We used to use this place for a meal quite often but on this last cover we weren’t that impressed. I had fish and chips and my bread had gone a bit hard like it had been left out. My daughter’s steak was ok but the fries and other fried things we got were a bit over cooked and dry. The seats were split and in need of replacing. We aren’t going g to go back for a while, there are better places to try for the same money.

Really good food for the price, customer service would have been lower if it wasn't for the amazing employee that took our plates after, even helped us take a group picture. absolutely lovely lad. His name was Jacob, couldn't have asked for a better person.

This is my local pub and restaurant, love coming here, the staff is amazing and looking after my little girl who can't eat gluten. Thank you for all of you

I brought my sons as a treat and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service from Freya and Lisha was 5*. They really looked after us and made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.

So after a brief stop I stumbled across this place. As always never know what I'd fancy!!... Freya was there with some pretty cool tattoos, loverly person and said I should try the steak sizzler. Come out piping hot and the steak was cooked perfect. Medium rare as asked.... Every passing by well worth a popping your head in. 😃

We called here for tea when we were visiting the area for the Cumbria Revvi Race Meeting

Came in for lunch. As it was Friday we took advantage of the buy one get one free burger deal. I went for the Quadzilla burger whilst the wife had the bacon cheeseburger. Food was really tasty and cooked well. We come here occasionally and staff are always friendly. Natasha served us and was very attentive. A lovely trip here and definitely value for money.

Food was mid. Good staff. Tables could be slightly cleaner but plenty available so we just moved to another one. Free 3 hours parking (make sure to type your car reg into their tablet near the bar).

Had full English with my friends, atmosphere was calm and the servers Tasha and India were very friendly and helpful.

Ordered crown of burgers. Clearly these were not hand made burgers. Instead these were just store bought burgers, warmed up, served with a piece of limp lettuce and oven chips. Tip: covering something with mayonnaise and a cold cheese slice does not make bad food taste better! So not really cooked food so much as warmed up, cheap supermarket packaged food. If this sounds unappetising then … that is because it was. Awful.

Atmosphere at 3pm was quiet and friendly, staff helpful. Food was as expected and quick. India who served us was very good. Only had a single complaint and it was solved quickly. Happy family would recommend.

Unfortunately after leaving phone nos to an automated machine we have given up after an hour!!!!! It's saying that you have NO FOOD? we used to love a treat in the turf but you can't speak to anyone anymore, we won't be coming back.Weds 19th February, also I am disabled so I don't go out but my friend was kindly going to bring me down.

Food was decent (worth the price). Speedy and friendly service from Tash and India. Atmosphere was very quiet and laid back - a nice open space for children with additional needs

Popped into the turf today I was served by India and Thai they made us feel very welcome and have amazing customer service skills I will be back well done to them both 👍

Called in for a lunchtime pint, we are regulars and are usually more than happy with our goods and even more so with the service, until yesterday that was when we were served by a barman called Thai, our pints had a funny aftertaste and when we brought that to his attention he was extremely rude and dismissive, now we have actually heard him have this manner to others but that was the first time is was pointed to our direction, he took our drinks, said there was nothing wrong with them, and said he would refund us but not give us another drink, I asked why and he said he wasn’t will to because of the waste, surely any drink not up to standard should be replaced? We have had this in the past and our drink was quickly exchanged with a lttle sorry about that, that’s all it would have took, not to be called a liar and then refuses us a replacement, maybe all that Thai needs is some additional training in manners and customers service so he can join the rest of highly qualified and friendly staff

I had a really bad experience when I was out for a drink with a work mate I had paid 11.80 for two pints. That weren’t not up scratch. Point blank refused to change them only offered us our money back. THAI. The bar man was very rude to my mate. About the whole situation. Saying he had to watch the waste. So we were expected to drink the bad pints that were obviously the 1st ones pulled of the barrel. Which should have been pulled off b4 serving any to a customer in my experience. I think THAI. the bar man would really benefit from a bit of extra training. And then he would probably fit in with the rest his colleagues that always lovely and polite and keen to go out of the way for the paying customers

Called in today for a beer with friends and the service we encountered was nothing short of world class from Alisha and Freya, it was a perfect example of how professionally trained staff act and was in stark contrast to our bad experience with Thai the previous day, I am no customer service expert, however I do know how to be a decent human and would suggest the Thai shadows both the girls on today to learn how to actually conduct himself

Food was good, and good value for the price. Staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Sophie and India. We will gladly return.

Want for Sunday Lunch and definitely coming back again. Our servers were Jakub and India, they were really nice, helping us and created a lovely vibe for the afternoon. Great customer service! They allowed us to have so many straws because we kept asking for them and were very enthusiastic when we talked to them all and all a great experience

Great value cheap decent grub. Really fancied the beef yorkie pud burrito, but they had run out. Had the steak pie instead which was very tasty. Good place for children and adults alike. We have been before and we will go again!

Agree with Dennis Noble's review already posted....we were a party of 6 old school pals who meet up twice a year with our wives but we chose a different venue each year - this year we chose The Turf. How is wish we could turn the clock back and change our decision. It was dreadful !!! The worst Christmas dinner i have ever had/tasted. My wife and myself opted for the "traditional" Xmas dinner after having had the starter of a prawn cocktail. Let's start with the prawn cocktail - 3 iceberg lettuce leaves and a " sprinkling " of prawns with a dribble of marie rose sauce...but the "traditional" Christmas dinner was something else. The presentation looked like it had been stopped on to the plate...very rubbery poor quality chicken sliced from a roll...hard veg and 3 small roast potatoes that were from a batch of a deep frozen bag. Two of our party had travelled up from the south coast...we had a dessert of " traditional " Christmas pudding that had a spoonful of custard again dribbled round the bowl. We asked for extra portions of custard which staff were delighted to provide. I rated the experience ONE STAR if I could have scored less I would. It was very very poor. I very rarely give such a score on reviews of this nature but on this occasion I felt I had to let others know of my/our experience so you don't make the same mistake. Sorry Turf...this has got to improve in saying that I hope you do, and wish you still Very Merry Christmas.

We've all enjoyed our Christmas party, thank you to all of the staff for all of their hard work - Freya, India, Iain, Jacob and Tash. Food and customer service was fantastic highly recommended.

This charming pub offers a welcoming atmosphere for a relaxing evening. The menu features delicious, hearty meals at a very reasonable price . Their drink selection is extensive. The friendly staff provide attentive service, ensuring a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this pub for a casual gathering with friends or a cozy night out.

Met here for a meeting with friends to plan some future events. We chose this location as it's central to us all whether we walk or have to resort to the car. It was early on a Thursday evening, so we hadn't booked and were able to choose our own table. We were able to talk without being drowned out by background music or numerous people, which was ideal. I opted for a lovely mac n cheese toastie, sweet potato fries, and a gin or two. We ordered at the bar and waited a short while for our meals to arrive. We did have to temporarily move to a larger table to eat, as ours wasn't big enough for the plates. The staff were fabulous, the food was filling, and there was no pressure to be finished quickly and leave. Easy to get to on foot and by car, a good walk from the bus and rail stations. There's a car park onsite. I parked nearby and walked through as I wanted to avoid the evening rush hour in the city. We are likely to use this venue again for its convenient location.

Popped in for another bite to eat with the family. The food was good and the staff were great. The restaurant is now significantly cleaner than our last visit with no sign of insect activity.

Turf Taverns can be a little predictable but they have expanded their menu since the last visit. The Kofta flatbread was excellent 👍👍👍 as was the service from Tasha who endured our menu indecision with admirable patience. We'll be back!

Usually no complaints but food was below average beef looked like to rashers of bacon and no extra gravy on the side pub was quiet yet noone came to ask if everything was OK. My granddaughter enjoyed her chicken tikka though.

Lack of staff Poor hygiene habits of staff, messing with their hair whilst serving, rearranging nose piercings whilst serving drinks Staff with colds, sneezing and coughing all.iver bar and glass cleaning area, putting the glasses back on the shelf for drinks to be served in. Staff eating behind the bar and throwing things at each other. We received the smothered steak on griddle plate, menu stated larger portion of chips, 9 chips on plate, and not even as much as a tablespoon of cold peas. Not value for money, poor service and poor food Sadly will not be returning

Fast and friendly service off every team member, the pub is dog friendly, food very nice. Plenty of space and decorated nice.

Quick service, polite staff. One of our go to spots, always exceptional food and would definitely recommend to others.
