Collection order. Something is not right. Have you changed the chefs? Meals used to be very, very nice, now it’s hit and miss. No consistency anymore. The Holdi takeaway used to be the best in Ellesmere Port, its ratings suggest it’s now one of the worst, and I can see why? Prawn meal was tasteless & CTM was far to runny. It’s time to move on, and try somewhere new.

Disgusting takeaway , burnt poppadoms, burnt chicken tandoori even the bones were black. Naan bread burnt, everything else tasted like it was a warm up, never again,have had meals in the past that were good but recently disappointment after disappointment.Had to throw it all away.

Have ordered from here many times previously and never had a problem, however the last two times the food hasn’t been amazing. Stupidly decided to give it another chance last week and ordered a take away, only to end up with terrible food poisoning. After trying to reach out to the restaurant and having no reply, it has lead me to write this review. It’s a shame that they don’t care if the food has made a customer so unwell. Looking back I can only imagine that it was from poorly reheated food, as it had arrived lukewarm at best, and the rice was mainly stuck together. Would hate for anyone to be as unwell as I was.

When ordering a takeaway make sure you have written down what you want to read to the very very rude man who answers the phone HE will not listen to what you want he just keeps on jumping in and interrupting you….i asked him to be quiet and listen…wrong on my part 3 meals went in the bin as full of chillis so so hot could not eat….i should of know as when i went to collect all the staff where laughing…..will never ever go again…..

After hearing such good things about Holdi express we ordered 3 weeks ago and the food was amazing it arrived on time. So last night we ordered again ok it was a Saturday night but it was 3 weeks ago well it arrived 5 mins late but that would be ok if the food was hot. Yes you have guessed it the food was cold not enjoyable at all. So much so I will not recommend or order from here again. So I looked on the reviews and the speak for themselves so unfortunately we may of spent £41.00 but there won’t be another order from us bye bye Holdi

This is the second time we have ordered a meal for delivery the first time it was hot and very good unfortunately last night it was cold and not just one element of the meal was cold it was all cold so microwave to the rescue.It spoilt the evening to be honest.I just don't understand why the whole meal was cold and it cost us over £40.I don't think we will be ordering from there again such a shame.

Ordered food and it came but I don’t know if there is a new chef or different chef on a Tuesday to other days but the food isn’t upto standard. Chicken in chicken chat is dry and blander than usual. Lamb korma - lamb is dry and over cooked, korma sauce isn’t as nice as usual, normally my favourite takeaway and we order all the time! Really disappointed tonight!! Never had a bad experience until tonight cannot eat the food!

Unreal curry. I get soft lamb nepal varma with chilli rice. Amazing 😋

Place has gone downhill since all the regular staff and chefs have been moved around this place has gone to the dogs. Nothing like it used to be we got two curry the other day nothing like years past when it was the best. That was my last visit here unless Rukon the boss gets back here and shakes the place up but he’s to busy making millions opening everywhere and diluting the quality of ingredients and chefs.

bought a lamb dish from this place and it was like eating leather. Someone told me to order from the restaurant might try that next time

Food was 45 minutes late despite being ordered two hours in advance. Tikka chicken was dry and hard like it had been standing. Driver and restaurant blamed each other. Terrible food.

Been visiting here for ~ 5 years and always been impressed…tonight , less so.. Firstly the 15% NHS/Blue Card reduction was not applied despite 2 confirmatory telephone calls and an online note as requested. Most dishes were different from usual Lamb chaat - the bread was a larger, yellow bread as if made from a corn based flour. The lamb portion was nice but no more than 50% of the portion size. My chicken naga was less hot, had no fresh chillis running through it and very little mince (if still tasty and enjoyable) My brothers Chicken jalfrezi rogan josh Balti also had a paucity of chillis as compared to the norm. Tarka Dall had a thick layer of oil on top unlike normally. Cauliflower bhaji was slightly over salted but also tasted a little ‘off’ as if some of the veg was past its prime. Onion bhajis considerably more oily than usual. Despite two starter portions of onion bhajis ordered, only 1 small pot of yoghurt and 1 small bag of salad provided to accompany. Side portion tin trays appear smaller too. I am hoping this is an abberation (maybe the main chef is on holiday??) and not the new norm as I tend to apply a 2 strikes and you’re out policy to takeaways.

Gotta say! This takeaway was absolutely disgusting! Wasn’t even a busy night Chicken looked and tasted like it had been dug up Rice was hard and uncooked Curry Sauce was not at all nice I guess Holdi express is somehow linked to Hold spice lounge opposite in where every meal I have eaten has been stunning ! And if so they need to relinquish their ties I won’t ever be ordering food from Holdi express ever again !!!

Ordered 2 meals with rice onion bargi and nan bread don't get me wrong food was tasty but only living a 5 minute walk away I would not expect my food to be cold as it was wife's rice was also wrong both meals had to be microwaved as the the nan bread & onion bargi I could understand if I lived a 10 minute car journal but it's a 5 min walk which is less than 2 mins in a car is just wrong if they can't cope with the orders or don't have the driver's then they need to slow down the ordering not just take as many as they can poor poor service back to my old Indian takeaway

The worst service I’ve ever had in a takeaway holdi express that is I appreciate your busy but Jesus treat people like human beings not a paycheck little guy on the till take note change your ways as I’m not coming back

as a long timer user of holdi was absolutely gutted that wasted a lot of money on a family takeaway for new year’s eve, it was really busy and i guess they where just chucking the food out wether it was ready or not! lamb stuffed was horrendous chunks of massive fatty lamb pieces and the pepper was hard and barely baked. the curries we had the chicken was really weird texture either undercooked or re cooked again something wasn’t right, when all of us bit into our meal we all said the same thing about the chicken, some ate more than others but you where eating for the sake of it and 80% went in the bin a totally crap meal and waste of good money and to top it all most of the evening was spent in the toilet. NOT IMPRESSED

Ordered a delivery. Driver couldn’t follow simple instructions but was nice about it and took the advice. Ordered bhajis and had what looked like slops arrived. When phoned had the rudest conversation and they wouldn’t even let us get a word in, Very disappointed and hate how rude this place is all the time when trying to ask questions.

I've ordered most things off the menu from Holdi and I have never had any issues until now. Recently, they’ve gone downhill and FAST!! Late orders, unfriendly staff, cold food that’s been squashed into a bag… and to top it all off a big bone in my latest meal! I was once a loyal customer but won’t be back again!!

Bit gutted really. Been going to this place since it first opened and the food used to be amazing. There was always a delay on deliveries but I accepted that because it was worth it. However, the last meal I ordered was below par and will probably be my last. The Tandoori Chicken came with a centimeter of water in the tray and thinly sliced onions/peppers that clearly hadn't been near a tandoor, looked microwaved tbh. The Madras had a background taste of coconut which shouldn't have been there. The Keema Rice was salty and bland, no lamb flavour at all. Its a shame to see a place like this go backwards, I really don't understand how this can happen, you'd think with experience comes improvement. Unless there has been a change of staff or the original business got taken over, maybe complacency set in. Either way they've lost a loyal customer. Sorry Holdi, I'm gutted too.

Been ordering from Holdi regularly over the past couple of years never been disappointed me and my Missus love the food will be ordering again very soon.

Third time in a row we have chose Holdi. Can see us sticking here now. Entire family loves it. I've only faulted the chicken Chaat. Everything else is great. I love the special Dopiza My fussy 8yr old loves the chips. Give em a blast. I would love em to accept card though!

Happy Mothers Day. I've refrained from complaining in the past but I've had my fill now. The food is always nice and tasty but the service terrible. It opens at 5 so we ordered online at 5. Delivery in 45 mins. 6.35 the food came, cold and with a fundamental meal missing- the starter. The only one. It was a Prawn Chat and they sent the pancake, no king prawn. . We called and told them the King prawn chat is missing and said if its going to be a while we just want a refund for it, no no the driver is right here. 30 mins later and it arrives. Should have got the refund. The driver was was right there clearly took a massive detour. It arrived Cold and no pancake. So they either knew their mistake in not sending the prawn element of the starter in the first place and just left it out to go cold or they didn't realise and potentially left us with no pancake! Luckily my husband hadn't binned the now soggy Cold original. All in all a massive disappointment . The whole experience was disjointed, disrupted and dissatisfactory. For years and years the food has been tasty and warm ish but the delays,now cold food, the missing food is a constant recurring aspect. You let it go and brush it off because it taste nice but the meals are always tainted by being both cold and late. They must be making fortune, with takeaway only food, they must have the fund to correct this issue. More drivers, more chefs, bigger premises, better food warmers or insulated bags. I'm done my patience is done , I hope you have many customers still patient and forgiving. It took me since you first opened to decide this now. I want warm food and I want it in a reasonable time and they literally cannot deliver.

We had a zoom call with friends to celebrate a 60th birthday and we all ordered from here. My wife and I went for a set meal for £22.95 and it was excellent value. Poppadoms and dips, any 2 starters, and 2 mains, rice, naan and saag aloo. We both had a chaat to start (vegetable and prawn) with a veggie bhuna and a veggie pathia for mains. There was plenty of food, it looked good and the taste was excellent - as good as any Indian restaurant we’ve been in! We’ll definitely be ordering from here again!

Just had a great experience from holdi express and had to write my second review for them as a result. They delivered our normal order (set meal for 2) which is a bargain and enough for 3 people. It was missing a naan bread and the starter was incorrect (bear with me)... Before I could get their number to ring them they'd rung me and sent said items. We had everything before we'd finished our starters. Brilliant service. Aside from this their garlic chilli chicken is the best around. Delish!

I really love the food from this place. I’ve bought food from here regularly since it opened years ago-BUT no more!! On my last 5 visits I’ve had an average of over an hour wait beyond the quoted pick up time and most times the order has been wrong. It was never like this in the beginning. Last night I gave up waiting after a 2 hours delay standing outside in the freezing fog. . The kitchen is chaotic it’s a shame that they ruin their 5 star food with 1 star service. For goodness sake guys get a grip and get organised! Stop making promises that you can’t keep.

Eat in the restaurant early this year it was good take away tonight was disgusting cold and not at a standard were used to from other local takeaways ..... Actually it was crap what a waste of £25 and could only pay cash not by card so ducked! trying to get our money back .... I am beyond angry, please read this and do yourself a favour just order elsewhere

After re pop rating late and poor service, though delivery driver was very good and amendable, though the food was tepid Still not happy about having to ring to change order that was 40 mins late and really miffed with person answering phone saying they are really busy considering I had ordered 2-2.5 hours earlier

Do not opt for delivery. Quicker to cook it yourself. Booked online at 7.20 and had the choice of collection- 30 minutes, or delivery - 60 minutes. My first takeaway this year so thought I’d pour a glass and get it delivered. Won’t bore you with the details, but a little customer service wouldn’t go amiss. I called to see when I could expect the delivery - “You’re not the only one waiting for a delivery “ “it’s on its way” (clearly it wasn’t). Other takeaways are available so I’ll head there next time . Cooked pasta instead and should’ve done that an hour and a half ago. Don’t waste your time. Now I understand why you can’t pay by card online.

Absolute belter of a curry house, every curry I've had from here has been banging, some unique dishes going on I've nearly tried them all, wow what an experience, African sabba sabba blow ya skids off, the rest are just as good, seen all the reviews moaning about the time scale!! That should be a good sign because it just shows how hectic it can be with so many people ordering because its second to none!, and still manage to make amazing food under the pressure, well done

Ordered a takeaway for delivery. When it hadn't arrived and hour and fifteen minutes later I called to be told it was 2/3 mins away. 20 mins later I called again, this time it was just waiting to be packed up and was being sent with a driver immediately, 20 mins later I called again and it had just left. Lie after Lie after Lie. These people do not deserve your hard earned money. If on phone call number 1 they had told me they were busy and it would be another 30mins I would've accepted but why is it so acceptable to the staff here to treat their customer so badly and just lie to them? I will never return.

Always late. Call up to chase and they say should be with you any minute. 20 mins later call again. Yes will be with you now. 30 mins later not arrived. Why lie to your customers? Out of principle I will never order from here again.

First and last order from here. An hour's wait turned in to an hour and forty minutes, the curry and rice was barely luke warm, half of the bread was rock hard and the relish was questionable. The only thing edible was the popadums. I shan't be wasting my time and money here again

Food has been previously good but always late. Tonight we are pretty much up to ordering it two hours ago, nearly half an hour after the requested delivery time and still no sign so I'm having to cancel and order from somewhere else.

ordered 3 mains 3 rices 2 naan and a selection of veggie sides and starters online. came half an hour before we expected and was piping hot, every dish was absolutely beautiful 10 out of 10 for this lovely local takeaway. thanks guys.

One of the better Indian takeaways on Ellesmere Port, but food can be a bit oily, and when ordering online it's rarely ready on time.

Had curries from most of the Indian restaurants around and for take-aways this one is the one we always come back to. Reasonably priced and delicious. The curry with lemongrass and fresh green chillies is one of our favourites, but we try something new each time we order and have yet to be disappointed. Each curry had a distinct texture and flavour which is the way we like it. Will be returning again and again.The delivery service is a little bit and miss have the 4 stars out of 5. We collect all he time now and it's great.

Been a regular customer since it open in 2000 but can honestly say the service over the last two years has become a joke. Last two food orders took over two hours to be delivered, and when finally came the food was freezing cold. Tonight was my final time giving this place a chance!! After 2 and half hours wait!!! my food order was delivered I sent it back. If you can’t handle the volume of food orders don’t take the orders simple. Shocking service:(

Even though i regret not paying the full amount due to the 10% discount not being added as was explained in the comment box upon ordering ( please ring customers to clarify this or change your information on the website) , the takeaway was probably the best indian takeout I've ever had very impressed!

As a family we use this takeaway at least once a month for a very tasty and well cooked meal. Never had a bad meal even on busy nights like new year's eve the food is always of a high standard and plenty of it. Would have no hesitation in recommending anything of the menu.

Best Indian takeaway for miles. Friendly staff, meal ordered by phone usually ready on collection. Excellent quality, best curry for miles ! King Prawn Ceylon my favourite, prawns are enormous. Can't praise highly enough.

I felt it was about time to write a review of my local Indian. I have visited Holdi about 30 times now and have had a delicious and faultless curry every time. Excellent quality food & service,friendly staff and great delivery service if required. Highly recommended.

Paid over the phone for my takeaway, no other bank activity and that night a fraudulent transaction where the staff all travel from, followed by another few over the next couple of days, coincidence? Ironically I was trying again for the first time after they were shut down for terrible food hygiene. DONT EAT HERE!

Regularly visit the restaurant sit in very nice - used to use the takeaway but stopped because of bad service decided to try again - ordered food before they opened presuming it would be fresh, chicken tikka very dry, lamb chops bought in bulk frozen then defrosted no meat all bone and no flavour ordered onion fried rice not delivered will not be using again will order from other local Indians in future

Always get my Take away from these guys, but no more, delivery was 50 minutes late, food was cold and the curry was full of congealed ghee

The food is always prepared to a very high standard. It tastes as good as the eat in Holding restaurant up the road.

Always a good takeaway - quick service and delicious food but check your order as we did not and they had got an item incorrect when we arrived home we could not be bothered driving back to get it changed but it was not something we usually have and did not want the dish but we should have checked the order in the shop before we left. Food we did eat was very good.

This has been our favourite delivery for years however they have stopped delivering to my area but according to the website they still do. This means I placed an order online, waited for over an hour and when I called them they told me they wouldn’t deliver. Very disappointing that they didn’t alert us to this prior to waiting so long. Went in to collect, food was perfect as always but let down by the service, won’t be returning obviously as they won’t deliver it!

Never been disappointed with this place, always fresh and high quality taste. Also, you can request to alter their menu choices, eg a really spicy tikka with extra garlic! Which is always great for fussy eaters.

My partner loves the Holdi and only ever gets takeaways from there. He says they are really good and full of flavour. Personally I've found all the food I've had from there to be very tasty, but also very, very greasy; so much so that I've had to try mopping some off my meal before serving it from the container. This means therefore, that I no longer eat takeaways from the Holdi. Sorry guys.

Ordered a takeaway and they said it would take 40 minutes. It took 35 and they delivered it. Just as tasty as the restaurant. Chicken biryani without sultanas, chicken dansak and a plain naan. Chicken chunks are massive and near cutting up before you can eat. Excellent.

Ordered number 41 Lamb Shashlik, I found the lamb quite tough and loads of red/green peppers, onions and tomatoes. There was a side dish with potatoes and what looked like mange tout and broad beans, not impressed - but my husband did enjoy his lamb curry. I won't be going back - my son and friends love it

Have been regular users of the takeaway and the restaurant - ordered a takeaway to be delivered waited fifteen minutes after there estimated time of just over an hour - to be told they had no order, provided reference number etc then it arrived ten minutes later, cold and inedible all the meat was tough - if I had a dog I wouldn't have given it to him the lot went in the bin - the takeaway gives the restaurant a bad name - not bad for over £25.00

Food cold and not mutch flavour will not be getting anything from them again

I ordered a take away yesterday, I honestly can say that it was the best indian meal that I have ever had! The curry was absolutely amazing!.. my only criticism is that they don't have that amazing red chilli dip served in their resturant.

Been using Holdi as our Indian takeaway of choice since we moved from Heswall. Always used Cafe Madras in Heswall which is amazing so we were worried we wouldn’t find anywhere as good. This place is amazing, just as good, if not better! Have had a variety of dishes over the last 18months, always been so tasty, so filling, not? greasy and just perfect. Thank you holdi!! The jalfrezi tonight was perfect

We don't get takeaway every week. Indian takeaway is once in a while, but we've never had a problem with Holdi takeaway. Food always cooked fresh, hot and good value. Staff always freindly and polite. Only ever used collection, as we live down road

Bought a takeaway, although the meal was good, they forgot to include the rice. Very disappointing. Spoilt the meal. I emailed them twice, but no reply. Lesson learnt 'check everything is included before you leave'.

One of if not the best Indian takeaway in Ellesmere Port. Situated in Little Sutton it has an open kitchen were if you wish you can watch your food being prepared. We've never had a bad meal from here each one has been delicious and looks tasty. We tend to go for the meal option which is good value.

My Husband , myself and my daughter, went to Holdi restaurant, least week . We just decided to go that afternoon, so didn't book. No bother because it was midweek so I thought we would be able to get a table, and true to form for Holdi we did. This was about 6 30 , but not long after this every other table in the restaurant was full ! Just proves how popular this place is ! The food is lovely, I especially love the buttered chicken, my husband loves the lamb sagwalla , and the Nann bread is gorgeous ! Everything about this restaurant is lovely, staff , surroundings , and food. The prices too are very reasonable. I can thoroughly recommend Holdi, a little gem, in Little Sutton.

This Resturant is lovely. Very friendly staff. Comfortable surrounding and fantastic food. Every customer is treated the same, whether your in a party or a couple.

The best Indian takeaway food we have tasted. Love the set meals, great value for money. We tend to order by phone and collect when its ready which is great. If we are ever away from the area for the weekend, we have not found a takeaway yet that matches the quality and taste of the Holdi food.

Used holdi take away for the first time last Monday ( 23rd) and was very impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and we were all very pleased with the amount of food and the quality of it. And it's very reasonably priced too. We chose to collect and didn't have to wait too long for our order . Also the staff are great and the waiting area is very comfortable.

The service is always friendly (much more so than the eat in restaurant). The food is awkward if good quality, made to order and served hot. We've never had issues with wrong orders or slow service, best curry in the area.
