Holmbush Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

went in yesterday, havent been in for a while, glad we did, service by 2 young ladies,asset to the homebush, food was great, will be back soon

Ordered pork & noodles but too grease smelled bad I did tell the staff all they say was that they are sorry will not go back I did inform bar staff that the food was crap and I didn't receive any check or asked if I wanted anything else

Absolutely smashing mid week roast dinner. I opted for the beef which was cooked perfectly. Fluffy potatoes along with other seasonal veg made for a perfect tum full of food. Lovely friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere too, what a great all rounder The Holmbush Inn is.

We called in at a lunchtime and were welcomed by the friendly staff. There was a wide choice on the menu & some good offers. The food was 1st class. The whole pub was so clean too. Visiting the toilets before leaving saw them 'fit for a Queen's! All round excellence. Thank you.

This was our only visit of our holiday . Now previously we’d have made many visits to the pub during our week . We parked up , entered the pub and found the table Went to the bar to order food : but was met hu some rude locals who didn’t let me get near the bar to pay . After this we went to get our food Normally on a Sunday lunch there is : Turkey / beef / gammon / pork Peas , carrots , swede etc Mash and roast spuds We were told no Turkey but would be getting some for Christmas. Is a Turkey just for Christmas? Cabbage , cauliflower cheese , swede , red cabbage , parsnip and roast potatoes . So a few vegetable varieties missing . Now as I said we’d been here before and had some of those missing vegetables, meats and spuds …. Consequently we left feeling a little disappointed. And as I said we didn’t go back that week .

Just popped in for a pint. Decided to have lunch and the food was excellent

Never been in a pub where you have to eat while freezing. Several people had coats on while eating their meals. When we mentioned to staff about it being cold in here, we were told to run a few laps of the bar or jump up and down to warm up. Won't be back here again.

We ate here after a visit to the area. Lovely decor & atmosphere. Really dog friendly with treats, bowls, blankets! Food was great for all of us, as was the service.

Nice place to have a meal. Kid and dog friendly. Only reason it's not 5* is that they had some board games to play but none where playable due to missing pieces. Good free WiFi. Good service and good.

Met some locals inside the bar who were incredibly nice and very accommodating. Unfortunately all the bar staff cared about was cleaning and closing the pub. They were extremely rude and didn’t want our custom. It was very disappointing after last time we visited the waiting staff were very welcoming. It was 2115 when we arrived and didn’t allow us to finish our drinks at 2250 saying that they gave us plastic cups and we had to leave. There priorities clearly lied with getting home and not the experience of there customers

Called in for a quick dinner, own car park nice seating areas. Large menu. Had scampi and chips with mushy peas, very nice. Clean toilets

I had the most amazing birthday lunch today, food was so yummy very friendly staff I recommend holmbush inn

Nice pub resturaunt. We are local so pop in occasionally for a drink. Preferred it before when the pool table and quiz machines were there but still nice. Havnt eaten here in a while but always seems busy. Not keen on location which is why it's not our preferred choice. Good parking behind but right on a main road.

Fair price for a nice Sunday roast and a cuppa tea. Shame I could try the beer, but nominated driver for the day.

Love this pub! Looks great since the refurb and the food is spot on too. Sunday carvery all round and not one complaint from 5 of us. The regular size was plenty big enough, especially if you want dessert after.

Dropped in because it was very close to where we were staying and found great food, lovely service and a welcoming atmosphere. Just like a good pub should be.

Excellent menu, more diverse and even a little quirky, compared to the standard chains. Great food, and good beers, with quality service, and all at a reasonable price.

Looks lovely from the outside and just as nice on the inside that's were it ends. The Pork and Noddles dish I ordered was without a shadow of a doubt the most bland tasteless meal I've ever been served I had to ask for some soy sauce to give some semblance of flavour !!!

Everything and everyone was brilliant, nothing too much trouble , it can’t be changed only downside is the parking , but when inside for a carvery well it was superb everything was great and cooked very well all meats were very tasty and tender top marks will be back again 👌👌👍👍👍👍

Very happy with our lunch today. We stopped as we were passing through we were glad we did. I difficulty choosing what to have because there were lots of dishes I wanted ( which is my definition of a good menu, a bad menu is one where I have to pick the least boring dish) . The staff were friendly. Food was served all day. A big advantage for us was that they're dog friendly. You never know what you're going to get when you just pull off the road but on this occasion we're we were blessed.

My husband and myself were recently in Cornwall for a short holiday. We arranged to meet some of my lovely family (who reside near St. Austell) at this venue for Sunday Lunch. All of us chose the Sunday Carvery which I can honestly say was the best carvery I have ever had. None of us were disappointed. Generous portions, good choice of meats and Vegetables and all very fresh and hot. The staff were really friendly and helpful. My Nephews son - that being my great nephew and his girlfriend have a very young baby, so we were found a table in a corner out of the way which was so appreciated and perfect for feeding the baby. I can thoroughly recommend the 'Holmbush Inn', my family will definitely be using it again as will we next time we are in Cornwall.

Fantastic food! I'm not sure when they updated the menu but WOW! It is great. The menu used to be very plain, so much choice now. Good portion size & reasonable priced

My son and I came in on Tuesday 27th for an evening meal which we loved. The food was amazing and all of the staff were so lovely and welcoming. We enjoyed it so much, we returned last night and the service and food were amazing again. The lovely lady (I’m so sorry, I can’t remember her name) who showed us to our table last night remembered us from the previous night which was lovely. Unfortunately, we were only staying in the area for 2 nights, but we will definitely be back when we return to Cornwall.

Very nice place to eat and allow dogs and cater for them too. Very friendly staff and very friendly. Meal was nice. Prices are ok.

Visited here today with my cousin. Wow impressed great refurb smart but still has character. I had ploughmans home made slaw mmmm.

First visit for us here and we were certainly not disappointed . Huge dog friendly pub/restaurant and very busy but all the staff were very friendly helpful professional and handled the busyness very well indeed . I had the homemade steak and ale pie my wife had the homemade seafood gratin . The food and service was first class so much so , I sought out the manager to thank her and to pass on our thanks to chef and staff . Really was a lovely meal .

We were on a weekend break for our anniversary and went in for food as we googled it was dog friendly. It was amazing. Staff so helpful and it was busy but plenty off room for everyone. Drake our dog loved it as they had a dog stand full of treats,water bowls and blankets. The food was stunning . What I would call home comfort pub food. I had the seafood gratin and its the best one I've had anywhere. Big chunky haddock,salmon and prawns with a breadcrumb and cheese topping. My husband had the steak&ale pie. So chunky. We thanked the manager it was that good. Gonna go back again when we come down next as I bet the roast will be amazing

Really friendly place for a good meal. Family and dog friendly, and a nice little selection of tabletop games to play with children whilst the food is being cooked. Top notch

Lovely place to go if in Cornwall and if you have dogs they are made to feel most welcome they supply dogs with a bowl and even provide a blanket during the dogs stay our dogs loved it fell asleep on the blanket whilst we ate our meal food was delicious 😋 😊

Really friendly staff, we sat outside in the sun with there big umbrella to give shade to my sister. loads of indoor seating aswell We had fish and chips &vegan burger, very yummy, decent portions. free tap water, dog friendly

Out of area on holiday from Newcastle and booked a table on a whim. Arrived to a lovely bright clean bar area where and bingo was in full swing, table clearly reserved and accessible, great selection of alcoholic beverages both local and international. Food was lovely, we picked off the specials and went with chicken and chorizo skewers, and, garlic and basil linguine

On the 10th me and my family went out for dinner on a holiday visit. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Also The food and atmosphere was excellent. my dogs also felt welcomed with free treats.

Went for family meal very nice meal I had hunters Chicken my Wife the fish and chips which looked very nice a good size potion. My hunters chicken came with chips chicken well cooked could have done with a few more chips

Everything at Holmbury was good service and pleasant atmosphere sadly was let down no mash potato and the beef was too chewy elasticy my dog had the meat... sorry true.

Stop and go in for great value, good service and comfy surroundings. This Inn is on the main road, but does have a large car-park.

It's great to have the Holmbush Inn back to being really good again with these new tenants. Staff are Great, The Food is Great and there is a lovely atmosphere. We will start using it regularly again.

Absolutely love their carvery, lots of veg choices, roasties are crispy, choice of beef, turkey or pork, thick gravy and mahoosive yorkie pud. Friendly staff, average price and all round good service

We had the best experience in your venue tonight, thank you. Haven’t visited for a number of years but I think we’ll be moving to you for our local from Charlestown. Although busy the staff were friendly, good with our kids, the atmosphere was fantastic, drinks really good. Kids loved their food, great options for them, and we got to start our weekend relaxing with some decent wine, enjoying time together in a great environment before coming back to settle the kids at home, 10/10! X

Most expensive little bottle of prosecco in UK at £9.50 I feel ripped off

Visiting friends and they told me this was a regular place for them. Bryony served us at the table and apparently from no whitebait being available the food we had was tip top. Returned on the following afternoon after a day's sightseeing and had far too many pints of Tribute! If you live in St Bkazey or close to this venue please, do yourself a favour and give it a try. Recent menu changes and staff are excellent. Older & fussy customer was very impressed.

Poor excuses for missing items on salad. " new chef", "we really only do pub grub", At the prices being charged, excuses don't wash! Will not be visiting again...

After waiting for 15 minutes, one of the staff came to us and said what did you order again. ?

Fantastic food and lovely homey atmosphere. Everything was clean and well presented and well worth the visit.

Complete disgrace. Food was disgusting, microwaved to within an inch of its life and the staff were even worse. Nobody even checked back, more concerned with their own social lives. Please don't go here.

Not been to the Holmbush for about 18 months. Wow what a lovely evening we had. Our meals were perfect, the staff brilliant and nothing too much trouble! We couldn't ask for more

Not the best Carvery but perfectly acceptable, plenty of lovely tender meat 😀. The veg however could be better but even after saying that I will return for another Sunday Carvery. The Inn is mega dog 🐕 friendly and treats for your 4 legged friend are there for them to enjoy 😉

Food and service good but unfortunately we were given a table in the conservatory and there was a really noisy crowd on the next table. We ended up moving tables after the meal.

Don't get me wrong; the food is very decent pub grub: reasonably priced and big portions ...you won't go hungry. Not very refined but they're not pretending to be anything other than pub food. Excellent staff & service, comfy & spacious. Nice for just a drink too. Patio at front, patron parking at rear.

Visited on a very soggy, dreary day and was greeted by very friendly bar staff. Food and drinks were great value for money, not to mention very tasty and oh so filling! Exceptionally clean and tidy throughout. Definitely recommend, especially if you have dog(s). Looking forward to our next visit!

We have been using the Holmbush Inn for several years mostly for lunch and have always found it welcoming and the pub food very good at a very reasonable price. We visited yesterday following it's revamp which looks great and as usual the staff were very pleasant and helpful. However I ordered a small plate Lasagne at £11ish pounds as I don't usually eat a lot in the afternoon. It was absolutely tiny in a metal ramakin the size of a beer mat. The ramakin was a quarter full of mince one sheet of Lasagne and cheese on the top a miniscule amount. The whole Lasagne was 6 forkfuls. It was so small it was funny. I checked out another table who had ordered a full size portion of Lasagne. Again it was barely visible at the bottom of the dish. This is not how things used to be in this establishment before the refurbishment. What has changed? I didn't complain to the team as it appeared they were having a good day and not sure it would have made any difference to the future portion control.

Yummy gorgeous food with super friendly staff nothing is ever a problem for them. Amy is a blessing to the pub, she made my wedding day special and really gave great service. Always love the holmbush, great local pub.

We chose this venue for our Team Building lunch and it did not disappoint. The food was very good, portions were ample and atmosphere very friendly. Staff and service excellent. Have decided to have our Christmas lunch here too as so impressed. Thoroughly recommend !

Already rated on trip advisor but .. to add to a previous response on here.. you could not have heard from your seat approx 15 feet away and with my back to you we were complaining, (your earlier body language, comments back to the bar staff and glance in our direction gave you away that you were aware given we were sat around 5 feet away) Unless you were already aware that we had raised concerns about the length of time we waited for food... If you aren't a manager of the pub specifically perhaps St Austell brewery need to be aware of your incompetence when dealing with a genuine complaint. Also it WAS NOT a full refund .. you can't even get that straight .. we were happy to and only asked for a refund of what hadn't been eaten. I wouldn't normally respond more than once but really .. you still come back with a mis representation of the events.

Arrived 10 minutes before our booked time. First course came promptly. Waited 1 hour for our main course before complaining to bar staff. Noted bar staff informed manager who was sitting in bar area on laptop. Bar staff apologised stating one of the big parties which had booked in had been late arriving. Waited another 35 minutes still no meal. Asked for a refund of money of the food we hadn't received. Bar staff VERY apologetic. At this time the manager approached us and claimed she knew nothing of the situation. We challenged the fact we were aware staff had pointed out our complaint 40 minutes earlier. May I suggest 1) please don't lie when staff had earlier lighted our issue and 2) as a manager surely good management has their finger on the pulse during busy times and finally 3) good communication and keeping your customers informed is good practice... Not sitting there on a laptop !!!

What promised to be a lovely evening ruined by terrible service. Table reserved for 7pm. Arrived 6.40, ordered food by 6.45 starter eaten by just after 7. Waited an hour and a half before asking for a refund on main course. Shockingly bad organisation, inadequate and disingenuous attempt to apologise from manager who showed no accountability for the disorganisation in her own establishment.
