Came here as couldn't get in anywhere else...Not the best indian. Over priced and over spiced food. Ordered the mix grill and was covered in some herbs. Comes with no sauce unlike some places and they thought charging £5 for a bit of sauce was OK. Won't go again, can see why it's so quiet. Left wishing we'd got a Chinese takeaway from over the road

Enjoyable evening in nice surroundings with very good food, my madras was really good and shaslick even better for the wife, all in all a good experience

This used to be our go to place...we would rather go without if we could not eat here. The food was always fantastic and we have recommended Delhi St to many. However, over the past few months we have experienced a sad decline in quality across the menu. Dishes seems to hold way more oil, veg based dishes are on the mushy side and the naan breads have gone from being the best we've had from any UK restaurant to being possibly the worst. I suspect the decline in quality may be due to a change of ownership? In August we pre-booked a table online for my birthday in September. Table reservation confirmed and very much looking forward to my birthday meal, we were extremely disappointed to arrive find the restaurant was closed. Nobody had taken the time to contact us to advise that the business was closed. We will continue to use Delhi St (as this genre of cuisine is poorly represented in and around Chester) but nowhere near as often as we have and we certainly won't be recommending it to anyone. Come on Delhi St... get back on top of your game, we would really like to be able to update this to a more positive review and continue to support and promote your business.

Fab food,lovely friendly staff,definitely worth a visit. Would recommend to anyone who likes Indian and in the Hoole area of Chester.

If you love your authentic Curry's don't come here ! It was a nice place & the service was great but the food was so disappointing . this was our last resort because everywhere else was booked up ... Now we know why !

I vistited on Saturday with 12 of my mates on my stag do amazing service so accomodating and the food was amazing great value for money best meal of the weekend by fair highly recommended

It was excellent from start to finish. Service and food was excellent and our group was accomodated easily. Tables were moved together. Would visit again if in the area.

Went on a very quiet Tuesday night. Was only us as a couple and another couple in the whole restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and welcoming. We went for the set menu for two. Had chicken tikka to start followed by butter chicken, chicken balti, egg rice and a garlic naan. Everything was very tasty and well cooked. Would visit again

We ordered the meal for two persons £26 upon ordering I was told there is a £2 surcharge for king prawns (not stated on menu) I agreed as I know king prawns are expensive. Our order : King prawn Starter (swimming in oil) Onion Bhajis (not cooked in the middle) King Prawns Korma Tandoori King Prawns (swimming in oil) Pilau Rice (very dry) Tarka Dhal Coconut Naan ( sugar and coconut topping) Garlic Naan ( garlic topping) The bhajis were soaked in oil and not cooked in the middle, oil not hot enough when cooked is my guess. I am used to king prawns cooked in a clay Tandor oven. The prawns that were delivered were medium sized and certainly not worth the extra £2 and the main NOT King prawn tandoori dish costing £12:95. The Naan breads were in edible and that’s not me been dramatic! They had coated the top of the Naan with sugar and coconut and once the sugar had soaked the bread hardened the whole Naan was hard and soft around the edges. As for the garlic one it wasn’t cooked. I’m guessing their tandoori oven isn’t working or they just don’t care about their reputation. Before writing a negative review I always give the restaurant the opportunity to put things right. I was TOLD by the chef that my complaint isn’t validated and was quoting prawn sizes. It was pointless arguing and I made it very clear I would never order from his restaurant again to which I was told that’s my problem and he hung up on me. If you like Tandoori King Prawns try Barton Rouge or Coconut Grove in Chester. I have never been disappointed and will stick to my regular takeaway.

Spacious restaurant with a contemporary atmosphere in the popular Hoole area of Chester. Very good freshly cooked and reasonably priced food. Particularly liked the tarka dhal. The experience was made even better by the friendly and efficient table service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We found this restaurant on Google and although it was a good 20 minte walk from our hotel, the reviews sounded good so we booked a table. The staff were very welcoming, distancing rules were followed and there was a good choice on the menu. The staff were amazing, especially one waiter who could advise on what foods went together and apparently had learnt to cook some of the dishes so he could advise people better - what a star!! We love Indian food and were not disappointed, good selection, well-cooked and reasonable prices.

We’ve had take aways from Hoole Indian a fair few times ,the last one we ordered a few weeks ago was not that great but thought I’d give them another go tonight as they are usually good. However unfortunately we were disappointed.Not sure if they’ve changed chef or supplier but I’ve definitely noticed a difference, the meal arrived cold and the curries has little meat in and are definitely not as tasty as they used to be.

We have been intending to try this Indian for a while now. The set meal for two was great with loads of choice and great value. Service was friendly and quick. Thoroughly recomended.

Desde el momento en que entramos en el restaurante no pudimos criticar el servicio y el personal, nuestro camarero Mahir nos habló de algunos platos de los que no estábamos seguros y sugirió lo que salió bien juntos, fue tan atento, amable y servicial sin exagerar. El otro camarero, Quium, era igual de amable y tenía una sonrisa encantadora. La comida fue increíble, fue una de las mejores comidas indias que hemos tenido, las porciones fueron muy generosas, el nivel de especias es perfecto, gracias a ambos por una velada agradable, estamos ansiosos por volver, todo fue perfecto

Una comida muy, muy decepcionante. Pedimos que nos entregaran una comida para llevar. Cuando llegó, el curry era muy pequeño y apenas tenía pollo. Además, no tenía sabor. Pedí un Rogan Josh y no tenía ningún sabor, solo podía tener sabor a tomate. Podría haber pasado como un plato italiano debido a que solo sabía a tomate. Además, el paneer sag no era lo que conocemos como paneer sag, muy insípido. No lo recomendaría.

Arrived early on a sunday night. Only 3 other tables occupied at any one time during our visit. Service was slow for ordering and drinks. Don't particularly like being called "Guys" everytime the waiters visited the table when it is a mixed party. Food was a bit disappointing, quite bland ( second visit we have found this), portion sizes of main dish quite small and when you add on the cost of the rice or naan bread, it is not a cheap night out. On the plus side they do offer free corkage on your own wine on a Sunday night, if only we had known in advance.

Went last week with a friend. The staff were friendly and attentive, the mango chutney with a hint of curry was excellent. Curries were well presented and full of meat. Enjoyed the experience and will go again.

Having been curry connoisseurs since the '80s we know what we like. So, we studied the online menu ahead of our visit and decided on murgh massala (for me). However, on arrival Spencer informed us that this choice was no longer available as the online menu was out-of-date (really!) Moan over, but one star lost as this is the 21st century.Our meal choices (chicken tikka rogan josh, and madras) were excellent, timely, hot and perfect in portion size too. Spencer proved to be a good advocate for the restaurant (and brought our Cobra refreshment with courtesy and cheer). Highly recommended...but ignore the online menu!

Recommended by the B&B we were staying at, we found the food to be good qualitity and hot. Comprehensive menu, which the staff were more than willing to explain. My own meal of Lamb Bhuna was the best i've had for a long time. The staff were very friendly from the minute we walked in to the time we left, nothing seemed to be to much trouble.Will definately visit the restaurant again,

Very quite, no atmosphere. In the past we have been here, and had a good experience, but it was Saturday night in between Christmas and New Year, at one point in the evening we were the only people in the restaurant. A young waiter tried to convince my friend not to have the lamb korma as it would not taste good to mix spices and sweet!? Also we were told that the oven could not cook the naan bread that had anything inside as it was not hot enough. The dishes were not as tasty as before and the meat appeared small processed pieces or frozen. There seemed a lot of food being take away food. The card machine was a white PIN number box, which could not provide a receipt. A complete change from the busy bustling restaurant we visited last year. Quiet and no atmosphere, for a Saturday night. No vibe

I live about a 5 minute walk from his place so would love for it to be a good curry house. Despite being disappointed on numerous occasions I keep giving it another chance but I wont anymore. The breads are awful and the currys seem like not much effort has been put in. The staff seem to have given up too. It's a shame but I think this place is finally on it's way out!

Great service here, poppadoms ordered and brought within a minute so could enjoy those whilst looking through the menu. Great main courses and perfect portions sizes. Really tasty would recommend!

We ate here on a Friday night, didn’t have a table booked but they accommodated us. Service was excellent staff are very friendly. We had chicken Chang & chicken makhani both were delicious and full of flavour. I’d definitely recommend a visit here if visiting Chester.

Walked in off the street and asked for table for two, we were offered a table in the middle of the restaurant I asked for a table near the wall the waiter immediately cleared a table that had just been vacated and were seated with drinks within 5 minuets. We had a the usual popadoms which promptly arrived they were fresh. We ordered main course I had a madras and my partner had a biryani my madras was so full of flavour with a little kick best madras I’ve ever had. My partner said her biryani was full of flavour and also the best she’d had. It was the perfect portion size I finished the whole meal and was totally satisfied. Would highly recommend this restaurant excellent food, service and value for money.

Came to Dehli Street again this evening after numerous visits! I always love dehli street and tonight did not disappoint! Both the food and service were great! We were checked on several times to make sure that all aspects of our meal were perfect. To start I had the sheek kebab which was great and for main a korma but I have to say all the dishes I’ve had from here have always been great! Always leaves me wanting to come back for more, thanks Dehli Street team :)

I love a curry and eating here has been on my to do list for a good while My favourite Indian eateries include Johnny Ghurkas Nepalese in Aldershot Polti in Hammersmith West London and Qmin in Lichfield Staffs all of which are highly reccomended I like Kokonut Grove in Chester but its southern Indian and whilst very good I want something with a hot spice and Delhi Street fits the bill

Ordered a meal from here for my family several weeks ago. Food was okay and family all left feeling fed. However, since ordering I’ve being getting promotional text messages form the company. I’ve attempted to opt out of these messages on numerous occasions. I’m still getting the messages and I’m also charged 12p on my phone bill each time I attempt to opt out. I’ll be reporting the company to the information commissioner over the weekend.

Family break to Chester during the Easter holiday we dined at this gem of a restaurant. We ordered King prawn spinich, chilli chicken, butter chicken, dhaal and also a meat dish. I cannot recommend one dish they were all equally amazing in taste. It wasn't your run of the mill Indian it was Gourmet cooking. Each dish was packed full of flavour not watered with thick gravy! If you enjoy authentic dining experience I highly recommend!

Came with some friends, we all had great service and enjoyed the meal. All the dishes came out hot, with not one complaint from any of our group. Great staff always willing to help, and atmosphere, will be back here asap!

The food is average. I had garlic chilli chicken on the 2 curries for £12 deal.The curry was nice but the naan wasn't fresh. Portions are very stingy, in the plastic containers.

we ordered a take away meal on Mothering Sunday through the just eat app from Delhi street in Faulkner street hoole when the meal came it was stone cold and slimy onion bargies the butter chicken i ordered well what can i say it certainly wasn't butter chicken and the naan bread wasn't fresh really really awful the chips had been re fried i don't know if its through the just eat app they just throw all kinds of slop at you or if that's what they serve in the restaurant itself (YAK) Please be very careful and dont waste your hard earned cash on this place we have complained to the just eat which you cant speak to anyone it has to go through emails it seems they are quick to take your money and dont want to do anything if you complain

Avoid avoid avoid. Terrible food. Unless you like eating stale overcooked keema nann bread, reheated chips and main meals that are watery tastless and contain no meat and the only thing that separates two meals is the food colouring, stay away and go to a proper Indian takeaway. Even when I complained they offered no refund or compensation apart from a replacement nann, which then contained no meat and although not over cooked was still stale.

Ordering a take away in person, being told it would be twenty minutes,and waiting for nearly three quarters of an hour is what happened to me. The problem was my spinach bhaji which went "missing" in the kitchen as explained to me by a very polite waiter. Eventually we got the food. It was excellent worth the wait but stopped me rating this a five. But I will be back if in the area again.

Having already had a disappointing meal at this restaurant and feeling in a generous/lazy mood I ordered a take-out. Took the plunge, offered a second chance. The food could have come from a can. I can’t really expand upon this. I can make better myself.

Ordered a takeaway for 6.... told to collect in 15/20 minutes, so restaurant not busy ( only a few people in when we arrived) Totally disappointing food - Almost cold... didn’t feel like it was fresh at all... barely any meat in the meat dishes just 4 prawns in the prawn masala.... tarka daal was literally like a broth! Not only felt like we had wasted over £60 felt ill later on in the night too.....Delhi belly not nice .... Thought about calling to complain today but after reading other recent reviews that mention rudeness of staff/ customer service not sure it’s worth bothering but will be giving Delhi street the swerve!

I came here for tea with husband last month. We both had two of the specials which were recommended by the staff. We really enjoyed the food and the staff were very attentive. Will return again.

Went with a largish group of squash plays and a few mates for our Christmas curry. Never been before so was taking a risk with the last curry house (at Saltney) having been moderate food with terrible service in a barren environment!

Ordered a takeaway from here ,the food was that bad we did not eat it ,very poor quality, burnt ,cold and tasteless cost us £31.00 Rang the restaurant to complain told to email there Director,won't be ordering nor visiting this restaurant again, they think because it's a takeaway theye can fob you off with any old rubbish.

Thursday night visit with friends. I like this place as it’s very roomy. Service was fabulous-quick and attentive. Reasonable prices. Really tasty food! Lots of good offers on throughout the week. Will definitely return.

I lodge in Hoole and eat out regularly but foolishly head into town. Great service here , main meat lamb soft and freshly cooked, service excellent, vibe relaxed and warm.

Having eaten here many times and the food being lovely, we popped in Sunday evening for a takeaway. We were not greeted at the door but instead the blonde manager walked through the restaurant through her tea towel down on the floor behind the bar and shouted that they were closed. When I asked what time they closed, baring in mind there were plenty of people in the restaurant waiting for and being served food whilst we were in there, she snapped and yelled “we are closed”. When I told her that their website says different to her ‘apparent’ closing times she scoffed, turned her back and said “oh well” before storming off.

We haven't experienced the restaurant as such, but we did call in after a few drinks in local pubs, and decided to order a takeaway. We ordered drinks to enjoy while we waited.

Visited on chance on a wet evening as it was close to where we were staying so was delighted to find it is a cut above the usual with excellent service and superb food. To top off the experience we received an unexpected 50% discount on the food (normally offered on Fridays I believe).

As someone that has recently moved to Chester, I have been desperately searching to find a curry house that would fill the shoes of my favourite Indian restaurant in Southampton.

We both enjoyed our meals very much and value for money. On Wednesdays there are many meals reduced by 50%. The staff were attentive but not overly so. Will go back.

Been to Delhi Street a couple of times now. Food is pretty much average. Establishment has a nice atmosphere. Service from all the staff was good.

Second visit to this restaurant, again attentive staff, background music not too intrusive. Jalfraizi and garlic chilli dishes ordered were both flavoursome and were as described. Mushroom rice tasty but a little too oily for my liking as not described as fried on menu. Otherwise still the best Indian we have found in Chester in 2018.

Went with friends recently. My mate loves the hot stuff, I tasted his and made my lips numb. He said it was fantastic, I’m more of Balti man myself, we where both happy with our meals and our wife’s the same. Service and hospitality both where excellent. Would certainly go again

This is the only Indian restaurant I have ever been in that will not make me a reshmi kebab. I have been in hundreds of different Indian restaurant s across the country 80 percent of them didn't have it on the menu but still made me one.

Have just spent the last hour and a half waiting for a takeaway that hasn’t arrived. Called to enquire and was told that the order hadn’t been processed as they were having some ‘technical difficulties’. No apology or refund offered. We asked to cancel the order and the man on the end of the phone hung up on us.

My wife and I visited this restaurant over the weekend which ended up being one of our most bizarre experiences ever in such an establishment. We were shown to our table then within around 30 seconds we were asked if we would like a drink, barely chance to get settled let alone chance to read the drinks menu (this is not totally unusual I agree, but given what followed it needed to be mentioned). We ordered our meal which was a main each for us and four popadoms with dips, one of these dips was nothing more than coleslaw, where did that come from? Whilst we were enjoying them a waiter came to us and mumbled something about the popadoms, “erm yes” we replied. Next thing we know the popadoms were taken away (one and a half still remaining) and our main meals were presented. “Oh well, we will carry on” we thought. This was the most strange part of the evening with the four members of the waiting staff now staring in our direction, not looking for anything to do but just staring, my wife commented that she felt that it was like feeding time at the zoo! Really very strange!! Shame really as the food was decent (apart from some chips that my wife sent back but we were not charged for), but really not enjoyable given the overall experience of the evening.

I have been here a few times now and it never disappoints. The food is always excellent and the service is friendly and helpful. They are very happy to cater for children and those who are a little bit uncertain about Indian food, whilst their specialist dishes are a real treat for those who appreciate their curries. Highly recommended!

I was in Chester for one night and I happened across Delhi Street this evening. All I can say is that I am glad I don’t live around here or I would be the size of a bus.

Hurrah! After recently moving into the area and a full 6 months of searching, we have finally found an excellent Indian restaurant! Dehli Street in Hoole is where we found great, fresh, well cooked, authentic Indian food. The service was sublime and the menu comprehensive, with something to suit all tastes and palates. The restaurant itself is styled in a contemporary-yet-ethnically relevant genre. At 5pm on Sunday afternoon, we were only the second customer to arrive, yet by the time we had eaten, it was almost full. Do give this place a try soon and you’ll emerge as we did, very satisfied and determined to return soon.

Discovered this place by accident when out with some friends and been back twice !!! I know lots of the Indians in Chester but the food in this one is delicious... with some Indians the food always seems a little pre prepared,the dishes here seem freshly cooked and not re heated. Chicken Sashlik was a particular delight , real chicken breast and it smothered in sauce (you choose the sauce to come on the side )

I was quite disappointed in this restaurant; I think the jarred sauces you can buy from the supermarket are better than the food we had here. My husband ordered a curry that he was warned would be very spicy; it was hardly spicy at all.

We went to eat there last weekend, absolutely loved the food! I’ve had a lot of Indian food and this was just spot on, flavoursome. We asked for a few tweaks to our food (fussy children and adults!) and even though the restaurant was busy all of our needs were accommodated for. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. Really enjoyable evening with flawless food. Will be revisiting again :)

Staff disinterested and indifferent to customers. Second visit as first impression was not wonderful but willing to give it another chance. Service slow and when the food eventually arrived it was average. Located in a cool part of Chester which is crying out for a quality Indian eatery. Would not return......not an enjoyable dining experience. Over priced versus quality.

This has been my favourite curry house for over 6 years but the last twice it has been pretty poor. Yesterday we had 4 curries that we have had numerous times before and they were poor, the meatballs in the bhuna were tiny and very overcooked, sauces bland. Onions bahjis half the size of normal, overcooked and dry. We had to send the naan back for longer cooking as it was doughy and undercooked. We ordered starters, ate them and 20min later had repeatedly asked for our order for mains to be taken to no avail.

Food was lovely slightly slow service but that's okay. However a blonde lady potentially manager! Disgraceful. Apparently you Carnot order starters and no main being as some of us don't like any of the mains this was difficult, was spoken too in an awful manner and the lady looked liked she enjoyed shouting at customers and had a very smug look on her face. we were a larger party and not one of us will be returning due to this! I can get food just as nice else where. Absolutely awful service and staff need educating on what manners and customer service are

Beautiful food once again this evening, warm welcoming staff, beautiful food cooked & flavoured just to our taste. The staff & management really do strive to ensure every customer is catered for. This restaurant is truly an asset to Hoole , we shall be back very soon

I went to this restaurant as it was always full. I ordered tandoori chicken, daal and rice which is standard fayre. I had tandoori chicken which was tasteless, daal which looked like custard but the rice was well cooked.The manager was rude and was taken aback when I said the food was awaful.

Food was overpriced, small portions, but tasted reasonable. Poppadum pickle meagre portions , poppadums not crisp. The Waitress service was very efficient and attentive, the manager was friendly, the restaurant was clean and fairly basic furnishings but comfort was adequate.

Dehli Street is our local Indian restaurant and we're very lucky to have such a good one on our doorstep.

Nice ambience. The two waitresses were very pleasant. The curry itself was ok. I like a hot curry and get a bit irritated when a vindaloo has no heat. This one though. Phew!! Beware if you don’t like too much heat. Not complaining though.

Our meal was lovely and both of the staff members who served us were friendly and polite. Only complaint was that the coffee machine was broken so we were offered instant coffee as a replacement! Would recommend

Long story short. Got shouted/screamed at and asked to leave the restaurant because my friend and I wanted to order 4 starters instead of a main. This was their policy which isn’t written anywhere or wasn’t verbally said to us before we sat down. Fair enough it’s policy. We then asked for the bill we got told that many customers had been lost because of us - clearly we aren’t classed as customers. The manager then screamed at us again and told us to get out. My friend asked to pay for our drinks and got screamed at again. Never been so humiliated in our lives in front of a very busy restaurant. Felt like a criminal. Such a horrible attitude by a “manager”. We asked to speak to the owner and she come to us and said you are wasting your time he won’t speak to you write an email instead. She was very arrogant, smug, aggressive and generally a disgusting person. Spoke to the owner and didn’t get much further. Got told the matter would be dealt with and to write an email if we wanted a response. We got told we were “argumentative girls” as we were merely trying to get our experience out to him. As an owner I would have expected a far better response than his. Never go here!

A lateish Thursday night in Chester, we didnt want to go too far from the hotel for dinner so settled on this place.

Poor service,food average for the price. When asked for a small glass of wine i was told we only sell large glasses.

We went early Saturday evening Staff were very attentive but not overly so Food tasted so fresh, was served promptly and looed lovely Like the finishing touch of Lassi at end of the meal Will definitely be going again

After booking reservation for 9 people and informed no set menu or price was devastated on arrival with our close friends who had travelled far to spend new years eve with us to be told we would be charged £25 per head, trying not to create a negative atmosphere amongst our family and friends I tried to discuss with the manager if we could negotiate a price, unfortunately with his arrogant manner towards me he informed me he couldn't negotiate any other deal. Considering the restaurant was partly half full I found this difficult to comprehend, however we made the decision to leave risking a disappointment to our children + friends but felt due to the rudeness and lack of compassion to accomodate our needs on this special occasion. We will never return how sad for a new establishment in a local community to have no concept of customer values.

First visited this restaurant with some friends and our meals were excellent. Booked again and it was a completely different experience. The naan bread was undercooked,doughy and really sweet. One of our mains was a king prawn jalfrezi which was awful. (I had the same dish from Delhi street the week before and it was completely different!). There was not a king prawn in sight only small regular prawns. It was bright red in colour and tasted far too sweet. We mentioned it twice to our waitress who seemed to be sorting it out but never did. We didn’t eat the dish and was very surprised to see we had been charged for it! We paid in cash and were due some change of over £5 which the waitress presumed was a tip so didn’t bring it back to our table. We consider this very poor service- if we want to leave a tip, which we always do, it is our decision to leave it and not the staff! We also had to find and fetch our own coats. Poor service and food - we will not be returning.
