Had lunch today on a wet Monday. Welcome warm, staff attentive & food wonderful as always. The terrine & butternut squash & orange risotto starters where outstanding Our 4th visit & will not be our last.

Really good value for money on the lunch menu, and the service was excellent. Food was good and plentiful.

The best Sunday lunch in town in my opinion. Beef served pink was amazing. Crab starter was delicious. Cheese board from local cheese shop was beautiful. Service was fantastic. Definitely worth every penny we will be back….

Excellent menu for early doors meal and all four of us really enjoyed the two course meal we had . Lovely venue with warm atmosphere. Excellent evening had by all ! I believe in fair reviews and judging by first impressions. i try everything once, if its not great i am not returning nor am i complaining on the day as i shouldn't be put in a position to be made uncomfortable or make the waiter feel uneasy. if it is a great spot, then fantastic. on this visit.. I couldn't understand how my steak was cooked to my liking (medium rare), it looked good and was presented well, yet when i was eating it, it was a bland chewy mess. I couldn't eat it. chips were lovely. the tomatoes in the salad were not the freshest as the were very soft. I paid £4 for a 250ml of coke with ice!! They don't do pints which is fine but to charge a customer £4 is mad. also, the desert was good. nothing special but again £8 wouldn't pay that. overall, the atmosphere was okay but i wouldn't go back again. after spending over £100 on our meal we would not be returning. there are far better places to eat. it felt more like pub food at very expensive prices!

Excellent value for money. Fish cakes with poached egg, delicious. Chicken with mashed potato and wholegrain mustard, delicious, strawberry ice-cream is amazing. A great night out.

Went last night for dinner, food was superb, staff were lovely, would recommend you book as was busy even at 7pm. When back in Harrogate would certainly go here again, couldn't fault anything.

Just had amazing Sunday lunch at the Tanin Level. We hadn’t been for a while and certainly didn’t disappoint. Quite pricey compared to others in town but the quality of food and service was first class. This was my first time to the Tannin Level and had reasonably high expectations, having viewed the Sunday Lunch menu online, prior to the booking. The welcome was warm and we were seated on a slightly awkward table for two near the front door. My partner and I ordered some water for the table which was kindly "iced and sliced". This was about as good as the experience got, in all honestly. Surprisingly, our two roast beef dinners arrived within minutes of ordering... Presentation not bad but a little stingy on the spuds (1.5 potatoes per plate) The beef was really nice as you would expect for "min 28 day dry salt aged beef", however, the rest of the food on the plate was so underwhelming (and undercooked!) The potatoes (3 in total) were dry, the green beans weren't cooked properly, the cauliflower cheese sauce was watered down/ runny and there was some sort of orange puree which my partner believed was carrot, but i'm not convinced. Unfortunately, there was no check back from the waiter to express our thoughts. As soon as my partner had finished chewing her last morsel of beef we got up and left without ordering dessert. We picked up some sticky toffee pudding from Waitrose on the way home! Overall, we were really disappointed by the experience (4/10 is our final rating) and left feeling disappointed, hungry and out of pocket! I won't be in a rush to return to or recommend The Tannin Level, which didn't meet our expectations. There are plently of other options in Harrogate for a good Sunday Roast.

Just had a great meal at the Tannin Level. Food was excellent. Service friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is welcoming, warm and relaxed. I can highly recommend the crab to start and duo of beef. My husband loved his scallops starter and the trio of pork, followed by what I'd been unable to finish because the portion sizes are so huge. Very reasonable priced for such excellent food and service. Thank you for a lovely meal. Would have loved to have stayed longer and had pudding, but my poor health interrupted. Will have to come back. Hopefully soon. P.S. There's unrestricted on street parking during the evening.

Great food well set up staff great Sunday lunch briliant. Freindly atmosphere.

We really wanted to like this place, the location was good, very clean, service good and food was quality, but a few aspects let it down for me. High price expected in Harrogate but £5.75 for an own brand 4 2% 330ml bottled beer was excessive, nothing in draught so bottles only, also no background music made for a dull atmosphere, and at this price point I'd like to see table clothes instead of my glass and shirt sleeves sticking to the table.

We're fortunate to have numerous good quality restaurants in Harrogate, but The Tannin Level, which is independently owned, is on another level. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, the staff and service are consistently good and the food exceptional. The chef is clearly very talented and the evening 'Special' of fillet of cod with crab and prawn soufflé, Queenie scallops veloute, etc, was spectacular The desserts and accompanying dessert wine were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend it.

One of Yorkshires outstanding restaurants- I first visited in 1991- the place, food, service are top quality with a rare informal refinement that is difficult to find. Their produce and preparation is second to one.

A superb restaurant with excellent food and amazing staff in a lovely part of Harrogate. An intimate and genteel atmosphere with candles and tables set well apart - brilliant!!! A tale of 2 halves - excellent service and friendly staff. But meals came out within minutes of arriving, my partners pork meal was enjoyable but sadly my lamb meal wasn't as meat very tough (couldn't cut) and carrots hard. The brulee dessert were nice but cold and prefer when served warm. I didn't complain as restaurant was filling up with lots of guests at this stage. Sadly felt disappointed as opted for Saturday night more expensive menu and my expectations were not met so all in all poor value for money.

Very good! Goats Cheese Creme Brulee for starter! Will try to recreate that one!

After having this place on my bucket list for many years I finally decided to surprise my wife to a nice weekday lunch. We chose from the £23 for 3 courses set menu & we were not disappointed. The food was top class, well presented & excellent value for money. We shared 2 starters between us: the risotto & the fish cakes, both of which were superb. My wife had the lemon chicken breast & I opted for the burger which was indeed the best I have tried in years due to it being a proper locally sourced butchers burger with real slices of cheese & 2 hearty rashers of back bacon. Next time I would prefer to swap the fries out for a few hand cut chips instead as the couple next to us were eating fish & chips & they looked absolutely divine & a generous thick cut. We both had the sticky toffee pudding which again was a good sized portion & owing to the fact they came with 2 jugs of extra sauce they were not dry unlike we have experienced at other places. First time we have opted for fine dining in Harrogate town centre & we will certainly return again.

Called for lunch here, not been for a long time and don't understand why? The lunchtime menu is very simple - fish and chips, sausage and mash, burger etc. I had the grilled chicken that was a little tasteless but the jus and mash with it was delicious. The burger was quote 'the best I have ever had ' Good sticky toffee pudding and crumble that was a bit too sweet served with ice cream. Only bottled beers available and I was shocked to pay £3 for bottled soda with my wine, would have not had it if I had known! Service was very good. Have to mention that some of the seats are very uncomfortable church pews, avoid if possible. Unfortunately we were given one although normal seating was available. 🥴 We will return for an evening meal and hopefully get a nice table.

We visited this restaurant as a family of four. We opted for the 3 courses for £20 although one of our party opted to try the tasting board as his main course. Waiting staff were polite, welcoming and service was efficient but not so brisk that we felt hurried. We really liked the feel the place. The food was everything we’d been lead to believe it would be and the tasting board was well worth the price. We didn’t sample the wines as this was lunch and we’d driven a fair distance so felt that it wouldn’t be fair on the chauffeur. In conversation with the waiting staff, we were encouraged to return to try the Sunday lunch. Based on the quality of the meals we had just enjoyed, we didn’t need much encouragement. Paraphrasing the Terminator, “we’ll be back”!

We had a very enjoyable Sunday Roast here. The food was excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. Although it was excellent, it gets 4 stars because it isn't the best in Harrogate but its certainly up there.

I took my wife out for a lovely Valentine's meal here. My word, the food was phenomenal. I knew it would be good quality, but this was on a whole new level. So far, this is the best quality meal out in Harrogate I have had. The service was excellent, attentive but not too in your face. Well done, I will certainly be back at a later time for more.

Stayed over in Harrogate with friends and had a wonderful evening here. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted with smiles and looked after brilliantly. I couldn't help but notice they had a 'front of house team of the year' award on the bar and it's not difficult to see why. The food was to die for, generous portions of high quality local produce; we all loved it and cant wait to return the next time we visit Harrogate. Thanks to all.

We were excited to try here after a number of recommendations. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We waited a long time to order drinks once we were sat and our two glasses of white wine that arrived room temperature. The chap serving us replaced them with perfectly fine wine straight from the fridge but was very rude about and said “well if you want it any colder than that we can’t help you” which felt very unnecessary. We eventually ordered our food which when came was nice, but the whole experience was let down by front of house staff who were all a mixture of rude, slow, or inexperienced. Won’t be in a hurry to return

I have been coming to Harrogate for years on business and never knew about this restaurant, but was recommended by customers. We were sat in the last room at the back and my complaint was we were too near other tables, and it was hard to hear what my table was saying. We shared the platter board for 2 which was huge! It would have done for 4 people and there was 3of us. One of us had the fish special which she said was excellent. Myself and My boss had the chicken dish. The chicken was a little dry and the fondant potato hard, which was a real shame. The front of house team were excellent and very attentive. Would I go back…….. maybe

We was stopping in Harrogate for the weekend and wondering where’s should we eat. So glad we booked here the food was great and the staff was great too me and my wife had great evening. Wonderful!

Our first visit to the Tannin Level, after recommendations from friends. It was a 10 out of 10 meal ! Service and food were exceptional, making it a great evening celebrating my Wife’s birthday. We went with friends and all the mains and desserts were amazing, highly recommend the chicken main course. Our new “go to” restaurant in Harrogate!

We have been coming here for a number of years, mainly in the evening but tried Sunday lunch which we enjoyed apart from Kale. This is cattle fodder and who decided to replace spring greens with Kale God only knows but it’s everywhere. The service and food was tip top but the experience was slightly dulled by the appearance of the place.. For example leaves which fell in November are on the steps and entrance and are a slip hazard. The decor is tired and the gents needs a new radiator because if you put it at the side of a urinal it gets sprayed with urine mist and stains. I know it’s not easy running a small restaurant in a small town but appearances do matter. Will certainly be back.

I can't think of anywhere better to be on a cold blustery day than having a hearty Sunday lunch. The Tannin Level and its staff consistently deliver excellent food and service and it's up there with the best of our independent restaurants. Good to see it being well supported for what can be a challenging month.

Fabulous birthday meal for 5. Lovely warm welcome and excellent service throughout. All the food was excellent, including starts of Boudin Noir, haddock and leek fishcakes and mushroom and fennel soup. The black sausage in the Boudin Noir was lovely and soft and very flavoursome. Generous portion with sautéed potatoes, spinach and a poached egg. My main of 6 hour braised featherblade of beef on mash with caramelised onions, peas and celeriac purée was absolutely delicious. The trio of woodland pork received rave reviews as did the sea bass fillets from the specials board. The meal was rounded off with a good choice of cheeses. We enjoyed a couple of bottles of the montepulciano which we thought was good value at £26.95. Refreshing to have the table for the night and not be rushed when restaurants increasingly limit you to 1.5 or 2 hours. Can highly recommend.

Whilst there are many restaurants in Harrogate, The Tannin Level is my firm favourite. The staff, ambience, welcome, and environment are always superlative. Spotlessly clean and well presented, down to the very last napkin, the food is exquisite. Yesterday's visit was as spectacular as always. Our waiter was professional, polite, and humorous and gave excellent recommendations. My dear friend, who is a wheelchair user, was escorted to our table by a wonderfully kind young lady. We have never had a bad meal here, and indeed, the Boudin Noir is the best starter I have EVER had - check the online menu for what this consists of!!! The Pan roasted duck, with accompaniments, was exquisite. A very warm welcome on a very cold January evening.. Well, well done, Team Tannin Level.. it was perfect. Thank you.

Fantastic lunch meal for my wife's birthday. First time visit and would highly recommend. Superb service, very attentive and helpful. Lunch menu was very reasonably priced. January mid week when we visited so fairly quiet.

Excellent food, they only serve 175 ml wine glass which is always known as a medium and 9.50 for a rioja which is very expensive, they refused to serve drinks in the back room as the card machine does not work, either ask for cash or ask to add it to the bill do not leave guests thirsty. The waitress could not squeeze between the chairs in the back room so made it very uncomfortable being pushed and shoved by the waitress. We did have an excellent quality meal.

Absolutely outstanding food - the mixed platter starter is fantastic, the fish, the fish cakes, the paté, the chorizo, etc, 10/10. Gorgeous beef main course, meat flaky and tender. Great service. Reasonably priced for the excellent standard of food and service. Highly recommended.

Had dinner here with friends, of which two are vegans. The vegans had the risotto with beetroot as a main. I think that £17 for a portion of beetroot risotto was pricey. It was eaten very quickly. Tannin level is a nice restaurant but pricey.

The family had a wonderful lunch - this was our Christmas celebration and it did not disappoint - all three of us had different starters and mains and all the dishes were beautifully presented and totally delicious.(goat cheese crème brûlée, French black pudding, Scallops followed by Duck, Cod, Lamb). We could not decide on a favourite as they all were so good. Ellie has made this a real gem - great atmosphere and very good service. A must in Harrogate dining 🙏🙏

Read some great reviews but can't say there was anything outstanding, the food was okay but nothing special, service, well they stick on a 10% service charge for a table of 6 and over why? When we sat at the table no one offered to take our coats and they just hovered whilst we sat waiting to hand us the menus. The serving staff were not attentive and we had to call them over to say we would like to see the dessert menu. Service charge seems to be an excuse for restaurants to rip diners off, I do know its discretionary and has been standard practice for a long time but service in the past was service, staff went out of the way to make customers feel special.

I visited with my wife on 26th September this year. Very friendly staff. The food was excellent. Our main course duck was perfectly cooked and the burnt shallot sauce was a perfect accompaniment. Overall, a great evening at an excellent price.

From the moment we crossed the threshold the service was exceptional. This place has a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere, no trashy music, just a lovely hum from the diners enjoying their evening. The choice of food was fantastic, making it a difficult decision but everything that was served was generously portioned and beautifully cooked, if I could have gotten away with licking the plates clean I would have. Definitely worth a visit, and we will on our next visit to Harrogate.

Warm welcome from the start, cosy table for. Wonderful selection of food & wines. Had pork 3 ways & slow roast lamb, cheese selection & chocolate dessert stunning & the Greek dessert wine was stunning.

Greeted in entry and shown to our table. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. It’s such a cozy, welcoming place and the staff are just great. The food was very good. The wine is nice but a bit pricey. Good beers though!
