And so, on a blustery Saturday afternoon we venture into the 28th President of the good old US of A. A Nobel peace prize winning leader who led his country at the outbreak of World War 1, the Great War. Which is ironically what it’s like trying to get served in the Woodrow at 3PM on a Saturday. Getting to the bar took a two pronged attack, with wingman approaching from the east flank giving cover to the nose attack taking on the central ground. It was hard going, particularly for two cokes and a packet of McCoys. But we got there unwounded and with pride relatively intact.

Great place to go for a quick lunch, friendly, good food and fast service.

Great breakfast as always. Good value for money. The bacon is always good! My only complaint this time would be that there were no muffins available so we couldn't get the breakfast muffin deal. Full English was still very good though and you can't beat the refillable tea and coffee!

Great night out in a socially conducive atmosphere. No loud music or other distractions. Plus, booze at a great price. Gotta love the spoons!!

Went in after night shift for breakfast, food was lovely, didn't have to wait long a nice chilled out hour

Using the app for service seems to be the best way to get food and drink served. The app is easy enough to use

The food was okay, I bought a burger and chips and onion rings, the onion rings were amazing but the chips and burger were very average. My burger bun was burnt black so the whole burger tasted funny. I will definitely stick to burger king in future for my burgers but I will go back and try something else, the prices are very good and those onion rings were absolutely cracking!

Yet again people were vaping and not one staff member said a thing. The worst part though is I'm now on oxygen, which is extremely flammable. The place could have blown up any second due to the incompetence of the staff .I didn't know these people were vaping till I got home and was told by my friend. I or my friends should not have to do the job of the staff. This is the third time I have commented about vapers.

We have a family gathering every two weeks. Food,drink and air our grievances We love Spoons.

Come up to see friends and we decided to meet at this Wetherspoons bar. Was all going ok then I noticed on the first night a lot of people (especially older) complaining that their heads on their beers were huge but would not complain. Me and my partner had ordered on several occasions a shipyard. And every single pint had a massive head of froth. Eventually we asked that Shipyard was allowed to settle before completing pour. On returning the next day to see our friends off we ordered another round and the heads on the beer were huge. I asked on several occasions to let it settle and shipyard is like Guinness you have to let it settle for a good pint. It is not rocket science but just lazy After being refused to top up the pint from the shift leader whose knowledge of good hospitality seems very poor I asked for a refund. Also they might not pour the beer refunds down the sink but wait to server to the next customer. We were personally served two pints which were all ready poured and served from below the counter. Eventually we left with beer wasted for a refund rather than a top up. Said final pint along with Brewers association guidelines shown below. (Pa shift supervisor was advised picture was being taken before refund requested) The British Beer & Pub Association guidelines state. ‘ 3. Request from customers for top-up should be received with Grace and never refused, subject to avoiding spillage of liquid.’ But obviously do not apply here.

Usually this place is fine, but since when did Wetherspoons do quiz nights? Cackling women at 200db finished it for me.

Busy pub. Variety of clientele. Friendly staff. Good price for food and drinks.

Good service, good food,plenty of space

A great Spoons and 1st among equals. The food is as great as is the service.Its usually busy on an evening but more so on weekends. Highly recommended like the Williams Rufus 'Spoons further up the road.

Food okay apart from a dire bangers and mash!

A quick bite whilst on a training course nearby. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It appeared busy for a Monday lunchtime with a number of groups of people having a good catch-up. All the facilities were downstairs, including the accessible toilet. Accessible entrance. There was an outside space to the rear for the brave. It was a tad chilly today. You can order on the app if you want your meal exactly as on the menu. If not, order at the bar, and don't forget to take a quick pick of the table number. The expected cheap and basic Wetherspoons food, but our Cheese and Bacon Loaded Chips were such a disappoint. It was more like a sprinkle than loaded, not enough to even taste.

Prefer Woodrow Wilson to Lloyd's in Carlisle. Quieter and better seating. More booths. Food and drink is always the same standard

Visited with a friend, both had a Mixed Grill with a Dark Fruits Cider, by far best Spoons meal I’ve had, blown away at quality of both meals and the service was fantastic, very friendly and welcoming, we will be back.

There's loads of seating with plenty of space. The pub was well maintained and had a nice feeling about it. There's the normal good Wethersfield menu with something for everyone. Service was quick, and the food was nice and hot. Gets pretty busy but seems to be quieter than the one just up the street.

I used to come often but both the service and the food have gone down hill as other reviewers have mentioned;; If you want a good wetherspoons, go up the road and try "The William Rufus"; it is the same chain but I find the service and the food better;

Always a great option on a budget

Had a breakfast wrap here before going shopping, it was good but most importantly it was hot.

If you want a cheap pint it's great. Food is not so good. Dirty tables and they run out of dishes well before the closing time. Went down him since the manager changed.

Very disappointing. Was previously good, but food, 10oz gammon and chips, poor quality and cold! and halloumi roast veg salad very small with raw onion. What's gone wrong?

Nice place to relax and have a few swalies

Very, very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Only one person pulling pints for a good five minutes, then help appeared. Got the queue down fairly fast then. App was problematic trying to order food, so back to the bar to a bigger queue... and that was with 3 or 4 serving. Food arrived in half the time I queued to order! Delicious as well!!! Super tasty & super hot. Price wise it's great, thus so busy!!!

You get a consistent experience

I guess not all wetherspoons are the same. I visited here last night and the food was not good at all. The over cooked dry burger was served with the wrong sauce and the burgers themselves were smaller than the ones usually served in a wetherspoons and more grisly, very poor quality. I thought wetherspoons served the same food in all of its pubs.

Very busy when we called in for a few beers. The staff were really good and quick to serve our drinks. Not always the case in other Wetherspoons venues we have been in.

Terrible.only 2 staff on bar and 1 was awol.took me 20 minutes to get 1 pint of bud light.absolutely ridiculous when the place is massive and extremely busy.

Had the beef burger burnt to a cinder chips over done everything was really dry, it’s saving grace the pint was ok.

28 min wait for 4 drinks , given 10 minutes after our food was served and 2 out of 4 of us had finished.... get a grip of your staff and timing even if you are "just a wetherspoons" Staff were not concerned either..... no respect these days

Standard Wetherspoons experience. A go to place for decent food and service at an affordable price. Funny that there are two Wetherspoons with a block of each other in Carlisle. Maybe not funny in that they were both doing a brisk business in the early afternoon that we were there.

They seem to have gone down hill in a big way. Yesterday I had the Gammon, turned up half cold, tonight steak night, really lacking, staff aren't bothered with any queries, tables looking unclean with empty plates, glasses etc leftcstrewn about, the place might be busy but it has been the same for both days. I was the first to say good things about the Brand, but this place and probably others needs a good shake up!

I'd give the Woodrow Wilson a 3.8 out of 5. The atmosphere is better than the William Rufus just down the street. Both crowded. Plenty of brews to choose from.

Very busy when we visited but a good atmosphere as is usual in most 'Spoons' I've drank & ate in. Served at the bar quite quickly then at the table for drinks & food equally so. Plenty of choices on the menu. An added bonus was the toilets on the ground floor! First time ever!! We enjoyed our evening and stayed put instead of touring other bars.

Staff appalling, contemptuous manner. Obviously poorly trained and oblivious in their responsibility towards customers. Not good for business, will not be using again.

Stopped in for breakfast and it was freshly cooked, served quickly and most enjoyable! Friendly barmaid and very helpful with the coffee machines! Will definitely return!

Busy pub for Monday night. Real ale not great condition & tables not very clean.

Got one food order wrong, sorted but not greatly improved. This Wetherspoon's looks tired and grubby. There was vomit at the first table we were directed to, so moved to a different table. I won't rush back to this place.

Usual but good Wetherspoons experience food was to usual for the price its always good little disappointed with just one mushroom on the plate with a steak etc but was pleasant enough to fill my hungry self. Excellent table service as always and a very clean and well-kept pub.

A quality Spoon with a great selection of real ales all the time..

Very busy place, not enough staff. waited over half an hour for a drink, and they had to take down the table ordering service as they couldn't keep up with the demand. Bar was 6 deep. Shame as its a nice bar otherwise

A well kept beer selection allows a refreshing choice of real ale, while the basic food menue covers an interesting range. Table service is usually with a smile 😃

Came for a day out and as always spoons didn't disappoint

Very good food but the atmosphere needs to be worked on. It was a crowded weekend. Tables were left uncleared and unclean. The service at the counter was slow , it was a long wait. This place is not advisable for people on a business road trip trying to get a quick meal or drinks. But if you're patient enough, the food is marvelous.

Great idea if you have been on the train as it is very close to the station. I would recommend the English Breakfast if you go in the morning.

Every time we come to this pub the manager in his wisdom knocks off the app for ordering at your table , When asked he couldn’t give me a answer only to say order at bar , What’s the point having a app if you can’t use it , Will not return till this stupid issue is sorted or better still replace manager and get one that understands there customers needs a bit better. Not a happy bunny 😳😳

I visited this Carlisle weatherspoons on Saturday 18th December 2021 This pub served an excellent choice of handpumped ales at fantastic prices This is a spacious, clean, friendly place to visit when I was here Staff polite and good at their jobs pub busy and chilled out I would use this place again when in Carlisle Saturday 20th May 2023 We again visited this great weatherspoons, it is exactly the same situation as before, so 5 stars is kept

Without doubt the cleanest and well-presented Wetherspoon I've been in! Great service, tables swiftly cleared/ cleaned and attention to detail. We had traditional cooked breakfast this morning and it was perfectly cooked and delivered by a cheerful gentleman. Well done all!
