We found this place while having a wander, we were greeted by a pleasant young man who had just started working there and this was his second day. My partner had all day breakfast, I had cheeseburger, chips and onion rings, the food was very nice, very reasonably priced . Seems to be a regular haunt with the retired people, as the staff seemed to know them. I would eat here again if I come back to Lowestoft and will certainly recommend to anyone.

I've before when I was younger for food with the family, today I had all day breakfast. It was traditional breakfast. It was cooked perfectly and it had everything that was need. Maybe could of had black pudding and tomatoes on grill. Reasonably priced for sure. 7.75 for 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 hash browns and 2 sausages along with toast, mushrooms, toast and beans. Also the drink was included. Can't really complain.

We popped in for a cooked breakfast whilst camping. Howards Tea Rooms offers good portions for a very reasonable price and is excellent quality. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.

A little gem of a place. Outstanding service, food was lovely at a good price. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to trying Sunday lunch here if its as good as breakfast.

Charming little tearooms just behind the promenade. We didn’t call ahead and they were fully booked for 2 hours! We waited and glad we did. We had the Sunday roast and everything was served piping hot and delicious. Dessert was equally delicious and of a generous size. Service was friendly and lovely, they were so friendly towards our two children. Will definitely come again.

The owner made us feel really welcome, great sense of humour! The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were very organised and efficient. Really good value for money and we will visit again when in the area. I had the vegetarian roast which was delicious. Yes it’s old fashioned but that’s part of the charm, every table taken which speaks for itself.

Very friendly and the breakfast was just what I needed. A very good portion is given. The decoration and furniture let it down as it was quite dark and old, but I didn’t go for the decoration so my belly was happy.

Went to Howards for a second time, and can't wait to go back again. Food is excellent , good portions, beautifully cooked and well presented. The cafe is spotless and staff very professional and polite. My wife had a pork roast and I had chicken pie. Six portions of veg with each. Apart from a carvery I don't know where else you would get that. Prices amazing too. A little gem.

My friends and I were in Lowestoft for the weekend looking for somewhere to have breakfast. We walked into the tea rooms greeted by Howard real name something like Zaoshang (excuse me if I have it wrong) lovely man. We ordered 5 breakfasts plus some extras about 10 or 15 minutes later our food came out, fresh hot and local produce. Needles to say we returned the morning after before travelling home. I cannot recommend this tea room enough. Long may places like this exist.

Myself and my friend decided to visit Howards Tea Rooms for the second time as when we first went Dave was so impressed with his cappuccino and liked the look of the food the other diners were having. When we arrived I immediately made a beeline for a comfy bench seat but before Dave could have a seat, the waiter whisked his away and disappeared. After a few seconds wondering where Dave was going to sit, the waiter returned with a really nice padded chair for him (which I thereafter referred to his Dave’s ‘special chair’). The waiter handed us a laminated menu each and we ordered 2 diet cokes whilst we scrutinised the menu. The waiter returned promptly with our drinks, and left us to decide what to eat. I myself had only planned on having something light (such as a bacon roll),but Dave had decided he was definitely having a turkey roast dinner (for only £6) with a side order of roast potatoes. I looked through the light meals and decided on having the chicken burger with chips. After placing our order we weren’t waiting too long for our food to arrive. Both of us were impressed with the look of our food. Dave was delighted to discover beneath the slabs of turkey lurked a delicious surprise of a portion of sage and onion stuffing balls which wasn't on the menu. My chicken burger and chips was great and the onion rings were deliciously crispy. Overall I think we’d both give our visit a 10/10, and we will definitely visit again.

Visited for the first time today and will definitely be visiting again. Lovely little cafe just off the seafront. Me & my husband both had a turkey roast followed by homemade cheesecake. Both were delicious. They welcomed my dog and even offered her allergy friendly treats.

We went there for Sunday lunch both of us had beef. It was beautifull. Hot tastefull and great value. Followed by good old British bread and butter pudding The staff were welcoming and friendly.

Angry at the service it took half an hour for the drinks to come out and then about 20 minutes for food we had 3 roast dinners and there was a dribble of gravy they brought out 2 roast dinners and then had the wait another 5 minutes for another two dishes to come out and then another 5 minutes for the last dish and when we spoke to the owner about it he started being rude and shouting at us save to say we won’t be going back there he’s all about the money and not making his customers happy

Visited 17th August 2020, ordered two breakfasts, first tea and coffee arrived, found black hair one saucer, then received breakfast and found hair in it, told the gentleman and he said i have pay either way, told call environmental health, even said don't swap hair i had in tissue, also said I'm not acussing you of putting hair in it, i meen I'm not that desperate to avoid paying £5.50 for a breakfast very rude in everything he said, contacted environmental health just waiting for reply, will not be eating there again.

Roast dinner with fresh vegetables and a dessert for less than a tenner is total value for money in my book. Lovely staff, lovely food, and dog friendly if they're on a lead and well behaved. Amongst a mass of seaside chippies and kebab shops, this little gem filled my belly and put a smile on my face.

I didn't enjoy the food, & the service wasnt particularly good,. Thought I'd have a Change and go somewhere different for lunch!...The cutlery wasn't clean.. Came in for burger & chips., for lunch.. When it arrived it was 2 small, very thin Iceland burgers (patty's) in a small bun, & the chips were hard. I don't expect alot for £4.50 but it wasn't enjoyable or filling.. And all i could hear was lots of clocks ticking there's about 5+ clocks in the cafe amd its all you can hear.. Irritating... Some people may enjoy it the bit it wasnt for me, personally i wouldn't recommend..

Lovely home-cooked food which is delicious and a great choice of menu, plus amazing value for money and lovely polite service. This is genuine cooked food and expect to be really happy and content with undisputed great food to fulfil an appetite.

Perfectly cooked turkey roast, only downside are the squeaky, bouncy floorboards at the tables towards the rear of the eating area which is distracting when walked on by staff

I do not rate this cafe one bit. The young lad who served us with a group including children and fussy eaters was very polite and accommodating, willing to help. After ordering was told by the boss itself that they were unable to adapt the menu to suit our needs. This is not what I class as a good willing business to suit customers expectations

We visited this cafe a couple of times while in Lowestoft first time having cream scones which were delicious and the second time for dinner when my partner fell in love with the chicken casserole. Huge praise indeed from him and he would love the receipe.

On our visit to Lowestoft, while we walking around on the Sunday morning, there was a little rain shower so we dodged into here for a coffee. Whilst in here we fancied a little bite so we had a scone. Wow! What a great treat it was, turned up with cream and jam, and was warm! Brilliant! Only down side to the visit was the little fella who took payment, as he seemed a little put out that we had visited and made him work!

We stumbled across this place looking for some breakfast and were intrigued by the incredibly reasonable prices. When asked we were told they accept reasonably well behaved dogs as there isn’t any outdoor seating. The owner was really friendly with our dog even though he looked nervous and brought out multiple treats for her.The food was great value, sausages were particularly amazing and everything just was really tasty. They also had some nice placemats of historic pictures of Lowestoft which was cute. I would go again and recommend for a chilled out and cheap breakfast.

I ate at Howards on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and her sister and brother-in-law to celebrate my wife's Birthday and we all had a lovely meal. We rang to check availability the day before as it was Mother's Day and expected to be busy and they reserved a table for us. Indeed it was busy and there was a steady stream of customers eating there during our stay so clearly Howards is popular with the locals.The tea rooms are very unassuming, nothing fancy, but felt rather homely, with quaint furniture, displays of ornamental teapots and caddies, and it sort of felt like eating in someone's house...we liked that, it had bags of character.The menu is varied and for a small café they had a generous amount of choice, especially the desserts, with a long list of options to choose from. We all opted for a Sunday Roast meal deal, which for £9.95 you had a choice of roast meats (lamb was £1 extra), fresh vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and gravy, plus a dessert (sold separately at £3.50) and tea or coffee, which was great value.All dishes were cooked fresh to order, so there was a bit of a wait, but we all had a good sized plate of roast dinner, all with fresh vegetables (nothing frozen used), and it was served piping hot and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The desserts were also tasty and my homemade profiteroles were creatively presented with ice cream and chocolate sauce. The coffee was very good too.The only reason I have awarded 4 stars and not 5 was the slow service, as there was just one young man serving the restaurant, and although he was very polite and friendly he could have done with some assistance on such a busy day. Notwithstanding, we had a wonderful meal, good quality food, all home cooked, and terrific value. I would certainly recommend trying Howards Tea Rooms...it's Kirkley's best kept secret!

Walking down London Road and feeling a bit peckish we entered Howard's Tea Room.We were greeted and shown a table. After looking at the menu we decided that everyone could find something to ear, whether it b a snack or a meal. When our order came we were all pleased at our selections.Nice place, great food and very nice staff.

Great food great value good atmosphere where you will always meet lovely people and a lovely host that i can personally vouch for that he is more than willing to go out of the way to please,did also do evening room and sit down rent out service for small parties but not sure on that score now so please contact howard if that type of room/eve meal is wanted,food is delicious.

Great place, great home cooked food and polite service

Ordered the turkey Dinner waited nearly 45minutes the vegetables had brown on the ends,not very fresh,also there was some strange red cabbage on the side of the plate,all in all not a very good experience,I will not go there again and would not recommend this tea rooms to anybody.
