Hooked in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Had a brilliant time at Hooked - we booked at the last minute looking for some yummy fish in Cornwall and Jade couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was just a treat, as I had a fish platter that was to die for and the perfect amount, whilst my partner had an Indonesian fish curry that she loved. Epic desserts as well. The service from all the staff was accommodating, uplifting and just downright lovely from all the women serving. We can't wait to come back when we're in the area again.

We booked a pre-theatre meal. Three of our party hadn’t been before and were very impressed. The service was excellent and the staff were fully aware of the time we had before our theatre visit. The food was excellent and flavoursome. The presentation of our meals was very good and piping hot! I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant that is so convenient for The Hall of Cornwall or for a lovely meal in the heart of Truro.

Went to Hooked for a Birthday gathering and we pre ordered the main courses as it was a large group. Jade and all the staff looked after us and the food was delivered at the same time. Everyone in the group was happy with their choice and will no doubt visit again. Thanks for a great evening and sorry for being so late with my review.

Never been before but excellent attentive and efficient staff. The food was superb. Haddock Kiev was inspired and one of the best things we have eaten anywhere. Add jasmine rice as an accompaniment and the meal is fantastic. Moules Mariniere as good as anywhere in the continent Not cheap but excellent value for the food we ate

Absolutely blown away by every aspect of this place! The greeting from the beautiful & friendly girls that work at Hooked was a lovely start to our dining experience. The decor is spot on & gave Me total holiday vibes. The description of the wines on offer prompted Me to try a couple of new ones rather than sticking with My usual NZ Savvy B & I was not dissapointed,the 3 different ones we had were gorgeous. I had the Muscadet & a beautiful portuguese number & he had a beautiful smoky yet fruity Pinot Noir. We shared the seafood platter & the pork belly which were both incredible! The homemade bread was buttery with a nice crunchy crust. I normally forgo dessert but I knew that the options here would be diviiiiiiiiiine,so I went for the Lemon tart...the buttery base & creamy zesty filling was topped with a crisp almost creme brulee topping,the shards of meringue melted on the tongue & the raspbery sorbet & jellee were perfectly tangy & sweet. The girls had a giggle with us throught the night & made the experience of trying this place for the first time absolutely perfect. Probably be there once a week now to try out everything on the menu.🦞🥂💙

Very busy on a weekday, which in Truro, is a very good sign, particularly given that this restaurant is quite pricy. We were slightly disappointed to be told on arrival that there were no mussels available, which is not to be excused in Cornwall! We’re also not convinced that the mussels in the bouillabaisse that we ordered to start were substituted with something else as it seemed empty. That said, the food we did have was excellent and though we had a longer wait than we would have liked, it was worth the wait, hence the 4* rating overall. The menu choice was enticing and the setting pleasant. Would we recommend? Yes. Would be return? Yes but maybe not in a hurry.

Das Essen war nicht wirklich gut, aber auch nicht wirklich schlecht. Es fehlte an Gewürzen und schmeckte durchschnittlich. Die Preise sind dafür eher gehoben und beim Bezahlen kommt es dann zu der unangenehmen Situation bezüglich des Trinkgeldes. Es werden dann unterschiedlich hohe Prozentsätze (10%, 20% und 30%) angezeigt, unmöglich dann kein Trinkgeld zu geben. Ich kenne das eher aus den USA, in England ist mir das so noch nicht passiert. Das Interieur des Restaurants ist allerdings sehr schön gestaltet.

Popped into Hooked on Monday for lunch with the wife. Very quiet as we were early. Staff were very welcoming and the menu was lovely. I opted for the arancini and then the pork belly. The wife went for crab tacos and then hake Kiev. The food was beautiful to look at and tasty to eat. Lovely cocktails too. Thanks for the recipe. Look forward to eating there again soon.

great flavours just don't go if your hungry. between a table of 6 we tried 5 of the mains that where on offer and all had a absolutely amazing flavour but in reality there was only enough food on the table for 3 people at max and we all left hungry and disappointed. despite the host reducing the bill after commenting on portion sizes we still felt a little ripped off.

This restaurant is simply lovely. We had booked telling the staff it was Maya's Birthday. We arrived and were directed to a table for four with special comfortable chairs and a Birthday card from the staff , seriously , never had that before. All the staff were so friendly understanding and yet efficient. Three of us had the fish curry which was just delicious and Maya had the Linguine we shared different starters and had two deserts . The ambiance food and staff made for a special evening which we will all remember,and we will definitely go back to asap.

If you are on a diet , the ideal place to eat . The most slender piece of fish with palest batter , 12 chips and a desert spoon of peas and the added lustre of ‘all’ being served on a piece of soggy pseudo newspaper . A saucer would have sufficed . For sure , you will not put on weight here …….. and maybe a good incentive to grab a Chinese on the way home .

We booked a table here as we were heading to The Hall for Cornwall in the evening. Perfect location as only a minutes walk away. The service was very friendly and the food tasty and very well presented. Starters - Crab Nachos and Crab soup . Mains- Fish and Chips and Indonesian Fish Curry. Finished with Hooked on Chocolate and Affogato. A surprise at the end as we got 10% off on their pre theatre deal. We will be back.

Lovely atmosphere the outside of the restaurant gives the wrong impression, food tasty and definitely cooked fresh , fish is a great choice on their menu, good value for money , deserts also great hade made on site, great bar and wine list

We try to come here each time we visit family in Cornwall. Our visit on the. 19th of March was very good. The staff are always really helpful and knowledgeable. The food is excellent if you like seafood I would definitely recommend coming to hooks for a meal. It’s a lovely comfortable atmosphere so excellent wine and food.

I had the seafood patter which was excellent. Perfectly cooked scallops, king prawns, mussels and calamari all served in a tasty sauce with samphire. Utterly delicious!

First visit this weekend having lived in Truro for 7 years now and must say it was great , excellent food , lovely staff and ambience , will return for certain and would highly recommend.

Spontaneous first visit - just happened to be passing - for Saturday lunch when visiting Truro. Excellent food - we had the the local-caught battered Haddock which was very good indeed. Atmosphere and ambience very good - and service prompt friendly and efficient. Value about right too given quality of food. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Had a nice meal here a couple of days ago. Restaurant was quite busy but the service was good. Our only gripe was that we’d come here particularly for the fish - and both fish main courses on the menu had been taken off as they’d sold out … and it was only 7pm! Surely a primarily fish restaurant shouldn’t run out of fish mains so early in the evening? On the positive side the starter and main courses we did have were well executed however the frangipane dessert didn’t quite work. Been put off returning because we’re not sure we’d want to chance if they had any fish left :(

Friendly staff nothing too much trouble for them. Nice fresh food, and a white chocolate cheese cake to die for.

Located in Truro, Hooked is the ultimate seafood hotspot that'll have your taste buds doing a happy dance. We ordered Scallops, “The Doughnut” beef short rib and Wild Mushroom Linguine to eat and The Mermaid cocktail and Elderflower Spritz to drink. We finished off sharing a Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake. The flavours in all the dishes were out of this world and I can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve visited while visiting Cornwall. Hooked is a cozy and welcoming restaurant and the service is excellent . If you're celebrating a birthday or just craving some seriously good food, trust me, after eating here you'll be ‘hooked!’

Having walked past the restaurant many times since moving to the area, we finally made the effort to book a table at Hooked in Truro to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we’re very glad we did. The food was beautifully fresh, well presented and most importantly tasted superb. We ordered extra starters as we couldn’t decide on what to have from the various dishes on offer and we couldn’t fault any of it. The chefs clearly take pride in what they do and the fantastic food was coupled with a great atmosphere and attentive and friendly staff. We were very impressed with our first visit and it certainly won’t be our last.

Had an absolutely amazing lunch here today. Looked after brilliantly by Sharna and Lexi, who were attentive and friendly. We had the special starter - short rib beef "doughnut" which was just fantastic, so fresh and clever, and perfectly sized for a starter. Then for lunch I had the hake kiev which was delicious, while my other half had the Indonesian fish curry which looked and tastes vibrant and zingy. Best of all was pudding - the white chocolate / raspberry cheesecake, and frangipane tart, were inhaled in seconds! All pretty reasonably priced and in a really relaxed comfortable setting. We've eaten in plenty of places in Truro and this is right up there! Can't wait to come back on our next trip.

Went for a celebration meal with friends. Everything on the menu was clearly marked with whether it was gluten free or not. I checked anyway when ordering and was reassured everything I ordered was gluten free (because I have coeliac disease). Starter and main were lovely, no problem. I ordered a pudding and when it arrived it had what looked like a crumbled up biscuit on the plate which I didn't remember being on the menu description. I thought I would just check, so I asked the waitress if it was definitely gluten free because it looked like a biscuit. She assured me everything on the plate was gluten free. So I started to eat. I was about halfway through my dessert when the waitress came over and took my plate saying 'the chef hasn't put the chocolate soil on, I'm going to ask him to put some on'. A few minutes later she came back with a new dessert - without any of the biscuit on - saying 'sorry about that, the chef has done you a new one because he didn't put the soil on. I thought it looked a bit pale. He's not our usual chef, he's f***ed up.' I said 'what was it then?' and she said 'shortbread' so I asked 'was it gluten free?' and she said 'no' (starting to look a bit sheepish) She asked me 'will you be alright?' and when I said no she asked if she could get me anything. I said no and she said the dessert would be taken off the bill. When I went to pay she didn't apologise or say anything about it. Having coeliac disease I am now ill and will be for the next few days. Mistakes happen, but if you are not sure you should always double check, and if you accidentally serve someone gluten you need to tell them straight away, not make excuses or go round the houses about chocolate soil. It shows that they do not take dietary requirements seriously which is a real shame as it's a lovely restaurant with otherwise brilliant customer service. Really disappointed and ruined the end of our meal.

We have eaten here many times and food is always top quality and the service is friendly and courteous.

Hooked were very helpful they: - emailed a copy of their Christmas menu to me (the 1st one didn't arrive) - answered my questions about service charge (10% is automatically added to the bill), but you can ask for it to be removed I don't go out for a meal very often because a lot of the food has garlic & or spices etc in it, but I really wanted to join my friends for a Christmas meal (and enjoy it as well) so: - I asked if I could have food without garlic, pepper, mustard & spices & they (unlike many other places) said that if I let them know beforehand, the chef could do so. My 'plain' cooked chicken with veg etc tasted really good - I asked if there were any options to the 3 choices of dessert & they offered me ice-cream or sorbet, which was brilliant And, their Christmas menu had both fish & meat dishes on it & the staff were incredibly helpful, cheerful & efficient
