We were origionally going to the turkish restaurant just down the road but its shut for August, the food here was delicious ,garlic chilli chicken, just the right amount spicy and lots of flavour, good peshwari naan too

Forgot to order nan bread, Phoned restaurant and was given one free of charge, really appreciate, thanks Will definitely be using this restaurant again Top marks👍👍👍👍👍

8 friends met up for a get together and of course after a few drinks where else do you go to but a curry house . Been before so knew the food would be half decent so plumbed for here. Service good food pretty decent so nothing to complain about from anybody.

We went for a meal here recently, the only thing we enjoyed was the poppadoms and dips. The main meal was awful, it had raw chicken and tough what was supposed to be lamb. Definitely won't be going again. Very disappointing and £50 wasted.

Poor costumer service , and I ordered chicken biriyani, poor food there is no food quantity for the money. Really waste of money.Very bad experience. Don’t go to this restaurant. It worthless…

Best Indian Cuisine Restaurant in Chester with lots of non-meat (vegetarian) options to choose from. The food here is freshly prepared and they can even customise the dish to your required taste so your taste buds are satiated.

Don’t go if you like your food to be more than lukewarm. Went here after a night out as it was local to the pub .. ordered chicken tikka masala- this came out lukewarm. The chicken was cooked but not hot. Didn’t send it back as was concerned they would just bung it in microwave. Will not go there again.. staff were nice x

Just found a big piece of decomposing plastic in my food, lucky I didn't put it in my mouth . Gross 🤢. Complained to deliveroo so waiting to see if I get a refund . All went in the bin.

I will not recommend this restaurant to any INDIANS and to be honest, to anyone. The one star review are not lying. We ordered a paneer sabji and it was so sour that it was unbearable, when we told them they just added water in it and removed half of the gravy. Then we order pulao and it was very oily and felt like they were uncooked that was the time I realised that the food they serve is just ready to eat meals heated up. Don’t eat Indian food here it is just a waste of money instead just enjoy local food

Today I went for a buffet lunch for 13£ , I must say that I had the worst food in the name of Indian cuisine. I won't recommend anyone to go and waste your pound. The food was old ,the meat was overcooked, the rice was sour and very old cooked.. Pakoras were double fried. I cook far much better than this restaurant food on daily basis. I will strongly recommend not waste the energy of even trying food.Its not Indian food. It's a psuedo version of Indian food restaurant.

Good food as always, however poppadoms were abit soft and mostly crushed so i wasnt able to tell how many there actually were, but good nonetheless

I usually don't leave reviews. I've had food from here a few time before I didn't really like it but after finding out they've changed their kitchen management I thought of giving it another try, i ordered the Lamb Tikka Biryani and must say it was killer, I've ended up ordering another one, I recommend everybody must try this once and decide for themselves, probably won't go to other Indian restaurant in the area now.

The chef had changed recentely and now taste of dishes are really nice and staff is very cooperative and they also attend in between for follow up order or any requirement. All in one it's best place to have lunch and dinner for Indians especially.

I can't believe how many bad reviews this place has. We came and ate at this establishment last night and absolutely loved it. It was very late but they accommodated us. Super friendly, polite staff. I really don't like spicy food so I always worry when trying a new Indian place but everything was cooked perfect. Beers nice and cold. Slightly on the pricey side but its well worth it and people need to consider that being located in a city centre will make it more expensive. This was just as nice as our usual local Indian

Good value for money, good food

Chester Tandoori’s food is excellent but it looks like the just eat driver took multiple orders to opposite ends of town. We ended up waiting nearly an hour for delivery while ETA Kept getting longer. When it arrived the bag had been tipped on its side and curry was spilled out of the container all over the bag. The food is now cold and the driver took too long.

The Sunday Buffett was very poor. Not a lot of choice and some of the dishes consisted of mainly sauce and very little meat. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here and sadly I won’t be going back.

Good food. Nice service too. They would accommodate how spicy you want for the food. Buffet is nice with a okay selection of food. Not too busy today

If only there was less than one star to give I would definitely choose that. 5 of us Indian students went to have dinner here. The manager Mr.Noor was super arrogant and rude. He asked us to leave the restaurant when we asked to alter the order slightly. He screamed at us and made a huge fuss. The food was horrible. Extremely spicy. And masala was uncooked. Tasted very raw. Ruined our weekend. On top of this they summed up the bill wrong and gave us a bill of 23pounds instead of 18pounds.

We were group of 5 friends from India who visited Chester as tourists , the whole day was amazing except for this part. Firstly the food and the service wasn't good and later the owner / manager Mr.Noor was very rude to us and asked us to pay the bill and walk out when we were normally asking something to order further, in the middle of our dinner, on top of it also gave us a wrong bill which we had to ask to be changed again. Till date wherever we travelled in UK, people were very polite and humble we were so happy about it but this guy just ill treated us and we don't even know why . I request everyone that if you want to taste Indian food , this is definitely not the place basically the food just had chillis and nothing else. And all those Indian tourists /immigrants who wants to visit please be aware before you enter🙏

I visited this establishment a few days ago and was not impressed. While the food and service was okay I did have a big issue with the bill. The adding up of the was increased by about a tenner! The reason given was it had just been added up wrong. Not impressed. As they say - Do the Math.

In the korma there were about 5 pieces of chicken. Most of the container was sauce only.

What fraudsters, I ordered food from here and it's absolutely horrible. The keema nan bread broke my jaw and there was no meat at all and the samosa was bland and distasteful. I will never ever order from here ever again. What a disgrace ce to Indian cuisine.

Home delivery tonight came cold. And potion size was disappointing. Had the Garlic chicken which only had 5 very small pieces of Chicken. Lovely sauce however. Mushroom rice container half full. Egg fried rice came watery and tasteless We were very disappointed as only heard good things. But sadly cold food isnt our thing and quantity very small on take away.

Treated by the staff as though we were regular customers, even though it has been several weeks since we had last been in there, Excellent value for money, and an intention to go again really Soon !!!

Very worst experience ever at UK. Visited on November 8 Wednesday as we are about to celebrate an occasion. Had a pregnant lady and 2 kids along with 3 adult. Papadam was burnt and Mixed Tandoori was very spoiled. Complaint about this to waiter, literally he pulled the entire plate from us and taken to kitchen and no one responded to us for more than 15 minutes. If the food spoiled, they should have responded back or apologized. They didn't both and no one was bothered about that. We started enquiring to manager and he simply says this was the taste of dish. We are not fools to accept the spoiled food was the taste of mince. Then in another 10 minutes he came back with good one of same dish and says the flesh was from another container. I didn't understand the statement still from him, how can he give the reply like this. Would like to mail food inspector team to check their food stock. As per my suggestion, very worst service, food and hospitality and doesn't recommend to any one.

forgot one of the curries then sent it out about an hour later an it was cold so was the chicken.

Lovely food and good quality but the Dahl was more like a soup still beautiful though with fresh coriander and garlic and worth it plus I like soup

Ruined my Friday night. Onion bhaji were horrible. Curry sauce looked like it had Heinz veg soup in it with sweetcorn. All the meat was tough to - avoid and save your money

We couldn't decide on just one or two dishes so opted for the thali - a great choice. Portions were very generous; another time I wouldn't have poppadom beforehand! We were beautifully served by the young waiters and were greatly impressed by the kindness the manager/owner (?) showed to a Turkish family trying Indian food for the first time.

Went in on Saturday night. Table for 4. Place was in chaos. Waited 20 mins for our drinks order to be taken,then another 45 mins for our food order to be taken. Other people were getting up to leave because of the terrible service. The delivery guys were moaning about the waiting. The manager was rude, and grumpy ( we nicknamed him Basil Balti) as the whole place was like being in Fawlty Towers. Food was cold.. WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE BACK. AVOID

Rang to make sure they deliver the man on the phone said yes, rang back 10 minutes later to be told no delivery today, think they need to communicate more about if there's delivery or not

Been going here for 40 years tonight's experience was awful food was barely warm, we had d finished starters when the mains came out which had to be taken back as we were still eating, the man was shabby, didn't have a clue what he was doing, the manager came and tryd to rectify it but to late, we were out for a friend's birthday, we all will never go again

Curry was good! However rice was still hard first time it has came like this normally very good so was a little bit of a shame. However other then that all good!

Part of the order was missing but when i rang the restaurant to ask for the rest of my order, they said i had to reorder through just eat (which would mean paying again). They then put the phone down on me and every time i phoned back they kept putting the phone down again. Bad customer service and cowboys, just after your money!!!!

Come here all the time and can honestly say the food is allways good this place is my go to for Indian quisine I will not go anywhere else now I can’t honestly see why it has such low scores on Tripadvisor will be back again very soon

The spiciest Biriani I had, it was so hot it’s inedible.

After being a regulat customer for over 25 years I will never return. I ordered vegetarian passanda. It was literrally potato and carrots in a sauce. No ochra, onion, etc in it. The chicken in the rest of the party was equally poor. Too many short cuts.

Stop clinging on to your old awards. The buffet was absolutely terrible. I almost broke my teeth eating the rice as it was rock hard. Barely anything available at the buffet and they weren't being replaced.

Having read some negative reviews I wasn't sure BUT so glad we ignored them .. The food was exemplary..service superb.. ONION BAJI starters were superb ..chicken tika massala fantastic ..wife loved her chicken bhuna..egg fried rice simply amazing...good wine and beer choice..service friendly and attentive...an absolute joy to dine here ... forget the negative people take it from 2 scottish well travelled people CHESTER TANDOORI..is a must esp if you stay like us at the mill & spa ..5 min top walk away ... 100% superb..

Delicious food delivered speedily. The delivery man refused point blank to stay while I checked the order( it was short last time) He said it wasn’t his responsibility. Luckily it was all there this time.

I went in the chester tandoori yesterday the welcome was nice, I had papadum and pickles, which were bland, and the tandoori mixed grill, I was not impressed at at all, the tandoori chicken was good but the rest was over cooked the prawn was like rubber, and the tikka had never seen the inside of a tandoor at all, it was cooked and dipped in the sauce, but that was it, I paid and I left thanks Taz not your fault.

First time eating in Chester and this place was near to our hotel. The food was tasteless, the biriyani veg sauce was off. They apologised and gave mushroom and chickpeas sauce instead. The chicken jalfrezi was chewy probably reheated chicken. The nan bread was also chewy. The meat biriyani was drenched in oil with not much flavour. Very upsetting considering prices over priced for the portion size.

We ate here on 26/05/23, around 10:30pm. Many of the other restaurants were closed but Chester Tandoori was open, like any good curry house should be! The place wasn’t very busy, maybe about 4-5 other small groups and some were clearly regulars. We were offered poppadoms on arrival. And we also ordered drinks and a Thali for 2. The poppadoms were served warm, were crisp and came with plenty of sauces. The drinks (Kingfisher and a white wine) arrived promptly and were chilled. The main Thali meal was great. Lots of little taster dishes in small pots served on a large stainless steel tray. Each of the small dishes was really nice and had a variety of meats with sauces of different strengths. The naan on the side was hot and cooked perfectly. No bad after effects from the food ;-) Staff were pleasant, humourous and attentive. Heard staff talking to someone who was obviously a regular and I felt we were all treated equally - friendly and warmly welcomed. A great dining experience, and would visit again without hesitation. An easy 5*! Footnote: I only read some of the reviews after having visited, but some of the lower starred reviews for this restaurant seem like they’re talking about a totally different place. My experience was great and zero issues with the staff or the food.

Read the 1* reviews. We should have. The service can be described in 1 word, IGNORED. The buffet does not include poppadoms offered on arrival and charged extra for. We sent ours back as uneatable. We were then given 6 more. Only had 2 and charged £3.50. Cobra beer is a rip off £6 per bottle. The curries are all the same bland flavours, the egg and cauliflower pakora are a cheap version of chicken. Service is non-existant and staff are rude. Avoid. It's the worse curry experience ever. And I told them so. Also 1 offering of pudding and a broken chair in the deal.

Absolutely superb meal, best Indian I've had in the UK. Also solid pleasant service & central location. Would come here every week if I lived locally!

Great late night Tandoori and Curry house. We were welcomed around 11:30pm and staff was helpful on suggestions and very tentative. Papadam and naan went great with the Goat "Meat" Vindaloo and chicken Tikka masala. The Kingfisher tall bottles flowed as the spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ of the Vindaloo was top notch.

One of the oldest India restaurants in Chester

Been several times to this restaurant and the food has always been fabulous, I can now see why nobody else was dining there. The curry was tasteless and salty we were offered something else but I didn’t want to chance it Can’t believe how much the food has dipped, won’t be going again and don’t whether its changed hands or a decent chef has left!

On a day visit to Chester we stopped at the Chester tandoori for dinner as recommended by a friend. Excellent service and wonderful, fresh food. There was a slightly longer wait for the main meal as they were preparing the salmon. Under normal circumstances it wouldn’t be a problem and the wait wasn’t any longer than many meals i have had elsewhere. However, we had to catch a train. We asked for the food to be transferred to take out containers as we didn’t want to leave any. Staff were so lovely and obliging. Cant wait to go again and book a later train would 100% recommend

The person does not respect customer and talks with lot of demeanor. It was as if he wanted to decide for us how much quantity to order and on top he was very rude too. Its a no no for going in Chester Tandoori. Food is ok too.

The salmon wasn't 'just under', it was almost still swimming, save for the light tandoori crust. I had to remind the waiter to bring my veg and rice, which were cold when they arrived, after he had serviced a few other tables. I had the feeling they were trying to get me out quickly, because I have a disability, blepharospasm. I was charged in full for the bad food. I have wiped better off the bottom of my shoe.

Food was OK, service poor. Refused to honour discount on Taste card despite 2 for 1 still being advertised. They said it needed to come off as they don't offer this since the pandemic. £50.80 for 2 meals, one beer each, poppadoms and 1 naan, over priced without discount.

Food was cold and watery, item was missing which they did redeliver quickly but was cold. Unhappy with my order and food didn’t taste like it normally does.

My meat vindaloo was succulent and very tasty. Will definitely be visiting again . It was a quie lunchtime so I didn’t know what to expect . A great welcome and very impressed indeed with the quality of the food.

Really good all round. Popadoms fresh, good chutney tray that includes finely chopped onion and coriander, proper hot red sauce, nice yoghurt and mango. Curries are consistently excellent. I tend to do for specialist, but the classics are also good and match what they should...

Have not been for a while to Chester Tandoori. Went on new year's eve with a group of 12 people and was very impressed. The food was excellent and portions were very generous. Had the Goan fish curry for the first time and the dish was excellent. The service was also very good and helpful. Overall a great curry place to eat and will highly recommend.
