Would like to mention one member of the team i think his name is kieran( blondish hair) as everytime weve came he greets us with a smile and expecially today went above n beyond to make sure we wernt waiting any longer for our drinks after someone had forgot! He is a credit to your company and a asscet to your team.

Amazing service, great food, Rebecca was our server and she was very friendly, extremely helpful. Couldn't fault our experience

Very lovely atmosphere, Kieran (multicoloured hair!!) was amazing! He was very friendly and jokey, he was very helpful, food was very hot and tasted beautiful. Very clean and staff were always on hand to help.

Stopped here on the way home from Scotland for a meal. Had their carvery which was particularly excellent.

23 of us arrived unannounced. We were given a warm welcome and the food was delicious. Hats off to our server Aaron who was amazing

Understaffed, as a result queued to be seated then ordered our drinks waited 20 mins for them to come back and they never so we just left the queue for food was huge, might be ok if you have 2 hours of your day to waste in here

Food was hot. Altho when queued to our veg, was told we didn't need to but no one had told us this, when our plates was put down and all was said go and get what vegetables you want. Also service was a very hit miss, very hard to get staffs attention when needed, found some staff to be short with us while others just couldn't be bothered. Both pie and parcels were more pastry with very little filling.

Will never go back not a good breakfast everything was cold and things were sat in grease and needed refreshed as there was no staff on buffet checking

When I got there at 8:30 they weren't doing food and closing up. I guess key workers are thrown down the drain 😕

Came for my birthday, had a lovely carvey, everything was perfect, our waitress put a candle on my desert which was lovely. Very good value for money.

The quality of the food fell far below expectations. The meal I received was characterised by cold, dry dishes, alongside overcooked meat and shrivelled vegetables. Such below average is unacceptable, particularly for a Sunday roast at a renowned establishment like Toby Carvery. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the gravy. However, it is disheartening that this was the sole highlight, overshadowed by the disappointment of the main components. Additionally, I was dismayed by the state of the toilet facilities. Two toilets were unflushed, and there was a lack of toilet paper. The overall cleanliness was severely lacking, with grimy skirting boards and flooring adding to the unsanitary conditions. As a paying customer, I expect a certain standard of quality and cleanliness when dining out, both of which were sorely lacking during my visit to Toby Carvery. I am deeply disappointed by the overall experience and would not recommend your establishment to others. Pay an extra £2.00 and go somewhere that is decent.

Called in without a booking and the lady squessed us in. The food was beautiful with a very warm welcome.

If i could give zero for food and the chief i would .The food was tasteless the veg was bland and over watery the roast potatos were very burnt and the veg was not stocked up regular so not enough to go round the meat was fatty and dont bother paying for a large plate as you just get scraps and same amount as a small plate and told out of 4 meats you can only have 3 i been going here for years twice a week some times but never again its gone down the food is dredful now and omg the trying to enjoy your experoence here with a misserable dirty dressed cheif was hard he even swiped his wet sweaty forehead with his hand with no glove then run his fingers through his dirty greesy hair and then picked my plate up without washing his hands

Service and food was very good.

Booked in advance which is a must on a Sunday as it was extremely busy. Staff were attentive and managed the number of people well. Service was ok given the fact it was so busy. Food was as you would expect of a carvery - you get what you pay for - a standard Sunday roast but I was surprised the meat was as nice as it was. A no frills nice meal with family.

I'm so excited to brag on their behalf here, I now go weekly with my dad and as a disabled person unable to walk in a electricwheelchair they are more than accommodating. moving barriers and offering extra help when needed to get around or just checking up on us! its helped me feel less stuck with options as many older buildings in Carlisle struggle to adapt for wheelchair acess. I have they keep up the good work!

Well it's been 5 years since we last visited, and I am glad to say that things are a lot better, good hot food, really nice meal. Only downside was a long queue at the carvery, but worth the wait.

Kieran made this trip 10/10 with his custom “happy Sunday song”. Thanks for great food and a great evening! More people like you are needed!!

Came for a meal with a friend, was served by Tyler and he was amazing, super friendly and couldn't of been more helpful! Very polite to! 5* employee 😊

Loved it. We had a veggie carvery and a meaty carvery, both really nice and great value for money, plus the staff were terrific too.

Great service and all rounder by the server Tyler. Food was on par especially with the massive Yorkshire puddings and the server was helpful with wrapping away to take away.

All you can eat breakfast :) Enough said.

My best friend was getting married in Gretna so drove down to the carvery and ate here as it was cheaper than our hotel, this was the first time I had ever been to a carvery so I went a little bit doo lally with the roast and mashed tatties and gravy, I have to say that the beef was so succulent, I've only tasted beef as good before and that was in France, I have visited on several occasions since then

Went to tobys for lunch Staff were fine and friendly. When we went for food the yorkshire puddings were cold as were the peas and carrots. I had the vegetarian gravy which was cold. I have not been here for a couple of years and can honestly say the place has gone down hill. The toilets were dusty also. I expected better from toby. One good thing is that this particular tobys allows well behaved dogs in the bar. I would go back and give it another chance as it is still a good price.

Was saddened to find that "doggy bag" boxes are no longer allowed. Can't imagine that does much to reduce food waste

So we arrived for lunch was greeted by a young lad. He was very friendly and courtious. We then sat down took our drinks order and proceedes to the Carvery. Waited 10 minutes for a lady to serve us. Her disposition and persona was very awkward. Didn't seem happy at all to serve. Was then given strands of meat. Very skinny with the meat. Was going to serve us lamb off the bone which needed replacing had to ask for a new joint and she wasn't very happy about this. Food was actually quite satisfactory. They need a undercover boss to come in and survey some of there staff. Won't be coming again. We visited Cumbria for a relaxing stay and wanted something homely .. Wouldny really reccomend. Thanks

We had a lovely meal everything was hot and we were seen to very quickly by our server Tyler. For a big table he delivered extremely quick service. A very polite server Would come back again.

Food was beautiful. Carvery was haphazard though No Yorkshire puddings till halfway through our meal Carvery station messy. No signs on the gravy so ended up with the wrong type. Staff looked a little all over the place. No uniform and clothes worn were quite unprofessional. ( simple black T-shirt and trousers with an apron would’ve looked so much better and let you know who was working )

Every single time that you can't finish your food and ask for a takeaway box, it is never given from here at carlisle. (Never had an issue with every other Toby) The manager will not allow it. 3 times now!. They would much rather see good valuable food go in the bin, not everyone can eat food in 1 sitting (medically unable) its nearly £14 for a small/standard plate so why would anyone paying that much not be allowed to take whats left on their plate (its paid for already) the place has take away boxes but only give these to anyone having a take away meal! Food is ok and edible. Just take a container if you may have any leftovers. The staff are nice enough, although fearful of the manager. The drinks appear to be on the high side of pricing. Will go back if just passing and have a spare containter, lol 😆. The manager replied to this comment. However, she forgot to mention that even when ordering from the main menu (implied folk overfill their plates), the policy for a takeaway box was still not available! Again, paying for your food and promoting waste. This no takeaway box has only ever been a problem at the Carlisle toby carvery. I've never had any problems anywhere else for a doggie bag. Which also heightlights the policy she quotes as being "company policy" is rubbish! As mentioned, the staff are fearful. It maybe she,s unable to see around or outside "the takeaway box" and to be honest a small charge for a doggie bag or box wouldn't be unreasonable, would it!

The waiter stood with his hands in his pocket while taking our order then forgot some of it. We were halfway through our meal before the drinks arrived. The chef was surly, couldn't understand him and very small portions of the end if the joint. No one cleared our plates and we had to ask for someone to take our dessert order. After 15 mins wait we still hadn't received it and had to leave without it as we had a show to see. Very Very disappointed

Staff very helpful and polite. Friendly atmosphere which is no surprise as Carlisle folk are really kind. The carvery was very nice although the parsnips were undercooked and the savoy cabbage had ran out and the white cabbage was no substitute . Desserts were amazing ! Would go back👍🏻

Great location in Carlisle, easy to pop in for a yummy lunch, before a spot of shopping. Fantastic clean restaurant / pub with clean toilets, friendly & helpful servers & staff & excellent food & drink with a good variety of vegan options for dietary / allergy requirements. We both thoroughly enjoyed a carvery meal with lots of variety of meat and vegetable choices, so many delicious trimmings and sauces on offer. Great prices & regular great savings on offer with deals throughout the year & a helpful points loyalty app which is a great idea. We took advantage of the half price on main meals offer during January, fantastic, even better value for a lovely meal. The only feedback I would share is regarding their vegetarian gravy. My husband is vegan and our youngest has a dairy intolerance. There are lots of helpful ingredients listed online, however Customer services have had to further clarify for us, that the vegetarian gravy at the Carlisle restaurant is actually suitable for vegans although it is labelled as only suitable for vegetarians. Unclear labelling on certain things which makes it difficult for those with dietary/allergy requirements and I believe each restaurant is different which can make it confusing when we visit different Toby Carvery restaurants. We were very impressed overall and we will be visiting the Carlisle restaurant again.

Excellent value for money plenty of choice with vegetables and meat

Amazing good, cooked perfectly. Great service from staff, kind and friendly faces. I liked I wasn’t interrupted much during my deal and that I was allowed to enjoy the food for what it was.

The service was good, no complaints there. However, the food was a little disappointing. The pork was quite dry and there wasn't a very wide choice of vegetables. Carrots & peas were all there was when there's usually broccoli, parsnips and/or cauliflower. I just found it a bit limited.

As per usual it was fantastic our waitress Becca was fantastic she went above and beyond as a disabled ladies I found it amazing

Yet another delicious family meal at Toby Carlisle today. The host Stu was very cheerful and helpful. Kieran our server was always on hand to assist. The food was so appetisong and tasty all of us ate every bit, but still saved room for some of their amazing ice cream. We will be back, soon!

Usually a very good carvery However it on this occasion proved the worst carvery I have ever suffered Meat ok Veg poor and uncooked Potatoes usually a treat more like Scrambled eggs and abysmally Service good Requires a CHEF

Brilliant from start to finish, staff made us feel very welcome, the food was really nice and the atmosphere was very relaxed, a credit to themselves.

arrived on Friday 26.01.24 served meat very good went to get veg oh my god no roast potatoes had to ask for some hardly any veg looked like it had been there for hours empty bowls little bits off veg in some nothing in others...

Excellent food and very quick service

On entering we were told there was no turkey available, which was ok. Then when we got to the carvery there was only Gammon available. The slither of Fammon we were given was tiny and mostly fat. Not a great experience.

The food was lovely, well cooked meat that was tender & a decent portion.

This was a last minute plan as we had decided to go to the cinema then the 50 percent off mains email came through so decided to go out to Toby for our dinner. There seemed to be a lot of new staff or some I have not noticed before but what a lovely pleasant bunch of young people you had working there during our visit. A pleasant and polite young man greeted us and showed us to our table and took our drinks order. Within seconds an equally pleasant young lady came to check if we wanted menus or the carvery . There was a queue for the carvery but it was soon despatched by the young lady carving the meat, decent size portions too and all the veg piping hot. An all round pleasant evening out. Will be going again in the not to distant future.

Food is always delicious and moreish. Really friendly staff, enjoy going there for my roasts.
