Really interesting unusual restaurant with separate food stalls where you select your food and then take them back to your table. I ate from the Mexican menu which was delicious. Other people on my table 8 from a time menu and they were also very happy with their food.

What a brilliant addition to St Leonard’s. Great setting, with a varied choice. Everything is reasonably priced and it’s a very cool place for food and drinks

Very dissapointed at overpriced meal at Boatyard. My starter was three rock oysters priced at £10 which I thought was overpriced. They could have at least served some bread with it, but no, that was an extra £5.50 for four half pieces of bread with butter. I had the sea bass as main which was £24 for a small fillet of sea bass with some root veg and kale. Chips were extra at £4.50 which I think at least should have been included at that price. Dessert was OK, although I felt I should share one with my partner as it was £10. The whole bill for four of us was over £220 (including beer and wine). The bill was not presented on paper but described to us on a tablet screen held by the waitress. Only when my father paid the bill did he see that 12.5% had been added for service. He felt this was too much and agreed to pay 10% and got a £5.20 refund. I was embarrassed as I had chosen the venue, not expecting such inflated prices for a mediocre meal. The service was OK and the presentation and setting again was OK but did not warrant the prices charged. Dissapointed, slightly embarrassed and will not be going again and would not recommend to anyone.

Back for our third holiday visit. Rainy weekend in Hastings - but walked along coast to this fabulous concept location . Had the smoked mackerel tacos and the red Thai curry ( coupled with local cider) . Great couple of hours .

Such a cool spot in St Leonard’s with stacks of vegan options, friendly service and cool vibes. There’s seating indoors (can’t reserve) and a sun trap garden too. Vegan options include Japanese tofu and rice, yakisoba and okinomiyake on a Sunday, Thai curry, tacos and a burger plus small plates from most stands. There’s a coffee stand and a beer and a wine place too.

If you've one of those families who cannot agree what to eat, with everyone needing their own thing, then Heist is for you! If you love international cuisines and good wines, then Heist is for you. Heist is a pop-up-based venue giving space to several small kitchens, each serving up excellent food. When we visited that included Japanese, Thai, Tex-Mex, Burgers and seafood. All the dishes we had (Japanese teriyaki, green curry, loaded fries and tacos) were excellent and freshly prepared. Each kitchen has soft drinks on offer, and there is a coffee place in the venue. The seafood-orientated kitchen is also a wine bar that also serves beers. The venue is rustic-chic, with communal tables for all the kitchens, although it is kept clean. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The place isn't very big and we can imagine that it gets very full in the summer months.

Absolutely amazing food and wine. The food is freshly made and such a lovely choice, things you just wouldn't probably cook at home. Wonderful plant based food of offer. The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant, you can see them making and cooking the food. Service was great and informative, extremely good value. Would definitely go back.

Today was our third visit to Heist. The previous two times we had lovely Greek food which was plentiful, very tasty and reasonably priced. There was also a nice, convivial atmosphere. Today we ate at the Japanese concession and the food was distinctly average and way over-priced - £27 for two plates of food 😳. When the food eventually arrived, it was served on cold plastic plates and we weren’t given any knives to eat the food with. As well as the food being less than good, we were also put out by how busy Heist was, with lots of families with huge prams and children taking up space on tables colouring in and playing with their parents’ iPads. But the final nail in the coffin that has really put us off was the number of dogs in the restaurant. These were not discreet, cute, ‘hand bag’-type dogs. There were around 5 or 6 large, hairy, smelly dogs, lolling all over the floor which we had to step over. Since when were dogs allowed in restaurants? Absolutely disgusting. I don’t know why we didn’t cancel our order once we realised we had stumbled into Crufts?! I wonder what the Food Hygiene Inspectorate would have to say about Heist’s ‘dogs free for all’ policy? It’s a shame as we have previously enjoyed Heist, but we won’t return here, sadly. Not until dogs are no longer allowed and it becomes a more hygienic place to eat.

We visited here this evening following a recommendation from friends. It’s a really cool, chilled out dining area with multiple different street food style places to chose from. They are dog friendly, which is great. The food is prepared to order, so we had a short wait for our meal. The food was absolutely delicious and we were all really full when we left . Highly recommend their cider. Great place to visit

Home ground kitchen is my new favourite place for indian food. The thali bowl is incredible, the ingredients were excellent quality and so tasty. The Kati rolls were so good they could give Poland street a run for their money. The service was excellent! 5*

We weren't sure what to expect when visiting Heist but it is an excellent experience and just a brilliant idea. Central seating areas are surrounded by a number of different food stalls- from informal street food (we've tried Japanese, Tacos, Chicken - all which were delicious) to more formal dining. There is a place selling locally brewed beers and cheeses (WHY has this not been done more??) and also a wine specialist selling by the glass as well as bottle. It's fantastic - choose whatever food and drink you fancy, settle down in lovely quirky atmosphere with good music in background and have a great time. Place is really clean, great service, friendly. We've been three times in a week! Would love to see more places like this elsewhere. THANKYOU Heist.

A really great food market in St Leonards, packed full of independent food and drink businesses doing their thing really well. It's not massive, but that makes it all the nicer - try Boatyard for fish, Arigato for Japanese and get natural wine from one...

The Plough Inn is a fantastic and friendly little pub at the top of the West Hill...great for both locals and visitors - definitely worth the walk / ride up the hill in the Funicular. Great outdoor garden out the back, which includes a Petanque court, as well as a covered heated area.

We have been member of the club for 6 years . We often go for breakfast but Brenda Andy have retired . The new people are absolute useless first you wait half hour for two breakfasts , to then be told you had not paid for two I went up and said to the lady to which she couldn’t admit it was her mistake , and basically told me and my husband to not come back . I love the club but won’t ever be using them for breakfast ever again shocking young people with chip on shoulders
