Toby Carvery Carlisle in Carlisle

Toby Carvery themselves, invited us, a local school supporting disadvantaged young people for a Christmas breakfast. The venue, food and especially the staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. We can not thank them enough for what they have done for our young people and the smiles they have put on their faces.

Kyle our server was really helpful and attentive, nothing was a problem for him and he kept our little girl happy by including her in all conversations

Big improvement from the last time we came which was 2 years ago and we enjoyed our experience and Naomi done excelent on the foh and atteneded to us when ever we needed.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Toby Carvery. The roast ham, especially with the pigs in blankets, was a standout. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the Yorkshire pudding was fluffy and perfect. A great choice for a hearty meal.

Lovely food, really good choices, server 'Rebecca' was amazing, always is on our visits. Atmosphere great always busy but always plenty of food.

Hadn’t been to a Toby in a long time, but after the superb experience we had today, will be going back soon. The staff were so friendly, with service and food being first rate. So impressed with this Toby, and the whole ambience it offers for a great dining experience. Thanks to the manager.

Absolutely beautiful food, staff were polite and friendly. The floor staff were working their backsides off to get as many people sat down as quickly as possible. Can’t fault the place ☺️

Exceptional service and food! Perfect hot chocolate (better than I make myself!) and lovely warm atmosphere! The hunters turkey and gammon yorkie wrap is the best thing I’ve tasted! Will definitely order that again and it may become a new favourite! Thanks to Ryan in the kitchen and chloe and stu out front! Can’t fault anything and thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Thanks guys!

Enjoyable meal, fully stocked carvery. Didn’t realise there was a 50% Black Friday deal which was a bonus! Kieran and Stuart were both really helpful and friendly.. slight downside was where we were sat, felt a bit in the middle of chaos.

Miserable and rude staff lemonade tasted moldy food was cold menu was disgusting we had to use hand sanitiser after touching a filthy menu and we mentioned the lemonade tasted funny we were told off the barmaid it was probably off yak won't ever go back

Lovely fresh roast, all good hot and nothing had been standing for long. The waitress Rosie was very friendly and approachable.

A lovely place to break my regular journey between Manchester and Stirling, good food and a nice atmosphere to relax. All the staff are lovely and caring. In particular Kieran is really helpful and took great care of my 81-year-old mum and advised her well on how the menu could accommodate her dietary needs. Ten out of ten to everyone!

We were served by Kieran and Rosie who were lovely,very chatty and helpful,we have dined here many times and Kieran and Rosie always goes out of their way to help. These two are an amazing pair who never fail to make us feel welcome I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Never make the mistake of going on a Sunday. Even though we booked a table, it was so busy we had to que for 15 mins to get our dinners. Quality of food average. Its better midweek when its quieter.

The roast beef was actually pretty good,but the Yorkshire pudding,were pretty flat and soggy and some of the vegetables were lukewarm,there were opened cardboard boxes left at the reception desk presumably for the Christmas decorations.overall…average

Popped in late Tuesday afternoon. Friendly service and nice food. Good value for money. This Toby seems to have improved recently.

Midweek early doors carvery, was as good as any other toby I've been to.

Dined there this evening after being turned away the previous evening as there was only enough meat for booked tables how can you possibly predict the meat being selected by the greedy sorts that frequent these establishments is beyond me! Whilst being greeted by the pink haired hobbit the drinks were served by a waitress that was obviously smuggling with a large jelly under her summer dress as that cake was twerking to its own tune 👀 which added to the atmosphere tremendously!

Not really sure how this went so wrong; undercooked sausages, overcooked everything else, dirty plates, dirty food area, cold food including eggs which I'm guessing shouldnt be left like that?, postmix drink tasted of cleaning agent - we wondered if maybe there'd been a staff night out the night before and everyone just came straight to work? Don't usually leave bad reviews but I couldn't let this one go 🤣

Totally disinterested staff not bothered if they serve you or not The whole place is very unkempt both at the front & back as for high standards in your reply a food standards agency rating 4 is not 5 which is the highest which all local competitors have

Sat here now trying to get the kids some breakfast. Absolutely shocking service, every member of staff that is working this morning need sent to a customer service workshop. The breakfast was empty for over half an hour, had to go and ask staff if they were putting any food out, ended up asking for a refund after 40 minutes. No apologies, no "we're extremely busy" nothing. I'm not surprised as the chef/cook whatever you want to call him looks like he's on another planet. I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here, I don't know whether it's been took over by new staff or what but this morning was absolutely shocking.

Decided to go for dinner there on a Sunday evening. Upon arrival there were customers walking out saying 'never again'. I wish we had taken that advice. The place was very tired but the waitresses were well mannered and seemed happy to help. The queue was so incredibly long it seemed unfair to be offering people seats to dine as no one should be waiting that long stood in a queue. The chefs seems very disorganised and all of the food was literally sub standard.The people infront of me were told there were no Yorkshire puddings left ans they would be 20 minutes. How can you make thay sort of statement in a place like this, why werent they put on sooner? I asked for the vegan option and the carvery chef asked me to repeat myself. I said may I have the vegan option and he said 'oh, veggie'. Let me tell you that a vegan person is not the same as a vegetarian. He handed me a different plate to everyone else like I was about to be served the vegan option that is on the menu. This was not given to me and I had absolutely no idea what foods were vegan as there are no labels on anything. I decided to go for some roast potatoes and cabbage. The carrots were very sad looking, like they had been sat in the steamer for far too long anyway but still served. The counter was an absolute mess. Granted it may have been busy but a busy restaurant does not give an excuse to not be clean and hygienic. The rest of the food looked so badly cooked that I was terribly put off what little food I had on my plate. I walked over to the gravy and there was no sign for vegan gravy. I would again have to assume whether it was vegan or not. The gravy counter was a terrible mess with gravy absolutely everywhere and the pots were all empty. The condiments were also all entirely empty. There are no amount of customers that should make a place run like this and it is a massive shame to see the chefs not doing the job they are there to do. I left my plate by the gravy counter and waited for my family to eat before reluctantly paying. The cooks need retraining. There are ways to cook food and times you need to discard food because it isn't up to standard and the time I was there everything was not up to standard. I was a chef before I turned vegan and I know exactly how a place such as this should be running and I can't believe they are charging nearly £15 for that atrocity. Absolutely filthy food counters, disorganised chefs and absolutely no signs regarding allergens. This place needs to watch out it doesn't make somebody ill. They could have done a better job and missed the mark by a long shot at every single step.

Toby needs to look at this place ASAP,while many empty tables we were shown a table for two so far away I thought I was outside,on trying to have the carvary the wait for chef to appear was to long so we sat down again,tried again and most of the food was lukewarm one toby we won't return to I'm afraid and don't forget to put your reg in at desk as no one told us to so nearly got a fine as well

We arrived very late having been stuck on the M6 for hours. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was hot and plentiful. It was exactly what we needed.

Normally come here for dinner thought we would try coming in for the bottomless breakfast and all I can say is I was very dissapointed never again, no bacon, cold sausages, luke warm baked beans, hash browns solid could break a window with one, eggs looked mouldy when asked we were told it was the coating on the pan the "chef" behind the counter had a big attitude problem towards my family when we asked for some white bread for toast and if there would be any more bacon I don't know what the problem was but we certainly will not be back any time soon.

Think it's picked up a bit lately roast potatoes lovely 🙂👍

We where with you on the 12 Oct 2024 and what a difference from 5 yrs ago . We where a table of 11 , and the you man that served our table was great Kyle l think his name was . Meal was good we had 9 carvery and 2 kids meals and sweets . Service was great and nothing was a bother to him a BIG thank you. Our experience was so good.

We have been a few times to toby at Carlisle and love everyone, staff are very friendly and food is fantastic. We enjoy it that much we travel from Scotland 🤣

Booked a table for 12 people, for a Saturday evening carvery dinner. We were quickly seated, had our drinks order taken and delivered. The carvery dinner was fabulous, lots of hot, fresh food available. Loads of choice. The kids even ate well! We were loud and cheerful and the staff were happy and cheerful, joining in with our giggles and laughter. A very pleasant evening, many thanks to our server Tyler.

Meh the food wasn’t great im not gonna lie first time at a toby carvery probably won’t go back made me appreciate my mums homemade roast much more. The staff were friendly but I couldn’t stay there long as the place had the heating on full blast and the hot carvery didn’t help either other than that can’t fault the staff I seen some reviews being blatantly rude about the workers there, I think some people are just miserable cnts tbh. They were lovely and trying their best

Kieran and Jax and the team are fantastic. Every time we visit the Carlisle restaurant they make us so welcome and they remember us every time and the make sure that they give us the best service they can . I would highly recommend them both and give a huge 5⭐️to them both well done Carlisle thank you Anna and family 😊

Only downfall was there was not enough gravy,apart from that arrived perfectly.

Excellent value for money. We ate here Sunday night and Monday morning breakfast. Sunday was extremely busy but everything was available and staff were attentive. Breakfast, first ones in at 8am and again all options available. Very happy 😁
