Huffkin of Hoo Restaurant in Medway

I was hungry so decided to check this place out. I first scanned the QR code to order food online but that didn’t work as it came up with an error, so I had to order at the bar. I wasn’t happy as half the menu wasn’t available! It took a good 10 minutes to be served! Luckily drinks were straight away but food took over 30 mins when the restaurant wasn’t busy at all! Then suddenly there is loads of staff behind the bar not doing much at all, don’t know where they were when I wanted to order? And there was a table next to us that had just left, none of the staff standing there chatting decided to clean the table! It was left there for the duration of our meal. For the price of the food it’s definitely not worth it!

Food was overcooked, bland and overpriced, such a shame as its the only proper restaurant on-site. Wait staff were lovely but the food took ages to come out, which surprised me as I don't think any of it was cooked fresh.

Very poor. Told it would be an hour wait min for food. They wasn't busy when asked why this was the girl replied... I don't know!

This place was terrible and me and my family were appalled at the service of the food served here as well as the service provided by the employees. Allow me to list: Firstly, after we ordered our dishes, we were made to wait for +20 mins our starters weren’t even out yet and we only ordered one portion of their regular nachos, we had to ask the waiters to bring it out. Then, my fanta(the drink i ordered) came when i took a sip, it was flat. Which meant that it was probably out for a long time before we ordered it. Shortly after our main course arrived and when we ordered the mixed grill, the gammon was inedible (hard as rock), the steak was ordered as medium rare and came out as well done. They also forgot elements of our meal countless of times such as the gravy from our mashed potatoes, and mayonnaise on the burger which made it really dry. Lastly when we got our bill they charged us an extra £8 for a wine which was stated as FREE on the menu and the waitress justified it by saying that we had to order 2 burgers for the free drink and when we rechecked the menu low and behold it only said one burger one free drink.

Had a mix grill food was what you expected for the type of venue nice but nothing special. Didn't have to wait long for food even though it was busy. Service was great staff very happy to help

We had 2 meals at the Huffkin of Hoo during our stay, the service was absolutely brilliant. All members of staff were very friendly and welcoming, but a special mention for Lily and Hayden who were our main servers who made sure we had everything we needed, nothing was too much of an ask! Absolutely cannot fault them, they were a true pleasure. Our first meal on Friday was lovely, all came out promptly and as expected. We went for Sunday lunch, again came out in a reasonable amount of time. Roast beef and turkey was great and fair portion sizes, the pie however was absolutely rock hard on the top and literally inedible, and completely the wrong sides came out with the children's meals. So it seems like the food can be a little bit hit and miss but it's mostly fairly good and definitely much better than some of the other haven sites we've been to in Kent. Again the servers must be mentioned as they quickly, happily recitifed any issues we brought up! Overall a pleasant experience and nice option to have a sit down menu on site!

Service was amazing, there was a slight wait on the food, however it was well worth the wait! The food was hot and of great standard, I look forward to coming back :)

It was the first of the owners Christmas Dinners. The food was slightly disappointing as the sprouts and cauliflower were under cooked. The service and atmosphere were great.

Place run by children who are more interested in taking selfies with each other. I ordered the fish and chips. Chips were cold and the batter was soggy. Avoid at all costs unless you really set the bar low.

Not too bad at all for a caravan park. Child's portions are very small but once we realised everything was fine. Menu is OK food pretty good.

Well aint been to Allhallows in like 30+ years and my god its changed, last time i was here Allhallows was just a big field with a row off chalets and minimal caravans with 2 wooden sheds at the bottom of the big field, one for the arcades and one was a shop, well went to this lovely looking restaurant and ordered a all day breakfast, 6.49 for a spoon full off beans 1 sausage that looks like a Ethiopian index finger 1 egg 1 bacon and 1 hash brown, my 5 year old grandson got more on his plate then i did, i ate it and was not satisfied so went straight to burger king brought a 8 pound odd double bacon whopper XL which done the trick, my stomach finally got food in it. What happened to the brilliant days we had here 30+ years ago, my stomach was always filled, bring back the original Allhallows better for value forsure.. I dont mind paying extra for food if i leave with satisfaction not to leave a restaurant costing a small fortune and go to another food chain just to eat....Best thing about the new haven Allhallows is they sell stella, not the unfiltered stella tho.

The food here has gone so downhill since last year when it was superb, was charged over £30 for a mixed grill and it was absolutely horrendous, was like vacuum packed hospital food..

Absolutely STUNNING 😍 we Are Staying at Haven right now and we yesterday went to the Restaurant, we Went in and were able to get seats because there was barely any Reservations Mind you we went at like Lunch time. We sat down and Decided to get The Small plates which were AMAZING for the price And how much you get, We got the Fried Calamari, Loaded fries, buttermilk chicken and garlic bread! They were all Divine But the fried calamari took the spotlight for me, The only thing which was a little annoying was the music as it was pretty loud But that's all.

On the haven site did not eat just had a few over priced drinks

Worst customer service experience I have ever had, the staff seem to think they are working in a ‘Karen Restaurant’. We arrived about 2.45pm after a day out nearby and wanted to order food and drinks for 5. It was a lovely day so we decided to have our drinks outside and look at the menu. Inside there was a ‘go to the hostess bench to be seated’ sign, however there was no clear ‘hostess bench’ and no sign of any staff in the nearly empty restaurant apart from one woman who was filling up sauce bottles - for continuity we shall name her ‘sauce lady’. After standing patiently and being ignored by Sauce lady we eventually approached her and she advised we would need to be given the super secret menus they can’t keep on tables, from another staff member, who she screamed across the restaurant at. The stressed and busy looking staff member was polite and provided menus. We then approached the bar to be met by the blank expression of a red haired girl, who I will refer to as redhead going forward. Redhead was extremely unhelpful, disinterested and slow. We eventually received our 5 drinks one of which was in a glass with numerous heavy lipstick stains on, when we requested a new glass redhead rolled her eyes and simply picked the drink up and sloshed it into another glass in front of us?! My husband and and I were literally speechless. When we went back outside we realised all the chairs were covered in spider webs and bird poo. As the restaurant was empty and only sauce lady (who had ignored other customers and simply could not tear herself away from the task for a second) was present, we sat at a table near the door. At this point sauce lady felt the need to sprint across the empty restaurant to ask us if we had a booking and if not to move to the other side of the empty restaurant. This was frustrating, pointless and rude. We bit our tongues and simply moved. The kids were hungry so we just decided to make the best of it and order. I approached the bar and redhead looked me in the eyes and then disappeared in the back. I stood waiting for some time - being ignored by sauce lady- eventually another member of staff passing by shouted redhead to return. I tried to order some panini’s and was told that they had ran out of panini’s (despite the shop on site stocking them) and I could have a piece of bread instead. At this point I felt like I must have been in a Little Britain sketch because the awful service surely had to be some sort of joke. I honestly have never experienced such hostile, rude and simply horrible staff in a customer facing environment. The site itself is actually really nice but I would never return due to such horrendous staff.

Avoid if you can. While the staff are very friendly and polite, the service is very slow. The wooden tables are very sticky and the food is only really ok. Very kid friendly with a great kids menu though.

Absolutely the worst place I have eaten. After being sat at a very sticky table I decided to eat outside instead. It was 30 minutes before they came to take our order and that was only after I complained. Whilst the food was ok and reasonably priced, the staff were indifferent to our complaints and blamed staff shortages and everyone in management for the problems. Also left over food left on the next table for an hour attracting flies and wasps. I would never eat there again.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. An hour and half to get food no warning of delay when we asked we were told was coming. when arrived all the meals were cold and tasted horrible noone ate as was revolting. when complained noone were bothered told noone about. even though spoken to Dani and then she decided she didnt want to listen. all so rude.

Breakfast was okay 7/10. Dinner was disappointing. Ordered a burger with skin on fries and coleslaw. Burger was way overcooked with different filling. Skin on Fries were standard chips. No coleslaw available which we weren't told until we received our food. Ordered bread and butter which was £2 and it was one slice of bread. Food took an hour to arrive.

To begin with, table was so sticky even the napkins were sticking onto it. Cutlery was not clean and the food took more than an hour to arrive. The food was not nice either, Malaysian Noodles were sweet and vegetables were not properly cooked. Buttermilk Chicken Burger was not properly cooked.. would not go again !!

Dont waste the money service is so slow you end up having to chase staff up to take orders etc. Table is sticky paper napkin stuck to the table. Chairs are dirty and stained. Would never come back if you are going to charge restaurant prices I expect a clean place, good service and restaurant quality food this place has none of them. The staff were friendly when dealing with you just might not be enough of them. Would expect better on a haven site.

service time is shocking restaurant not even half full and foods taken over an hour now drinks getting messed up . things on menu for some people but off menu for us?

Didn't like why it took an hour to even get dinner wrong drinks starving thinking about leaving.

Food was cold waited 1 hour for it and they still couldn't get the order right the cheesy chips had no jalapeños and the lasagne was unedable vegan food wouldn't recommend for the price

Food is over priced for portion sizes. Charging £6.99 for adult breakfast but same size as kids £4.99 just with a silce of bacon added. Breakfast doesn't make sense. Food cold, no buttered toast. Food came out at different times for our table so couldn't eat together. one dish was so late everyone had finished before I received my meal. children's meal was supposed to have a potatoes waffle and came with a hash brown. scrambled eggs on toast came unbuttered and eggs like rubber. This isn't the 1st time we have had issued at this restaurant. over past 2years we have visited 4 times and the experience has just gotten worse. We won't be going back after this experience this time.

Staff super friendly, food and drink were nice, an enjoyable evening

We visited here today for dinner and we definitely won’t be returning. We waited over an hour for our food and when it did finally arrive some of the meals were cold. The table was so sticky, when you put your napkin on it, it stuck to the table and ripped it! When questioning about our food they did give us a free drink but by this point the damage was already done and we just wanted to leave. The staff were friendly, so I think the issue is not enough staff in the kitchen or perhaps the kitchen is to small for the amount of orders. On a side note, they did have a decent gluten free menu! Either way. I’d avoid!

We've been to Haven all hallows 3 times this year. We've eaten at the Huffkin of Hoo many times so we know what to expect. We always give ourselves an extra hour before we are going to watch shows as we know that's how long you'll have to wait for your main even if the restaurant is completely empty.Our last holiday we hadn't eaten all day on the Wednesday as we were so busy we went to the Huffkin of Hoo for dinner me, My wife and son all had burgers while my daughter had popping chicken. That night in the middle of the night me,my wife and son all had diarrhea and sickness my daughter was fine. It completely ruined our last day at Haven. We spoke to reception and were told to complain to the restaurant which we did we wasted an hour waiting for someone to even see us then they filled out a form and said they'll get back to us. We finally got a call back 4 days after we'd left haven explain that they had looked into it they gave the exact number of popping chicken they had sold but not burgers even though it wasn't the popping chicken that made us ill it was the burgers so I know they hadn't looked into anything or took it serious at all.They offered me a refund and said they'd send an email to get it sorted a week later and I'm still waiting for the email. Seriously has to be the worst customer service I've ever experienced we will be going back to Haven again this year but will have to look off site for somewhere to eat.

We went for roast dinner Sunday for carvery turkey in cravy veg in sitting in water and roast potatoes ok but we got it to the table and it was cold and Brockley was wet if you squeeze it water came out of it staff was lovely

Sticky table, 30+ minutes at least from ordering food, and the ribs were cold when they arrived. Service at the bar I’ll give 5/5 , food 1/10.

Another great meal at Huffkin of Hoo. The staff as always were excellent and looked after us really well. A special mention on this occasion for Joe and Sophie who were both polite, professional and friendly. A real credit to the Haven team.

The place is nice although it might need more staff. The table was a bit sticky and the food took a bit of time to arrive. But the food was a surprise for me. The panini was very tasty and at a good price. Overall it is a good choice in terms of food and price combination.

Walked in was seated, was told it was bar service, waited 7 minutes even for someone to appear behind bar, served someone else before us although we were there first just not standing in correct place. Decided not to bother. We are not staying on site just went for a look round. Food looked bog standard cafe stuff, not cheap either.

Due to supply issues so much was missing from the menu. Which limited our groups choices, portion sizes are a little on the small side, don't expect a stack of bones after the ribs more like bone chopsticks. Of 11 dishes most were luke warm the only one that came out hot was a dish that had been mis ordered originally, and we still don't know what happened here as we ordered spaghetti Bolognese but got a penne pasta dish which we were still charged for. We tried to play pool but half the balls are missing and the ones we did have didn't fit in the triangle. The restaurant was reasonably quiet and quite a few diners could be heard complaining about their food.

Service with a smile. Top marks for that. Food itself was bad. Spaghetti Bolognese had meatballs in it, chicken burgers as dry as cardboard. When we told the server our opinion, she told the kitchen and returned with the comment "I cannot repeat what the kitchen said". I am a chef myself, and if a chef cannot take criticism on the chin, they shouldn't be in the kitchen. It's not hard to cook chicken breast without turning them into cardboard. Quality of the food was not up to the standard of the pricing. What makes it worse, is that the restaurant is clearly one set up to use mostly pre cooked items, with the "chefs" finishing the dishes like a weather spoons, but even this was not done correctly. Calamari was chewy, Prawns had more batter than meat. Wasted money and time, left hungry.

Waited an hour for breakfast and it arrived cold, definitely would not recommend. - Toast burnt - Avocado hard - Poached eggs hard - Scrambled egg hard and cold - Bacon rubbery - Expensive - Small portions

Very slow service, but apart from that it was ok.

Rubbish. Served uncooked chips and cold tomato soup. Took three attempts to get soup hot and the chips were terrible. I would not recommend it. Staff and manager absolutely useless.

I was sceptical after reading the bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised that the service was very good, and the food was also of a high standard. Only reason I was convinced to go here was because it was very close. It was just quite expensive for the amount of food. Two meals cost £52 with 3 drinks. I can recommend the chicken tikka masala that was of a much better standard than normaly found at a pub.

As we was on Holiday we went over to the restaurant and was welcomed warmly and shown to our table. Ordered drinks and I ordered Hunters Chicken. My Wife wanted fish and chips and twice was told that they had no fish and chips. Which seems mad to me as we was right on the coast too. Anyway I got My Hunters Chicken and was ok I wasn't blown away and was tough too eat and was not impressed sadly. My wife after being told had no Fish and Chips she ordered the Lasagne and looked nice the garlic bread was just too hard to eat. Second time we went in for dinner we was given the dinner menus and then shown to our seat well then another staff member came and took the evening menus and gave us earlier day menus. Then I asked for the lasagne and was told they didn't have that today, again never had Fish and chips which was annoying again. So I ordered scampi and the scampi was overcooked and hard to chew. We never went back over there again. Oh and this is just madness we got told that Breakfasts were only served on Mondays and Wednesdays and weekends. So I assumed that people don't want breakfasts all week! If your.going to be open for guests then why aren't you cooking breakfasts all week? After all breakfast is the main meal of the day and would set us up for the day for whatever we decided to do.

Not the best. Poor quality food, slow and often incorrect service. However staff are pleasant.

Food was very nice. Service was a bit slow only one girl serving the tables. Quicker to go to the bar for drinks. Maybe they was short staffed that night.

It was nice but the food wasn't good and there was a lack of staff I would recommend just if your not getting the children's food

First impressions, lovely so far, been here one day and came here today for food. Friendly staff, checked back on our food, lovely big portions, the red peppers in my tikka were DELICIOUS! My wife had hunters chicken too much for her to eat but was lovely all washed down with a carling beer and carling cider! Can’t wait to come back! May I add the apple and raspberry crumble with custard, cream or ice cream is to DIE for

Had a really pleasant burger meal here. Service was good and friendly, restaurant was comfortable and clean and fairly busy. We enjoyed the food and drink, which was very reasonably priced with special prices on a selected items menu (two mains for £15). Great value.

Inconsistent rules about going to the bar, so confusing, slow service

Food took an age to come but once it did worth the wait could do with a makeover but a new one being built and so maybe to be demolished.

Food was OK, but took ages to arrive

If i could give it lower I would. Ordered 6 kids meals and 2 adult meals. The sausages on the kids meals were rock hard and inedible. My 2 and 4 year old refused to eat them. Ordered 3 portions of spaghetti bolognaise 1 in the bigger kids portion and 2 in the small. Yet they all came out exactly the same size so basically they are making you pay the extra money for the bigger portion for nothing. I ordered the fish and chips, the batter was thick and soggy like it had been sitting there for ages. I was refused a refund for the fish as the chef said he was happy with how it was cooked instead I was offered a free drink after 20 minutes of having a couple of mouthfuls of the fish I was sick. I wouldn't even bother eating I there better off with the fish and chip van or papa John's.

Really nice place to eat, prices are good considering your on a camp site, staff nice and friendly, just one little thing that's negative, the table was sticky after the cleaning of it

Well not only did i pay for an £85 meal to have it brought cold when asked if i would like a replacement they said they will do we found are replacement to be the cold food we had ordered microwaved we new this happened because we had already sliced ola bit of the steak and the same steak was returned to us when i explained to the staff it was the same and we new it had been microwaved they never enlven offered us any kind of compensation that u would expect when spending that much on your meal discussted isnt the word was terrible do not go there

Staff really young(inexperienced?)...got drinks order totally wrong & some food options unavailable. However all staff really pleasant..apologetic for incorrect order.

Lovely clean place good selection of cakes toasties and soup of the day recommend and connected to a vintage warehouse as well its a win win

Spent alot of money in this place , over the last few days , not great from the start , but tonight was the worst service, by far , waited nearly an hour for dessert,, for it to be left on top of the service area , and none of the staff knew whose it was , finally they realised , and the head chef if that's what you can call him , thought it was hilarious, and was standing there laughing about it , not great role material from someone that is supposed to be a professional

The quality of the food has become much better but alas the table service doesn't always seem to work, especially if you are seated on the Thameside decking. If you want a drink on the decking you have to wait until one of the staff come out.... I walked into the Huff and asked for a drink I was told to go to a table and someone will come out, well 25 minutes later still nobody! No good. On the plus side we had Sunday lunch there on Sunday and Faith was an absolute star.

Unfortunately this place know they have a captive audience. They want far too much information just to book a table, service was fair, the food quality was ok but could be so much better.

First the service was terrible, the table service is a joke, was so much better without it, it doesn't work not here. You are better going to the other bar for a drink and bringing it back it's far quicker that's what I learnt to do, the food is ok, get rid of the useless table service and it would be ok. Be prepared for a long wait if you choose to eat here not for the food just the staff to serve you.

Had a 4 day break at haven ate hear the 1st night the food was bad I had pie and mash if you are going to ting ting meals maje sure there hot the mash was lumpy I asked for extra gravy and got a thimble size cup My wifes&daughters meals where just as bad didn't eat there again Went to the Fell Inn And the Nags Head far better food and service Even the Millennium chippy just outside of resort was better and Cheaper than Cookes on site chippy £10 for cod&chips

Fantastic staff great food and drink , we will be back next year for more

Had a meal here one evening and was really pleased. Just pub food, nothing outstanding. Can't believe they ran out of milk and so did the store. Had breakfast there to and their whole site system crashed, refused cheque payment and Bacs transfer was asked to withdraw money from ATM, wasn't happy about this but did it as was leaving. Some staff friendly and go the extra mile, others not so.

Only pub grub,but we'll cooked and presented.

Nice on site restaurant / pub, plenty to choose form on the menu both adults and kids or just stop in and have a drink on the sun terrace. Prices what you would expect from an on site venue but to be fair they we reasonable given the large portion sizes. Would recommend if staying and fancied a night off the cooking.
