Hideaway Restaurant in East Devon

The food at The Butchers Block is fresh, yummy and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend! There is a wide variety to chose from including vegetarian options and healthier options too.

Great place good portions of fresh cooked food I had the fish and chips it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the seabass it was wonderful we had breakfast there it was massive and great value

OMG. This place is bizarre. There is absolutely nothing that resembles the website or other photos. There is no tempting meat dishes, I had the only steak option and it was worse than a Harvester. Mrs had Gammon which we sent back. Service was shocking. There is no atmosphere or any sense this is a restaurant. Serious doubts that the other reviews are genuine. AVOID!!! The actual menu below. Not real a Butchers delight!!!

The best Sunday roast I have ever had came with two meat joints with all trimming couldn’t fault it can’t wait to go again in the week to try the rest of the menu. Amazing a must if you like food

A group of 9 ladies came here for lunch - which had to be pre-ordered. There was no-one else at the restaurant so we felt rather on show. We had to wait ages for the food we had ordered and when it came the portions were rather small, uninspiring, and disappointing. Considering there is a lot of competition locally we were all surprised that it wasn't of a better standard.

Beautiful tasty meal which was good quality , lovely place and good friendly service . Will be going again .

Second visit and another great meal. Clever menu with some dishes I have not seen anywhere else. Food is terrific and portions are huge!!!! Restaurant is a little bit out of the way but make an effort to drive out here,you wont be disapointed.

Arrived for lunch but there was no one to be seen. Eventually, we had someone take our order, the food didn't take too long but once finished we waited what seemed forever for someone to appear so we could get the bill. Another person then gave us our bill then disappeared. Almost felt we were in someone's house and they'd gone out. Strange setup and very awkward. The food was nice but the venue wasn't welcoming.

Had a fab meal with my husband, daughter and partner. Had a free cocktail on arrival, great main courses and a free sharing pudding. Brilliant food, great service and a fantastic selection of gins

Service was amazing! It’s in a lovely location.... The food is out of this world, Henry the chef, his food is the best I’ve had in a long time! would definitely recommend and the prices are worth it!

Went to the butchers block for the first time for lunch today with my wife. It was lovely! Amazing atmosphere and where the restaurant is located is beautiful. Terrific service and the food was devious. Lot's of a variety lunch time menu and there specials! Can't wait to go back soon. Also there is out door seating area so can't wait till the summer! Would recommend the burger or the toasted club chicken sandwich! YUM

Pre-ordered food and everything was brought out on time and hot. Menu was very nice and presented well. Starter portions are massive, but all very good. Catered for one of our party who was gluten free. Would recommend.

Food was excellent. We went for the Surf and turf as a main and the mushrooms to start. Mushrooms were sliced portobello. Each sliced individually deep fried, served up in a small metal basket with a side of a very tasty garlic dip. The main was giant prawns cooked in a garlic butt, sat alongside a perfectly cooked sirlion steak served with sweet potato fries and side salad. The sweets looked fantastic, but we were so full from the meal we just went for coffes

We recently stayed at Cranberries and have posted on their Hotel site, the food and service were top class, would definitely recommend

The food is excellent and very reasonably priced however my favourite by far is the fact they have a Gin bar! Every Gin you can imagine and with a room for the night no worries on getting home! This is a hidden Gem!
