Took forever to get served, food not very memorable, H&S concerns, not a place we will revisit, mentioned chairs blocking the fire exit , out comments were ignored

Came in for some lunch on Saturday, served by the wonderful Katie. Food and service was fantastic would highly recommend!

Lewis made the most impressive loaded fries that were not on the menu. Had a fab time get these on the menu thanks

Can't really rate, as stood at desk where you wait to be seated, no one came, this is not a bad review, maybe short staffed, so give 5 stars, did not want to drag rating average down.

Delicious steak and ale pie, service very friendly and helpful. Free Yorkshire's even though we'd missed the Sunday dinner. Fab meal.

So this was an experience took my daughter for her birthday with my 2yr old granddaughter and her partner firstly place was nice inside service was slow even tho there was a handfully of people in now the the food , we ordered a cheese and tomato pizza for my granddaughter this pizza for the price should of been hand made but no it was a microwaved Chicago town pizza I ordered the sirloin steak medium rare no this is where it got worse took half and hr or more to arrive came with half a tomato 2 onion rings frozen from wholesalers would of expect hand made for the price the steak was a disgrace was absolutely tiny and then the was more fat and gristle that meat I ended up spitting all back on plate because ever bite a took was filled with fat and and stringy bits of muscle,so when the waitress came over I explain the issue she took away after apologised and went and spoke to chef came owt and offered me another steak I obviously refused so she went back and told chef she then came out and asked me if I would like some ice cream gobsmacked ain't the word, anyways I felt bad for her as wasn't her fault so I never kicked off this disaster cost me £19 alone for 2 onion rings half a tomato and inedible piece of meat and some frozen chips ,I spent a total of £80 on this experience yes it's not a lot to me but others it will be ,to the owner your chef is a disgrace didn't even have the balls to come out and apologise left it to the poor waitress I advise anyone who reads this do not eat here it's and absolutely a disgrace and writing this review on the 30 Sep 2024 owner should be ashamed of this but if he is robbing people with this low standard of food then am guessing he does not give a dam.RESPONSE to owners reply ,after reading multiple reply from yourself the (OWNER) I noticed u keep blaming the supplier , however if this was the case and u had acted and spoke to the supplier and things had not changed after multiple complaints about the quality of the produce my question to u why have u not changes the supplier after all if my business depends on good produce and the supplier was not providing this then I certainly would not be using them bit of common sense really . Also why is produce not checked before accepting at the door by the chef or your self and to be honest the so called chef u are using probably is not a chef he probably a family member or friend because a proper chef would never serve that garbage to anyone and he obviously does not know difference between a good steak from a bit of road kill . Ps ,u could never pay me to eat here again so no I won't be giving u another chance as u put it .

Took my grandad out for lunch today and as usual had a lovely meal. He really enjoyed the pensioners fish and chips. Hats off to Katie who served us diligently and paid special attention to my grandad who can be hard work at times! Thanks Katie we’ll be back soon!

Expansive pub with wide ranging menu and great food. Service was a bit slow but it was busier than usual.

We were at the Jingling Gate to celebrate my Nanna's 93rd birthday. The service was excellent, especially from our server Maja who looked after us really well. We had a great time and will definitely come back again!

Enjoyed afternoon tea for 5 of us on Tuesday 20th August 2024 to celebrate a 30 years wedding anniversary with my elderly mother abd her husband. Izzy was our waitress and I have to say she was absolutely fantastic, she was so kind and caring to us and my mam who has quite advanced dementia. Izzy was so cheerful and nothing was any trouble whatsoever. I noticed how she was very helpful and cheery to other customers coming in too. The food was delicious, fabulous choice of sandwiches and cake and it was all freshly prepared for us. We went at 4 pm and there was a nice atmosphere, no rush to vacate our table, cannot fault anything at all. We have had other afternoon teas at a well known chain of cafés in Northumberland but I have to say this was far superior in choice and value. Thankyou Jingling Gate and especially thankyou Izzy 🎉

Been a while since we visited due to family commitments. Sadly the place is a shadow of its former staff. Food very mediocre- starters were scarce and had no taste, mains poor - gammon steak was incredibly salty, cheese on burgers plastic. The jingling gate used to Serve fresh traditional good food - no longer . We shan’t return

Lovely, tidy, clean, speceshes, Very roomy good polite service just waited a bit to long for a meatball wrap. i understand others were in front of me but meatball wrap small but good.

Shocking! I haven't been here for a while but although the staff are all lovely, the clientele that are now coming in are awful. I would compare the pub now to the Peregrine which is a shame because it was always a better pub.

My husband and I decided to try the Jingling Gate for tea. He had the Hunters chicken which he said was OK but my Katsu Chicken was not good at all. The very few pieces of chicken I found were in a thick brown gloopy sauce. I had to scrape of the gloop to find the chicken. I noticed that the group beside us complained about that particular dish, but we just paid and decided not to go again, sadly.

Often call in for drinks after work. Nice atmosphere, quality drinks and greet service now, especially from Hollie 👍

We visited last Monday, first time we have been, food was lovely and Izzy our server was brilliant with my son. Will be visiting again very soon.

We are regular visitors to the Jingling Gate but wanted to write a review for the excellent service we received from our waitress Katie. She was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She always had a smile and is a credit to herself, her family and the establishment who employed her. Thanks for making our evening an enjoyable one Katie. Keep up the good work. The food was great and the staff really friendly. Couldn’t do more for us and I would recommend this to anyone. You really must try the sticky toffee pudding.

Delicious food. My steak cooked just how I like it. Katie our server was delightful. It would have been nice to know her name prior to getting our bill.

Typical Greene king pub. No fresh cooked food and produce and overpriced alcohol.

Lovely friendly pub, lovely food but did get food envy when I seen the gammon, I had fish and chips which was lovely too. A nice selection of ales to choose from. Just like to say a special thank you to Lucy for looking after us especially the seniors in the group she went above and beyond. Absolutely lovely staff! Absolutely gorgeous apple and berry crumble. Haven't been here for years, after moving out of the area. Have now moved back & decided to visit, very disappointed. Food is OK, a bit pricey for what you get, service could be better.

Food was ok. But a the staff can be a little off putting, please let us put our knife and forks down before asking if we have finished. And please make it more clear that the fizz Friday offer finishes at 2100hrs. Overall ok, but could be a lot better.

The service was amazing and food was tremendous. We spilt a drink and Katie was on her break on the table next to us and came straight over to come and help us clear up. We will definitely come back here!! -Jessie age 9

We had a lovely time at The Jingling Gate where we went for a meal. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, the food was delicious and the lady who waited in us was so nice and friendly.

I have been several times since I last reviewed a year ago. But I just thought I needed to do it again after this afternoons visit. I go to a variety of eateries every Saturday with my daughter and 3 grandchildren, but I've come to the conclusion that this is the best. It has the friendliest staff, delicious food and really good value in these times of rising costs(2 for £14 even on a Saturday). I will be back as soon as I can.

Cask ales were available. And they had a nice kids menu. So family friendly

Went for lunch. Menu on google not the same as one in pub. Better food first class. Venue clean and inviting. Staff very helpful. Will be back.

Called in for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago had the beef and turkey, the Yorkshire pudding looked amazing but was so thin and crispy it was more like a popadom and the beef was really tough

Been a while since I was at the Jingling Gate, but last night (Saturday night) we sat down to a booked table for five at 6.30pm. I think it's a Greene King pub, but this is probably the best one of that pub chain I've been to for food and atmosphere. We found the food was very good/excellent. If your meal comes with chips and want to go healthier, it's worth adding a side or two of vegetables, as they were were good quality and fresh not frozen. We had Hunters Chicken, Gammon steak, Sirloin steak, a rustic chicken and pulled ham pie, and Scampi for mains, just the one starter, a couple of puds, a coffee and chocolate toffee shortbread, three double gins three pints of coke and a blackcurrant and soda came to roughly £120. It's good value with some dishes available on a two for offer from £14.99, but you can push the boat out if you want. The table service (which is always an unexpected treat in a pub) was prompt, attentive and Katie our server was also really friendly, and enthusiastic about the pub and it's activities. She's a credit to the Jingling Gate and did a great job! We'd been to the Theatre in Sunderland in the afternoon but chose to eat closer to home. It was a good decision! We left about 8.30pm and the place was absolutely buzzing. There was a band due to start which seems to be pretty regular on Saturday nights and I would have liked to stay for that, but the dogs at home meant we couldn't. One final note, they also respect the blue light discount for NHS etc...

Okay pub. Standard pub chain food. Nothing special but fills a hole. Abit expensive for drinks and recently there has been only a few other customers in. Staff are always helpful.and friendly

6 of us went today for a birthday celebration. We all had roast it was dreadful cold veg hardly cooked, white roast potatoes, beef so tuff you couldn't even cut it. Glasses not clean. So poor. And the building has a line of Rat boxes around. Will not return

Food: Nothing was wrong as such....just really cheap food so I suspected the quality was going to be just ok. I'd rate it 2.5 if I could. Staff were nice when we were there on an early Friday evening. It was busy with lots of locals having some after work drinks and food. It's never on my list of places I'd want to visit to eat but my wife wanted to go as she said it's not too bad. I'd forgotten my previous visit so just agreed. Edit... I'm just rating the food here so probably being a bit harsh with my rating. You have to think that not every place is going to be 5 star as the quality of the food would have to be much higher. I'll change it to 3 stars given that the atmosphere and staff were good.

New year's Eve shocking, music was so quiet my phone speaker was louder. Live music went off at half 11pm and he left by 11:40 , with little music (they had music but phone was louder) to lead up to new years. 3 second count down. Everyone I talked to said it was poor and it was the same as last year's. I wouldn't go back

We went on Thursday night for food and the quiz, great atmosphere and a good quiz and the best Gammon I've had for a while, they have a good collection of guest ales. We were shocked when we got the bill, the entire family meal cost the same as a recent meal at McDonald's, we expected it to be much more. We were served by Katie she was very pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended.

We had the Xmas Fayre today and it was amazing food was delicious table was set really nice and staff were so attentative, courteous and friendly. Would highly recommend and this was our best Xmas eve meal ever. Thank you
