Hogs Head Brew House in Calderdale

Got 3 flat pints, absolutely no head on any on any of the drinks. Very rude door staff. Not returning anytime soon……………..

Endless amount of flat pints, kids behind the bar don’t know what they’re doing. One of the managers saying that their cider is hit and miss. Randomly deciding during the day on a saturday that they aren’t letting “chavs” in (according to the bouncer) anymore. Can’t hear yourself over the numerous barking dogs they don’t seem to care about. So seems it wants to be the finest place for an expensive pint in a town with nothing going on and won’t let in its regulars for being in sports gear during the day. Don’t bother letting anybody know. Just make up new policies as you go along and refuse entry. Just lost a few regular customers you don’t care about. More bothered about their profits.

We call in on a regular basis for drinks but we had to leave because the pub were having a ticket only party on New Year's Eve, talk about alienating they're regulars, we won't be calling in again

If you like cask ale, make sure you don't miss this place. It's a comfortable welcoming environment. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I tried several of the cask ales:) They were in excellent condition, fresh and full of flavour. Prices were very reasonable. My wife informed me that the wines were also good!

Sadly we didn't even make it inside the Hogs Head, as when we tried to visit on Bank Holiday Sunday, the bouncer was grappling with a youngish looking lad who was spitting on him. I'm sure inside is lovely, but this really put me off and I won't be visiting again. Outside matters as much as inside, and a bouncer being spat on is too much I'm sorry.

After a trip to another cask ale venue in Sowerby Bridge which was disappointing, wandered down to the hogs head. Worlds apart, staff were friendly and the whole venue felt welcoming, Following and average pint in the previous place the cask here is great. Worth a visit

Fantastic atmosphere, great range of drinks and attentive staff. Can't be faulted. The place was busy for early on a Thursday evening and gave the impression of being a very popular establishment.

I visited the Hogs Head Brew House a couple of weeks ago (and will be returning this coming weekend) and was delighted with the experience. The place itself is RIGHT up my alley. Rustic, spacious and lovely, and with tons of options at the bar for those seeking a tasty craft pint. Prices are reasonable, and it is definitely one of those places I will return to again and again. Fantastic. Keep up the good work, guys!

Had a beer that didnt taste to great, spoke to the manager and he was pretty rude and cocky. Not a great expierience wont be going again.

Great place, friendly staff, great beer brewed on site and very reasonable prices. Found this gem on a drive out. Gutted I had to limit myself to just the one pint of bitter. Gonna be coming back for a car free night and trying out some more of their delightful fare.

Such a delightful bar, great beer brewed on-site, superb ambience and super friendly staff. Large selection of different beers for all tastes.

Really love this place and hadn't been since before the first ever lockdown. Sat inside were it was well spaced out and mostly empty. We ordered soft drinks as we were all driving and just friends meeting up. Drinks were ordered and paid for at the table and came over promptly. When we nearly finished our drinks the bar man came over to ask if we wanted more drinks. We said we were OK. He still came over a few more times. If the place was busy I would assume he needed the table but it was quiet. Maybe he just wanted the sales. We just wanted to relax and catch up. If we planned to stay longer we would have got another drink but we were only there 1-1 1\2 hours. Yes we made that drink last. We aren't cheap, just friends who hadn't seen each other for a long time and chatted more than drank. Maybe the bar man should have asked once and said, "if you need any more drinks signal me over" after we said we are OK. Otherwise, this place is still great and I'm sure I will be back and not drinking pop and keeping the barman busy.

This was my first visit to this establishment which was very clean as were the toilets. The barman explained to me the various types of ale available and tasters. The staff were very knowledgeable with eye contact and plenty of smiles. Sadly this pub did not do food, I asked Vicky for a recommendation, which she did and on asking for directions she went with us out of the pub and pointed us in the right direction. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Been to this pub quite a lot over the last couple of years and have always been impressed with the service and the beer. Of late the beer is not quite as good as normal and we were confronted by possibly the rudest doorman in Halifax. Something must have changed. New owners maybe ?

This is a great pub, with own brewed rwal ales. Sadly let down by allowing dogs in. An odd dog is usually ok, but often get several dogs, often barking. I and my friends usually go elsewhere when this happens.

Love this pub so warm and welcoming beer is lovey and just an overall chilled atmosphere we like to go here before we go out for tea defintly worth a visit

Was disgusted to visit the hogs head to be greeted by a dog sat on the table licking its balls and drinking out of its owner's pint, while one of the owners wives was flitting about glass collecting.

The Hogs Head is a fabulous drinking establishment. it does indeed supply some noteworthy ales of their own making and very lovely guest beers plus a fabulous choice of gins and mixers, the bar is well stocked with any drink your heart desires.

A lively vibrant rustic inn with real ales and real hogs heads on the walls did sample the hogs head real ale very smooth and creamy lots to choose from on blackboard very busy on Sat nights good atmosphere tables a little large for talking....

Read the blackboard, make your choice (many local, some brewed on-site), pay your money and sit or stand, and read the blackboard again whilst enjoying your first drink. My kind of place.

The welcome you get at the Hogs Head really depends on when you visit.

This is a great bar where its own beers take centre stage offering a wide variety of styles and strengths. There is also a good selection of lagers,ciders and spirits.

This is a fabulous bar, the selection of ales is second to none. Some are brewed on the premises. They also have a great selection of Gins. The staff are very pleasant, I will definitely be returning.

I popped in here with my wife and her sister for a drink after a long day travelling. The barmaid was first class. I was greeted with a warm smile and my wife was given the gin menu. She was happy to discuss flavours and help with choice of mixers.

Visited here and was pleasantly surprised by both the selection and quality of the ales on offer. 4 own brewed ales plus another half dozen real ales were a great attraction. On top of that several draft craft beers were on offer which I didn't get chance to sample. Highly recommend this pub.

Real ale brewed on the premises in an old warehouse close to the marina. Good home produced beer plus great guest ales. A must for the real ale drinker.

Our family had drinks in the Hogs Head prior to eating at a nearby restaurant so it was extremely handy. The management arranged for a reserved table as my sister has mobility problems and being a Saturday night the chances of getting seats could have been problematic. A quick chat with management, a reserved table/seating alleviated this. The venue is full of atmosphere and even though it did get rowdy it didn't detract from the evening. The men in the party loved the selection of beers on offer.

I have previously visited the Hogs Head many a time and been delighted with the pub itself. But, my god when I visited the pub on Sunday I left in complete shock.

Popped in here for a drink, it was really nice, very clean, spacious, warm and cosy with a certain charm.

What a joy, not only some great real ales served by good staff but to top it off some of the ale is brewed on premises, and really nice quality beer!

Visited this venue numerous times and never been disappointed the ales are brewed on site and are always top class its a large area but has a relaxing atmosphere the selection of drinks is huge with lagers wines ciders and craft ales also a large choice of spirits I will be back there soon and cant wait to taste the latest ales,they don't serve food yet but am informed its in the pipeline all the best to the staff who are competent and friendly,well don't take my word for it try it you wont be disappointed.

The Hogs Head Brewhouse in my opinion is the best pub in Sowerby Bridge,i attend every Saturday and enjoy the great company of my friends,the bar staff are the best and know how to pull a great pint of which six real ales are brewed on site as well as ever changing guest beers ,the wine cellar is well stocked and a selection is good.lagers and ciders are also served,if you get the munchies you can get award winning pork pies and sundries from the bar, the background music is not too loud ,a great place to drop in for a drink and great surroundings.Try it you wont be disappointed.

Yes this place really is simply the best in Sowerby Bridge with a wonderful and large selection of beers, most of which are brewed on site the prices are really good value and this venue has been tastefully furnished with plenty of seating areas sofas and just incredibly cosy with a large log burning fire, The Hogs Head is also very dog friendly and this is our favourite meeting and social venue, it will take some beating since this place has just got it all, friendly staff, great value, great beer and what more could we ask for?

We visited to sample the locally brewed ales, wasn't disappointed. Great selection, many made on the premises. Old Schnozzler was a favourite, but quite strong, so maybe drink in half pints.

Lots of choice to go from and really good atmosphere inside. Nice big area so lots of places to get a seat too.

Very good selection of beers for real ale drinkers plus lots of more unusual bottled beers and decent draught lager including Moretti (lager drinkers like me sometimes aren't very well catered for in proper real ale pubs)! Although its a big open bar and seating area, it manages to keep a nice atmosphere and is usually busy with drinkers. A great addition to Sowerby Bridge :)

Went on Christmas eve about 5.00pm and after a meal late on New Years eve, on both occasions the atmosphere was very good.

Called in here as part of our, well reported, Real Ale pub crawl to Sowerby Bridge. This was my personal favourite . Can't comment about food, but the beer was excellent and the atmosphere was great. It is basically one large room, but with a great 'old mill' feel. I love anywhere with its own on-site brewery and this hit the spot. There is an interesting cellar view through a Perspex screen in the floor which adds to the atmosphere.

Large space recently renovated. Its a brewery that also has a pub. Not sure if it serves food. Great selection of beers at a reasonable price. There were hardly any people in when we visited one afternoon.
