Hoi Sun Chinese Takeaway in Carlisle

Had sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, it was soggy (usually crispy), no veg just onions, chicken was tough and the sauce flavourless and the fried rice was stuck together. We will not be back

The son is a really poor customer service person.. Needs to listen. Food is good when you actually get the right order...

Terrible. Waited absolutely ages, no one to take order, no one when you go in and poor child expected to pick up the slack when people complain. Food is passable at best but really disappointed with timings

Poor food and that’s being polite and half of the order was missing which was not discovered until I got home. They don’t deliver so it was a 10 mile round trip. No delivery or apology was offered and phoning to report!! Avoid all cost 😡

We ordered Chips, Egg Fried Rice, Sausage and chicken and rice. The chips were terrible and tasted like they were from yesterday, the only ok think was the rice. The Sausage literally looked like, and im sorry to say, a burnt poo, it was hard and almost black. Would go here again, sorry.

Embarrassing Called this evening and a very young man turned up for an interview 7 customers present watching. Chineese manageress came from kitchen and literally screamed at 17 Yr old wanted a girl ure not a girl now go Disgusting g to watch her sexist perspective and the manner in which she destroyed this you g man confidence As 7 customers we agreed never to buy again from this chineese sexist racist takeaway

I ordered Kung po chicken and beef and mushrooms with boiled rice and chips The quality of the food was very poor the beef was very tough and tasted very sweet The chips must have been fried yesterday they were dry and hard This establishment used to be very good This is our second visit in the past 6 weeks the one before this visit was average this visit as l write has caused my wife to have severe stomach pains Be warned

Just picked up a takeaway from Hoi Sun. Inedible. Threw it away. Preferable to being sick all night. Crispy is not supposed to be chewy and the sauce on the main course was so bland. Never ever again.

Young teenager behind counter tried to charge 18 pounds for a 10 pound meal . No apologies tourist's be carefull this was a digerati act of FRAUD I WAS A REGULAR customer but have thrown meal away and will never call again

Love the chicken and sweetcorn and salt and pepper chicken and chips absolutely amazing just wish I could live closer or I would be having it daily

I have gone to this take a way all my life. It use to be the best I have ever had but the last year it has gone down hill. The staff are rude and you feel really uncomfortable going in. They have no customer service . Prices have gone to high and they add to much MSG to everything . Very disappointed in this place

Ordered a takeaway from here over the phone as we we’re staying a few miles away. Seven meals were ordered and we were told they would be ready in just over an hour. One of our group headed off to collect the food as disappointingly there was no options for delivery and when they arrived at the appointed time the order was only then handed into the kitchen which resulted in a further wait of abt 30 mins. We had offered to pay in advance over the phone but this was refused. If we had been told that the order would not be cooked until we arrived and paid in cash then we could have gone straight there and placed the order in person immediately. Once we got the food it was just ok. Chow Meins a bit tasteless and both beef with black bean and lemon chicken very glutteny sauces. I had asked for lemon chicken with a sweet and sour sauce which is something I do regularly if I’m not using my local Chinese and usually not a problem however this came with a very lemon sauce with a small carton of sweet and sour sauce on the side. One layer of chicken on a bed (must have been a whole tin) of pineapple chunks. All in all very disappointing meal all round.

Paid nearly £50 for very poor quality food. Spare ribs and beef were over cooked and tough. When we sat down to eat as a family the chicken curry was missing. After I rang them they apologised and said i could have a curry for free next time, well it wouldn't be free because I have already paid for it!! Would not go back, but i will be calling in for a refund.

Lovely takeaway food was really tasty, the order taken over the phone very polite and friendly it was the best special Kung Po we've ever had sadly on holiday but would recommend

Normally very good but chef must be absent as food was inedible it will be a long time before wasting any more money on such a poor takeaway

Worse Chinese I’ve ever had. Salt and chilli chicken was just chicken with a few onions, chips are frozen and hard. The curry sauce was good, but that was it. Really disappointed ☹️ If I could give 0 stars I would. I understand that because of COVID, it’s a tough time, but the food is terrible.

After supporting a local business over lockdown and understanding of the procedures now in place I am appalled by the service. Phoned for an order tonight and was greeted with a mere hello! asked for an order to be collected at 7pm placed the order and had it read back to me but wasn't asked for a name so I quickly repeated collection for 7 and my name just getting it in before being hung up on. When my husband went to collect at 6.55pm told them his name and the young!! boy handed the order slip back to the kitchen and the other customer in the shop said this will be fun as I have the same surname!! There order was wrong and ours was presented to us at 7.25!! Sadly the food isn't good enough to go back and the service is none existent and to the server "no point wearing a mask hanging off one ear!!"

The title reads a little harsh and it's not that bad, but nothing special either. Glad that they appear to pay more attention to cooking the food mostly fresh than they do to ensuring a good customer experience. Smiles hard to get and its a depressing place to visit.Range of food is just the same as you expect to find on any street corner of any town/city.Easy and reasonably cheap so has its place if you're in the mood.

Really tasteless gloopy food. We had three sweet and sour (a vibrant red colour) and a ginger chicken dish. All equally bad. Most of it went in the bin. Made us wish we were eating an airline meal, this was not up to the usually poor offerings on a plane.

I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls and Chilli beef. Quick turnaround with the order Food was hot and was ok taste wise. Service was friendly enough for a takeaway establishment Will try again.

Food is ok. The service was better on this visit. Last time I came a few weeks ago the service was terrible the Lady was having a conversation on the phone with her boyfriend and sounded very bad has in swearing and a bit dirty so I was not impressed at all

The rice had a horrible taste. The lemon chicken had oranges and pineapple in🥴.The Chicken tasted like rubber . Prawn crackers even my dog turned its nose up

Now I’m no native of south east Asia, but I’ve had enough Chinese food in my time to offer a fair and honest review. So let’s start. Food is generally speaking quite nice. What needs work is the ordering system and the speed of working. This place would reap reward from the Japanese way of manufacturing- efficiency and autonomy. Keep up the good food Hoi just please sort the wait time and ordering system!

We used this takeaway a few days ago while we were on holiday in the area. The food was very tasty and well cooked and we can definitely recommend it.

Whilst on holiday in Brampton, we decided this evening we did not want to eat out or cook. So I checked tripadvisor and came up with Hoi Sun Chinese Takeaway. My husband and I had a chicken curry and my son wanted a sausage. The sausage was the size of a cocktail sausage and so hard it was unbelievable. The chips were frozen chips fried, not freshly made on site ! The chicken curry was awful no other words to describe it, it all ended in the bin. If this is the best takeaway Brampton has to offer I feel sorry for those that live here !!

We had the duck chow mien and the chicken chow mien, both of which were amazing. Definitely the best we’ve had! The only shame is that we don’t love close enough to revisit.

It was very good to take home a chicken curry meal at a very reasonable price - good service was also the name of the day!

Was staying min Brampton for a night at a place that doesn't do evening meals so tried this place. Have to say the Singapore chow mein take away was as good as any take away I have had recently.

Yo tenía el mejor Kung Pao Pollo que he tenido y mi marido disfrutó su plato de carne. Tanto el pollo y carne era tierna y sabrosa.Si estás en la zona es realmente un llevar a probar.

Perfect for a takeaway, fast service and lovely tasting food, the singapore chow mein comes highly recommended.

As we were staying at the wigwams at new mills trout fishing park we popped in for a take away, thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I had the honey and chilli chicken my partner had chicken curry. Quick service,will definitely be back

Have ordered from here several times. The menu is quite large and varied. Quality of the food is very good. When I collect from here, I pass other takeaways which shows how good I think this place is.

Was ok ate from here twice over the weekend as we were on holiday, and the chippys were closed on a Sunday in the town the crispy shredded chicken was like eating slimy spicy slugs!

All ways fast prompt service. Chips okay, but Singapore noodle dish very good. They are happy to customise dishes to your taste and have introduced a new spicy menu.

Hoi Sun is my favourite Chinese takeaway. Although I'm very fussy I have a couple of things I love from here, so much so that I tend to order 1 of these each time we're here. My only negative world be that it seems to get cold fast but the quality of the meals are fab. Have had a few incidents where they forget to give the prawn crackers so always best to ask if you've got them at the end if you've ordered them (just a tip)

What can I say...accidents happen.But a large piece of pan scrub wire in a served dish is beyond acceptable.The order of 7 meals was mostly correct, 6 of them at least.Unfortunately the one that was incorrect, was also dangerous...to say the least.My mother in law chose to eat the incorrect meal, which was OK until she took a fork full and pulled out a 3 inch long piece of curled wire (very similar to a pan scrub).On calling and reporting this she was told she could have another meal...if she went to collect it.Another meal was sent but it took two calls and took 45 minutes to arrive. Delivered by a young girl, who looked like she had been forced to do it.The food however was quite nice and portion size OK. However you can be left with a bad taste in more ways than one.

Eaten here regularly over the last 10years, always well cooked and delicious. During weekends always super busy which is a great sign. Possibly the best Chinese take away I've ever had with all the expected dishes on the menu. The Singapore chow mein and the deep fried shredded Peking beef is just delicious. My favoured take away of choice.

This is the best chinese to order food from in Brampton. The food from here is good. Tried a vast majority of the menu and never get a bad meal. The only downfall is theres no delivery service. But by far nicest chinese food in Brampton..

Super efficient staff, extremely busy but food is with you in no time, not cheap but not overly expensive either. I enjoyed the mixed platter starter which was a range of several starters as a taster. Sweet & Sour chicken is excellent and so was the beef chow Mein. Rice here is an extra (my local Chinese its included) but I only mention that so you don't forget to order it - great value.

On holiday in the area and had a take away evening and chose here!Food was very tasty and hot when back at our accommodation.No complaints.

Having worked here for more than 15 years now, seeing ownership change hands, I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal! And any other Chinese I try never measures up!Absolutely love this place.

Lovely heard mixed reviews so needed to try for ourselves so nice and really enjoyed it. A lot better than its competitor in the town the golden palace as all their food is very bland cote opposite to the hoi sun! Would recommend!
