Wow we went as a family of 5 and we ate first then played 10 pin bowls. The staff were so friendly and the service was really quick. We all ate different meals and they were all spot on. Decent sized portions and hot! Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again. Thank you so much.

It's been a while since we were here last but the food was just as good as previously. There is an extensive menu given the size of the place and I really like that all 8 of us were served with hot food at the same time even though we all had different meals. It's good value and made our evening out bowling even more special. We have booked to go again in March!

Lovely lovely staff. Food served really quickly even though it was quite busy. Pretty disappointed with the food. I had Spinach, Pepper and Cream Cheese and Tomato Tarts and Chips. I thought it would be more like quiche but if was two little tart cases with the spinach and cream cheese in. Didn't taste amazing either so I left most of it. Chips were lovely though. I was with two friends who had baguettes and chips and they said they were great.

Went last week for works Christmas party. 3 course meal followed by 10pin bowling. Usually when a company is catering for multiple big parties at the same time the food is mediocre at best. But the hickory stick totally pulled it out of the bag! The food was absolutely delicious, hot, very tasty, plentiful, fresh - i really couldn't fault any of it. Will certainly be back soon. Works Christmas lunch was top notch. So many Christmas lunches out are often a bit underwhelming but this place did a really great job. Lots of us to serve all at once too. Staff friendly and efficient, portions huge, roast potatoes and parsnips hot and crispy and all other veg perfectly cooked. Extra gravy too. Well done to all the staff.

We had a really lovely meal here on my birthday. We played 10 pin bowling first and then enjoyed a first class meal in the restaurant. Everything was excellent. We had a variety of dishes from vegetarian to children’s to delicious local lamb. We all enjoyed our food which was not only delicious but was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we decided to visit the Hickory Stick for an evening meal during the week and I'm so glad we did - the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the food was great. I'm vegetarian and sometimes find that even a vegetarian menu does not appeal. However the choices were just perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be visiting again. I do believe we have also found the venue for our Christmas get together.

Well, what can we say, went on Sunday for lunch with our daughters and their families including a 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 yr old grandsons. The meal was wonderful as usual at the Grove and the service was excellent including catering for a young one with a dairy allergy. Nothing was too much trouble, we will certainly continue to be regular customers. Well done team!!

The staff go above and beyond to help, especially Adam and Zara. From the planning to the day they were kind and helpful. The food, a mix of chilled baguettes and hot pizza, baguettes, nachos etc was excellent. Very good tasting food at sensible prices, presented very nicely. The bowling was fun and despite the venue being very busy everything went well.

We went for Sunday lunch on 8th May, first time for over a couple of years as we’ve only recently started to venture out again as I’m on the ‘vulnerable’ list. We were really pleased with the meal, so much so we enjoyed three lovely courses. We will definitely be back as we found the quality of the food, staff and service outstanding. Well done team!

We thoroughly enjoyed a recent Sunday lunch celebrating a birthday. We were a party of fifteen including six youngish children. The menu was varied and the food first class with a menu for children and promptly served without being rushed. It must be one of the best value eateries in the area as prices everywhere seem to be a lot higher.

This venue came highly recommended and has been a favourite for Christmas parties etc so booked it for Dads 70th . 68 guests were entertained , fed and watered above and beyond what was expected . The food was excellent as was the wine and the service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were fantastic . In all, the day was a wonderful success and many happy memories were made. Thank you all at the Hickory Stick for a most wonderful afternoon. Highly recommended.

Visited on Sunday 7th November. We had booked and when we got there found the seating very close to other guests dining there. I'm sure they could have arranged things better. I guess we were unlucky, we got somebody new working there who got our drinks order mixed up. Overall the meals were good which is the main thing.

Good standard of a Sunday roast. Nothing special but much better than you’re sometimes served elsewhere. Slow to be seated after arrival time prompt to booking but it was very busy. Not anywhere to wait, especially with elderly who can’t stand for long.

Just had lunch at the Hickory Stick, Very cosy. Lovely warm fire. There was an excellent menu as well as a Specials Board. The food was excellent and the service first class. Very nice roast lunch and the desert was excellent.

Visited with family / friends for lunch & having in the past not been over impressed I have to say it was very good this time. On top of the extensive bar type menu there was a good choice of specials. We opted for the roast pork & lamb. Both were cooked perfectly with a nice selection of fresh veg on the side. It’s good that you can now choose to have mixed veg or peas with all of the meals and there are various options for potatoes too. 18 months ago the menu was more rigid & I am pleased it has been updated - it definitely so much better! My dad had lovely scampi & chips too

I book a table at the Hickory Stick for the family side of celebrations for my birthday most years.

We ave eaten here on several occasions, both for large family gatherings and also smaller family Sunday lunch meals. The food is always good and the staff are friendly and happy to accommodate reasonable requests.

This is an exquisite restaurant with a delightful atmosphere and friendly staff who are always ready and pleased to help, making sure that every visitor is comfortable, and happy with the service. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is prepared to perfection, and there is a great selection of starters, main meals and desserts. There is a great selection of wines and other beverages to go with your meal, and they also do a great coffee too. I went for the day out to this fabulous place with family, and would definitely go again.

I have heard lots of people praising this place and don't know why I haven't been before. It was a lovely meal from start to finish! There were 11 of us from 8-80 years old and we all found something different to eat. Such a wide choice and we will definitely be back again. The service was good and it was so convenient with the bowling alley attached. A wonderful family evening.

Attended our granddaughter’s birthday bowling party on Sunday 9th December and adjacent to the bowling alleys is a restaurant the ‘Hickory Stick’. We unexpectantly noticed Sunday roast was on the menu so we asked if a table for three was available and we were lucky enough to be obliged with a table. The old world barn ambience was very comfortable, attractive and it was very busy so we were lucky to be accommodated at short notice!

We booked this as an excellent looking location central for family and we weren’t disappointed. From arrival to departure for our Sunday lunch we were treated exceptionally well. The Menu was well priced, clear and lots of choice. In fact we all said that we could have ordered everything.

We had our work Christmas party here and was pleasantly surprised ,haven’t eaten here so didn’t know what to expect but the food was really good the service was fast and they dealt with the pressure of a busy eve really well also the bar man that eve was very helpful and friendly. A bottle of house wine was around £15 which was reasonable. we did bowling after which was fun music on good atmosphere only down fall was nothing afterwards like a disco but we didn’t mind as moved on else where and by then it was 11pm ☺️defiantly recommend x

This a sort of dining club for the golfers and bowlers and despite external appearances which suggest a traditional experience it was nothing of the sort. More of a canteen atmosphere. What few staff there were ran around the place and it was far from relaxing,although we could see that they were doing their best. Food was OK, just what you would expect, no frills. Reasonable value.

We were recommended to dine at this establishment by a lady in a cafe in Leominster as we did not know the area. What a find - we arrived for our reservation early, but there was no problem and our table was ready and nicely laid. It was the waitress who served us first night and she did an excellent job - friendly and attentive. Our meals were well cooked and plentiful - it was good to have a meal with vegetables on the menu! The desserts we had were very good too.

This was our 2nd choice for lunch as other venue was closed but I think from now on it will be our first choice .Although we only ordered light lunch the food was excellent and we all enjoyed our visit . We did feel the barman / waiter Peter was under pressure as he seemed be doing everything without any help but was professional and cheerful .

It’s my 2nd visit here( my parents have been more often) booked to have Sunday lunch with my parents and Auntie’s and Uncle’s.. 7 of us in total. Again the Hickory stick were very accommodating from start to finish. Lovely food, I had the prawn starter ( which was almost a meal in itself!!)

Arranged funeral wake outside of normal opening hours for 40 people. Excellent service, staff very friendly and welcoming, and great selection of sandwiches, savouries and delicious home-made cakes at a very reasonable price.

We had planned on a quick coffee in celebration of an 80th birthday and walked into an empty restaurant, only to be turned away by one of the rudest, nastiest and most condescending hosts we've ever encountered. When one family finishing their breakfast offered us their table, the host screamed at them and us.

Went with family recently for a celebration meal. Staff are absolutely lovely & do everything right so no complaints there. However, when will this place learn not to serve really over cooked veg in massive portions & the same side veg to the table regardless of what main dish they are having? Swede may be a great accompaniment to a roast but it certainly isn’t to a salmon fillet in a lovely butter sauce. I really wish this place could be a bit more imaginative about putting meals together properly as it is not rocket science. It is also very easy not to deliver over cooked green veg to a table by blanching it in iced water as soon as it is cooked & then quickly re-heating to order. Sorry but the chef should know this!

Had booked a table for 9 and had a fantastic evening. The staff were really friendly and food and drink reasonable priced. Great range of food on the menu and specials board. Lovely log burner and a lovely environment. We all had a lovely evening and well done to all staff. Pudding was massive

I have eaten at this Resturant five times now. The service has alway been polite and attentive, the menu varied, and the lunches beautifully presented and delicious. Hereford sourced roast beef was so tender. Great value too. The decore could be up graded, as it’s rather dated. I look forward to my next visit. This eatery is a real gem.

I visit the Hickory Stick and the Grove Bowl regularly with local village friends, sometimes for tenpin bowling, coffee and a natter, other times for Steak and Bowl night on a Wednesday and occasionally just for a meal with friends. The service is always excellent and friendly and the food well presented.

We stopped by on chance for a cup of coffee, and stayed for 2 hours. Sitting by a roaring log burner, coffee turned into a light lunch from an extensive, well considered menu that catered for both young and the more elderly. The quality of the food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the service very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant whether you are looking for a snack or more filling meal.

Visited for dinner on Saturday 4th November. As there was a group of eight we booked a table and when we got there it was the same table as last time. The meals and drinks were just a good this time as last. The staff very friendly and efficient. Recommend if you what somewhere for a special occasion, we drove from Hereford and think its worth the drive to go there.

Went for a meal here for my daughter's 21st birthday. Even after ordering in advance we still had a bit of a wait no real big problem really. I had a steak that was very good was let down by the poor quality chips I would expect fresh proper chips for the price of which wasn't really cheap best part of 80 quid for 5 of us that's with 2 kids!! Friendly staff clean and tidy make it a very good score rather than average

We had Sunday Lunch with friends here last week and really enjoyed a superb traditional roast dinner, complete its all the trimmings.The plum cobbler was delicious as we're the other desserts.Our friends were really impressed as we were offered gluten free gravy, Yorkshire pudding and dessert.The staff here are all friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble.Definitely a place to return to.

My wife and I have been here twice recently for Sunday lunch with two different lots of children and grandchildren, and several times over the last few years. We have always had a warm, friendly and helpful welcome, there has been something for everyone on the menu, and the food itself has been excellent - I especially recommend the very tender beef. This is a popular venue and the dining room can be expected to be pretty full on Sunday lunchtime - but the service is efficient, with no long waits. Good value too. Strongly recommended.

We came here after my parents had renewed their wedding vows. We wanted a space where people could socialise and catch up with nice food and a friendly atmosphere. Well...1) the staff were amazing in helping us set up.2) the staff were amazing on the day with nothing being too much and forever friendly and welcoming. They made us all feel at home.3) the food was out of this world. We had a buffet and the quality was better than any I've ever had.4) the venue is just beautiful. They made the day special and we will be returning without fail. Wonderful people!

This is a nice pub in a lovely setting within a golf course, the staff are friendly with excellent customer service skills and very helpful in explaining the services they provide.My wife and sister in law enjoyed their lunch which they choose from the specials board although the food did lack seasoning mine was edible (ham omelette)but somewhat below par but I did not complain as it was only £5+. We will return as 2 out of 3 is not bad and I'm sure a better choice will be made next visit.

Great friendly service. Went above and beyond to find my mum's favourite desert for her birthday even though it was no longer on the menu! Good quality food. They even found a birthday candle for her!

Fantastic lunch here, partner had lamb cutlets which were beautiful and I had the homemade meat lasagne,am so fussy with my lasagne and this was up there with the best. Excellent prices too. Caters for parties as well with a bowling facility and a 9 hole golfing green.

Once again,we were not disappointed with our visit to the Hickory Stick.The menu is very varied, and our meal was of a very high standard and beautifully presented.The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming,the staff do all that they can to make the visit very pleasurable.

Found this place by sheer luck! We had been out walking in the Village of Stoke Prior when we came across this Golf Club etc dying for a drink.We were really impressed with the welcome we got and decided to have a light lunch.The Hickory Stick do not do Light Lunch.It was really a great lunch and so good that we did not need Dinner that night just a Sandwich.We went back for 2 evening Dinners and were most impressed with there total package.Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was first class.Congratulations to the entire team who are bound to make this a successful venture.

Booked for 12 of us to celebrate a 90th Birthday. Absolutely perfect. Superb Sunday lunch...the beef had the best flavour ever. Lovely puddings, especially the sticky toffee pudding...it is the best we have ever had. The staff were all friendly and helpful and service very quick. Thankyou.

We used to come for Sunday Lunch every now and again and it was always good. After having tried out quite a few other pubs and restaurants the Hickory Stick is now our choice on a Sunday.We turn up late as usual, sorry to the staff, but they always find us a space. Beef is always good, as is the pork and lamb. I'm sure one day we will try some of the other fine fare! Please try the Hickory Stick out, you find all of the staff very pleasant and the Chef is a wizzard!

Attended my parents in laws 50th Wedding Anniversary party in the Hickory Stick restaurant at the Grove on Saturday evening. What can I say (apart from thank you) to the friendly & professional staff and owners. I have had the pleasure of attending your venue before and you truly are in safe hands when booking a party here. Beautiful atmosphere, excellent food and service for over 50 people. Bowling or a few balls on the driving range will keep the kids entertained all evening whilst the old and infirm relax in the comfortable bar and restaurant. Excellent evening.

Always a friendly welcome and today the open fire was a bonus. Good menu choices served by willing and helpful staff with their smiling faces and cheery comments whilst working a very full dining room and balcony. The beef was tender and the vegetables were delicious. Everyone's food looked good, it was hard to choose! Desserts were too good to miss out on, too, especially the sticky toffee pudding!
