Love the fish and chips from here.

I ordered fish and chips, fish was small, old, tast like cardboard , chips not much better, all medium size and pay 11£ definitely not recommended!!

Go every Saturday evening to collect my mother's fish and chips. They are always lovely and hot , ready and waiting for me and the owners and staff are so welcoming and lovely.

Decent size portions, quite tasty and a decent price

Collected multiple items from the menu now and each time things are cooked fresh and tasted perfect every time!

Service, very good. Shop looked clean. The day we visited, we ordered several fish & chips, peas & curry sauce. Although the food was hot, the chips looked a little pale but did taste ok. Fish was ok, but the batter was very greasy. The peas & curry sauce were too watery. So, unfortunately, some of it wasn't eaten.

Superb fish n chips! A group of non locals treated to some village hospitality, a large order taken, prepared and dispensed with efficiency and courtesy! Wonderful service.

Wow - £3.80 for what is claimed as a large portion of chips - I’m all for inflation but seriously …….

Pleasant staff, chips were ok but the cod in batter was awful, I ate 2 mouthfuls and left the rest. The fryer temperature needs increasing - the batter was soggy and very oily, with a strange taste.

Went to shop approximately 5pm last Friday and spent £60 on large fish and chips order. The food was inedible for all of us. I can eat almost anything but the fish (large cods) were inedible with tough, chewy batter and tasteless fish. Strongly suspect that it was recooked from lunchtime or even earlier. The chips didn't taste fresh either. Real pity as previous takeaways have been good

Prices have gone up and portions got smaller shame always used it but think will have to find another chips shop

Had a pie and chips at same ordered fish. . Which was a 10 minute wait . The pie was baged up with chips and put in the warmer while fish cooked . Time we walked out door with our order the pie had been in warmer for 15 mins . .when we unwrapped to eat ,the pie was stone cold and the fish was swimming in grease. Not nice 😕

Always good quality take away. Are being very safe with limiting number of customers inside at any one time.

Some of our order was missing, didn't find this out until back home. Sorry, won't be using again. I understand that mistakes happen but basic level of service is to ensure you don't leave someone without their dinner!

I asked for a large portion of chips, he asked if i wanted salt and vinegar i replied yes please he said £3 gave it to him and he pulled out a already wrapped portion of chips and gave them to me. I said no thank you i would like fresh ones he said there not yesterdays i replied but i would like fresh ones as i don't know how long they have been there. He gave me my £3 back and said go on get out go. I said you are a very rude man. My mum and dad use them every week but not anymore. Absolutely disgusting manners.

Good size portions My only criticism (and this is true of EVERY CHIP SHOP) is that the fresh chips are best. Getting home and having dry firm chips is always a disappointment but thankfully its not often.

My Dad is from the north it's very hard for me to get him good fish and chips from anywhere but from up north lol but he was very happy with Hawking's Fish Bar saying that is the best fish and chips I have had in a long time, it's heart to to cook fish and chips and he as got it. That is what my Dad said and he is a very hard man to please! He is now 75 years old bless him .

Only had sausage in batter and chips but it was hot and very nice!!

Great fish and chips, recommended by the Caravan Club campsite just down the road at Densole, so just a few minutes drive but worth it. 2x Haddock and a large portion of chips proved a little to much as we couldn't manage them all. Recommended 😁

Friendly service right from the order taken on the phone to reception and service in the fish bar. Usually order cod ..the sizes and the batter quality do tend to vary a little but in general the food is always fresh and tasty. Chips are always shovelled out into your order and usually too many! If that is the only criticism then they must be doing things right.

Friendly staff and a decent serving of fish and chips. The paper is that the fish comes in is a bit too greasy, otherwise we would have awarded a 5.

This little fish and chip shop had really friendly young lady serving who was helpful and our food was cooked fresh. The fish was amazing fell to pieces melted in your mouth. Best piece of fish I’ve had since I was in wales in the summer.

Always a friendly greeting. Freshly cooked with generous portions. Individually wrapped so unwrapping is easier and fish not stuck to paper. Parking outside is usually ok. Come here when in area.

Food taste good, service not great was going to order wrong until I told them the right thing and for the 2nd time after getting home pickled egg had been forgotten even tho it was wrighten down and payed for!

Nice place... I have met the Cod father I asked him were he was from his answer was at the corner plaice. Very nice people polite clean and honest... A place to go for taking away a real fish and chips.

Stopped here while passing through Hawking's got three cod and chips we all thought that that were over priced and not that good

The best fish bar ever used to be terrible now it is amazing chips are perfect and fish is never greasy or or hanging about!!!!!

It doesn't look much of a place the the quality and quantity of cod and chips was very good. By and large the food is cooked whilst you wait

Visited as we thought a takeaway would be easier and a nice treat for everyone. Chips were very nice however my battered sausage was awful and tasted burnt and my sons small unbattered sausage looked horrible and appeared to be very poor quality.

This is a good Fish and Chip shop, lots of choice on the menu. The food tastes good and the staff are friendly. The only annoying thing is that everytime I go in there it seems to be plagued by drunk teeny boppers 13 - 16 year olds I'd guess. Feel sorry for the owners as it must put people off going in there.

We visited on a Tuesday and the food cabinet was empty so food cooked fresh, by the time we got it back it was warm but certainly not hot. It’s was ok, chips were nice and not greasy. We would eat from there again

Had a medium portion of Haddock & Chips for Mrs P & I to share. Plenty of fish for 2 pensioners and loads of chips too. Excellent value for money.

Lovely people great fish and chips and everything else

I often visit here. As my husband and I don't have very large appetites we find that the small cod and chips is enough for the two of us to share. It is also possible to phone your order through in advance which is very convenient.

Very rude staff, unfriendly to the point of being ''cocky'' Awful chips so greasy almost would give you a heart attack just looking at them. AVOID.... at all costs

Small portions and Large chips are only the size of normal chips anywhere else very disappointing food from here especially as we are local.

Popped in to grab cod and chips on the way home. Chips were good, but the cod was dripping with grease. It was actually soaking through the bag when I got home and started running down the side of the kitchen unit when I put the bag down. Although the price was reasonable and everyone was friendly, I won't be going there again.

Good chippy with a fairly standard but reasonably priced selection. Won't alter your perception of reality but will fill you up and leave change in your pocket.

Good portion sizes. The staff are so polite and helpful. Service was quick. Very impressed! Recommend!

Chips need doing a bit longer as per the other review, but the fish and batter was pretty good. They need to stop putting it in plastic bags as when you get it home its all soggy and steamed. Reasonably priced, good portion sizes.

Very friendly staff, nice food, perfect take away fare and right on our doorstep, asked for something not on the menu and they didn't hesitate to accommodate what we wanted.

Batter a bit oily and wet, chips could do with cooking longer.
