Excellent food, fantastic service and great place , sunday roast is excellent, bar staff are so friendly and curteous cant wait to go back

Beautiful setting and beautiful interior. The Milbourne Arms has been fantastic find. The food is fabulous, well presented, hot, and plenty. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend popping in for food or drink, just 5 wslk minutes from Carlisle Station

An absolute gem of a pub just off Carlisle city centre. Immaculately clean, superb beer and the best value, best tasting and hottest Sunday roast you could ask for (and great puddings to follow, if you have room!) If you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?

Came in to have a couple of pints today to check it out as they were on the list of Camra pubs. We did not have any food.

Lovely clean smart pub with interesting displays reflecting local history, and a very friendly, helpful landlord. We booked for Sunday roast yesterday, arrived to a warm welcome and our table set up ready. Table service was an unexpected bonus, and our drinks arrived cold and our meal piping hot. The roast was one of the best I'd had in years. Crispy roast potatoes, tender pork, plenty of veg, and tasty gravy. There was also a decent veggie option for my friend. The only reason I haven't given five stars is because there was no after meal coffee available, and I don't particularly want a huge television screen on next to me when I'm eating a meal. But otherwise, excellent.

A great community pub just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Superb quality beers and the best value and best tasting Sunday lunch you'll find. Food is piping hot, on hot plates and the portions are generous. Veggie and vegan alternatives available to go with your traditional Sunday lunch trimmings and, if you have room, the puddings are equally lovely.

Been to the Milbourne a few times lately over the last few months, especially when there is live music on. The food is excellent, turkey roast for me, service is great, this is a great local pub

As regulars of the much missed Howards Arms we were very glad that the same amazing chef is still providing the best Sunday lunches in town at this venue. Spectacular value for money, beautiifully cooked & presented and served by friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Went on Good Friday with the family lovely warm welcome pub was warm and clean as for the meal no complaints at all the food was lovely presented it was all homemade and it was very taste and portion were good as a family we would recommend this pub good service great food lovely environment definitely worth of visit

Revisited recently after a bad experience a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. Been redecorated very nicely, big screen with football and lovely bar staff.

brilliant mother’s day meal with the family, food was amazing and we were served by the fabulous roxanne who gave great recommendations and met all our requests going above and beyond to make our visits spectacular.

Went to walk in for a drink, the landlord practically ran out to stop us coming inside. Saying he was closing whilst people were still inside drinking. Obviously he had judged us before giving us a chance.

Getting a Sunday lunch like mum used to make is not that easy in Carlisle and when the Howards Arms recently closed the options were severely limited. That, of course was before news came through that the Milbourne Arms was taking on the role with, glory be, the same chef ! I had my personal favourite of roast beef etc. and to say the chef was keeping up the standards of the Howards Arms would be a vast understatement. Service, atmosphere, quality food at reasonable prices, the Milbourne has it all AND they stock non alcoholic Guiness! When you have finished your visit to Dunelm, which is just across the road, pop in for something to eat etc. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped off 4 wee drink on way back 2 holiday appartment Man behind bar was not in least bit interested!! At that point we where only people in main bar just not very 4th coming at all Was like we where interfering with what he was doing on his phone!!! Quite rude actually.

Are used to go to the Milbourne Arms along time ago, I said live on Melbourne Street, Milbourne Street I put both in this one was wrong. I know State control had a long time ago. I’ve seen a few managers coming along. My favourite manager was Albert and his wife looked after you. Well I haven’t got any tea against the pub I don’t drink no bus to a wonderful pub looking at pictures. Memories are coming back I had some fun in the pub along tamago top marks 10 out of 10 for those that pub, my local

My family stopped to eat here on our road trip London to Edinburgh (we are from Canada). The owner let us in a fee minutes before opening and got us something warm to drink. It was raining outside and a bit cold. The hosts were amazing and the food was picturesque. We each ordered something different and loved it. A++ I recommend this if you are local or traveling. The food was glorious.

Shocking. Went today for mothers day ordered 3 x beef with yorkshire pudding 2 of the Yorkshires looked like pancakes when I complained the waitress picked it up off my plate and muttered what do you want it to look like. Not cheap either £18 with 3 anaemic slices of cold roast beef. Guy behind the bar was a nice fella tho he couldn't apologise enough.

Not been in this pub for several decades when I worked at the GPO as a student. It has a good reputation for real ales and although a few minutes walk from the city centre, it was well worth the effort. Beer quality was excellent with two ales in excellent condition. Pub is immaculately clean and very pleasant seating and atmosphere. We visited early (6pm) on a cold night and it was a little on the chilly side but with heating costs what they are this is perhaps understandable. Overall, very impressed and will be back again soon.

Absolutely unbelievable 😍 first time for food and just on my doorstep had starter as well as main the homemade steak pie and home-made thick chips never tasted any pie nicer will definitely be back xxxx

Very dog friendly staff. Turned up for our booked reservation 30 mins early and managed to fit us in with no fuss. The food was of the highest standard and although we were going to have a sweet we were all stuffed by the main course. We will use again thanks again for the meal and friendly banter.

Sister pub to the Howard in Carlisle. Nice beer, friendly staff. A little out of the way from the town centre, but a nice walk in good weather. Haven't tried the food, but roast diners are meant to be good.

Lovely hotel with ample parking and a reasonable price. There was an issue with the lock on my room (which locked form the outside but not the inside) but I shared this with hotel staff so assume this is now resolved. The location is right near the Gretna centre. I would stay here again and do recommend it to others.

First time I've ever been in there and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. A great bar with very helpful, friendly staff.

My star rating is for Carlisle Christian Fellowship. For some reason each time I go to church Googlr thinks I am at the Millbourne Arms which is next door.

Slow service but very nice meal

Visited for first time with Hubby Saturday night. Pub really busy ,great atmosphere!we had not booked a table however with a bit of table juggling we were fitted in.Food was fab ,good quality ingredients and taking into account pub was really busy we were served remarkably quick. Locals were really friendly too! We will definitely be back Karen & Martin

Lovely, clean and welcoming. Four of us all had the roast beef dinner which was gorgeous, however I did feel they were a bit mean on the quantity. There was a single bowl of veg between the four of us equating to a piece of brocoli each etc. So I was still rather hungry!

What the "Milly" does they do very well-which is: Great range of drinks for all Lovely atmosphere-decor clean and fresh and unique to area and local history Friendly staff and all ages welcome-some good background music too Decent grub but if you just want a drink all is well Long may we sup there!

Visited twice in December before Xmas for Sunday lunch. The food was fresh, piping hot and plenty of it. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, considering it was very busy and all food and drinks had to be served to your table. Lovely clean bar area with sky sports showing and spotless clean and modern toilets. Will definitely be going back after lockdown.

Had wounderful meal with friends last night .. Homemade steak pie all the trimmings best ever had .. Scampi n chips and a must with onion rings .. Cumberland ring plus trimmings .. And our lovely puds delish .. Followed with a few cheeky drinks ... So i visited the Milbourne Arms after it had been closed for a very long time, it has now been refurbished and looks amazing the food is good the staff a friendly and there is a great selection drinks from Gins and real ale to a good choice of Larger and traditional ales I would highly recommend a visit here nothing is to much trouble for the staff 10 out of 10 from me

The very best Sunday lunch I have ever had. Roast beef was to die for and the gravy was amazing. Was filling up quickly because of the sheer amounts on the deep plate,but couldn't stop eating. I come away extremely satisfied and very very full.
