Its OPEN!! The Cornish Arms in Pendoggett is truly a gem! The atmosphere here is fantastic—warm, welcoming, and full of character. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, you’ll feel right at home. The selection of craft beers is outstanding, offering something for every palate, from numerous IPAs, ales and interesting lagers. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about the beers they serve and always happy to share recommendations. Friendly and approachable, they make sure every guest has a great experience. If you're in the area, this pub is an absolute must-visit!

A great local pub that is now OPEN after a recent change of ownership (July 2024). Serves a very good range of craft beer from local micro-breweries. Available to taste in 1/3 pint measures so you can sample the full range! The new owner is a lovely guy & very welcoming, knowledgeable & helpful. Just a short walk/drive from Port Isaac / Port Gavern on the B3314 - make sure you give it a try - you won't be disappointed! We'll definitely be coming back...

With so many local places closed down for the winter it was a relief to find a pub open and serving food. It was a bonus to find an initiative in place offering reduced food on a Thursday, though I don’t know how long this initiative will be running for. The food was average, perfectly edible but not of restaurant quality. The beer was good and there were plenty of tables to choose from. We’d visit this place again if we were in the area.

Don't have the stew. No gravy or liquid and the meat was tough. Masb was cold. When we asked for gravy, they served a tepid brown water. Adding a photo. Dark gravy was with a different meal. Light brown was the tepid brown water I was talking about. This is the only bad review I have ever had to write. Avoid at all costs.

My husband and I were accompanied by our dog here in September 2023 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my birthday. We both had steak, which was one of the best we have eaten, followed by desert and coffee and a couple of glasses of prosecco. The service was excellent from the moment we got there to the time we left. I would highly recommend a visit you will not be disappointed.

If I could give less than one star I would. I am not one to put a bad review on or complain if it wasn’t a true representation. If anything, it always feels good to be writing a lovely review!l however, I really can’t say the same for this pub. It was my brothers 19th birthday and we are here on holiday. We have been coming to Cornwall for the last 5/6 years and have experienced different types of Pubs and have found some truly lovely Cornish pubs with great pub grub! This one was the worst we have ever been to…. The pub itself has a lovely feel but when we ordered food, we did not expect for the Mac & Cheese to be sat in water and for the burger buns to have mould on. We told the girl who was on the bar and she couldn’t have been more apologetic and took them back for them to be re-done. They came back, the chips had been microwaved as were soggy, the burger buns were stale and the burger was red raw in the middle. My partners was barely even browned on the outside. We were all so disappointed and put off our meal which had now ruined my brothers birthday. The waitress apologised and said all food would be taken off the bill which we explained, it was not about the money but about the fact the night had been ruined. The chef then came out and explained there was a trainee in the kitchen tonight and had seen the food and sincerely apologised. He said he was filling out paperwork and wasn’t supervising. It has truly ruined the night as, due to the time in the evening, there is no where else serving food. The owners response was appalling and didn’t even speak to us personally. The only positive I would say would be the lovely waitress who must now been extremely embarrassed.

We stopped here for a few drinks at 3pm and ended up staying for dinner at 5pm! Superb Mojitos made us stay along with amazing crab dishes. The owners here also have the Krab Pot in Port Isaac and their crab dishes are superb as well as a hard to finish 12oz gammon and crispy buttermilk chicken served with mac and cheese. We loved the crab and ginger tart and the crab cakes too. Can't wait to come back and try the Margaritas! Thanks a lot for a few great days in your garden

Visited upon reopening following the easing of lockdown restrictions in April 2021. Really nice garden with picnic tables and big parasols for shade. We had a short break here last week and were the first guests since opening after the most recent lockdown. Adrian, Sandra and son were so welcoming and friendly. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Delicious dinner on our first evening, crab and prawn linguine. Breakfast cooked by Adrian also delicious on both days. First visited the Cornish Arms 35 years ago and it was a cosy haven then in filthy weather, and so it was again. We do hope that things get easier as the country gets through COVID. Thanks Adrian and Sandra!

Stayed here for 5 nights just before lockdown on 2nd November 2020. It was absolutely faultless in terms of ambience, cleanliness, covid awareness and location was great. We parked up and caught the bus to Port Isaac which saved trying to find parking and the long walk to the main car park from the village. The room was a lovely Queen room with horse wallpaper and a four poster bed. It was comfortable and cute. The breakfast was cooked from scratch by the landlord every morning and he provided a great bit of information about the area and the village and surroundings. We ate dinner there on 4 of the 5 nights and the night we went elsewhere we were left disappointed as the food in the Cornish Arms is so good. the menu is fish and vegan focused which suited us and the crab and prawn linguine and fish and chips were exceptional as was the vegan curry and vegan burger. We found it to be great value for money and the room was a steal at 130 per night as we stayed 1 night before a mile away and paid 240 for a much smaller room which was not clean. We loved the staff they are very helpful and happy in what they do and it shows. Highly recommend this and we have booked again for April in the hope we will see Doc Martin filming

Myself and my partner stayed here for just the one night on a weekend getaway after the first lockdown. The pub was beautiful and quaint and perfectly positioned for our visit into port Issac. The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and the COVID precautions made us feel really safe. The food was stunning and the bed was super comfy. I would definitely recommend this beautiful inn. We will certainly stay here again if we are in the area. If I could make any suggestions it would just be to warn customers that the inn doesn’t actually open until 3pm (not just the check in) so if you arrive earlier than that then you can’t sit in the bar and have a drink while you wait as you might hope to be able to do. It’s not a problem as long as you are aware in advance

Booked here for a 4 night break - great location just outside Port Isaac - the inn was cosy although quieter than we expected late evening. The room was pleasant, clean and comfortable but basic for the cost, however, Cornwall seems generally expensive. Room would benefit a bit of a move around to accommodate a small dressing table shelf and stool as could not use mirror when drying my hair or putting make up on. A small touch but would make such a difference. Ate in the restaurant bar most evenings - unfortunately little choice if you didnt eat fish - food was cooked and presented nicely albeit a tad pricey, however, that seems to be Cornwall prices again ! The breakfasts were plentiful with good choice, served in a bright breakfast room at very reasonable times. The staff here were wonderful whether just having a drink, having breakfast or eating in the evening - nothing too much trouble and provided a second to none service - this made our break worthwhile and felt valued customers. Whatever the inn lacked was certainly made up by the staff team running it, which gave an overall very pleasant stay.

Our 4 day short break for my wife's birthday started off poorly having driven for 6 hours through driving rain to be told we had to sit on the stairs for 45 mins until the 3 o'clock opening as opposed to being let into our room to rest up, then book in. However, the Inn is comfortable, the room was clean and well appointed although tv reception is intermittent due to a poor signal for the area. The staff are lovely people, breakfast is excellent. The weak point is the evening meal which applies the same brief menu all week and requires a quality upgrade. The crab tien as a starter for £9 a time requires more than a teaspoonful of minced crab on the same amount of squashed avocado!. Similarly a cheeseburger usually comes with the cheese, not £1.50 extra for the cheese and melted under the grill on top of the burger NOT dry grated cheese under the meat patty which makes the whole meal practically inedible!!. Overall the Inn is a comfortable place to stop for a break but look elsewhere for your evening meal!

The staff are really friendly and welcoming and explained it was table service only and we must wear masks if leaving the table. Tables are well spaced out with beautiful leather dining chairs and we felt safe and well looked after by the staff. It is obviously a family run business and that makes the difference, these people really care. Brought our dog who was fed too many treats and spoiled rotten by the bar man. Highly recommend

We were staying in an Airbnb nearby and visited this pub several times, sometimes for food, other times just drink. We were blessed my good weather so drank outside in the lovely beer garden - you generally had to book to get a table inside. Good selection of drinks on the bar and friendly bar staff. The food was ok - typical pub fare, if you're expecting gastropub style food, you might be disappointed. If you're looking for a decent local pub to drink and fuel up on pub grub, you won't go far wrong with the Cornish arms.

We thought this looked like a lovely quaint place to stop for a drink. We were ‘greeted’ by a VERY RUDE Irishman who barked orders at us and told us we could sit at any of the tables in the main bar area because they were all reserved. The kitchen didn’t open until 5:30 and it was barely 4:30 and we had intended to stop for one drink. There were 20 plus tables free... I’m afraid we aren’t prepared to be spoken to like that or to be made to sit in a corner of an empty pub. We left and we won’t be returning.I think in the current climate that this sort of treatment of customers is foolhardy but good luck to him if treating people this way is paying off.

We had booked into “The Cornish Arms“ for an early evening family meal. We were pleased to see the pub supporting the “eat out to help out” scheme to encourage mid week diners. We ordered scampi tacos which were a soft flour wrap rather than a taco, filled with refried beans. salad & deep fried scampi. Not a common or palatable combination. It came with dips and chips and was ok to fill up on but not tasty & the refried beans did not compliment the scampi. We did not try starters or puddings as our table was required back within 90 minutes of the booked time and we felt this gave a rushed feeling to the meal and we felt uncomfortable to order further items. Based on this visit unfortunately could not recommend it.

Stayed for 2 nights; we booked a standard room at 120 a night as nothing else was available, though we expected a little more for 240, it was so, so basic! Bathroom was very grubby; splashes all over the walls. The room was just very bland; a feature wall with forest wallpaper didn't detract from the very basic room with the smallest tele on the wall, which we put on to drown out the noise of a fan/ generator??? Or else the late night chat of guests/ staff sat drinking at the pagoda below our bedroom window till late. Evening meal/ breakfast first morning was nice, probably because the boss man was serving/ overlooking, though the food the second night amd breakfast was not so good. We asked for crispy bacon, but it came out cremated! I had higher expectations of this place after reading positive reviews and paying 120 a night. Maybe we caught it on a bad few days. The owner/ manager??? appeared very rushed, with no landlady around, as stated in earlier reviews. We didn't like to request anything further as it didn't seem like he has time on his hands!

On arrival, the so called land “lady” that’s a joke, requested our room payment immediately without even letting us inspect the accommodation. The first night of 3,we went to bed after the long drive to Cornwall looking forward to a good nights sleep. As soon as we got into bed at about 11pm we noticed a constant drone through the room which sounded like a large fan motor running all night. I complained the next evening to the landlord who did nothing. This went on for 3 nights and the owners could not be contacted because they didn’t live in the pub. This noise was in rooms 4/5, as the guests in room 4 also complained without result. On the final morning, all the guests were told there was no breakfast available because the chef hadn’t turned up. What a total shambles of a pub, and no chance of refunds. We are now in the process of going to solicitor to make a refund claim against this couple of con owners.

The Cornish Arms are subscribed to the Brit Stops scheme we contacted them to check availability and arrived at 5pm for an overnight stay. The car park has an area to the bottom perfect for larger vehicles and we were directed there when we telephoned.

We stayed at the Cornish Arms this weekend to see the Fishermans Friends at Port Isaac. We were so glad we did! The owners were lovely and couldn't have done more to make us welcome. My parents had a room upstairs which was immaculately clean and apparently extremely comfortable and we were lucky enough to be able to spend the night in our camper in the car park. It was no hassle to pop in to have breakfast with my mum and dad the next morning and the Cornish brekkie was just what we needed. When we had arrived back from Port Isaac the previous evening, there were some men playing traditional music by the bar and the atmosphere was amazing! Great drink choices, great food and great people there to top it off. Would highly recommend!

The food here is not good enough for a prison. Steaks described as rump were silverside cut off the roasting joint reserved for tomorrows Sunday lunch.

We stayed here whilst down checking out a campsite for the summer and had an enormous dog friendly room with everything supplied including fresh milk for cups of tea, dental, shaving packs and the usual shampoo and soap packs. It was all really well thought out.

We stayed in a cottage down the road from this pub. We had food here twice which was lovely! The owners were very accommodating, one evening they even helped us with planning our visit to the Eden project. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.

This is our 2nd time at The Cornish Arms. As before Karen was a great host nothing to much trouble. On this occasion we had the pleasure of meeting her son and daughter and there family. The ambience is perfect and you get to meet the locals. Food is good.Rooms are beautiful, beds comfy and you get a great breakfast. Book direct as in the winter they have an offer 2nights B& B with a 2 course meal with a bottle of wine on your first night per couple all for 140 pounds, bargain. Thank you Karen for a lovely stay, we hope that Geoff is on the mend.

We had a late lunch here on Tuesday whilst on holiday in the area. Despite it being a midweek lunch, and 2.15pm, the pub was still relatively busy, with a good collection of locals, who were all very friendly and chatty. Nice cosy interior with wood-burning stove.

Have visited this pub 4 times in the last year and have been very impressed with the Sharps beers and steak and ale pie. Staff, local customers and landlord always make us feel welcome and this quaint pub has become a favourite stop off point when travelling in and out of North Cornwall

Only here for 1 night, but the service was exceptional, the food was very good and the rooms had everything you could possibly want. To top it all there was a huge gin list, pity we were only here for 1 evening.

Just back from a long weekend at the Cornish Arms with my Wife, really enjoyed our time there, friendly & helpful staff with good food & beer. Although it is a b&b; it is still a proper locals pub and they made us feel really welcome with some real characters.

Picked this place for a night away from the norm and for its close proximity to Port Isaac so we could visit during the day. It's a lovely old building with lots of charm and character. The room was excellent. Very clean, really comfortable beds, nice powerful shower and very well equipped in terms of amenities. Breakfast was also very good. Had a fun evening in the bar.

We found this pub after a visit to Port Isaac, on our return home to Trewarmett, and were so impressed by the comfortable, friendly ambience and the welcome we received from both staff and the many locals who use the pub (always a good sign) that we decided to return and have a meal on our next visit to cornwall.

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!
