Amazing vegetarian crustless quiche! The sandwiches/ baps looked fantastic too - full of generous helpings of fresh, quality ingredients. Very friendly and efficient staff despite a long queue at lunchtime - I didn’t have to wait long. Think I’ll be a regular.

I honestly wish this bakery would be taken over by someone else who can run it better. If it’s not closed (now on a Saturday!!) …they’ve run out of everything by 1:30. Disappointing local bakery which I will never use again.

Had good experiences in the past. However today I ordered a cheese and pesto toastie and they gave me a cucumber, tomato and cheese sandwich cold, I asked if they could toast it but they said "sorry we would have to make the whole thing again"... well don't advertise it as a bloody toastie then! Just wanted a hot meal before work, not much to ask. (Reduced to 1 star as I'm now starving at work and having to carry a cold sandwich I didn't even ask for)... laughable. Was going to toast it myself when I got home but it had no cheese and was full of guacamole which I hate. I'm actually fuming.

Am going to give up on this shop. I used to always buy my bread here but I don't know why the change in supply but by 8.30 in the morning they've run out! Rows of empty shelves for a shop that's supposed to be selling bread is barely more than useless. Staff nice enough and I don't mind paying for decent bread but am having to go to Tesco local from now on just to buy a loaf.

I've been coming here for years and the sevice is consistently as great as the food. The cakes are second to none and the hot pasties are delicious, too. Highly recommend.

I’ll never shop here again because they discriminated against me for being exempt against a mask. I have a medical exemption, which I explained to the shopkeeper, yet she didn’t allow me to enter the shop and offered to serve me outside instead, in the freezing cold. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

It’s hard to walk past without buying something! I just had a jacket potato with homous and roasted veg with was great. I often buy bread from here which is very nice. Big selection of cakes and pastries. They also do some vegan pastries too.

Absolutely love the chicken, bacon and Avocado baguette they make. Speedy and consistent, love it here.

Amazing sandwich! Decided to get a sandwich, and was really impressed, the sandwich was massive and only £3.10. The granary bread was so nice, and so different from supermarket bakery bread, tons of filling and well wrapped I will be back!

Over priced. Asked for a sandwich on wholemeal gave me granary. When I told them I don’t like granary they told me that’s all they have after it was brought and paid for. Left it on the side and walked out in disgust. Terrible customer service and sandwich come to that.

Love the pastys here and pick one up when I can. Staff welcoming and friendly. Glad they are still able to open during this time.

Worth crossing over the station bridge for if you're ever in the area. Lovely cakes and desserts, the shortbread is delicious! Sandwiches and rolls are good too, they will make them up for you while you wait, there's a good selection of toppings and they're generous with the fillings. But definitely don't leave without a cake of some sort!

I had a lovely latte and a bacon sandwich. The bacon was crispy and next time I will have to ask for less crispy bacon. I am sure that they would do it. I will be going back again.

I loved going here for my lunch break, the desserts are delicious and the staff are super friendly. I know that a lot of people come from all over Hove to grab food from here so it can be quite busy around 12-1, but well worth the wait.

We popped in the other day to get a few bits and there was one staff on, we weren’t acknowledged when we walked in so we waited. Then the most miserable server asked us what we wanted as if we were putting them out by ordering. What’s wrong with a happy welcome, a smile, some recognition?! We’ve decided never to go there again as this isn’t the first time their service has been awful on Portland Rd.

Use this bakery every week usually for bread but often end up taking cakes home as well Last week hot cross buns which were delicious full of fruit and fresh baked At weekends have a wide variety of breads although granary always a favourite If you want to sit and chill always have tables outside that you can watch the world go by

I went into this bakery and there was one customer ahead of me. Two staff on. One staff dealing with the man ahead of me. The other staff chatting to her friend. Neither of them acknowledged me to say hi or good morning. I was standing there for ages as if I was invisible. I start shifting around to indicate that I am in a hurry. Still nothing. Two men get up from table and go ahead of me to pay. Eventually the chatting one comes over and I am a bit terse. I then get....thank you for waiting and have a lovely day in a sarcastic voice as if I had been in the wrong. Disgusting and I will never go in there again.

Great little cafe, if cakes were people these would be the King & Queen of all cakes! Wide range of choice, it’s hard to decide what have, chef must work really hard. Nice outside tables sitting watching the world go by. Staff very friendly and chatty always look after me when I visit. Really worth a visit.

Went in here after a walk on Sunday lunchtime. They have a good sized menu up on the chalkboard but when I ordered one of the jacket potatoes, there were non available. They don't do wholemeal bread only granary.

Really do enjoy their coffee and their pastries. The best pastries are the custard tarts from Portugal. They are so light and the pastry is perfect. Often use the branch in Portland Road. Great staff...,

3 stars and improving- been giving my custom since this place opened. All baked on premises and v convenient for me as a local . I now get a nice smile, a welcome and a thankyou! HOWEVER i can only think this is because people MUST have complained about service in recent past. I know of for people who have refuses to re enter the shop for the sullen staff. 2 people persuaded to come back and try . They did say mild improvement! One lady is now pleasant and smiling . The other looks at you blank faced. Shes pleasant and helpful when talking to you and serving which is an improvement on staff before! Te 2 previous ones would chat over you , ignore you whilst serving you but greet regular builder guys etc!! Often they'd just look at you when you got to the front of the queue and expect you to start talking and not bother with thank you after you passed you custom over. The owners need to remind their staff to smile when they greet people, pay attention to who they are serving and always a thank you at the end. I think they have now got this under control as otherwise nice bakery. I think it has relied on regulars but the market is too competitive for ignorant rude staff so well done Hove Patisserie on recognising finally!

One of our favorite lunch spots

Situated to the north of Hove Station, this is very popular with rail users and there are queues at rush hour and lunchtime. It does have a small seating area, as well as on the pavement, but due to it's location, it is more of a passing trade establishment.

When there for afternoon tea, tea room needs decorating, it's not very cosy nor inviting.

Just happened to be passing,& picked up a box of cakes as a late present.Sorry but don`t get the comparison with Greggs cos these were really gorgeous,fresh & great value. Also got a sausage roll to eat while driving, should of got six of these as well.Girl behind the counter could not have been nicer. Great place.

This is not a patisserie. Calling a tabby cat a tiger does not make it so. The products call to mind a 70's bakery - especially the poor cakes.

A bit rich calling it a Patisserie, more like a 70's bakery. Price is expensive for what is clearly cheaply made products, especially the cakes which are poor. Most of the Staff are friendly and for that they get an extra star. In short you can get better for the same price elsewhere.

I appreciate everyone is entitled to their opinion, but some reviews are irrelevant. This place does an amazing chicken salad sandwich, brilliant jackets and great cakes. So what if they didn't smile, offer to spoon feed or baby sit you. The food is great, service is good and there reputation and quality is unrivalled in Hove.

Nice atmosphere, friendly and local. I went in just before the lunch-time rush, hoping for a bacon and cheese turnover, which sadly they did not. Instead I got a breakfast turnover, which included Sausage, Egg, Bacon and Beans. Ignore the previous reviews, they obviously relate to the previous site (front side of the station). Decor is nice with indoor and outdoor seating.

Always a great visit, whenever I am in Hove I make a point of visiting the bakery. Their carrot cake is just unbeatable, if you haven't tried it get yourself there. The staff are great and the bakery has a great vibe. Well worth the visit !!!

Best place for a pre-rugby breakfast. Friendly faces and fabulous food!! Just north of hove station it's convenience is a selling point enough but it's got an amazing atmosphere, fun and friendly staff willing to help and top quality food to boot!

Visit this patisserie often as work just round the corner. They do excellent pastries and great sandwiches. Offer a selection of hot food which is usually soup or pasta dishes all appear to be homemade. Friendly staff too...

Just having patisserie in the name conjures up images of delicious handmade food. Sadly the only good stuff is the bread on a Saturday. Monday to Friday it's just plain white or brown. The cakes I have tried are worse than Greggs and the sandwiches are utterly uninspired and tasteless, sandwich fillings which would have been acceptable 20 years ago, but standards and expectations have changed now. With some more effort this could have been so good, but such a disappointment I have decided not to go back and have advised many against going.

Hove Patisserie is a lovely quaint patisserie with lovely food. We have had breakfast at it a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff the second time we were in were being very patient with a customer who was being very difficult which showed great restraint and very good customer service.

If fish & chips is not your thing, I think that the soup & fresh bread at the Hove Patisserie is probably the best lunch deal in Hove. The place is in a superb location (1 min walk from Hove station) and I have always found the staff very friendly and very able and willing to make recommendations. Add to that, that it's very clean and it certainly is right up there on my list of Hove eateries.

This is my favourite cafe in all of Brighton and hove, lovely food, great coffee, great price and a very friendly service. I go back here every week, it reminds me of how friendly Brighton and Hove used to be when I was growing up here.

The staff all need to smile more and be more open and friendly with customers. I always feel I'm in the way but their faces light up when a man comes in. They pay no heed to female customers. I've given this place my custom for many years and keep hoping it'll change. After this morning's miserable experience, I've decided never to go back .I suggest other locals do the same. I asked for a loaf and asked them to slice it for me. I was told they don't have time to slice the bread on a Saturday. ! what?? I've seen them do it for others.

Never had an issue with anybody there. Some people don't smile, some can be too chatty, its called life you Muppet. Personally I go there to buy the best bread in town. Who cares if someone doesn't smile, its about the product. Everything from salad boxes to sandwiches or rolls, made to order on the spot. Go there on a Saturday morning when they have stunning specialty breads. Try the cheese and onion or the chorizo sourdough. A couple of weeks ago they started doing a seeded rye bread. Its fabulous and the pain au raisin are to die for.

Have to agree with a previous comment, this is Hove best kept secret. I try and buy my lunch from here whenever I get the chance, always a great array of sandwich fillings available, along with hot snacks like sausage rolls and pasties etc. For me the attraction is not only s great choice of fillings but also the selection of breads and cakes cooked on site . The granary is so soft, in my mind it makes the perfect sandwich.

I have to agree with the last reviewer, one of the ladies - there on weekdays - needs to smile. She is very good looking but a smile would illuminate her face and transform her, but she is very, very efficient. Enough said about that as it's not important at all.

Customer service was appalling. I felt totally unwelcome in this bakery. Will not be going back. I was served by a blonde lady who clearly didn't want my custom.

bad bad service and not so nice food either. waiyed to be served 15 min despite only one person in front of me... in the end bought their sausage roll... but once back at work to eat it it turned out to be burnt! diarrhea came next. never again!
