From the interaction with the restaurant staff at The Blaise Restaurant @ Henbury Lodge - the customer service has been stellar and is set at an exemplary standard that I don’t often see. Right from the onset I was greeted & met with a warm welcome and then immediately allocated to a seating area where I was offered a savoury starter along with fresh fruit and yoghurts - a balanced pallets, I was checked upon frequently in a natural way & once I was done with the starter I was served my breakfast main - Absolutely Superb - I highly recommended this lodge & it’s restaurant service

The room was large, clean, warm and well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities. There is also an I pod dock if you need one. The beds are fabulously comfortable too. Breakfast is made to request and it's great to have a host looking after you who is so welcoming. All the staff I came across were very good, professional and courteous. The food in the restaurant is reportedly excellent although I didn't have any evening meals here. There is a carvery a few minutes walk away, and Cribbs Causeway a short drive where there are plenty of eateries. There is a small amount of noise from the adjacent road but nothing major. I would certainly stay here again.

Went for mums 101st birthday. Some of the bread was rather dry on some of the sandwiches but they was mote than enough for everyone and generous helping of scones but the so called cakes weren't nice at all they were more like biscuits. Thought one of the staff might have wished mum a Happy Birthday but no mention of it was suppose to be a special occasion but no effort to make it so by the Lodge.

Following a recommendation from a friend purely based on its outside appearance, the hotel was for me unexpectedly charming on the interior as well, traditional in places (room with quality leather furniture and wood burning stove) , and the food was outstanding. Great value too in my view : double room at £90 per night at time of writing. Quality mattresses and bathrooms excellent, v modern. I will definitely choose this hotel again when next visiting Bristol. I feel it deserves more than 3 stars out of 5. The staff were most helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend. [PS - room 7 is good if you are sensitive to road/traffic noise!]

Stay for one night wouldn't have wanted another in the same room. Very noisy from traffic outside on main road. Stayed in annexe room 23. Room faces onto carpark with large window it's ground level so not private. Felt very exposed. Initially looks nice and cosy room with a smart bathroom. However:- Slight mold in one corner and walls had been rubbed to wipe marks off and had left patches or had been painted with a different colour in patches. Not particularly clean table lamps covered in dust. Cobwebs in bathroom. Bathroom cold, although towel heater was on because floor is tiled it's cold, needs underfloor heating. No hairdryer. Bed comfortable. Wouldn't stay again, would expect for £100 not including breakfast a good night's sleep.

I researched this hotel on TripAdvisor prior to my stay & as such it looked absolutely fine. Upon arriving at the hotel to check In however things began to go wrong. Firstly at check in I mentioned to the chap at check In , who turned out to be the duty manager, that I had invited a couple of business colleagues to meet me for breakfast the next morning. It was obvious that this was not at all on the cards & I was told that this may well be a problem as the hotel was very busy & spaces for breakfast were limited. As such I notified my colleagues not to travel to the hotel. I was then shown to room 14 which was a ground floor mews room across the courtyard. This room had the windows open & what I thought to be a small air conditioning unit running. I quickly realised that the room had a particularly bad smell of dampness & in fact it was a dehumidifier that was in operation I therefore went back to the front desk to ask what on earth was going on? I was told that there had been a flood in the room & they were trying to dry it out! Why on earth even try to let a room in this condition? I was then offered room 21 which is an attic room further down the same block. First impressions of the room were very good with oak beams, sitting area & a nice bathroom. Indeed the bath was very nice however there was no hot water! It did run to luke warm but not warm enough to relax in after a 150 mile journey. Traffic noise in this particular room is a real problem as the hotel sits on a steep incline with a really busy mini roundabout directly outside of the hotel. This noise did die down considerably around 11.30 pm or so however it is on what must be a main route for enormous HGV vehicles which seemed to be constantly passing. This noise returned at circa 6.30am the next morning at which time further sleep was impossible. ( Bed was very comfy though ) Breakfast was in fairness very, very good & the hostess on duty was excellent. I was told by the lady in question that a large breakfast table had been reserved for myself & ' my guests ' I explained that I had been actively discouraged from having these non guests intrude on a busy breakfast room ( it was not busy at all ) It may be that I have just been unlucky with all of my points above & I note that the hotel normally stands up well to travellers observations however from my point of view it was a memorable stay for all of the wrong reasons & the only member of staff who was truly friendly was the breakfast waitress. I will find somewhere else in future

My colleagues arranged an afternoon tea here for my forthcoming retirement. There was adequate on-site parking and we were given attentive service from all staff, providing tea or coffee, until all our party had arrived. Next, a generous spread and selection of tasty, well-filled sandwiches was delivered, along with freshly baked fruit and plain scones, served with strawberry jam and clotted cream - all of which was delicious! :-) After about an hour and three quarters, we were asked to move from the dining room to a comfortable lounge with a bar. It was a splendid occasion from start to finish - thank you!

Hotel is ideally situated to use as a base if you are visiting Bristol. Quiet location. Room was spacious and well maintained. En suite was very modern and clean. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant food was superb. Slightly more upmarket/ fancy food and the price reflected this. It was expensive but the quality and taste of the food was well worth the money. Free parking outside the hotel. Our reason for staying was to be close to Southmead Hospital which is about 3 miles from hotel.

We stayed here whilst visiting Bristol for the museum and art gallery, and M Shed. The staff are very good, the room (number 8) was a good size, good layout, clean and a pleasure to stay in. The view of the garden was nice, the dining room was pleasant, and the breakfast was tasty. The coffee in the room wasn't to our taste but that might just be a personal preference. It's just round the corner from Blaise Hamlet which is worth a look. It was quiet and not very busy (which was nice for us).

These were fixed straight away by the friendly staff. They also provided a nice tray of tea and toast for my gf to take to the room. However on the first night and lunch time the next day they could not provide any food not even a snack. My company use this hotel for visitors and colleagues due to it's location to our office. It's a tad pricier than some other Best Westerns but worth it for the "upgrade".I have stopped here on about 4 or 5 occasions for the odd night or two and the service, food and rooms are always of very high standard.I stayed for 2 nights recently in room 2 which is huge and I have to say that this has got to be one of the most comfy beds I have ever slept in. I wanted to stay longer just for the bed!The rooms are always spotless and the bathrooms are very modern. The lighting in the bathroom is set to motion detection which can be a pain sometimes if you're in the shower and the light goes off but that is my only gripe. The towels are always nice and fluffy and bigger than the average hotel towel which is great.I dined for just one night and had the rib eye steak which came perfectly cooked to my liking ( medium rare) and accompanied by salad leaves and new potatoes. The quality of the breakfast was good and again perfectly cooked which was served by a friendly waitress.Couldn't really fault them and would not hesitate to go back............hopefully in room 2

We had three rooms for a couple of nights to attend a wedding nearby. The rooms are nicely decorated, well laid out, with modern bathrooms, and all well equipped. The hotel is in a quiet 'village' outside Bristol, in pleasant surroundings and with a nice garden. We had dinner on arrival - and this was really good - we chose duck, steak, and a pasta dish, followed by desserts including cherry soup and a selection of ten of their homemade ice creams - some a bit quirky and perhaps not to be repeated! Overall the dinner was most enjoyable.

Stayed one night at the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Room reasonable, clean, well equipped and with an excellent ensuite bathroom. Reasonably quiet - hint - get a room on the side or rear because the front may be noisy due to road noise,Enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant after very welcome complimentary nuts & olives while we preused the menu in the bar area. An imaginative menu which turned out to be tasty, well prepared and beautifully presented food. No stodge or drowning in glooopy sauces here! Modern but not suffering from the common malaise of small portions on a large plate. The menu was not extensive, but well-balanced, good quality and quite reasonably priced (£15 for 1 course, £20 for 2 and £25 for 3). Personally, I would have preferred my fish starter slightly better cooked, but I know that it's fashionable these days to serve fish underdone. The steak that followed, requested medium, was perfectly cooked and the nicest piece of beef that I've had in a while. Portions were generous, and only the gents in the party had room for pudding. The only odd thing was the wine list. We thought that we had ordered French wine, so were a little surprised to find that it came from New Zealand. Closer inspection of the wine list revealed that wine is listed according to its European regional equivalent, but could actually come from anywhere. It was pleasant enough, but £20 seems a bit on the pricey side for wine when you don't even know what you're getting.

After discovering this "hidden gem" last year we were desperate to introduce it to our student daughter . What a let down! Whilst the the carrot cake was deemed good both the Guiness cake and Croissant cake failed to delight. In both cases it was like eating a slab of cold clay ! Stodgy, heavy slices of what simply could not be described as cake. The lesson learnt? Stick to more traditional offerings, as being adventurous completely backfired on this occasion!
