Placed my order for 5 fish and chips only to be told when it came to pay they only took cash. I haven’t carried cash for 5 years. In a world where many organisations (wrongly in my opinion) are cashless it seems very odd that this establishment won’t take cards. Had to leave without our meal as I only had my phone didn’t have a card to get cash. Won’t be back unless they start to accept card payment on phone.

Where to start... Really really soggy chips. Not sure if it's the lined chip bag (which is a nice idea and sits well in the hand) or lack of cooking. No, on reflection it's the poor cooking. New potatoes have just arrived and to serve them this way is a crime! The cod bites (served separately to the chips) were plentiful, good value and tasty but sadly escaped the attention of the salt and vinegar. That may be just as well as the vinegar is so diluted it could be used as eye drops. The crispy pancake roll was crispy and tasty but also condiment free and finally the saveloy, meaty and lukewarm. However, the worst thing is seeing 5 members of staff (7 if you include one of the staff's fake eyelashes) be so unproductive. Getting in each others way and only really the guy frying (maybe soft boiling is more accurate) the chips and the older woman actually doing anything. 1 stood aimlessly at the till, another just getting in the way and the final one reading out the order for the gaggle of waiting customers. I asked if they were new to this and was told they'd been doing it 2 years. That, on reflection, is not 2 years experience but 2 years of repeating the first day over and over.

The food was undercooked and tasted awful! When I complained, one member of staff told me to ‘get lost and go elsewhere’.

Why do most fish and chip shops find it so hard to make anything crispy. Fish was nice but inside greasy undercooked batter and the pale soggy chips all clumped together. Not great plus the owner told the two girls off for talking to customer. Not good for customer service.

Front of house/counter staff really nice .the cook is terrible. We had a savolys = cold ."Freash cooked" large cod which had no insides and was double battered and cooked really rough ,but you do get plenty of oil with it .Cash only ? Vat anyone . Well needless to say we will not be going back.the chips are interesting the whitest soakie chips I have seen for a long time and you do not need a folk as they all stick together.shame counter staff a really nice .

No Gluten free, I was told they did it! I know its not there fault , maybe they should consider doing it

Must be new owners......friendly staff! Great fish and chips. ( crispy batter and real potatoes ) ..and all the other things we now expect from a fish and chip shop.

Absolutely terrible! Greasy, aneamic chips and precooked sausage in batter that was reheated again. Sausages were cheap and nasty. Altogether ghastly! Won't be back!

The best fish and chips I have ever tasted proper cod fillets not cheaply pollock!! crispy golden batter so much meat in the fish fillets. The chips lovely and fresh and the vinega is proper vinega not watered down or sarson!! Makes all the difference very clean and welcoming staff. Amazing!! Very good price wise some places are very expensive and you hardly get any food. We had enough to feed many! The manger is a lovely girl always has a chat and happy. Couldn’t ask for a better chippy in the village.

Ordered cod and chips for four people by phone. Ready to go when I arrived, they were perfect, fish fresh and chips crispy. Great value, freindly and helpful staff. Definitely recommended.

Well I have visited many many chip shops in the past and have had one clear winner for many years but today this all changed. Feeling peckish on our way through Headcorn we stopped as it was easy to park and ordered cod and chips twice. The day was beautiful so we sat in a meadow and ate them and I'm sooo impressed. The batter was lovely not greasy and the cod was huge pieces of white cod flakes. Tasted so lovely. Chips lately never seem to taste like they used to but these were done perfectly and made it the best best fish and chips we've had for years. Very impressed

We keep going back, big portions, beautiful fish, crispy batter, a wealth of chips. Best in the area(and there are some good ones around!)

I have just had cod roe and chips from here. The chips left a lot to be desired. Mainly, I beleve that was for the bin. Dry and curled up. Just old. The cod roe looked ok but it did not taste very fresh. Could just be my tastebuds. On the flip side. I have not had a bad meal there before. Could just be the virus etc.

If you haven’t visited in a few years you need to - it changed hands a while back and no longer serves up greasy , soggy chips! Freshly cooked fish and chips - they will happily wrap up the fish separately to the chips so that nothing goes soggy ! Crisp batter is lovely .

Great fish and chips every time no skin just white flaks of perfectly cooked cod. Bubbles of crispy batter. Chips fryed just right and a friendly welcome what more do you need.

Two of us had two portions of cod and chips here, the fish was white and fleshy with good batter however the chips could have been cooked a few more minutes as rather were a little soft. The chippy was popular though with many local regular customers coming as we were eating in the seating area.

Brilliant, we ordered by phone and we had a lovely chicken and chips that I asked to be cooked extra crispy that was no issue. Reasonably priced, we will be back.

The young Lady Supervisor always helpful & friendly knows my order by know . The only fish & chip we use all ways good and tasty

I have on many occasions had fish and chips from McCoys and I have always been delighted with the freshness, flakey white fish, beautifully cooked, generous portions and indeed thoroughly unbeatable in this entire area. I couldnt recommend McCoys more.

I ordered a large cod, small chips and two pieces of Southern fried Chicken. I walked home ( five minutes) the food was cold and the chips had just been blanched, not cooked. Very disappointing as I’ve eaten here before

I've had fish and chips here several times and they have always been excellent. It's all cooked to order and the fish has been fresh and succulent. The chips are also cooked perfectly.

Popped in for some lunch, I had a battered sausage and chips my partner had southern fried chicken and chips, we also got some onion rings and a curry sauce to share. The chips were cooked to perfection( I'm very picky with chips) my battered sausage was amazing, uniform batter over the whole sausage and not greasy, onion rings very nice and the curry sauce had a sort of fruity flavour which was different but very nice. My partners southern fried chicken was lovely and crisp on the outside and succulent on the inside. Highly recommend McCoys!!!

Great Fish 'n' Chips. The food is always delicious and the staff are always helpful and friendly. One of the best fish n chip takeaways in the area.

We visit this chip shop every couple of weeks ! We normally take our food to the airfield so the kids can run around! Food is aways on form !! My only advice would be to reopen on Sundays 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Been here several times and always had a good value for money meal. This is not a restaurant. Just straight forward fish and chips plus chicken saveloys etc.

Staying with friends in Staplehurst and after a day out we picked up come fish and chips on our way back. Very tasty and nice and hot and large portions, we could not eat all ours so our friends cat had a lovely fish treat too.

We took the mother in law for fish and chips and ate them at the airfield nearby. The chips were lovely and the plaice was a good portion. We would definitely eat from there again. thepoutscampervantravels.com

We think this is the best fish and chip shop! The chips are never dry, always just right. The batter is always crisp not soggy. There is a great choice of fish and other meals. It is clean and open long hours! Good value for money. Love the fish bites!

Fabulous fish and delicious freshly cooked chips. They even have pineapple fritters on the excellent menu. Good value and totally yummy!

Went into McCoys fish and chip shop yesterday and although the the staff were polite the food was a big let down the Savaloy was only warm and the chips were the worst I've ever had they were put into a bag and when opened up they were more like mashed potato had trouble picking up individual chips I don't think they were over cooked as they had no colour

I've eaten here many times - I'm local. Good fish and chips. Nothing amazing, but very good and tasty. Not sure what else I can say!

When we pasdrd by ans discovered that this pkace was open Sundays we decided that as we were on holiday we would have fish and chips for Sunday dinner! First time we had ever done that. The fish (cod) was superb, light and crispy Bayer and best if all, no skin! Good were really good too. Unfortunately we visited again later in the week and had fish cakes and chips, which were nowhere near as good as on the Sunday. The fish cakes were thin and rather dry and the chips were undercooked. Such a shame the quality was not consistent.

We've used this chippy a few times (after giving up with our most local one) and the food has always been good. The portions are a decent size and the food has always been piping hot.

It is so good to have a Fish and Chip shop in a village serving good quality food. Apart from villagers in serves passers by, being located within the high street on the A274 road. Food is cooked to order and served by efficient and friendly staff. The whole area is kept very clean at all time. I would recommend a visit. There is limited seating available, as the main business is take away.

Great fish & Chips and a variety of choice on menu, quick and polite service. Local to me so visit a couple of times a month.

Very good quality, freshly cooked and good value. Usually beautiful large flakes of cod with great batter cooked perfectly! Order the large cod and you will not be disappointed
