On the evening spa break, ordered the burger which tasted greasy and disgusting and inferior to Mac Donald’s! My wife ordered the flatbread and pigs cheek small plates-again all precooked, tasteless. Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel.

Had lunch here as part of a spa day booking. We’ve visited before a number of times when you got a balsamic vinegar / oil dip with ( I’m told ) fabulous bread or in my case, gluten free bread as you waited for your food. The menu when we’ve been before was interesting but limited for a gluten free diet and servings were, in my opinion, small. This visit however, the menu had changed. Gone is the vinegar/ oil dip and now you can choose two courses each from a number of bowls / plates of food. We chose salmon teriyaki poke bowl, chicken Katsu, Pad Thai and pork yuk sung and added fries, although you could choose from puddings also. Only one of the main meals wasn’t gf but it was adaptable. All meals were delicious and this is a far better lunch break than the previous offerings. We ordered fries based on the amount of food the ‘old’ lunch provided, but servings were generous and we honestly didn’t need them. Service was ok, we had to wait to get a bill for the fries but this didn’t distract from the lunch which was simply delicious and was a worthy break away from the spa itself. Bring on the next visit…please.

A great place to relax and enjoy fabulous food, especially on a spa day! Desserts are out of this world! My friend and I cannot praise the staff and service enough, friendly, funny, professional customer service. Would highly recommend a visit!

We went for an afternoon spa experience and as part of this we visited the Horto cafe. I ordered the coronation chicken sandwich on whole meal bread for £10, when it arrived the bread was like best of both or 50/50 slices with minimal filling and had obviously been made up earlier because the bread was starting to dry out. On the side was a small pot of vegetable crisps. My friend had the same with prawn and avacado which was equally poor. A meal deal at the service station would have been better. Very poor food for a 5 star hotel spa. It’s not difficult to use nice wholemeal and add a bit of salad. The spa was very busy but is the best in the area with very helpful staff and fantastic outdoor pool area. Avoid the sandwiches!

After a lovely morning rooftop spa for our wedding anniversary visit I felt really let down by Horto cafe. I ordered a halloumi bowl £14. Unfortunately the salad it came with felt gritty in my mouth which upon further inspection unwashed salad leaves with visable dirt on the leaves. This made me feel a bit sick after I realised! I did quietly and politely tell the Horto staff they politely apologised and said they would log the complaint. They offered dessert but as service was already very slow i had to go to leave time to pick up my child from school.

During a stay at Rudding Park we decided to forsake the Clocktower and had breakfast at Horto instead. I admit we did feel slightly out of place being fully dressed as all the other diners were in dressing gowns, HOWEVER we soon overcame this and enjoyed a great breakfast cooked to order and served by great staff.

We used this between Spa Treatments to get some really well presented food in the form of a sharing platter. The atmosphere was excellent, busy but relaxing at the same time. There are plenty of staff making sure your needs are catered for without making it rushed experience.

Brightly lit and created like a Veggie's Lunch Room. Small menu, small portions, expensive, and delivered with an attitude. Not your relaxed dinner spot.

We spent the night at Rudding Park and we had two days at the spa and two lunch time meals at the Horto cafe. I thought the menu was very basic and the options on the menu were very limited and all too identical. I don't eat pork and can't eat nuts, nearly everything contained nuts. I did ask if it were possible to have one of the dishes without the nuts but was told that this would be impossible so I ordered the goats cheese and beetroot wrap, there was hardly any goats cheese in there it was mostly beetroot so I paid £13 for a beetroot wrap. The second day I ordered udon noodles which were not nice at all. I had one spoonful and left the rest. I visited a year ago, April 18 and the menu was a lot better, more options and different dishes, some people may not want a salad bowl (there were 6 variations of salad bowls and everything else contained nuts!). Skinny fries have been taken off the menu too sadly! I have another spa day and lunch booked in two weeks (pre booked) and I've no idea what I'll order. It's a real pity because Rudding Park is my favourite spa and hotel but the cafe is such a let down!

We were staying two nights at the hotel so thought we would enjoy the new cafe and spa! Absolutely brilliant spa but the cafe service was ultra slow, so slow we left and ordered at the main bar. We were fully dressed so also felt out of place when we walked in, felt like we were being stared at by the service people and we should have dressed ‘appropriately’. We didn’t realise it was ultimately just a spa cafe rather than a new addition to the hotels eatery’s. Excellent place to have food and drinks if you are at the spa all day. Healthy food choices etc. The next time we visit the hotel, we will organise our times better so that we will be in the spa and then eat in our robes haha.

We returned to Rudding Park and Horto again yesterday and only wish we could have stayed longer. We were greeted by Agnieszka like returning friends rather than customers and this adds to the personal, relaxed air of the spa. The food on the brunch menu was delicious. My wife has dietry restrictions which Agnieszka remembered and we were excellently catered for, with alternatives to the standard menu suggested without us having to ask. My Horto breakfast this morning was very tasty and filling without being overfacing. I have a healthy appetite and I still didn't feel the need to eat until tea time - no doubt due to the Birthday Blueberry Muffin I was presented with completely out of the blue - thank you! Once again, thank you Agnieszka and team for another wonderful addition to our stay.

We ate here at lunch time as part of our spa package. We selected a main and a dessert each and all were disappointing to say the least. The vegetable Thai Curry resembled rice pudding in both its consistency and appearance. A tin of ambrosia would have been preferable over the tasteless slop that cost £16.50. The other main was fish cakes. Two minuscule fish cakes served with a teaspoon of grated carrot. I would agree that quality over quantity is key however the fish cakes were over done. The desserts, defrosted and overdone in the microwave, followed on from the main as expected. We would usually raise any concerns we have directly with the restaurant but we weren’t asked until the end of the meals, by which it was too late to make changes. The feedback we did give when asked wasn’t welcomed. My advice would be to skip the restaurant altogether and enjoy the excellent spa facilities this place offers.

Had a very fresh and tasty scone and Yorkshire tea with friends while enjoying the wonderful spa. Light, airy and modern decor in keeping with the spa and top class service in keeping with the hotel. Great that you don’t have to leave the spa to eat and drink

We stayed at the hotel and used the cafe for breakfast. It has a peaceful charm which suited our needs rather than the bustle of breakfast at the Clock Tower Restaurant .The granola was superb and the cooked choices were tasty and well presented.

Oh. My. GOD. Let me tell you about my night at this pub in Knaresborough because, honey, it was an absolute disaster – and not the fun, reality-TV kind. No, this was the kind of drama that would make a telenovela look like a casual tea party. I sauntered in, thinking I was about to have the night of my life – and with this face, why wouldn’t I? The place was cute enough, I’ll give it that, and I thought, “This might actually be fabulous.” But oh no, darling, the universe had other plans. First off, the online ordering system was down. DOWN. In 2024! I mean, I might as well have been trying to send a telegram! The whole point of going to a pub these days is to sip a cocktail while casually tapping away on your phone, right? But noooo. Instead, I had to walk to the bar like some peasant from the 1800s. The nerve! The bar? PACKED. I could feel the wrinkles forming as I waited, endlessly, for someone to notice me. And when they finally did? They had the audacity to act like it was my fault that their ancient system had crumbled. I swear, I was two seconds away from giving them a live performance of “And I Am Telling You” right there. But wait, there’s a twist: the toilets. GORGEOUS. I mean, I walked in and thought I’d been transported to a high-end spa. Marble, mirrors, the lighting was divine—honestly, it was like a little slice of heaven in the middle of this disaster zone. I spent more time in the bathroom admiring the décor than I did actually eating or drinking. Priorities, darling. So, here’s the tea: if you’re after a stunning restroom experience, by all means, swing by. But if you’re hoping for decent service or a smooth ordering process, save yourself the heartbreak. I left hungry, frustrated, but at least with a fabulous selfie from the loo. 1.5 stars – And that’s only because the toilets SLAYED.

We asked for a vegan plant based product and got a cheese lattice. After my wife bit into it and tasted the cheese she took it back and was meet with sass and attitude. Then the manager brought over the vegan roll with no apology just banged down with more sass, then banging chairs around us to make us feel uncomfortable. May be time for HQ to come and conduct some training In customer service or time for people who are obviously not happy at work to find a job where they don't have to deal with members of the public.

We recently stopped at Wetherby Drive Thru and were refused service as we had a dog with us. We all know that Costa have recently changed their policies and allow dogs in most coffee shops. Despite sharing the specific branch amenities stating dogs allowed the staff were totally inflexible. Staff should be fully aware of company policies and Costa should update door posters at the same point in time with such changes to avoid ambiguity. Finally staff should not hide behind the fact they are a franchise, branches branded as Costa have identical look and feel and follow same policies otherwise there are inconsistencies which lead to poor customer service and satisfaction.
