Bumped in to theses guys in a layby near St Ive. Got the last medium steak, nice and hot and really did hit the spot. Not over powered by pastry and a decent filling, just right on the seasoning too. Overall very nice and friendly service from the two pleasant ladies there present. Thanks!! Please note this review is for the mobile service.

This is my second review on Helluva Pasties after a long period of time buying pasty’s on a regular basis from them. We use the Hatt lay-by outlet every Saturday morning and the lady that serves me is brilliant, always polite and friendly. We look really forward to our regular pasty weekend visit. The pasty’s are fantastic, we have never had such good pasty’s before. We are so glad we found Helluva Pasties. The extra pepper pasty’s are really good too, so we tend to buy the ordinary pasty’s one week and extra pepper ones every other week. These pasty’s are first class! And really hope they stay like this because they have got it absolutely right. Highly recommended. So if you want a real Cornish pasty that’s absolutely delicious then you need to go to Helluva Pasties.

Helluva pasties? More like pasty from hell. Stopped by with some friends on our way past an outlet back at the end of February-we didn't know about this company but we were hungry and thought we'd give it a go. being in Cornwall it's only right to have pasties?! Served by a lovely lady, the only redeeming factor. Very overcooked, inside was soggy and mushed, and didn't have any flavour. Safe to say your better off with a Ginsters, better value for money and likely taste better. Total disappointment for us. My two friends both ordered the steak and blue and I had the extra pepper medium, don't recommend either unfortunately.

You have got to have one of these pasties or an award winning sausage roll. Different types of pasty too, I prefer the double pepper ones. All served by lovely ladies too!

Hi went to Countryfile live with my wife for a lovely day out and tasted some beautiful cheeses and in the corner of the cheese section was some beautiful Cornish pasties which I tried and loved what a lovely pasty steak and cheese I can't say anymore apart from beautiful

We have driven past this lay-by near Hatt a few times wondering what the pasty’s are like there. Three weeks ago we decided to stop in the lay-by and try some pasty’s. One word Amazing! Really really good pasty’s! This is now a regular stop every Saturday morning for us now. The lady serving is really polite and helpful. We are looking forward to next weeks pasty’s. Highly recommend, don’t drive past, give them a try and you will not be disappointed. We think they are the best pasty’s around the area.

Helluva pasties are my favourite pasties by far! They have take away trailers that are situated at certain points at particular times daily. They also supplied cocktail pasties for my wedding and arrived at exactly the time arranged. Everyone loved them and they didn’t last long! Highly recommended. Oh, you can also buy them from some shops frozen to bake at home.

Slightly higher price than some pasties but well worth the extra. Plenty of meat and an authentic recipe.

Superb pasties always served by pleasant and friendly staff. The only downside is that at £3.50 for a medium sized pasty I have to make them a biweekly treat!

This is a must stop if you see them advertised in the local lay-bys around Saltash and Callington. Great pasties. Large steak £4. Top end prices but well worth it.

Really tasty pasties, good value for money in my opinion. I normally go to the one in the layby near Hatt, the lady that's usually there is incredibly friendly and always has a smile on her face! Would highly recommend a visit, need to get there early though as they are popular and are normally sold out by closing time.

We stopped off for a take home tea .these are sensibly price .there was a lovely selection and the staff were very friendly and helpful .

If you want a decent pasty and can't make them yourself these are the best. Had one for lunch today and it was lovely. Have had several since they started and have always been lovely. They sell other pies as well and hot drinks etc although I drove home to eat mine. Bought them at Hatt today but usually buy them in St Ive.

Pick up these pasties now and again for lunch for my staff. We always have the extra peppery one as there is more flavor and we like that. Sometimes they are really nice and other times they are just okay, but on the whole not a bad pasty. Worth trying each to their own.

Saw the van in the lay-by near St Ive and decided to stop on our way back from Liskeard. As never tried these before, we went for the medium Cornish. Fabulous pastry, properly filled and seasoned to perfection. It reminded me of the ones my mum used to make. Fantastic find and will certainly try their other products next time. They certainly live up to their name!

The large steak pasty is really large! Excellent filling, very moist, beautiful pastry, and definitely the best pasties we have ever had! Thoroughly recommended.

Really good value homemade pasties. i've bought them uncooked and frozen from their production facility and hot from their vans. Friendly team.

These pasties are just like home-made. Excellent pastry, excellent filling and beautifully seasoned. Every time we are near Callington we end up with an order from friends and neighbours to collect. Pasties like your Mother used make!

Being vegetarian, it's tricky to get a good pasty. Either the pastry is too heavy and greasy, or the pasty is full of (cheap) onion and mild (cheap) cheese. Helluva pasties use a much tastier mix of red and spring onions, and the cheese is a lovely flavour. The power of this pasty however is in the pastry - just the right thickness, light and not greasy at all. Totally delicious. I have it on good report from a very picky pasty eater I know, that the meaty pasties are The Best in Cornwall... but I'll leave that for the meat-eating reviewers to confirm!

The pastry was succulent, contents were juicy and mouth watering definitely the best pasty I've tasted in a long while all credit to them.

To truly appreciate a proper Cornish pasty you need to have experienced the poor attempts that some companies have dished up and sold to you. Proper Cornish pasties are crafted and hand crimped with thought and passion to tradition. Helluva pasties are of a quality and taste that have surpassed any other I have eaten. Today I bought a freshly cooked box of 20 steak and cheese n onion for a family get together, even my 77 year old mother, who has been making her own pasties since a little girl, said she was impressed. Great job to Crissy, Sam and the team for a 'Helluva Pasty'...... you can even buy them 'extra peppery' proper job :)

My partner is a qualified chef and knows a thing or two about food and flavours. Helluva Pasties are, as their name suggest, the best we have ever eaten. The pastry metls in the mouth, is not greasy, and the edges are all eatable, which often is not the case with other Cornish pasties we have brought. Our dog went hungry! The pasties are very well filled with a delicious secret recipe. I have have read Sarelly review and am astonished at the comments made as our experience was exately the opposite. We highly recommend these products and they are extremely good value for money. We shal be buying more and possibly by mail order (See website).

They were horrid. I couldn't eat mine as it was that bad. My hubby had a different filling but his wasn't much better. If we were closer by the time we ate them I would of took them back! I fed mine to the dogs.

These pasties were recommended to us and now we know why! Wasn't previously a huge pasty fan but they've converted me! Love the name and it's exactly what you get. I opted for the extra pepper and it was perfect. I don't usually like the crust but couldn't help myself on these and ate the whole lot - the pastry was delicious. We will definitely be back when we're in the area again and will carry on recommending to our friends too!

Pasties are very much a food of taste. But Helluva sell their ordinary pasties of all sizes plus some with extra pepper. I find they are the best in the Callington area and are very reasonably priced.

As Pasty sort of guy, these are nothing special, they are over priced for what they are and I have had better ones in Liskeard & Callington area.

Stopped of at St Ive layby today approx 11.30am.Bought a medium steak pasty. The pastry was way to dry and crisp for a fresh pasty.The filling was better but no taste as such.They do one with extra pepper but mine was bland.

Well presented and finished, beautiful glazed crunchy shortcrust pastry, perfectly stuffed, delicious peppery filling

We tried the new vegi pasty at the Liskeard show today . What can I say it was great certainly in my top three veg I pasty in Cornwall .i will certainly be stopping at the van nr St Ive next time we pass just to check ! Lovely lady at the show , still enthusiastic at 5pm

Always get pasties from St Ive layby or layby on way to Saltash....always pleasant staff and pasties hot and tasty...recommended.

This might only be a lay-by stop but we really enjoyed this pasty, so much so we ordered some online for delivery when we got home, and that service was superb too, THANKS for the taste of Cornwall here in Hereford

We always keep a supply of Helluva pasties in our freezer compartment as we have a lot of unexpected visitors, everyone thoroughly enjoys the pasties and they usually ask me to order them a dozen or so for their freezers. I think the medium steak pastry is yummy and i've even stopped making pasties myself as these are just like home made if not better. My daughter-in-law favours the spring onion and cheese ones. The sausage rolls are delicious too. I recommended them to someone at church and they said they ordered some for a funeral wake and they agreed the pasties were super. Be down soon to get some more for my easter visitors.

Had helluva pasties at a cornish evening and I have to say along with the sausage rolls ( incidentally the best I have had) were proper. I like good pasties and these were up there with the best.

Any true Cornishman will have to agree this has got to be one of the best. We regularly get pasties from St Ive trailer for ourselves and staff who rate very highly. We do many Cornish themed evenings and all our guests from far and wide rate Sam's Pasties. Just sent 4 pasties and 4 pies to Wales, the lady and husband loved them. Good on you Sam and team, keep on feeding us real appreciative people of good "Propper stuff" Geoff and Terri.

Ok, so they aren't the cheapest pasty around, but you get what you pay for! I've tried them all and none have disappointed, but my particular favourites are the Steak & Blue (cheese) and their sausage rolls. Absolutely delicious, more than enough for a lunchtime snack and plenty for a tea time meal. Highly recommend one next time you see one of their vans, or buy frozen from the shop near Cadson Manor. Oh and recommend the pies too!!

Over rated and expensive.seems like Ginsters with a high price tag. doesn,t do the Cornish pastie image any favours.

Called in today and purchased a large Cornish pasty, people seem to be raving about this pasty but to be honest it was a disappointment for me. Firstly it was cold, even though the lunch trade had just begun, sure the server took it out of the warm store but it probably hadn't been in there long. Secondly the pastry was too soft and crumbly it fell apart after tucking in to it (This I suspect has to do with the weak flour, a pasty should be made with strong flour 8 - 10 % protein) anything less is for biscuits etc...and last of all, it was not seasoned enough. Cornish pasties should be peppery ! I consider myself to be a pasty connoisseur having run my own successful pasty business for many years, a fairly decent effort but could do better!

I pulled over to take a complicated phone call and when finished found myself next to a little catering trailer selling pasties. There was a gentle but steady flow of cars stopping during the half hour I was there. By the time I got out to investigate barely at the end of lunchtime I was told that they had sold out and were packing up for the day. I went back a fortnight later. I was finally able to sample what had shown itself has a steady draw for locals and travellers. Good value hearty pasties, fairly priced. The listing needs some photos of the site, trailer and the pasties.

Wow, who would think you could get such amazingly good pasties form a trailer! My niece told me that this was the best place for pasties and by Jove is she right! I don't eat beef, but this was not a problem as there were several different ones to choose from. I highly recommend the cheese and baked bean and my husband enjoyed his steak one too. The pastry is light and delicious. The lady who served us was very helpful and also told us that they do a mail order service - could be very dangerous for my waistline!Look out for the signs on the A390 Callington to Liskeard road - but be careful of the potholes when you turn off the road.

Great pasties and other hot snacks, ate mine in car park over looking a beautiful valley next to mobile shop, there new bacon and egg pie is well worth trying.... Highly recommend..... And you can also buy them frozen from the Mole Valley Farmers outlet in Liskeard, but don't take my word for it try one yourself.. :)

It's not a restaurant. Instead it's a small shop and - more enterprisingly - a mobile store alongside the road near St Ive on the Callington/Liskeard road. The pasties are excellent - good genuine chunks of meat and vegetables, not over-seasoned. You can order batches in the shop to your own specification in terms of seasoning. You have a choice [in the shop] of pre-cooked, pre-heated and uncooked. Highly recommended and far superior to other so-called pasties which can be bought across the country.

Takeaway pasties from their farm style shop. Absolutely yummy! And no burping (sorry) afterwards! They must be good :) What is it about pasties? These are excellent. Their sausage rolls are gorgeous too!And my daughter says the cheese and onion pasties are the 'best ever'!!

Had some of these pasties for an evening snack at our wedding, all served up lovely and warm from the trailer. They went down an absolute treat, plus lots of our guests took some with them for their journey home and they loved them. Very clean, very helpful and very tasty! I can't praise Helluva Pasties highly enough, and would recommend them for any type of wedding, party or business lunch.

Definitely a helluva pasty!! Maybe a little more money than some of its competitors but worth it. Larger than most and well filled - these pasties have a proper Cornish homemade taste. Will definitely make the pasty trailer a regular stop

Helluva make the best homemade pasties around and to say there are flavourless is a absolute joke. They are worth every pound ££££ you pay as there medium pasties are the same as most shops large pasties. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend helluva pasties to anyone as they are one helluva Cornish pastie.

At last, someone is making real home-made Cornish pasties! Tried the one with Cornish Blue cheese and now I want more ! Their pies and sausage rolls are pretty good too, and don't forget you get what you pay for !

i have had these pasties on various occasions and they've always been really good. i've had them already cooked and i've bought frozen ones and cooked them at home - really easy to do and taste/smell yummy!!

I recently had a cheese and onion pasty from here and I have to say that it was very flavourless, I couldn't taste any cheese in it. The bottom was black and over cooked and the inside was filled with only potato and onions from what I could tell. I feel a poor for the pasty alone would be harsh but for the price I paid I feel that they are very expensive for an average pasty! I've had a lot tastier pasties for half the price. Overall, pasty just ok and average but your paying double the price then you would else where which have more flavour.

Tried the pasties from the mobile van in the lay-by after taking the dog for a walk. They were warm and the trading stand looked very clean. The only down fall of the pasties is the price far to expensive for the size of them the local town of callington you can buy them at smaller price for the same quality it seems a very expensive price for the area

We purchased pasties to take home and given our journey was a very long one, our pasties were wrapped in excellent freezer wrappings, staff very friendly, really tasty!

Picked these up for lunch. Lovely pastry & really well-filled. Perfect for a group of hungry friends after a long walk.
