Well known local pub with plenty of craft beer on. Couldn't see any ale or hand pumps. Friendly service.

Kinda dingey,grubby,place. I imagine some students would enjoy it,but,not a place for grown-ups!

I didn't have food, drinks were fine... Bar smells kind of bad abit like a wet dog soaked in yeasty beer. Mens toilets were pretty bad but I can't really complain about the staff

Great, lively and friendly place to go. Especially handy if ones night runs a little late.

Great experience! We sat outside in the sun and saw the ocean. Had a great Drink or two. The staff was appropriate friendly. The loo is very Clean. We sat there twice and there was a great Playlist as well. Like two hours and No annoying Techno or Pop stuff! Perfect!

Damn man. It has such potential! I had been following the launch of Dirty Dog on insta and was excited to go. The food itself was good - hot dogs were tasty but man the service sucked. If it was just one thing we maybe could have excused it but we had to witness two employees behind the bar chat and eat crisps whilst complaining about taking our order. Then food was served kinda cold without napkins and all different times. I had to go down and ask for a napkin and then was just pointed to a pile of them on a random table with only a few left. If your literally name is dirty dogs maybe preempt that people will want some kitchen roll on tables. I guess our final straw was already mentioned in reviews here. There were three of us at the table only one of us took them up on a free pint offer and what followed kinda soured our whole night. We weren't told it was only for Red Stripe so he orders what he actually wants give the token and walks off. Then the guy behind the bar starts shouting that he hasn't paid. We explain the misunderstanding and then even offer to pay for the wrongly poured pint and it leads to the guy who poured the pint being very rude and smashing the more expensive beer glass. Giving him the benefit of the doubt it was an accident but no apology from anyone caused a bit of an unnecessary drama that was obviously seen by other people in the bar. Shoutout to CutiePies and Fries at The Star and Garter around the corner if you are looking for a good example of a food pop up in a pub that slaps ✨️

Had a great meal here, bar staff are friendly and chatty, and service is quick and accommodating. Loads of vegan options for hot dogs and fries as well as beers so I felt really accommodated! Would definitely recommend.

Man with hat an tattoos was awful and should not be working in customer service he was rude and unhelpful and also smashed a glass when another customer got confused when he didn’t tell them the free beer with the hot dogs was only red stripe and proceeded to shout at them in front of multiple people which I can imagine is quite embarrassing no one should be treated like this I recommend getting new bar staff or you will mostly likely lose a lot of customers!

Was asked to leave a 5 star review for a free pint, which I never got anyway, so thought I'd leave an honest review. Good selection on the menu and the flavour combinations really work. I had the Chilli Dog. The others had the Mushroom Dog and the Embers Special Dog. We ordered sides of Slaw and Cheesy Chips to share. It was nice, but far from amazing. I love what they're trying to do here but the sausage is far too small. I know you can pay extra to add another sausage, but at nearly £10 a pop, the 3 of us agreed we would expect a lot more meat in the sausage to bun ratio, making the whole thing a bit expensive for what it is. Also I really can't understand why the guys at Filthy Dog have chosen this venue to work out of. The tables were filthy and full of empty glasses and empty food wrappers. There were more staff than punters when we went in. I asked the guy behind the bar with the tattoos and baseball cap on how the first weekend had been going for them, and he couldn't have seemed less interested and shrugged his shoulders. Also hitting the dirty glasses loudly with a spoon over and over and over again was very annoying. If I was depending on the staff at EST to be promoting my product, then I'd be massively disappointed. Wouldn't rush back to have the hotdogs, at least not at this venue anyway.

The vibe is immaculate, the staff are very friendly and the vegan selction is top notch. I'll definitely be back.

Banging new food spot. Actually butcher made hot dogs , none of that emulsified tech meat, served on freshly baked brioche rolls. Rich flavors and fun recipes with plenty of cheese - real parm that. The prices are competitive and match the delivered quality. Get your glizzy on here

Such a Friendly place and lovely atmosphere and dogs are all welcome, amazing knowledge of their drinks and when we say dogs welcome they fussed and treated Charlie like he had been there many times, can't recommended more highly

We had no idea what this pub space would be like but we dived in spontaneously and wow what a vibe. We ended up staying for our first whole night out because the music was 👌 and the atmosphere was so friendly and chill. The staff were cool and very prompt serving and there was plenty of space to sit and drink or dance. Highly recommend for anyone else visiting Brighton for the first time and wanting to be familiar with the people and culture. This is the place to be.

Best bar in Brighton, moved away a year ago and I still think about Monday and Thursday nights at East street tap.

One of the worst that I have experienced in Brighton. One of the red heads behind the bar told me to leave because i asked for missing beer twice. She sucks!

Atmosphere? Great. Staff? Lovely. Floors? Perfectly mopped. Seriously, the staff was helpful and wanted to make sure we were taken care of as we came out of the rain. A good selection of drinks and a staff that will take care of you. What more could you ask?

Pub is nice, didn’t have food so can’t comment but staff weren’t particularly friendly and stand offish when i asked a simple question. Answered rudely and walked off with attitude. When I mentioned it to another member of staff they were rude in response too. We had gone there late in the evening after a concert at 10pm and while I appreciate it must be annoying at times dealing with people that have had a few drinks, we certainly weren’t being a nuisance and its the nature of their business, customer service and basic manners should be standard.

We'd pre-booked and confirmed several times that we would be able to get in. Arrived to be turned away by an unpleasant doorman who insisted that we weren't welcome. We had a much nicer time in the star and garter round the corner. Edit: Here was our interaction for clarity: Our party: Hi we're booked for 12 of us sorry we're a little late Bouncer: Why are you here? Our party: We booked to come here for a night out. Bouncer: I said why are you here? Our party: Our friend is getting married in a few weeks. Bouncer: No stag parties. We were not evasive we were open and honest. Frankly the attitude of the bouncer was very rude and unpleasant. He was clearly looking for a reason to turn us away. He then tried to direct us to a bar that was entirely inappropriate and was extremely rude to several of our party. The manager came out and had to back her staff member and in so doing made it clear we and our custom weren't welcome. Unsurprisingly, the member of our party who had booked became very upset. He was then gaslit into believing that this was the reason for refusing entry. Obviously clairvoyance is an attribute required by bouncers. As I said, we had a lovely time in the star and garter. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The toilets were very clean and tidy. If you're after a happy and trouble-free night, you're best off elsewhere.

In response to Alice's response to Harv's recent review: So on the one hand, your policy clearly states that no stags are allowed, and the doorman must vigorously hound you to discover the truth, but on the other we'd have been let in if we'd immediately said "we're a stag"? Yes, makes perfect sense. It's amazing how we ended up enjoying a completely merry, incident-free night in the pub round the corner. Almost as if being on a celebration of someone getting married doesn't automatically turn you all into a danger to society. Absolutely delighted the other place got our money.

Not great beer, lots of generic beers on tap like kronenberg and strongbow. Had the stout but was not creamy

First time visiting. Crowd was good. Staff were kind. Music was good. Nice general mix of the more popular metal/emo songs. I get that they can't play lesser known music on a Saturday night. 2 points deducted for the absolutely disgusting toilets! My friend warned me about this before going, but there were literal puddles of urine all over the floor of the men's. I have been to almost every other bar and club across Brighton, and many in London, on Saturday nights. None were anywhere near as bad as this. All it needs is a mop to the floor every other hour or something. Otherwise, a decent venue.

Had a good night here last night, despite a couple negative interactions. We were told by the DJ we were “in the wrong place” - I assume he saw us, a group of women at a hen do, and thought that the music wouldn’t be our taste and the way he spoke to us was super rude. We requested Fall out Boy and he said they don’t play that kind of music there… and then two songs later played Dance, Dance. So bad vibes from the DJ, and some other men there were acting the same way - someone outside told us not to go in because we “wouldn’t like the music” - that’s not the bars fault, but just be warned to any women wanting to visit that you may experience this type of interaction here. People there acted like it was an underground alternative place, which is what we wanted, when really they just played all the hits (I requested Panic! hoping for an interesting pick from the DJ, and he played I Write Sins). Still a fun night dancing to our faves, but those bad interactions and the lack of actually interesting song choices means we probably wouldn’t visit again.

The songs being played were amazing and the atmosphere was just what we needed with the nice more secluded upstairs section but the bartenders were super rude, denying water to customers. I waited about 15 minutes after being asked what I wanted and about 10 other people got served before I gave up and went to find my friends again when all I asked for was water and the bartender kept ignoring me after that. I talked to one of the other girls at the bar and her friend experienced the same thing. Eventually my friend went and had to be more assertive to get… like I said… a glass of water. Shocking if you ask me, especially in an environment where it’s crucial to stay hydrated. But I guess they only care if you’re spending money on a drink.

The DJ on Saturday was amazing! Great vibe in there too.

Stopped in for the vegan Sunday roast, on a day trip from London in July '23. Delicious. The chef was very accommodating and friendly. This meal was better than most in London!

I don't get to go out much these days! But i went out a few weeks ago with some friends and we ended up here and im so glad we did! No drama, just pure fun and nostalgia...theyve managed to make a venue fun and current whilst also feeling nostalgic of my youth and im so grateful for it! Nothing but fun vibes and staff! Didn't eat so didn't mark what their food was like. Really great place for a dance and a sing along

Was on holiday to Brighton. Happened upon on this bar, omg so glad I did! What a fantastic place, great music, loved the decor and really well keep beer. What made it for my husband and I was definitely the bar man, totally awesome chap named Troy, he was brilliant with recommendations and descriptions of the beers and was really funny. We only went in for 1 but stayed for 4! He was funny, made us feel really welcome even though we are older, and kept us totally entained. I wish more bars employed people like him. He really made our night.

Popped in here for a couple of pints after work this afternoon and can safely say it was the most pleasant experience I’ve had in a Brighton pub in a very long time. I was greeted with nothing but smiles and joy by the fantastic bar staff - particularly Sam with whom I had some lovely chats and banter. Always nice to feel welcome in a nice establishment and to meet staff who take the utmost pride in their job. Think I’ve found a new local boozer! 10/10 (especially the music selection)

Came in on Monday for emo night and enjoyed the dj set along with the lovely service from dyar behind the bar!

Many eras had been and gone since I entered those dark wood doors. I decided to change that this week, an older man with a large hat somewhat similar to a wizard had recommended this alternative UV covered venue. As I entered I heard sounds of the old punk classic such as The Misfits and the modern Emo (Taking Back Sunday). Such a beautiful and inclusive venue, any type of alternative can find a place here. Dj's on most nights, playing ranges from 80's classics to modern deathcore. What a world we live in when we have a venue that can cater to the whole alternative market. Rumour has it that every single one of the bar staff are wonderful and attentive. Honestly East Street Tap is what every alternative venue should strive for. Troy is also ruggedly handsome and so knowledgeable on the whole craft beer industry. I hope he goes far!

East Street is good vibes, music is always on point, many drinks to choose from but the biggest shout out goes to Sam John who is the best bar man in town in my opinion! Always great service and chat, he clearly goes above and beyond outside of the responsibilities of his role as well.
