Came for food with the family and I had to leave a review for Alex because he really made our visit ! He couldn’t do enough for us.

A delicious meal. I had the chicken schnitzel, picture posted. I highly recommend.

We had a lovely time at The Jingling Gate where we went for a meal. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, the food was delicious and the lady who waited in us was so nice and friendly.

Great bar and restaurant near Westerhope. Excellent for locals to walk to, bands occasionally on Saturday evenings.

I have been several times since I last reviewed a year ago. But I just thought I needed to do it again after this afternoons visit. I go to a variety of eateries every Saturday with my daughter and 3 grandchildren, but I've come to the conclusion that this is the best. It has the friendliest staff, delicious food and really good value in these times of rising costs(2 for £14 even on a Saturday). I will be back as soon as I can.

Cask ales were available. And they had a nice kids menu. So family friendly

Went for lunch. Menu on google not the same as one in pub. Better food first class. Venue clean and inviting. Staff very helpful. Will be back.

Called in for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago had the beef and turkey, the Yorkshire pudding looked amazing but was so thin and crispy it was more like a popadom and the beef was really tough

Really nice friendly pub, lovely food and alot of different drinks to choose from. The Hunters chicken dish and the beef and ale pie were delicious! Special thanks to Isabel the waitress for going above and beyond. Absolutely lovely staff! Will definitely visit again.

Been a while since I was at the Jingling Gate, but last night (Saturday night) we sat down to a booked table for five at 6.30pm. I think it's a Greene King pub, but this is probably the best one of that pub chain I've been to for food and atmosphere. We found the food was very good/excellent. If your meal comes with chips and want to go healthier, it's worth adding a side or two of vegetables, as they were were good quality and fresh not frozen. We had Hunters Chicken, Gammon steak, Sirloin steak, a rustic chicken and pulled ham pie, and Scampi for mains, just the one starter, a couple of puds, a coffee and chocolate toffee shortbread, three double gins three pints of coke and a blackcurrant and soda came to roughly £120. It's good value with some dishes available on a two for offer from £14.99, but you can push the boat out if you want. The table service (which is always an unexpected treat in a pub) was prompt, attentive and Katie our server was also really friendly, and enthusiastic about the pub and it's activities. She's a credit to the Jingling Gate and did a great job! We'd been to the Theatre in Sunderland in the afternoon but chose to eat closer to home. It was a good decision! We left about 8.30pm and the place was absolutely buzzing. There was a band due to start which seems to be pretty regular on Saturday nights and I would have liked to stay for that, but the dogs at home meant we couldn't. One final note, they also respect the blue light discount for NHS etc...

Okay pub. Standard pub chain food. Nothing special but fills a hole. Abit expensive for drinks and recently there has been only a few other customers in. Staff are always helpful.and friendly

6 of us went today for a birthday celebration. We all had roast it was dreadful cold veg hardly cooked, white roast potatoes, beef so tuff you couldn't even cut it. Glasses not clean. So poor. And the building has a line of Rat boxes around. Will not return

We all went for tea (family of 4), each member had a different meal, all 3 courses were fabulous. All plates clean 😁 food 5 star and the staff 5 stars also. The staff were very attentive, James and Natalie went above and beyond. Thank you for our pleasant evening, can't wait to come back..

Food: Nothing was wrong as such....just really cheap food so I suspected the quality was going to be just ok. I'd rate it 2.5 if I could. Staff were nice when we were there on an early Friday evening. It was busy with lots of locals having some after work drinks and food. It's never on my list of places I'd want to visit to eat but my wife wanted to go as she said it's not too bad. I'd forgotten my previous visit so just agreed. Edit... I'm just rating the food here so probably being a bit harsh with my rating. You have to think that not every place is going to be 5 star as the quality of the food would have to be much higher. I'll change it to 3 stars given that the atmosphere and staff were good.

New year's Eve shocking, music was so quiet my phone speaker was louder. Live music went off at half 11pm and he left by 11:40 , with little music (they had music but phone was louder) to lead up to new years. 3 second count down. Everyone I talked to said it was poor and it was the same as last year's. I wouldn't go back

We went on Thursday night for food and the quiz, great atmosphere and a good quiz and the best Gammon I've had for a while, they have a good collection of guest ales. We were shocked when we got the bill, the entire family meal cost the same as a recent meal at McDonald's, we expected it to be much more. We were served by Katie she was very pleasant and efficient. Highly recommended.

Some of the food very Good Some not so Good lovely staff that looked after us but thought table would be decorated as I booked it for a pre Christmas meal with my 85 year old disabled Mam & Special Friends no music either 😔

We had the Xmas Fayre today and it was amazing food was delicious table was set really nice and staff were so attentative, courteous and friendly. Would highly recommend and this was our best Xmas eve meal ever. Thank you

We were on a tight schedule. This was a quick meal before our holiday. Natalie and the staff were very efficient. We ate 3 courses in about an hour and a quarter, the food was delicious and nicely cooked. We’ve eaten here many times and it’s always good food served by pleasant and welcoming staff. In the words of Arnie ….. we will be back!!

We are visiting Newcastle from our home in Spain and was recommended to your establishment..All 7 of us ladies thoroughly enjoyed the 6 hours we spent eating lovely food and enjoyable drinks. What made it more special was the superb attention from arriving to departing from KATIE our waitress.Nothing was too much trouble including splitting our bill. Will definately be visiting again when we visit the North East again....

Came for some dinner with family and had the most lovely experience here. Food was amazing and the staff were so friendly. Our waiter Izzy was fantastic and went out of her way to help us if we needed anything. Definitely be coming back.

The food was good, we were here for dinner and dessert and enjoyed both. Great to see several Gluten Free options for dessert. There was a reasonable wait but it was a little busy, to be fair.

In the recent spell of hot weather we met with friends and sat outside. Nearly every table was filthy. We had to ask for ours to be cleaned. The staff just stand behind bar chatting and you have to wait for them to finish their conversation before they serve you. There seems very little management here. It could be a good pub but needs managing properly. I have to say kitchen and food serving staff do work hard though and are very pleasant. Sort the staff out behind the bar and get those tables cleared and cleaned, that's all it'll take.

I had a truly disappointing experience at the Jingling Gate. The poor quality of the food was evident from the very first bite. The food looked limp and thd flavors were completely bland. To make matters worse, several items on their menu were out of stock, leaving me with very limited choices. But the biggest letdown was the complete lack of staff availability. It felt like a ghost town in there. I had to wait for what seemed like an eternity just to place my order, and when I finally did, it took even longer for my food to arrive. The whole dining experience was a frustrating and unsatisfying ordeal. I wouldn't recommend the Jingling Gate to anyone looking for a decent meal and good service.

Absolutely awful. The staff looked very unprofessional, food was tasteless. The chicken my grandson ordered didn't seem to be cooked properly. The person on duty did replace it with equally poor quality chicken nuggets. My daughter had an open vegetarian sandwich and she thought it was one of the worst she ever had. My scampi and chips was not bad. The whole place seemed to be lacking in something from beginning to end. We have often visited the Jingling Gate but won't be returning in a hurry. The place could be a goldmine being beside so many new houses in a lovely area. Good management and staff training will probably be the answer.

Needs updating . Staff can be helpful where others not so much. Food slightly better than wotherspoons , but not brilliant. Atmosphere not great unless you go with a crowd. Busy pub with large beer garden

We had the most delicious desert on the menu called 'the sharer' however due too fantastic service from the waitresses isabella we all vote the desert should be named after her 😀

First time in here - it was very busy, and I could quickly see why! Staff were very friendly, attentive, and coping well under pressure. Food was brought out fairly fast considering how busy it was! This is by far my favourite pub. It's beautiful inside and has a countryside feel to it. The staff are always so friendly and can't do enough for you and the food is always lovely. We strongly recommend this pub.

Really decent priced pub food. Tasty options and good selection of drinks. Car park is a decent size but can get quite busy. The pub often runs charity raffles or events to benefit causes in the local area which is brilliant

This is our local pub. Only ever had one complaint, that was soon sorted. Food is amazing. Good quality, always hot. Atmosphere in the pub is great.
