Went for family birthday meal as we've been there lots before food was terrible the pub was cold the lager didn't taste right will never go back there again

Lovely staff, but I will need to take out a bank loan before going back. Prices have risen dramatically recently and a once thriving inn had less customers than I have ever seen. Our meals looked like they were pre-cooked and heated up when ordered. Sorry, but owners need to review what's going on!

Great little pub that serves food and drink. Great little £10 menu. They also have a children's menu.

Nice Roast. We turned up without a booking and were accommodated. However, desserts overpriced for the amount you get.

The listed price range is way off, it's not £5 to £16, it's a lot higher. Pub has gone over to tenancy, had Korev and three of the party are ill, please learn how to clean the pipes. But hey ho staff friendly and food good. Lockdown has really changed dining out for the worst, prices are up all of a sudden. Prefer eating at home, can cook better and cheaper, better taste.

First time I’ve came in, in a while! Great to see some familiar faces and staff were lovely. Looking forward to coming back again soo !

Bigger and better at the Holmbush Inn!

Have been going to the Holmbush pretty much my whole life, I am a local. It has had a few land Lords and ladies since. Never have I ever had a bad meal. Staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The only issue I have ever had, is that the toilet taps get really hot, this has been ongoing for years. Had Christmas Day lunch here 2023 and the staff were amazing, the other customers were lovely and there was such a welcoming Christmas atmosphere. Was even better when the new owners came in and reduced the price. Free fizz on arrival and the food and service was fantastic. I did feel sorry for the staff having to work on Christmas Day, but know what it's like as I work in the care sector. Our dog was welcome, as normal, staff and other dinners loved him and made a fuss of him. Everyone is always so friendly and it's so nice to have a local pub that you feel part of. The New Landlady also introduced herself and the changes she had all seemed positive. Keep doing what you do best Team Holmbush, you are always amazing.

Can't disagree more with the review of Christmas Dinner. My wife and I along with our beagle pup had a thoroughly lovely experience. The staff are lovely, attentive and very friendly. The meal was lovely and the atmosphere created by the staff made our day very special. We are locals. We eat here regularly. There is no pleasing some people especially those that think because there are lots of them and they are going to spend lots of money they are going to get special attention. Thank you to the staff who actually worked on Christmas day for making our day very special. We will see you all soon

Lovely quiet pub, excellent food, great service 😋

Worst Christmas dinner ever! When you go out somewhere for a Christmas dinner with 16 friends you’d expect the restaurant would lay it on knowing that they would be making a lot of money, well how disappointed were we!! The staff are miserable but the food was dreadful, worse than a school canteen meal. We will never go back again and I just hope that a local Cornish person takes the pub over and turns it back into something adequate and also bans dogs from going in there too, the place smells of dog.

Poor food. Would not recommend. Mostly microwaved/reheated. New owners so at best, benefit of the doubt until they get the hang of cooking and serving meals.

Really shocked when we visited our local for a spot of tea this week. After visiting the pub frequently through the summer we thought it had been a while and would treat ourselves …. Wish we hadn’t bothered. I suffer from food intolerances which have never been an issue before, previous visits the Holmbush had been very accommodating. I asked for a gluten avoiding menu and the server told me they don’t do that anymore and handed me an allergy folder. When I asked if it was actually useful and asking if the folder was going advise me what could be taken away to then make dishes something to eat, ie a cheese burger will say dairy but if you take the cheese off it would be fine …. I was told look at the folder, it tells you about what can be taken away or added. As expected I was not shocked to find that the folder was out of date, didn’t have all the menu items, had some old menu items and then funnily enough no indication on what could be adapted to make the meals gf/df. So yet again I had to ask and was met with hostility. I was asking a simple question what options are available to me. After the third attempt the server finally went to talk to the kitchen and after 10mins actually presented some options for me to eat. The food itself was okay, it’s just a shame I was met with someone who had no interest to advise me or be helpful.

Great Sunday lunch. The apricot and chestnut roast was delicious. Most veggie nut roasts are dry but this was lovely and moist. Always enjoy eating here. The staff are friendly and the service is great.

Excellent pub who is 100%dog friendly, even got a bone bar with rugs for my dog to sit on, free unlimited biscuits dog bowls and bottled water and when I rang up to check if they were dog friendly the answer was certainly and all areas, we'll be back plus the food was amazing 😁

Was with a party of 6. Place was clean and welcoming. Staff courteous and friendly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for food was because of the vegan lasagna I ordered wasn't in my opinion that special Andi couldn't finish it. However the salad, garlic bread (and my son's onion rings) were spot on. Everyone else in my party were 100% happy with their meals (all meat or fish dishes). Would definitely go back and try a different vegetarian meal.

Sadly very disappointed this evening. My friend and I booked a table for 2. We ordered at the bar, and were the only two ordering at the time. I ordered first and paid and my friend ordered immediately after me and paid. After I had ordered the lady explained there was a big party in and the food may take ten minutes longer than normal. We said, not to worry, that's fine. The wait for food was actually not very long. My meal was brought out first. Ham, egg and chips. My first impression was, oh I thought I ordered the adults meal not the kids meal. Pitiful portion of chips. But it tasted really nice. £12.95 for the meal in the picture. We waited a while and my friends meal didn't appear, so she told me to start eating. I did, very uncomfortably as it felt rude. I got almost half way through my meal and hers still wasn't there. She decided to go to the bar and ask. The response was "did you order separately?", she said yes. "was it two seperate transactions?" yes. To which the guy mumbled well it'll come out seperately then! No apology or, sorry for your wait. Very uninterested. Sorry, no I don't think it is normal. I go on lots of meals out with friends. We often order and pay for our own, yet our meals always come out together. It was ham, egg and chips. Not so hard to do. My friend then found her chicken was only just about cooked. She decided she couldn't eat it. I said she could complain but as the guy was so dismissive about our meals being brought out, she didn't see the point as would probably be dismissed again. We finished off and left as quickly as we could. Then just went back to her house for a dessert we picked up at the supermarket on the way home and a cup of tea. We did see a sign in the pub which said closed for a period of time next week due mew management. Well I hope this isn't it, and this is the old management who are just winding down and can't be bothered. Hope the new management are much better. Not been here for years because the parking is terrible. Sadly, it's likely to be years again!!

Went for the carvery, which has been good in the past, but this time the vegetables were very limited and unfortunately very cold. A disappointing visit especially since we took some visitors.

If you want a warm welcome and good customer service - suggest not going on a Friday night like we did. Also best to avoid the £15 curry which was supposedly a 'special' and best not address the duty manager to complain about it for...

Very quiet for this lunchtime we called. We found the table surface to be undulating and made our drinks spill as they wobbled. Will have to call in again to get a better feel for this Pub, but everything was as it should be.

Super friendly atmosphere, as soon as we walked in, happy accommodating staff. Couldn't do enough for us while we were there, even had the pleasure of listening to the quiz night. We will be returning very soon 😉

Came down for an afternoon drink, all of the staff were very accommodating but Bryony really stood out for us. Really friendly, was obviously busy but still had time to chat and make us feel welcome. Had a lovely afternoon.

Have eaten here many times over the years but a large group of us went for a birthday meal & we all found the mains very disappointing & quite expensive for what it was. Meals had been pre ordered & were mainly dry & over cooked. A child’s beans portion was about 15 beans for an extra £1! Desserts were very nice but felt like basic pub grub at restaurant prices. We won’t be rushing back!

Nice easy walk from our holiday let in Charlestown. Good pub grub with some great offers. Good for families and is dog friendly. On that note we had a yapping dog in the pub which spoilt things and nothing was said to the owners.

What a beautiful place to stop and eat, the staff were wonder tidy and polite. Service was fast, food was hot and very tasty, the price was very reasonable, plenty of parking with disabled parking and access along with disabled toilets, tables wide enough for wheelchair and with table service it's great. One point, all the tables were reserved due to quiz night, but they found a table for 5 of us.

Haven't been here for many years (we moved out of county) and a friend wanted to meet up for food, so I chose here for accessibility for a pram, and closeness to everyones accommodation. Booked in advance, and they took in my comment of needing space for the pram. Food was delicious (and my plate was huge!) and the dessert was thoroughly enjoyed by all, especially the baby. Will definitely return in the future. Friendly staff who are attentive and helpful.

Nearly 70 quid for 3 meals ,1 being a kids meal, all came out cold,garlic bread soggy and nothing came out at the same time, the kids beans are one mouthful for the child and then we found a hair in the little beans pot,gross. Cancelled deserts and left ,used to be able to get lovely food in there now it's really rundown and not worth the money, you can spend that much in a real restaurant and get decent food 😀

I have just had what was possibly the worst rump steak I have ever encountered, it was so full of fat and gristle, that my dogs ended up eating the lions share. On a more promising subject, the staff were all very cheerful.....

Decent pub, dog and child friendly inside and out. The service was fantastic, did not have to wait long. Good portion size for meals under £20. We visited around 6/7pm, not too busy round that time of day. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a table full of water, bowl and dog biscuits. Good parking spaces at the back, step free into the main room from there.

We received a warm welcome, it was a busy Sunday lunch, staff were friendly. We had a carvery plus ordered from the menu. The roast dinner I had was lovely, very generous portions, and all the food was hot. Particularly good roast turkey and pork and the roast potatoes were perfect. Couldn't fault anything .
