at lunch time today 18.8.20 and I can only say that the food was awful extremely disappointing. It has never been so bad almost uneatable I should have sent it back. The only reason I didn't was because the serving staff were so charming. I will think twice before eating there again which is a pity because this is our local.

We called into the Wee Waif on spec on our way back home. Although we did not have a booking the staff (Jasmine) were very helpful and found us a very nice socially distanced table. The dining room was spotless and the usual hand sanitizers and social distance notices were displayed. The food was excellent and we felt very safe and well looked after. The meal which is exceptional value anyway was half price because of the Government 50% offer. Would highly recommend this place.

I love the Wee waif. Since the reopening the service has been fantastic. Especially Clarissa who is a credit to herself and Greene King. I am always made to feel very welcome. I will be coming back regularly.
