I can't thank the young man behind the bar enough for all his help after a date went really wrong. I spoke to him earlier on in the night he made sure drinks that were ordered for me was mostly juice as I requested in private to him and when things got out of control and I panicked and was inconsolable he done his best to diffuse the situation, spoke to my friend on the phone to tell her what's happened and made sure I was going to get home okay. He made me feel safe and I would recommend this bar to absolutely everybody and the woman on the phone when I called to praise him took the time to ask if I was okay and listen to every word I had to say it shows they not only care about customers but also that the staff are well appreciated here and that makes a big difference. Can't thank the staff enough.

This is a nice, traditional pub with lots of pictures of, or related to, the Iron Duke and Waterloo. I don't know about food, because we only went here for drinks in the evening. They had a selection of a few excellent cask ales, including Landlord and Wadworth 6X, both outstanding. Unfortunately, they were weak on the locals at the time when we went, at least.

My partner and I love it in here as it's quiet. Most other pubs in the surrounding area are usually rammed - especially the Rose & Crown (which is cheap), but if you want a nice quiet drink in a pub that plays canny music, the Duke's the place to go. No kids allowed too, which is always good. Bar staff are so canny too.

Myself and my partner could not get seated anywhere in central Newcastle on Saturday night so on a whim, we decided to pop in. Yes, it’s cramped and the decor has not been changed for 30 odd years, but don’t let that put you off. The customers and staff are all so friendly. The staff serving remembered our order so we didn’t even need to tell them. The music is an incredible selection of cheesy pop, and they’re showing the football. The drinks are cheap and don’t taste watered down like some of the other bars in the area. This is my pub of choice for Newcastle town centre, please check it out if you’re ever out and about in the city.

Unfortunately we needed the loo and the toilets are disgusting, black mouldy walls, floor covered in what we hoped was water . From the outside it’s looks like a nice old traditional pub. What a let down. The owners need to clean the place up. One plus was the lady serving the bar was nice .

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town when we decided to drop into The Duke Of Wellington Pub and what a fantastic pub this is . Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a traditional interior, an island style serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a wonderful pub ,one I am so glad we found. We were here on a Monday evening, pub was just starting to get busy with a great atmosphere, a quick study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Timothy Taylors " landlord " , this pale ale was served in excellent condition, we settled down and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, on a really hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and to be honest in an area of Newcastle that has so many good pubs. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on, for a first time visit to The Duke Of Wellington Pub we had a great time . The Duke Of Wellington Pub is easy to locate along High Bridge. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, Midday till Midnight. Sunday,Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

A very comfortable pub to relax and have a few beers'we visited here while we were walking around this area and decided to go in and have a few beers.
