A very nice little cafe with great coffee and cakes. Its clean and well decorated. It has its own individual style. My only gripe was that the staff were very loud when talking to each other, to the point that there were times I could barely hear my friend I was sitting with.

Fabulous little cafe, staff always helpful, hot food delicious, cakes even more so. I particularly like the blueberry scones as the sweetness comes from the fruit, not from loads of sugar - perfect for a diabetic with a craving for cake!

Delicious but embarrassing Brunch! We popped in here on our way from Worthing to Brighton and both had a Seriously Delicious (my words) Breakfast Brioche and mugs of tea. We both concluded they were exceptionally good and good value. We then called out Thank You to the staff and went outside pausing to look in the window at the array of homemade cakes. Then a very friendly face and voice popped their head around the corner and said 'sorry, but have you paid'. We both looked at each other and exclaimed No! I think to my knowledge that is the first time we have done that and something that I will try never to do again as I haven't stopped thinking about it since ! I wouldn't hesitate to go again,if they will have us, when we pass through, as everything looks delicious!

Came with a friend for the first time. Only scones available were cheese or blueberry. We both had the blueberry. Very disappointing;not many blueberries and even then only small chopped up pieces as you can see in a photo on another review. So although the scones were fresh they were tasteless.Perhaps that's why the waitress strongly pushed the idea to have them with jam and cream at £2 more.

In this increasingly de-humanised world, Hectors provides a cosy corner of good humoured friendliness. The staff must know fifty customers by name, many of whom return every day. The soups must be the tastiest in Sussex, if not the whole world, and accompanied with avocado and grilled halloumi on rye toast, they make a wonderful meal. Thank you for being such a lovely warm place.

I booked a table here as my sister wanted to come here for her belated birthday, my sister said the place is small so perhaps booking a table would be best, thank goodness I did, it is very small I sat down and waited for my sister, my mum and my other sister, the member of staff came over promptly to take a drinks order whilst I wait. My sister, my other sister and my mum arrived, it went down hill from there! We ordered 3 teas and water, only the water and 2 teas turned up, no sign of the other, my sister went up and asked where the other tea was, then nobody came back to take our order so again my sister went up to the counter to put our order in. We waited half an hour for the food, everyone else who came in got there order, my sister again asked how long our food is, I think they forgotten, my other sister and my mum got there order but myself who ordered cake and my sister who's birthday it was didn't receive her food, I wasn't bothered, again my other sister asked where her food was, they completely forgotten hers, 45 minutes later it arrived and she had to quickly eat it and go as she had to go. The staff were non apologetic and rude. Such a shame because the cakes are nice. I don't think I'll come again, I expect better and that wasn't what we wanted

I've eaten at this venue numerous times. The sandwiches are fine, hot food is a disaster and should be avoided. I should have taken my own advice yesterday. I last had a hot meal there about a year plus ago. I swore never to again, but gave in yesterday. Cod and chips (£15.95) and a lasagne (£14.25). The fish had clearly been frozen – nothing wrong with that – but then poorly cooked, resulting in a fishy stodge. The chips were overcooked – few were edible. Apparently, the lasagne was so-so. Whether it was the meal, but we've both spent more time in the bathroom than is usual, today. The experience wasn't worth £30.20. Stick to the sandwiches.

My son and I Had Mussels Provençal, a few days ago; too many olives and capers, not even sure if Provençal has capers and olives? But not the point of this post. We both experienced upset stomachs. We are both mindful that mussels can be problematic. But it’s ultimately the responsibility of the establishment to ensure their customers do not get sick from eating their food. Thankfully we are not old or frail
