Absolute joke of a place, waited 35 minutes for 4 hot chocolates that cost an eye watering £17.20. Steer clear it’s just dick Turpin without the mask

Where do I start? This place is an absolute embarrassment to Heaton Park. To keep is simple I’ll summarise (there’s lots more than this!) - Staff wandering around doing aimless tasks like organising tea stirrers (didn’t need any attention…) - Told a 15min food wait, just shy to an hour (wasn’t that busy at all…) - Burger+fries and chicken burger+fries, got order wrong - Blamed wrong order on me, saying I must not have been clear, asked to check receipt… of course they are wrong and order is wrong - they don’t accept any responsibility and ask if I’ll take it anyway… we do - because a chicken burger would take 30min as they’ll need to put it too back of the queue - excuse me what?! - Older female member of staff, on phone typing for around 6-7min when food bell is dinging… eventually she takes food to table while screaming ‘Ben!’ like there’s a murder taking place… - Food is embarrassing for the money (£17 for photo) There’s so much more I could say, but frankly it ends with the manager, who clearly just needs removing and staff who need a lot of training.

The 3 Pods are lovely if you book in advance for afternoon teas with a minimum spend of £60 per pod. The pod keeps out the rain, wind, and cold. Nice location overlooking the boating lake with ducks and swans and rowing boats. Pleasant helpful staff. But afternoon tea disappointing at £25 each: 2 finger sandwiches (egg/chicken), 2 savouries (sausage/egg), 1 scone with jam/cream, 1 cream meringue with fruit pieces, 2 different small cakes, plus tea or coffee. No good if you don't like sausage (2 items) or egg (2 items) or sweet stuff (4 items). How about a cheese sandwich/savoury instead? Scones were overcooked and dry and cream was too think to spread, sandwiches were pretty dull, sausage roll pastry was not cooked through, sponge cake looked dry, but meringue was lovely and pot of tea was nice.

Took my children aged 8 and 6 into Lakeside Cafe Heaton Park. My 8yr old asked for fish goujons. After a long wait they arrived burnt to a crisp plonked on a few chips. 3 burnt goujons priced at a whopping £6.50. I sent them back and got told they are supposed to be like that or the fish would still be raw. They looked like they had been cooked with a blowtorch. I would never go in there again. Bad service and overpriced awful food.

The most fabulous afternoon tea experience. Maurice and Nora looked after us very well, in the air conditioned Cafe Domes, situated next to the lake. The food was exceptional. The best sausage roll, the best scone, chicken sandwich was amazing... Just fab u lous 👍. Highly recommended, and looking forward to going back 👍

Had a lovely afternoon tea by the lakeside, in one of the glass pods, for my birthday. Maurice and the other lady who waited on us were excellent and really go out of their way to make your lunch a special treat. Service was second to none! We went on one of the hottest days of the year and yet with the air con on, the pod was definitely cooler than outside! Food was delicious and better value for money than some afternoon teas we’ve had! We had a delightful lunch of sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones and then a leisurely stint on a rowing boat to finish our afternoon. Thank you so much to the team here for your attentiveness and dedication xx

Visited here in August and ordered a tiny ice lolly, cake and can of coke at a price of nearly £8! 2.50 for a tiny iced lolly! My friend had a tiny bacon barn at a cost of £5. The cake was dry and served on a tissue not a plate! The bacon barn wasn’t great either and one staff member was rude and seemed like she really would rather be elsewhere. Won’t be returning- will visit the other cafe near the farm instead.

£25.00 pound for a cream tea that did not come with a drink or very much of anything to be honest. 2 finger sandwiches and 2 prices of sausage roles and a couple of cakes and a scone

Fabulous! We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in one of the glass pods. The staff were very attentive and the food was amazing! I loved that there were more savoury options than other afternoon teas I have had. We also enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco! It was Mother’s Day weekend, the sun was shining and we all had a fab experience. Thank you all!

This place is an absolute circus! A billion staff members wandering about like lost lambs and not a single one knows what is actually going on. Needs some serious managing and implementation of some form of structure

Badly disorganised, wrong drink made, not enough tables . Nothing properly labelled like how the kids boxes work or which way to queue up. Slow. Overpriced.

I take my dogs for a walk in the park most days and stop for a coffee and cake two or three times a week They are very friendly staff and are very dog friendly Nearly always great quick service but on some occasions when there’s a long queue service can slow up. But that’s to be expected

Left in the lightening and storm with a terrified 4 year old, assistant called Sefton was, rude, nasty unprofessional, he didn't come to help and refused refund, all done with a terrible attitude, my advice do not book these boats with young children as the assistant is not equipped to be responsible, fobbed off by 2 other people, total shambles the entire operation

Second time I've been here and both times they've messed up the order. First time asked for sausages and was told they had none, had to order something else I knew kids wouldnt eat and waited half an hour for food in which time I saw someone else order and receive sausages. This time I waited 15 min after ordering food including mac n cheese to be told they had no pasta. Still waiting for replacement order as I type this 20 minutes later with 2 starving and grumpy children. Ruined an otherwise lovely morning. Staff are nice but doesnt make up for terrible service. Also received hot drinks after 5min which I cant drink due to face mask and will no doubt be cold by the time the food arrives! Not impressed at all.

Gutted we left our picnic at home, had to unfortunately come to this cafe. Sandwiches extremely basic, spread overly heavy with butter to the point I couldn’t eat mine, cake was disgusting and I had a 25 minute wait for a hot chocolate which wasn’t even hot when I got it ( work that one out 🙄 ) For 2 sandwiches, a hot chocolate, a carrot cake and a biscuit it cost me £16 😳 Well overpriced for what they serve. Staff more interested in shouting at customers to stand in boxes to wait for drinks etc. Just make the drinks as soon as they are ordered and you won’t have loads of people waiting around. Definitely wouldn’t go again. The park is lovely though and would return to the park, but definitely with our own food and drinks this time.

I shop here every week and as I have to wait for my daughter to finish shopping I would sit on one of the benches at the tills. These have been removed and there is nowhere for an elderly person to sit and wait. Please return these benches. Everything else is great shopping at asda pilsworth

I visited this place while having a look around the garden centre with my parents and my one year old daughter. It looked and seemed pleasant and inviting for a little refresher (cake and a brew). From the moment we walked in, as I unlatched the double doors to allow my dad to wheel our pram in and was essentially glared at by staff, it felt 'off'. We were marched, with said-pram, through a labyrinthine path of tables and chairs to the furthest point of the cafe and ordered to put the pram out of the way. No issues, I thought, got to be considerate to staff and other customers, despite us being situated in the graveyard area of the building with not another soul around, and the selected pram parking spot being on front of a fire escape. The food was quite nice, served quickly enough and without any major problems. The real issue was with the older blonde lady - a regular feature in other people's reviews, it seems - who was among the most discourteous, ignorant, obnoxious and downright rude people I've ever had the misfortune to encounter in a supposed hospitality role. As we moved to leave, my kindly 70 year old mother, from no more than two feet away, offered a polite and friendly compliment on the quality of the scone she had just eaten. 'Thank you so much' she started, to zero response. We assumed the last has just not heard' 'It was as good as it looked', she continued. Blank. Nothing. No acknowledgement or pleasantry, no forced politeness in the name of professional courtesy. The woman humiliated my mother, ignored her kind thanks and instead began talking to her colleague about what time she was going to clock off. Like my mother was not even there, let alone offering a compliment and positive feedback. It was shocking and egregious and left us all blown away at how this person can work in hospitality, and apparently have held a job for some time, judging by the dates of the other reviews. I don't know who she is, how she justifies this behaviour or how she's not been removed from the place but we won't be going back after she left a sour and ugly taste to an otherwise lovely afternoon trip out. Disgusting.

Son loves his coffee and mocha from here. Been coming here for many years but just tried the sweet stuff but now it's halal, it's great to try other alternatives. Really enjoyed it, good saver meals!!
