Holiday Inn Express South Hampton West Restaurant in Test Valley

The hotel has no AC in the rooms, and actually they have no running ventilation in the sleeping area, just the bathroom. Speaking of area, the area around the hotel is tragic. On the plus side the pizza is delicious and the drafted beer is cold and cheap. Parking is free. The mood and the competence of the crew varies a lot.

Hotel was great,clean and warm with easy access to Southampton Staff were so friendly and always available and willing to help. Gluten free toast was available on request for breakfast and there was one vegan gluten free evening meal available. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel

If u r expecting good portions or very quality meal then stay away. Basically packed pub food with double prices. Breakfast has only afew options now. They could at least put afew vegetarian options . Basically just bacon and sausage bun and couple more options.

Given that the breakfast is included in the hotel room price, the breakfast served at the restaurant is much better than expected. It is a self service buffet style. There is a juice dispenser but frankly I thought it was awful. Much better is the coffee machine. If you like tea they have various flavours including Earl Grey. They have a small range of cereals, scrambled eggs and decent croissants. It was a good breakfast, friendly staff who constantly cleared up.

Find the holiday inn express a good value stay before a cruise including breakfast , which is a mix of continental and cooked for most tastes . Very welcoming and efficient staff , the room was very clean with all we need our only grumble is the water pressure in the lovely shower wasn’t great .

It was quite a good breakfast, cereals, fruit and hot food available. The woman clearing up at the end was very grumpy, but apart from that, it was fine. Good that the water machine is always on, as we filled up our water bottles in the evening and before we left.

We stayed here for a week and breakfasted every morning. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights and found it very comfortable. The receptionist when we checked in was very sour faced and not very helpful. We got to our room and found it noisy, knowing we were here for 4 nights we mentioned it to reception. A different person, a man who was so helpful. He told us we should not have been given that room as others were available so we were moved and upgraded at the same time. Thank you. All our dealings with this member of staff from then on were excellent, he was so helpful. The hotel was extremely busy as it was the en£ of half term week but it was kept clean. Close to the motorway so easy for travel, good location.

We have used this hotel several times now as we cruise extensively from Southampton , nice place to stay , staff great , food very good

Most of the hotels in Southampton had raised their prices as it was boat show week, so £96 inc breakfast seemed pretty good value. The reception staff were very nice.The room was big and clean. The only problem was that I have a disability so had a room with a wet room but the tiles in the bathroom which went right into the shower area were very slippery when wet, which was a bit dangerous. Breakfast was self service, with plenty of choice. However although there were glasses, there wasn't any fruit juice. Several people did the same as we did, which was press the buttons on a machine that was on the counter only to get water not juice. The staff were busy so it wasn't easy to catch one to ask. Other than that it was okay and as I said not bad value for boat show week. On site parking too was an advantage at some of the hotels in the area you gave to park in the near by multi storey car park and pay.

We have used The Holiday Inn several times and we are never disappointed with the hotel. Rooms are clean and extremely comfortable. Staff are helpful, cheerful and competent. Breakfast this time was very disappointing, but we will continue to use the hotel.

Hotel confortable propio de la cadena Hollyday Inn: fácil acceso en carretera, personal amable y eficaz, limpio, desayuno incluido muy con frios y calientes. Estrategicamente colocado para visitar: el parque de Pepa pig, southamptom, Stonhenge,... para cenar tambien. Opcion de un restaurante pub cercano a 5 minitos a pie.

Always good value when stay at Peppa pig world, very friendly staff and there was a trainee on reception who was very friendly. Food offer not great and could do with air-con in the room but I’m just being picky. Rooms usual good standard nothin exceptional. Ps MUST go to Walnut Tree farm for dinner ( a 5 minute walk from the hotel)

Stopped here over night pre Christmas cruise. Payed a very reasonable price for double room with breakfast. Room was clean and tidy excellent shower,Nice breakfast and the staff really helpful and polite. I would highly recommend the express hotel and will book again on my next visit to Southampton. Me alojé aquí mientras visitábamos a la familia, solo por 2 noches. El proceso de registro fue lento, pero creo que el personal era nuevo y realmente no sabía qué hacer. La habitación cuando llegamos fue limpia y cómoda, pero la zona del bar y el restaurante era espartano, no acogedor y no había ambiente. El desayuno estaba incluido en el precio de la habitación, que era una ventaja. Era un menú simple (comida fría y caliente) pero sabroso y la ventaja era que estaba incluido en el precio. El aparcamiento era gratis, que una vez más fue una ventaja.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Beds were very cozy, rooms were a sufficient size. Continental breakfast available. Hotel was spacious and staff was cordial. This hotel would be suitable for families or work functions. Food was decent quality and prices are reasonable.

Elegimos este hotel porque estaba entre una lista de varios cuando reserva 2 4 1 días en el parque paulton Teniendo en cuenta que era. a sólo 5 km del mundo y yo cerdo peppa mi hija y dos nietos había viajado dos horas en coche para llegar hasta el parque, el hotel resultó ser perfecto. Tan impresionados con fácil Rápido registro. . La habitación era perfecta. Limpio y moderno, ventilador estaba en lista para nosotros. Cortinas de 1,52 m en realidad es perfecto para niños y adultos. Perfecto para instalaciones de té y café, tv en la habitación ducha moderna y encantadora. excepcionalmente limpio. El desayuno era increíble, con una gran variedad de cereales y cruasanes, etc., comida y bebidas calientes y frías. Sin duda me alojaría aquí de nuevo.

Camas individuales en las habitaciones. Si no tienes coche es un largo paseo a la tienda más cercana a lo largo de una concurrida autovía. Una mínima selección de comidas con comida se envió en ocasiones como estaba cruda, durante el fin de semana sólo hay pizza en el menú, lo que es estupendo si estás 12, pero yo no diría que es una comida. El personal es agradable y las habitaciones son limpias y eso es lo mejor que puedo decir

Very nice food at this restaurant. Lots of options and very tasty food. Lots of hot drink options too for breakfast and even throughout the day. Overall a great option.

We usually stay here when visiting family in the area and once again we are not disappointed. The staff here are a credit to the hotel as they are always so polite, friendly and helpful. A bonus this time was to see that there is now an iron and ironing board in all rooms, some full service holiday inns don't have this so well done to the management.The only downside here is that due to its proximity to Peppa Pig World breakfast time can be pandemonium with little children running around and nearly tripping you up, also because it is busy they keep running out of things like knives, forks, milk , eggs, sausages and beans and you have to wait while they fetch it from the kitchen. Also it can be difficult to find a table. Overall I still enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back again

After a busy tiring day , food in the hotel was just what we needed! Quick service and food was of great standard. I would have liked there to have been more choice of children's meal .Breakfast was Great and lots of variety ,only thing missing from the buffet was Bacon!

Stopped here to visit family and friends, great hotel, very convenient for our needs. Very clean rooms and a great breakfast included in the price, fantastic value for money.

I was doing online exams in the hotel so had no chance to go out. I grabbed a pizza in the hotel restaurant and was surprised it was hot and of an ok standard.

A lovely Welcome from Adrian, who was very attentive and ensured our stay was stress free and relaxing.

We booked the family room and stayed for one night on Saturday 12 December. Hotel management and staff very helpful. Rooms having recently received makeovers are lovely, clean, tidy, and larger than expected. On a scale of 1-10 for room quality - 10! The breakfast buffet area and food was excellent and a wide sleection of foods were available, which took me by surprise given the cost of the room inclusive of breakfast! I will definitely stay here again, no hesitation. The hotel is only minutes away from Paulton's Park, about 5 minutes drive, so perfect in all respects.

Nice hotel, kind and helpful staff and reasonably priced.A good hot breakfast to start the day was a real bonus! The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so the food on offer is extremely limited (just pizza). However, as a non car driver I found this hotel impossible. Nothing seems to be within walking distance. There is a bus to the town centre from somewhere near the hotel.

Stayed over the weekend for the Christmas markets just a short drive for town centre ideal location very clean and reasonably priced

Greeted by pleasant staff, entrance very welcoming, rooms very clean and tidy and well equipped. Bed very comfortable. Although very near motorway, with window closed this could not be heard and there was a fan supplied as it was a hot night. Breakfast was very easy and plenty of it, help yourself to anything, and they even found soya milk for me but I could have requested this before I arrived but did not realise, so worth checking if any food intolerances. Staff, very helpful and obliging.

Returned to the hotel after a hectic and hot day. Decided to eat here because we were too tired and hot to go out and our four year old granddaughter was tired. Drawback, no children's menu and adult menu somewhat limited. We asked for a spare plate and shared our adult's food with our granddaughter and the staff were fine with this. The portions are plentiful, the food is tasty, hot and freshly cooked. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The bar ran out of cider - none whatsoever, but plenty of other choices. Very enjoyable and tasty meal.

Hotel was clean and comfortable.The meals were simple but good.Perfect for an overnight stop before cruising.Thank goodness we did this because we got held up for 2 1/2 hours on M1.

We both ordered a large Caesar salad. It ended up being very small, lettuce shaved Parmesan and croutons. I had asked for no croutons, gluten free, but they served with the croutons on. My husband ordered salmon on his. The salmon was nicely prepared. We actually thought there was more salmon than lettuce.

The hotel was clean and tidy perfect for business, the restaurant was well fitted out.The lifts are tiny and slow and need to updating.Overall a good trip with 4 stars

We stayed as a family of 5 (myself, 4 year old, 9 year old and two 12 year olds) as part as our Paultons park and Peppa Pig park visit. The hotel was straight forward to find. On arrival the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The rooms were clean and well equipped for an overnight stop. Tv with full range of channels, fan, towels, shower with shower gel, hair dryer, coat hangers, tea making facilities and free wi fi (a must with children). The hotel offers bar meals but a little pricey. Nothing in walking distance, but close to tesco, beefeater and traditional pub. The hotel was quiet and breakfast was serve from 6:30 until 9:30. Would definitely recommend after a place to rest your head after a busy day with the children at the local theme park. :)

Value for money, staff fantastic, breakfast was self service quality and service cannot fault it. We did not eat in the hotel as limited menu, would recommend this hotel very clean and comfortable.

We were staying overnight prior to joining a cruise, our two friends joined us. We ordered from a very basic menu with very little choice, I did not have a starter but the other three did. Two of the mains were brought up when the starters were still being eaten so we sent them back. Two of us had the haddock fish cakes which were quite nice with salad but no dressing available. One person had the beef pie with a very hard pastry top which was in edible, our friend ordered the lasagne and garlic bread, when it arrived it was very flat and runny and resembled a cheap ready meal, it looked unappetising and she said it was very unpleasant. We called the manager over who dealt with it by offering us a refund on the two meals and a bottle of wine, it was a nice gesture.We all felt that there should be more variety on the menu and the prices should be dropped, on looking round the restaurant there appeared to be a lot of waste on plates with unbeaten food. There was also only one waiter who was rushed off his feet, more staff is needed.On the plus side the rooms were comfortable, we had the breakfast but just cereal and toast.

WE were on our way to the Isle of Wight ferry early the next morning and our package organiser had booked us in B & B at this large hotel.Our room, car parking and locality were excellent. Breakfast was self service with quality and service of the highest order.The staff were extremely helpful and advised us of route and timing to the ferry port the following day.I could not fault this hotel in any way and would recommend it to anyone.

It is a fiver and help yourself . However, no sausages! This is convenient though and you can just walk in for a quick breakfast.

Fine for a base to say catch one of the cruise ships but be aware of hot weather. There is only air con downstairs and we stayed on one of the hottest days of the year. Very little sleep although there was a fan in the room. However the staff were very good helpful and polite.

After prepaying for our room as the deal was a theme park package. We arrived to book in only to find we had to pay a £50 deposit and this was the groups policy. There was no mention of this in any of the paperwork we received. I believe that this is a money making scam as they hold every deposit from all the hotels in their account gaining interest. To top it of the staff were quite rude over the incident.

This is a budget range hotel. Nice, clean rooms. However few things to note1. There is no bath tub in bathroom only a shower. So if you have little . babies this could be a problem. 2. For the breakfast there was no bacon or fried egg for the breakfast. Only plenty of sausages, scramble eggs, toast, drinks ect.3. No airlcon in rooms only a little fan.But I have no problem with any of those. Just mentioned if you are fussy with your bidget stay.

We stayed here as part of a deal with peppa pig world and were very impressed. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The lady who checked us in Ana, was lovely. Helpful, have us a room next to our friends and a toothbrush and toothpaste when we realised we had forgotten to pack ours! Breakfast was basic but free! It set us up nicely for the day and you had everything you needed (could have done with bacon though, maybe they didn't want to upset the peppa pig fans!) Room was clean and had everything we needed, we would book here again and after having lots of problems with the Travelodge would now pick this chain quite happily.

Abbiamo prenotato tramite il portale del parco PEPPA PIG WORLD pagando una cifra ragionevole per due notti e due giorni con ingresso incluso al parco. Le camere sono minuscole una quadrupla consiste in una stanza con letto alla francese (matrimoniale piccolo) e un divano letto matrimoniale per i bambini. il bagno con doccia cieco (senza finestra). La nostra camera al piano terreno dava sul parcheggio. Insomma sembrava di essere in un motel. La colazione compresa nel prezzo consiste in bevande calde e fredde erogate dalle macchinette. Pane in cassetta da tostare e selezione di marmellate e burro. Due tipi di brioches appena decenti, yogurt e cereali. Tutto self service. Il personale alla reception è cordiale. Le camere sono pulite e ben attrezzate. Non dimenticate l'adattatore di corrente in reception nn ne hanno!!! E se prendete un taxi per spostarvi ricordatevi che il vostro è L'HOLITDAY INN EXPRESS WEST...in città ce n'è più di uno e i tassisti si confondono. CONSIGLIATO SOLO PER LA VICINANZA AL PARCO SE NO MEGLIO L'HOLIDAY INN SOUTHHAMPTON IN CITTA' (più bello e con piscina coperta).

What can i say about this hotel from the night i checked in i was made welcome from the front deck to the bar.Great team super staff i will miss each and everyone of them iv'e stayed in many hotels around the world but this was the best hotel the way they treat people very good not a bad word for this hotel nor staff.Great people to be around pleasure was all mine.

We had booked a family room for peppa world, friends with us had a double. After a long soggy day we found the sofa bed had not been made up and we were asked to swap rooms with our friends who had the sofa bed ready.No children's menu in the restaurant, the food was basically reasonable quality microwave meals, pizza was fine. Cost £75 for a once course meal for 3 adults and 2 children inc wine. Breakfast again was ok, continental selection was fine, cooked breakfast was sausage, beans and scrambled egg.The room was clean, with ensure shower. Hair dryer and tea and coffee available. The beds were not comfortable (a bit hard and lumpy) and the pillows were thin (we recently stayed at a premier inn and the sleep was far better)All in all the location was good for pp world, but don't expect any frills with this hotel

Stayed here for the weekend for a friends birthday, staff very helpful and friendly. Room was nice. They allowed for us to have our friends over.Wasn't warned prior to the visit that they would be a deposit needed of £50. Overall very happy and had a lovely weekend.

Service was average with no real attentiveness or interest. Selection of food wasn't great and expensive. At a guess food is preprepared and reheated on ordering.

I Stayed at this hotel in October 2013. Its not very far from the Southampton airport. The hotel was very crowded. I went for breakfast at 0800 Hrs and there was not even a single empty table in the hotel so eventually left for the meeting without the breakfast. However, staff was very nice and helping, Rooms are clean and quieter. If you need a taxi you have to call the taxi service and it usually takes at least 10-15 minutes to come.

Greeted by a friendly receptionist, as I booked/paid for the room in advance my husband was unable to use his IHG card which is a bit silly. We had a non smoking double for £62 inc breakfast. The hotel was a little noisy which is obvious for a Saturday night stay however people running around corridors between 12 and 2 am was not ideal. The breakfast buffet all looked ok however the sausages we picked were both a bit pink so we left those.

We just had our holiday to southampton and our stay was lovely staff were really helpful and approachable. Friendly and warm place food was delicious very suprise at the standard of the food no fried freezer rubbish! The only thing we would have liked is more wardrobe space for our family of four in family rooms so we didnt need to live out our suitcases as much. Otherwise really nice place and nice and close to lots of different attractions and city centre :D

I stay at Holiday Inn's all over the country and this is the worst one, due to its evening meals and although it is closest to our Head Office every time I stay here, as my preferred option is fully booked, I swear I will never stay here again and would rather travel another 15 miles, after a 14 hour day than stay here.A couple of years ago, they had ran out of chips on what is a very limited menu and offered me fish and...rice!Every time I complain they say 'we are a hotel not a restaurant and there are take away menus in reception if you wish'.This time, after a 2 year+ absence, I arrived and was asked if I wanted to book a table, in the screaming child, non-restaurant, so waiting for a colleague to join me I said 19.30, 14 hours since I last ate. At 19.30 my colleague had not arrived so, stood at the bar I heard a fellow businessman be told it would be 20.15 before he could eat so I offered to swap. Thanked by all I waited whilst the bloke in front of me decided he could not drink Stella out of a normal pint glass so after 5 minutes I eventually ordered another Strongbow and the table for 20.15 - sorry, the lady replied, the chef has just been out (I didn't recall seeing him) and said 20.45 is now the next time. At this point I sighed and reminded myself never to stop at the food-free zone ever again. What food they do have left is basic anyway, so next time, if regular 'Rose Bowl' Holiday Inn not available, Little Chef & Travel Lodge for me..!
