Amazing vibe and even better food. We went to the shop next to the cafe to buy some seeds (best quality and most affordable we found yet) and the owner recommended us the coffee at this place. The carrot cake is a must try - moist, full of flavour and you can feel the spices and carrots blending together. I had a cappuccino and it was actually a cappuccino - it tasted like real coffee with loads of foamy goodness- and an espresso which was creamy and rich. The price came to £9 which is standard for small coffee shops like this so not overpriced at all. We have seen people working, reading, creating. It is really a special place. We will definitely be back.

I drove here in my lunch break as Ive had nice sandwiches during the pandemic and want to support local business. I was told that its a limited menu and could choose a "bacon and cheese toastie with chilli jam" and ordered a latte to take away. The latte was lukewarm being generous and was drank in less than a couple of minutes. The toastie was basic standard bread etc and given in a cardboard box. £9.40 seemed very expensive and I didnt like the amount of waste in packaging, especially ordering a takeaway drink that wasnt hot enough to make it home. Dissapointing :(

The cafe has a great atmosphere. Some of the food and drinks are ok. The service can be slow and they run out of things. One of the common criticisms is that the cafe does not prioritise cleanliness.

I have been wanting to visit this place for a while. so today was the day.. it was a disappointment.. the menu is very limited, my halloumi on naan was very tasty but my husbands quesidilla was bland and the amount of salad was so small, he commented as to why they bothered putting it on the plate. He was disgusted with the state of the gents toilets which he said looked as if they had not been cleaned for at least two weeks… Sorry but we won’t be back.

I love the vibe of this place, and it is great for a coffee or cake. However we went recently for a lunch, and ordered a sandwich. It took over half an hour to come and was really small for the price. The filling was almost all lettuce. Quite disappointing! That being said the staff are always lovely.

Yet another bad barista experience. They look the part and have everything required to make a decent brew but yet again, the skills are lacking. I should have realised when it took less than a minute to produce my “flat white”. Too hot overall so the microfoam dissipated within moments. Learn the craft, take the time and deliver great coffee rather than average to poor.

I called in on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Excellent staff, very up-beat with high energy and courtesy. I took a corner table and sampled the home-made Leek and Potato soup (a Watercress alternative was available). The chef was able to produce Scrambled Eggs with Avocado on a Sour Dough toast (even though it was pushing on 3pm). All in all a fantastic little cafe with some cool reading material and their secret 'drawer of letters written to nobody in particular' if you happen to be seated at one particular table. Five stars to this gem of marvellousness.

Nice coffee and food and staff friendly. But needs a renovation. Wobbly tables not helpful when drinking hot drinks. If you're going to maintain the drab style then maybe drop your prices as you pay the same anywhere else but much nicer furnishings not old school tables you've been donated. Also asked to buy a book they had there and was charged more than the price displayed on the back that you clearly bought it for. If you weren't just donated that as well. Nice coffee is nicer in a nice place, just trying to be nice about it.

Best cafe in Newcastle. (No offence to Tea Sutra or the Flat Cap). You can't dislike this place. You can tell the staff love working there as well. They seem to be drawn from the students who live round about, so they have something going on behind the eyes, unlike the rictus-grinned androids with scripted greetings you get elsewhere.I don't get in as often as I used to, because my stupid job is in the opposite direction, and I'd gone there for a first date with my ex, which went swimmingly, which is more than can be said for the relationship that ensued, so I was a bit apprehensive when I went in for some food recently as you get so many reviews on here where people have gone back somewhere they really liked and said it was awful, and the prospect of stirring some unpleasant memories wasn't particularly appealing. I needn't have worried. The tea still came in quirky mismatched cups, the hot falafel wrap was exactly the way I remembered it, the staff were friendly, the service was good and as I sat in the corner with my paper, watching people going about their business through the big front windows (another thing I love about the place - especially if it's raining or snowing outside) I realised the only thing that could have improved the experience would be if a few of my mates had been there for a game of Scrabble.

Heaton Perk is a great little cafe with good coffee and a nice selection of alternative hot and cold drinks - not just the usual garage fodder! We come here quite a bit for a nice coffee and cake session, the brownies are spot on! and the rotating selection of other cakes is good too (maybe except the large muffins that are a bit bland!?). - also classic and retro sweets are nice to use up any change left over. The atmosphere is really good too, nice music playing, large windows to look our on, and plenty of oddities to observe on the walls and shelves, along with plenty of books you can swap for some of your own (same for same).Service can be hit and miss, with busy periods meaning you might be in for a wait, and if ordering food, best to order another coffee for the wait. - saying that the food is good for the price, nice mixture of sarnies that work well, nothing too adventurous.Overall its a good place to spend some time with a decent coffee; well worth trying out if near by.

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.
