My self and my husband had our wedding at healds hall on June 1st 24. We instantly knew that this was the place we wanted to get married. The grounds, the decor as you walked in, how modern yet how old it felt, and most importantly the staff..everything about this venue felt right. Cara..we cannot thank you enough for every single effort you put into our wedding, you were absolutely INCREDIBLE from the very minute you became our wedding coordinator. You made us feel so important, so looked after and so comfortable all day. You went above and beyond with everything and everyone..we have had so many lovely comments about you, especially from my mum!! And we can’t thank you enough for everything you did for us❤️ Everything about our special day was amazing, the food was incredible!!! The service couldn’t have been any better, the honeymoon suit, the breakfast the morning after, the organisation of every single thing was just phenomenal. We are so unbelievably happy that we chose to get married at Healds Hall. What a beautiful day we had, a beautiful wedding and so many beautiful memories to look back on. Brilliant Sunday lunch as usual. Lovely food, and friendly efficient staff. We have been there lots of times. We don't live near, but our friends do and its their go to restaurant.

Our first visit despite being local and we were very impressed. We were spoilt for choice with the menu and enjoyed complementary homemade bread with a big slab of butter (not a packet) upon our arrival. I can highly recommend the beef featherblade which was so tender and tasty and my husband enjoyed the slow cooked lamb from the specials menu. Our waitress was lovely and made us feel very welcome. We could not fault our experience and were left wondering why we had not been sooner. Can't wait for the next visit

The PERFECT DAY!! We cannot thank Healds Hall enough for helping create our perfect wedding day. The staff, food, attention to detail was amazing. We need to give a special thank you to Matt, our day ran so smoothly. We didn’t have to think of a thing on the day as Matt had everything under control. He really is amazing at what he does and we cannot thank him enough. Anyone thinking of booking your wedding at Healds Hall, DO IT! We went for Mothering Sunday lunch and it was faultless. Service and food were first class. We have eaten there before and the staff and kitchen never fail to impress. For either dinner with loved ones or a top class function, Healds Hall leads the way.

We celebrated my mums 80th birthday here on 4 th January. There was 38 of us including 4 children. We were given a room to ourselves and had 3 course meal . We had 2 families who required halal and they were more than obliging to make sure they enjoyed the experience. The waitresses and waiter went over and above to make my mums 80th birthday an unforgettable experience . Food was of top quality anything we requested they went out of there way to oblige Would highly recommend

Have visited Healds regularly and usually very good. We booked the Christmas meal when the menu first came out and at £95/ head expected much better. As with a previous review We were in the function room which was so bright and lacked any atmosphere at all. Our table kept having to move to let people through. Service wasn’t good. No one asked what we wanted to drink so we had to go to the bar to get our own. They forgot crackers and brought them half way through meal. Liver parfait starter had 2 small pieces of brioche that wasn’t enough for the portion. Turkey came with what was a minute portion of mash hidden underneath so you couldn’t even see it, 1 pig in blanket and small ball stuffing and pulled something not sure what it was. Veg and potatoes came in a dish on the side. Well if you can call it a portion! 3 green beans, 2 sprouts, few slices of carrot, 1 burnt roast potato that nearly broke your teeth, 2 small boiled ones, no parsnips!!! Normally roasts and parsnips are put on your plate and veg served on side. No one asked if things were ok and no one in site to ask! we wanted coffees after but weren’t asked so left as just wanted to get out. Overall not a good experience and will certainly not go again at Christmas and would definitely not recommend for the price. Really need to up their game to get repeat Christmas customers!

Firstly we go regular to HH with friends and family and always really love it. Boxing Day was rather disappointing! When we booked for a party of 11 we just presumed we would be in the restaurant like we have been before when there is group of us. Instead we were in the function room, had we been told this when booking we would have not booked , it had zero atmosphere, the Christmas decorations were almost non existent apart from awful red bows tied round the chairs 🫤, it was floodlit , felt like we were in the village hall ! We had to go to the bar for our drinks when normally it is waiter service. The food was ok but not the usual standard by far ! The apple crumble was inedible, it was a bowl of mush with a tiny bit of crumble on . No one ate theres . So disappointing.

This was a family and friends birthday party. The organisation meeting with Matthew was very impressive. The flexibility and efficiency made the experience stress free.On the day the function room was well presented.The hot buffet was excellent . Throughout the day the staff were efficient and unobtrusive.

I was recommended by a work colleague, who stays here whilst travelling, to visit and try the food. To my surprise, it was a 10min drive from home and never knew about it. Booked a lovely evening meal for my husband and I to try the amazing looking menu for date night. Easy parking and it seemed quite popular with birthday and wedding parties happening - don't be put off by these happening whilst you go for a meal, we didn't see anybody from the parties just noticed balloons and decorations etc (those all seem to be very separate from the restaurant which is great when you want a romantic meal out). We were showed a temporary table near the bar whilst our table was being prepared and seated in a cosy waiting area. We had our meal in the next room and the staff were so friendly and lovely. Bar man recommended lovely wine for us and the server was warm, welcoming and couldn't do more to help us with our selections. The food was beautiful, lots of thought has gone into prepping the menu and it was delicious. We got the crispy squid tacos and beef capacious for starters and opted for the special sea bass and halibut dishes for main. Both wonderful. Highly recommend if you want a lovely meal, good wine in a romantic setting in this part of West Yorkshire.

Had lunch here twice in 3 weeks. Great food and friendly service. Everyone really enjoyed what they had ordered. One of the best restaurants in the local area.

Stayed in the hotel for the first time and decided to have an evening meal in the restaurant. Food was fantastic and accompanied by generous portion sizes and advised on which portions to have (I had mussels with sides) and followed by a delicious freshly made crumble and custard. Servers were friendly, polite and attentive and made everyone feel welcome. Served by Lucy, Cara and Betty. Would definitely recommend and visit again when in the area!

This was the best meal my husband and I have had in a long time! Reasonably priced, good selection of wines and really good food, the cauliflower in particular was so good. The staff were so lovely and the restaurant has been done up really well. Keep up the great work, we will be back!

What a great find ! Really super hotel restaurant, great service, great food, great price. Stayed over for 2 nights. The room was pretty good but it was noisy early on as our wall backed into the stairs. The food was very, very good. We had 1 evening meal an 2 breakfasts. All of it was superb, would highly recommend this place. The staff were also great, in particular the waitress, very helpful and attentive.

Living so close to a quality restaurant is an enormous stroke of luck. I'd travel twenty miles for this quality, let alone the two I drove the other weekend.My wife and i eat here often as we have been elsewhere and paid more and had poorer quality. Healds Hall is, for us, the creme de la creme in this are.We chose fish and extra vegetables and were not disappointed; the previous high standard is maintained. The wine can be a little pricey but is always good, whether bought by the glass or the bottle.Service is attentive and friendly and rarely slow, unless the function room is in full swing. The bistro is our favourite part as the restaurant is just a bit formal for our taste.This last occasion we went was on a Friday evening and, to our shock and horror, the place was almost empty. Healds Hall deserves much better attendance than this, so don't be swayed by brighter or gaudier lights elsewhere in the area, get down there. Rally to the cause and be rewarded by an excellent meal.

Three of us ate here on a recommendation. We had fish, beef and sausages. The food tasted out of this world, really really nice and was so hot. Service was amazing. The soup was yummy and served with hot bread. It is a tadge expensive but saying that the food is well worth it. You won't be disappointed. Love having a cloth serviette and tables laid also. Attended a wedding reception, greeted on arrival by polite staff, clean and modern looking décor. All throughout day/ evening were treated by very professional staff. Food was cooked to perfection and served without any long delays, tables cleared promptly.Minor incident near end of evening but dealt with by Mat in a calm and rational way. Would book again.

Although I have been before, not for a long time.. decided to call in today (gorgeous weather) with my friend, to see if we could get a meal outside. The answer was “yes” so we stayed and had dinner on the terrace. A lovely area.

My daughter and new son-in-law recently had their wedding here and I have to say the whole day was an absolute delight. Hubby and I have dined here on numerous occasions and been highly delighted with every aspect of our visit. The wedding day was out of this world from start to finish. The staff at this venue really go out of their way to accommodate every requirement and give the happy couple (and the brides mum!!) memories to treasure.

Went for Sunday Lunch with a friend. The menu was good with lots of choice but we went for the traditional - roast beef for me and roast pork for my friend. We had looked at the dessert menu and decided to pass on the starter although the ham hock terrine did look appealing. Our main courses were delicious and the meat lovely and tender. My Yorkshire Pudding was obviously homemade - no frozen Aunt Bessie's here! We both went for the ginger cake with poached rhubarb for dessert and they were to die for. The service was nice and friendly but at the same time very efficient. Would certainly come again.

I have been to a lot of Christmas parties over the last few weeks. This was superb. Food very good. Wine list excellent and sensible prices. Service friendly, professional and efficient . DJ who could read his audience and adapt accordingly. Overall excellent.

I have been staying here on and off for the last 4 years. On average it's about 15-20 weeks per year. This place is absolutely brilliant, the food is exceptional and the staff will work tirelessly to make sure you feel welcome. I can not recommend healds hall enough

We return to Heald's Hall restaurant because it can be relied upon to serve a cracking Sunday lunch. It's almost always busy on Sundays but we've never had a problem parking - I suppose the longest walk to the door will be about 100 yards. The place is welcoming. warm and very clean. Linen table cloths, glassware, crockery and cutlery are always spotless.

Booked the lunchtime tasting menu for a friend and I via Travelzoo. In the past I have been a bit disappointed by these kinds of offers at other restaurants as I have often felt a bit short-changed on the quality front. Well this was certainly NOT the case here, the whole experience was amazing! The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and the staff very friendly. Each of the 6 courses was delicious and brought out by the waiting staff at just the right pace. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy a leisurely coffee at the end of the meal. I have eaten in very good restaurants in many varied countries but I can honestly say this meal was up there as one of the best I have ever had. Full marks to the chefs and the waiting staff,

This is a hotel dining room full stop. The staff were attentive and the food what you would expect in a hotel dining room. The issue for me was atmosphere - put simply in the so-called bistro there wasn't any. The food was fine except the mussels which were poor and should have been removed from the menu - several people complained. I feel it's pricey for what it is but there again hotels do ramp up the prices to benefit from the fact that many people staying would dine in. Some of the superlatives are in my view completely OTT - still the area is hardly a gastronomic paradise.

The express lunch menu is an absolute bargain. The food is delicious and immaculately prepared. We had requested a table outside and, on arrival, found our table waiting for us in the garden area. The waiter couldn't have been more helpful and recommended meal choices.

We have been dining at this restaurant for the past few years and it never fails to deliver, sumptuous quality food and great service! The best in this part of the world. It is expensive but you would expect that for fine dining.

the quality of the food made the Express Dinner Menu a very good value option (it's right at the back of the menu book!), while if you order before 7.00pm for an extra £3.95 they will include a ½ bottle of house red, rosé or white wine (and both the red and while were very much enjoyable... rosé not tested)

We recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Healds Hall and have been delighted by every aspect, from the planning right through to the day it’s self, it has delivered all we hoped and more, I can’t fault anything. We eat in the restaurant fairly regularly and so had high expectations, expectations that were fully lived up to.

Always wanted to call in at Healds Hall Hotel but never had the time as always passing by.

We lunched here to see what was on offer prior to potentially booking a birthday lunch. We found the staff very helpful and attentive. The have a 2/3 course lunch menu, specials as well as the al a carte. The portions were good and the food was very tasty.

Little disappointed in the whole Xmas dinner experience, at around seventy pound a head i was expecting maybee to be greeted with a drink or at least a Merry Christmas, they were not sure of the table we were to be seated at and when we were seated we needed to ask for a drinks order to be taken. When the food arrived it was Ok ( actually the venison was cooked very well) however it all seemed a little rushed and the staff looked really uninterested not what i expected as the reviews have always been good.

It is that time of year again & as with all previous visits the food was fantastic. As a party of 8 we decided to dine from the Christmas set menu. A good choice of starters, mains & desserts is on offer finished off with hot mince pies. We have been coming here for many years & the food has never disappointed, the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere & the staff are all very polite. We always look forward to eating here.

We went with friends and had the six course taster menu. My friend and I both didn't fancy the pigeon breast in the third course. We mentioned it and they willing changed it to chicken. We all enjoyed every course. "Him" was blown away by the ox, which was done three ways. It was a fabulous meal and all four of us really enjoyed it. "Him" and I had been to a Michelin starred restaurant on Wednesday and this was really close. Dining room is a little old fashioned, but comfortable. Fantastic evening. We will be returning soon.

Healds Hall is set back from the main road and so easy to miss if your not local, Set in lovely grounds this historical building is a lovely setting to go for something nice to eat! Service is always on point and the food is of a very high standard. I have been going to Healds Hall for years and have never had an issue. Give them a try.

The lunch time express menu is excellent value and one that changes regularly can recommend it and the service is friendly .

Tucked away just off the Birstall Liversedge road is the Healds Hall hotel. A reasonably priced lunch with very good quality food was on offer with a wine list with something to suit all bar the most demanding. Weddings and more formal parties were in evidence and this did affect the speed of service, especially taking the order and offering the bill. (Only one person seemed authorised to do these tasks. ) The wait was not that bad but just enough to irritate when all else was of a high standard. The level of food and it's preparation was of a high standard and deserves especial mention. Perhaps another waiter with money taking authority might help iron out the hiccup?

We decided to book a table for 16 guests in the Restaurant at this hotel to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and it turned out to be an inspired decision. We were greeted cheerfully and politely by the staff on duty and spent a pleasant 45 mins in the bar just socialising until we were asked to choose our food. Because the Hotel was very busy with a wedding we were offered a range of choices from the A La Carte menu with seven dishes to select from for each course.Once the food had been ordered we were quickly led to our table to receive the starters and the main courses followed without undue delay as were the desserts and coffee. The food was superb and the level of service from the busy staff was second to none. All in all our party were looked after exceptionally well and we would definitely recommend another visit.

Another beautiful meal enjoyed with my family at Healds Hall, celebrating my Grandad's birthday back in February. We ate in the restaurant, which was strangely quiet, despite it being a Sunday lunchtime. Service was very quick and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly with my grandparents who both struggle with mobility these days. Everyone ate from the Sunday lunch menu, which is very reasonably priced for the exquisite standard of food you receive. I enjoyed a lovely refreshing melon trio to start, followed by the roast lamb, which was beautifully cooked and presented. The portions are always decent here (no little scraps draped across the plate) but still have great attention to detail and flavour.As always, a very enjoyable dining experience.

This is a very nice hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The room was warm and comfortable with a very nice en-suite. The only negative was the toilet was not completely clean which I found off-putting. There was tea/coffee making facilities and getting extra supplies was not a problem. Breakfast was good though it finishes earlier that I am used to at 9 am.We had travelled to Yorkshire for a family funeral and the funeral tea was also at Heald's Hall. The food was excellent as was the service, the staff couldn't do enough for the family. All in all it was a very nice stay and I would happily recommend.

My husband had the lamb which was cooked to perfection, pink in the middle and chargrilled. I had the crispy belly pork which was also excellent, as were the accompanying vegetables for both dishes. (The home made bread is also very special.) The prices are high for both food and drinks and one slight irritation was that I had a 175 wine and was charged for a 250. This was rectified when we mentioned it but more care should be taken to get it right. One course and drinks worked out at £30 per person which is pricey but their food really is great!

Went for first time last night in a party of seven for a family birthday and none of us were disappointed. Everyone enjoyed everything they ordered and the staff were good with advising me about what I could have due to my coeliac disease.I opted for the roast chicken breast and it was by far the tastiest I've ever had! Three in our party chose the feather blade of beef and none were disappointed.The place itself was very nice and there was ample car parking space.A good choice...

Better late than never review. Christmas dinner well tea really, dined at 4 drinks in the bar first very relaxing, 3 adults, warm welcome from friendly staff, brilliant atmosphere. Service excellent,efficient,friendly. Food amazing, hot, lots of it, well cooked, well presented. Christmas pud bit disappointing, over microwaved, overall I forgive Lol!. The manager ( very friendly chap) ran a very efficient team but in a low key way. We will certainly go back for Sunday lunch. Went here with a party of about 40 after a funeral. There seemed to be a couple of other lunchtime "do's" on just after us. The food we had was ok - nothing wrong with it - but nothing made it stand out. Open "sandwiches" (small slices of crusty bread with minimalist toppings), cheese and tomato pizza cremated (pardon the pun!) to within an inch of its life so it was unrecognisable, chicken portions, a herd of pork pies (at least half of which got left), various "square loaf" sandwiches, some chips which had a slight "old oil" flavour, and some cakes.Overall people ate a reasonable amount but whilst it was ok the food had the character of the hotel - a bit of stuck in a time warp of days when people thought it was a bit posh. Seems a strange place for a hotel/restaurant anyway - I mean Liversedge of all places - it kinda suits the Marks and Sparks/Plus Fours brigade I guess, expensive and safe.Give it a try - you might like it. Staff were friendly and helpful which is always a bonus!

My friends and I visited here in late December 2016 for a "Christmas Do". Catering for large groups is not easy but the hotel made it look simple, the food was tasty and hot and the service was fast.The DJ had everyone up dancing throughout the evening (I danced off the calories from my Christmas dinner) and the drinks prices were not excessive.I would recommend.

As a party of 12 we have just enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch. We had a mixture of starters, mains & desserts & the entire table agreed they were all delicious. The food is all freshly cooked & presented very well. The staff are always courteous & the overall atmosphere is very relaxed. We have been coming here for many years & have not once been disappointed. We are back again this Friday & I am looking forward to enjoying another fantastic dining experience.

Recently, my friend and I had the tasting menu at the Healds hall hotel. Honestly, it was poor. We found the majority of the courses to be bland (although when served a potato soup just thickened and seasoned with flour, what were we to expect) and oddly paired.However, the food was not the aspect that left the worst taste in our mouths. In the pigeon breast course we discovered, only once in my mouth, that the bullet was still firmly lodged in the meat.Now this was understandable as the pigeon was 'locally shot' however, we were not informed that this could potentially be in our food prior to being served. To add insult to injury, when we spoke to two separate members of staff they simply laughed it off and said, that this happens often and all they can do is apologise....no, what you can do it warn me prior to me eating it, or provide me with another course which may not have a chunk of metal in it.Overall, we were very disappointed, the food was very average, which was not at all representative of the price. The service was very quick although they did not deal with our issue very well at all and leading us to feel extremely unimportant. We will not be returning.

Popped over to Healds hall for a belated birthday meal. Immediately made to feel welcome by the waiter and quickly shown to our table. Prompt and informative service throughout the meal started at 7.30 and we didn't finish till 9pm. All dishes are small hence the tasting element of the menu. The highlight for me was the mini beef fillet - cooked to perfection with a taste to match. We will definitely look for a similar offer in the new year and take friends with us to experience the whole ambience of the evening. It was well worth the hours drive and 80 plus miles round trip. Not every day you can go to a restaurant and chat about football in Doncaster in the 1980s. ⚽️

We stayed here for one night, wish it could have been more! The food is amazing. There is a very long menu with specials. On the night we were there I had the whole jointed partridge, it was juicy and flavourful and I could have eaten a whole bowl of the parsnip puree, the sauce with puy lentils was full of flavour. Hubby had a perfectly cooked loin of cod with scallop and razor clam with lobster sauce and pronounced it excellent. We went for the cheeseboard after dithering over the very appealing dessert menu. The cheeses were all really good and the variety of crackers fresh and crisp. The wines by the glass were very good especially the Prosecco. I think it deserves more than its current 3 rosettes. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and ensured that Hubby's main did not contain any chilli, paprika etc as he has an allergy to them. Highly recommended.

It's some time ago since my last visit to the Bistro in the=is local hotel but I and my party were not at all disappointed. Three of us selected dishes from the Express Lunch menu which included starters of Crab on Toast, Spicy Pepper and Lentil Soup, followed by main courses of Belly Pork and Black Pudding and a Fillet of Sea Bass all served with a selection of fresh vegetables. The other person in our party elected to have two Starters which were: White Onion Soup followed by grilled Red Atlantic prawns. We ended the meal with selections from the Dessert Menu plus coffee and mints.All of the dishes were beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and brought to us by very attentive and efficient staff.

Booked this hotel when it was half price, wouldn't have paid full price. Nice clean room, good shower. Breakfast was okay, friend was vegetarian so asked for 3 items which were presented in usual quantity of full breakfast. Quarter of a mushroom looked very sad in middle of breakfast plate with half a tomato and a few beans. Extra beans were given on request.

Absolutely gorgeous food. Loved it...defo coming back soon with other family. Friendly staff, modern, warm and welcoming. Menu is varied and always updated with specials of the day. Cannot find a fault.
