Great venue, small and a real buzz

Went here for a concert a while ago. I'm disabled and their accessibility is pretty good-- Not perfect (there was a small set of stairs between the standard pit and the bar / viewing platform so wheelchairs had to be at the front of the pit-- artists and staff did their best but there were a couple moments things had to be stopped for safety) but the view was pretty good which a lot of venues slack on. Concert itself was really fun. Pricing isn't too bad either. All I'd say is if wheelchairs are gonna be at the front of the pit, maybe there should be a cordoned off area to save them from being accidentally pushed into if the crowd moshes or gets really energetic. Another option could be a raised platform or a wheelchair accessible way up to the viewing platform/bar and toilets section in the concert bit. I did really enjoy the Cluny but would love to see more options for those in wheelchairs and such that were a little on the safer side.

The City hall and Arena should take some lessons from this venue. They serve the best beer of any music venue I have been to and do it at a good price! They also serve really good food.

We visited the Cluny during school holidays and they had a day drinking menu and a poster for fish and chips. On ordering we were told the fish and chips offer was only for the Easter weekend. However, some of our party ordered off the day drinking menu at a reduced price but found they were charged full price. When we challenged this we were told it was not available during school holidays. There was nothing on the menu to tell us this and member of staff got really angry that we should bring this up. They were really too lazy to take the offers off the menus and objected to being challenged about it. Disappointing service and no idea how to run a business. Shame as I like the Cluny.

Food was ok, but they had put 'day drinking' menu out giving reduced prices. Chose from this. Realised price was much higher than expected so asked. Lady behind the bar was incredibly rude. I merely queried the fact it was £40 instead of the expected £20 odd. One barmaid responded that she'd accidently put the wrong menus out and this menu was not on because of half term. I didn't have a problem with this but the other member of staff immediately became very aggressive and stated loudly "oh I'll refund it if it means that much to you". (I didn't ask for this I was just trying to alert them to the fact that they were advertising incorrect prices ). She brought the money and thrust it at me. When she brought the food she didn't bring cutlery or tell me where to get it, she was so clearly angry that I felt I could not approach her and had to wander round looking for cutlery etc rather than ask. She spent the rest of the time glaring at me which as really disconcerting and really effected the enjoyment of the meal! The place was fine but this particular member of staff really needs to consider her attitude. Poor customer service.

Always seems to promise interesting things on tap, and yet they always seem to be sold out. Feels like it tries to do too many things and doesn't quite stick any of them - gig venue, craft beer, food

We had some food which was excellent and the venue was too the staff were all very approachable and helpful great night

This was a heck of a place, went to see Holy Moly and the Crackers here. Great non alcohol options, excellent vibe and a mosh pit. The staff were great, all was safe and I loved the decor, this place is seriously cool. I felt so like I was part of the ‘in’ crowd.

Cool bar, wasn't too busy or loud on Friday night. Easy enough to get served and the staff were friendly. Good place to meet for a chat with friends.

Really great food. Really need to go see a band in there soon. Just wish they would say what type of music each act is as its not always obvious so need to look each band up to see if I would like there sound

We were on Cluny 2 - nowhere near as good as Cluny I, eg the selection of beers was poor. However, the gig that we went to see, Buffalo Nichols, supported by a Sunderland blueser was very good Great atmosphere from the audience and the Milwaukee guitarist had great rapport with his audience

Great place for a gig. Plenty of beer selection. Nice to sit outside in the summer. The place that kick started everything good about Ouseburn. A little bit pricey but most places are nowadays.

Went see a band called devour a tribute to depeche mode place was lovely drinks prices reasonable for venue bar staff were friendly and happy and band were great only downside was with me being small I had to stand on stairwell to see as there was no room on balconies so my advice is if you are small try to get to the front to bag the best view other than that had a good night would recommend

Great venue. The atmosphere is relaxed and they have a really good selection of bands there. It is important to support venues like this. They nurture a lot of talent

We popped in here on a Monday night for a pint, we ordered a chicken gyro and hot dog. The food was awesome, and a really nice selection of beer. Best chips I've had in ages 😂

This was my first visit. I came down for a gig and decided to get some food at the venue first. I was expecting just burgers and pizzas, but was pleasantly surprised to see a Greek lamb and orzo stew (sadly I've forgotten the name) on the menu. It was absolutely delicious and the lamb was wonderfully tender. The venue was a nice size for gigs, and I've no doubt I'll be down again to attend gigs here. Great beer selection in the main bar too.

First time visiting the Cluny for a Londons calling gig. A great venue with ample staff serving, so no long queues to get a drink. It was a fantastic night and a great venue for music. Highly recommend a visit

We follow The Men They Couldn't Hang to various venues around the Country, have done for over 35 years. We came to The Cluny to see them. WHAT a venue and night. An amazing place.

Came and had a bit food here with my son. Really good. Friendly french? Girl served us fairly quiet sort of jazz cafe thing going on. Haven't seen music here for a while but it's a good wee venue in a nice little suburb of the city

Lovely little rustic music venue with a nice vibe. Tasty food, if a little pricey. Only real downside was the stroppy barmaid.

We have eaten here a lot and usually love the food but came to eat last night and the food was awful. The nachos costed £12 and were literally a basket of nachos with a bottle of buffalo sauce tipped on the top and one over cooked chopped up chicken strip with a few flakes of blue cheese. The blue cheese was not melted and when I asked for it to be melted the staff were rude and I heard a guy in the kitchen swearing about it. They bought it back and said the blue cheese doesn’t melt… not sure what kind of blue cheese doesn’t melt. When I took it back to the bar saying I didn’t want it because it was rubbish and not worth £12 the guy was rude and not apologetic at all. I could have made that meal for less than £1. My partners burger was also dry and the meal took about 45 minutes to arrive. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen. Such a shame because usually we love the food but definitely won’t be back. Rest of the bar staff were great and polite but the tall guy with long hair who I spoke to and who was rude in the kitchen was awful and couldn’t be bothered with any customer service. I’ve never left anywhere a bad review before but this was just crap and a waste of money.

What a venue the staff are so friendly the foooood is so god damn tasty my family came up from Scotland they couldn’t believe how awesome the place was next time they come up they want to go to a gig

Been to see one million bands here , totally fantastic little intimate venue, especially cluny2 . If your Fave bands on here your in for a treat..serves great beer too, but only upstairs.rubbish selection in Cluny 2.

Great venue, unfortunately the manager and some of the bar staff were really aggressive. My friend requested a song and the dj told her to f off. She complained to the bar staff and they told her that individual was actually the manager so nothing could be done. When it came to end of the night the staff were confrontational, aggressive and abusive. One to avoid if unless you want transcend back to the school playground.⁴

Not only was this an amazing venue for a show. Small and we'll laid out and friendly. But the day after we went back as my hubby lost his shirt at the show 🤦🏻‍♀️. The girl at the bar went above and beyond searching for the infamous blue Lonsdale t shirt. Reply appreciate what an awesome and wonderful bar with such amazing staff!

Whats not to like about the Cluny. Good food, great beer and a fantastic venue. Can't wait to see Jake Clemmons in November.

Fantastic food and Excellent Gig.

I luv this place and the food is great we luv the pizza , until we went on sat and long horns taking over kitchen which we not a fan of Going back 20 years putting food in a basket Shame pizza's were lovely

Went recently to see Andy Cabic/Vetiver. Was expecting the rest of the band but never mind. The Cluny and Ouseburn in general are excellent, who wouldn't want to live there. Decent prices, down to earth and friendly staff. Andy wasn't as good as he was at the Laundrette but that could be down to an almost indifferent crowd. He needs encouragement. When I wonder are the Old Crow Medicine Show returning to the Cluny? 🤔 That was a great night, as was Vetiver and Devendra Banhart at Newcastle University, but I digress. Must book a room nearby next time, designated driver is always me🤯

Great little venue, could do with a few bar stools in the gig room for especially mellow artists where there crowd aren't moving! The village green has lots of interesting, historic things to find dotted about too.

Been coming here for nearly 20 years. Amazing food, amazing beer, friendly service, nice outdoor area, fab live music. Just a lovely place to meet friends, eat and drink.

Cluny is an amazing place for live music, great food and native pints. It's a little on the expensive side but for what it has to offer its worth it. Its a nice getaway from the city centre

Questionable management and door security. I would suggest if you want to dance at a gig to avoid this venue.

Really great place but Very very cold inside..i guess there all the same these pubs that used to be warehouses or near arched bridge's - viaducts..lots of ales on draft and the food was good.. nice friendly staffso win-win👍🍻👍

If you like small venues, you'll love the cluny(think eagle inn salford, but little bit bigger) 2 stages under 1 roof, helpful and friendly staff

First time for us and a excellent time we had. Friendly staff good selection of beers. The venue was nice and small so made for a interment experience for seeing the band. We will definitely be going here again. 💯👏👍

Loved visiting this venue as my twin brother Stephen and I were hitting some of the great pubs and bars around the Byker and Ouseburn. Great food,superb beers and staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their bar but what impressed me most about The Cluny was the building, a former warehouse building brought back to life and now a popular music venue ,the building has character as does the area around The Cluny ,most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Lime Street, Ouseburn.

Saw a great band in the Cluny2 . Main pub was bustling, didnt have to wait long for drinks that we could tske outside had a ball 👌😎

A meeting at a venue down Newcastle Quayside led to me taking a leisurely stroll alongside the Tyne and before I knew it I’d ended up within the vicinity of The Cluny. I was a bit peckish, I hadn’t had any lunch, and I haven’t been down The Cluny since well before the lockdowns began, so today was the day since the opportunity was there. Received a lovely greeting on entrance by a cheerful young lady behind the bar, and was told a walk-in was fine as I hadn’t made a reservation. I got to pick my table (Number 6) and ordered food and drinks via scanning the W8R App, which is pretty easy to use. The burgers and chips (Photos attached) I ordered were excellent and the three cappuccinos I drank were lovely, the service absolutely spot on and despite the Covid19 precautions and procedures in place I still had an enjoyable afternoon at The Cluny. Would happily recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
