Excellent scone (grandma’s recipe) and tea out of china cups. Unlike many other cafe/teashops in Knaresborough, it’s open after 4pm and dog friendly.

From walking in and the warmth and welcome I knew I had chosen well, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who immediately made us feel at home, I asked if our cockapoo Harry was ok to come in and she replied of course, we sat in the window so harry wouldnt disturb other diners, the waitress gave us timer to get settled before coming over, we asked for scones tea and coffee and a dog bowl for harry so he could have a drink, we were seen to promptly, friendly and it was spotlessly clean, warm, inviting and the scones were gorgeous thank you 5 *

Came here for lunch with my young daughter. I wanted a fry up but I am pregnant therefore I asked the young waitress if the eggs are lion stamped. She looked and me I said I dunno. I asked if she could check. Another older lady came out and asked what I was talking about. (The young lady stood behind her and they were both staring at me). I explained (relunctantly as others were listening) that I was pregnant and can’t eat undercooked eggs unless they are lion stamped. The older woman said I’ve never heard of that. I honestly did not know what to say. I asked again if they were lion stamped and she said no we get them from a farm and repeatably said I’ve never heard of this. I felt like I was being interrogated and causing a nuisance. Other customers were present and watching this and I found it really embarrassing as they both stood over me. Their attitude was intimidating and unpleasant and completely unnecessary. We won’t be returning again. I didn’t order any food and explained calmly I had found them rude and the young girl walked away and the older lady never came back out.

Today I visited honeybees for my lunch and I had a beautiful tasty homemade feta cheese tart with salad new potatoes and coleslaw and it was beautiful there was plenty on the plate and I wish I took a photograph but it looked so yummy I had to get tucked in, also had a pot of Yorkshire Tea for one, here is the Shocking part before I typed MY review, I have read previous reviews and have been shocked at what they have said so here goes... in the past this cafe has had some staff who did not respect or have a clue how to work in a cafe but they are long gone thankfully. If frequent this Cafe regular as is a delightful place 2023. The quirkiness of the decor going back in time and staff most welcoming and friendly and the Owners are friendly and nothing is no trouble. The food is ALL Homemade and made with ingredients source from local shops and every Wednesday from the weekly market. I have NEVER had a bad meal or drink here. As for prices they are set for the quality of the drink you are to drink and the meal you are eating which is homemade and not out of a packet or a microwave meal etc. Remember if you have a complaint grow a backbone and please bring it up to the server or owners and it will be rectified and Please do not voice your views on here or any other trip platform as its rude and not very friendly. Your words could destroy a business THANKFULLY this cafe is Very Busy each day it is open and the Staff are here there and everywhere so be patient they will attend to your needs if you have a limited time mention it to the server who shows you your table. Well that is my rant over. Please be kind to each other and remember Typed words can hurt.

The service is slow and haphazard, admittedly the servers are young but they obviosly aren't really trained and quite often are no where to be seen. The food and drink is expense for what you get £4 for a large filter coffee that was so weak i had to wonder if it was coffee. £8.25 for a toasted sandwich. I know prices have gone up everywhere but this is ridiculous. Won't be going again.

There was a good selection of sandwiches ham, coronation chicken and egg. The cakes and scones were delicious and the fruitcake with cheese a lovely touch and one you don’t see very often, I loved it. Staff were friendly and attentive but not uncomfortable so. Well really wish we hadn't entered this place. My first time in Knaresborough was taken by family members as a birthday treat. My 5month twins were also with us. After a couple of hrs we were ready for a coffee and of course the girls were hungry. Was looking for a place where I could get a double pram inside. I walked in to ask and this lady who I presume was the owner looked at me with daggers! I went back out but was called back saying there was room. Well we all went in. Struggling while staff watched us get settled. Clearly disgruntled when the girls were screaming waiting for their milk. The young lad serving us did not want to be there that was obvious. We ordered our lunch. A bowl of soup was missing and had to ask for it. Tbh food wasn't that bad (cake was dry but soup really tasty) it's a quaint little cottage of a cafe but is ruined by very rude staff avoid this place and find somewhere else.

There’s a few point about this cafe. The cafe has very low morale. A lot of staff are very young and clearly don’t want to be there. There is a high turnaround in staff. I did speak to a young girl working one Sunday she was pleasant enough but could tell she didn’t want to be there. I later could hear what I believed to be either the manager/owner speaking to their staff like rubbish. This is obviously a reflection as to why staff feel the way they do. The prices are really unreasonable for just average food. This is just an average cafe in an old quirky building and that is the only thing that gives it character.

From the outside this little cafe looked like exactly what I wanted. Somewhere cute, cosy and local to grab some lunch. I will always make the conscious effort to support local businesses, so it's very disappointing when it doesn't live up to your expectations. The cafe itself was a bit grubby/dirty round the edges and the food was poor. My jacket potato was clearly microwaved as it was so dry and barely cooked with hardly any filling to cover it. A knob of butter would have helped! The side salad was tiny too and some of the leaves had gone bad.Really not a good experience!

Looks good from the outside and is shabby chic inside. Unfortunately there are a few things that need more care with. Tea pot was dirty on the outside and the tea cold on the inside, we had to ask for some hot water. One soup came cold and had to be warmed up and topped up, the other contained a piece of polythene, not home made? Brunch was good, potato was good. To be fair we were not charged for the soup with the polythene which was good. Pity as it does look good from the outside.

We were recommended this quaint little cafe because of its good food. Unfortunately that was not what experienced - we waited a long time for our food and when it came it wasn’t as per menu description and my daughters crumpets did not follow. We waited a further 5 mins as we were told they were coming but had to go downstairs to chase them. When they did finally arrive the butter was too hard to even butter the crumpets. When we asked for softer butter this was then brought to us by the chef asking if we had a problem - she very quickly told us that she was the only one working and that the wait was therefore going to be expected.

We were disappointed after having lunch at this quaint little cafe in Knaresborough. The sandwich we ordered was made on cheap white bread. A miserable side salad made of a small piece of iceberg lettuce and two slices of tomato. My jacket potato was also poor. The filling of bacon and Brie were hardly enough to feed a mouse. The only good thing about the place was the cup of tea. We were served by a shy young man who did his best but there was no atmosphere at all. Called here for lunch and we were so pleased we did. Very generous servings at a very reasonable price and everything was delicious. Yes it is rather quirky but this just adds to the ambience. Will definitely visit again.

I have no doubts whatsoever that the cakes etc are all homemade and the the Victoria sandwich cake was very nice however we thought it was quite dirty, the cabinet which the cakes were displayed on could only be described as filthy really, dirty around all the handles etc. Also we also thought very expensive for what you got, but everyone to their own and you decide..

My husband and I had the pleasure of calling in to Honey Bee's for a cup of coffee last week and was delighted with the very good coffee, and excellent service of the very friendly hostess. The coffee was the best we had tasted whilst on our trip to lovely Yorkshire. We can fully recommend Honey Bee's and only wish that we had had time for something to eat as well, as we are sure it would have been very good. Here's to our next visit.

Telephoned Honey Bee's mid December to ask if they were opening New Years Day. The lady said they hadn't made a decision yet but would ring me back - true to her word, she did & yes they were opening. We reserved a table for 5 for lunch & after a brisk walk along the river etc we arrived. The staff were attentive & very friendly & our lunch was delicious, particularly the slow roasted beef! There was a menu with paninis, wraps etc & a specials board with hot meals, steak & ale pie, pasta bake etc. Desserts were homemade & served with a generous helping of cream/custard.

Popped in this morning for a hot drink (-1 outside) very nice atmosphere and staff. After looking around town and looking for somewhere to eat couldn't find anywhere as nice so went back to Honey Bees for a snack lunch, what a good choice bri & cranberry panini was excellent, was full when we went in this morning and full again when we went in for lunch two hours later. Owner said she had just ran out of soup ( they had four different varaitys) well recommended.

This is a little gem. One of those quirky little places where nothing matches but it just makes it more homely. Family run and all home baked. We had the most flavoursome gingerbread latte and much better value than the big brands. Everyone was so friendly we will definitely come again.

A Tea Shop and Restaurant with great tea's and cakes although quite expensive at £10.00 for 2 tea's and 2 scones, it also has a restaurant with a lovely varied menu all served in wonderful surroundings and a building dating back to 1622.

We visited this cafe for coffee and scones. We were 5 minutes too early as the latest batch of scones were still in the oven. It was worth the wait! Delicious.

Honey Bee is just what a tea shop should be. Mismatched china, smiling staff and divine cakes. Lunch was excellent and the lovely waitress even gave me a copy of the recipe for her delicious cake. A must if I visit Knareborough again.

My wife and I popped in looking for somewhere to have a nice breakfast and it was definitely not a disappointment. She had poached eggs on toast which were cooked to perfection and I had a farmhouse brunch which was top notch. Without a doubt one of the best breakfasts I have ever had - will definitely be back next time we visit Yorkshire!

Went into Honey Bee's cafe after a day out in Knaresborough with a friend. We received a warm welcome from the lovely staff and proceeded to order a ham and cheese toastie and a mushroom and Stilton panini, to say it was tasty was an understatement! Would return without a doubt and would definitely recommend!!

Happened to be passing and spotted this lovely cafe so came back with hubby for lunch. Sat inside at a table in the window. Lovely clean and bright decor, staff pleasant and efficient. Not a vast menu yet we found something we liked and enjoyed our lunch, honest prices too. Took some brownies home with us and they were lovely, particularly liked the salted caramel. Great little lunch stop, recommended.

Me and my partner stayed in the area and booked in here for an evening meal last week. What a lovely pub. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The open fire was just what we needed after a day of walking. The fish pie was delicious. My partner enjoyed the lamb shank. Would definitely recommend people eating here .

If you like M&S, then you'll find Booths to your liking. Excellent choice and the staff very polite and helpful. Cheese scones have gone up 25p a pack. (Really?)
