Beautiful decor and warm welcoming staff. Food was great.

Great little suntrap and dog friendly! Fully recommend the sharers, perfect for two when you're not quite hungry enough for a meal but still fancy picky bits. Will be back again soon

Lovely Friday night Dinner with the family with excellent, attentive service. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Cane in for a late dinner on a Sunday over Easter because there was also Karaoke which we love (watching not singing) 🤪 Both had a Signature Burger and I had extra side of mushrooms and asked for them inside my burger. Staff were very accommodating about that and sliced them up and checked if we both had any allergies which was nice. Burgers were lovely and seasoned fries were hot and well seasoned Really great early supper and great fun night. Definitely recommend the Burgers. Staff were so on the ball too.

Literally can’t complain about a single thing! I’m a hatherley born lad who’s known this pub since it was the 3 crowns, came and ate not long after the refurb although appreciate this was a while ago, had amazing food then. Read recent reviews about the dip in quality, however decided to come and eat this evening with the mrs and 2 kids. On entering, the atmosphere was welcoming coupled with great service from the bar staff, kids were happy with the small play frame in the garden, as were we as I believe a minimal playing apparatus is more than adequate and more importantly keeps the kids occupied. I had the katsu chicken (faultless! Great flavour and more than decent portion size) we also shared a range of starters… mushrooms In a cheese sauce, halloumi fries, cauliflower bits (can’t remember the real name but they were amazing!). All the portion sizes were spot on if not generous and great prices! Would expect to pay alot more for the quality elsewhere! Big thanks to Jess and the lad behind the bar. Spot on Overall a great experience and will defo be returning 👍

Great pub, great locals, and they have different sports on to watch, they have a good selection of drinks for everyone, the garden seating area is a must in the warmer weather. The food is good, its a good all round pub. The only thing I would say is when it's busy there is not enough people serving drinks.

Staff were very helpful and hard working to provide an evening to remember on the day of our wedding, kitchen staff made the best food, and everyone was happy which made it more relaxing for my wife and I to enjoy

We had 20+ guests to meet us at the Hatherley after we got married, the staff were so attentive and happy throughout, kitchen staff were amazing and provided a fantastic buffet, vegan options were available, we and our guests were so happy, it was exactly how we wanted it and so laid back and the kids enjoyed every minute, thank you

Food always amazing. No complaints about the food, it is the service! We duly waited to be 'greeted' (there were 3 staff at the bar chatting in front of us- finished their conversation before being acknowledged) We sat for table service, were given the menus and were left without even asking if we would like a drink whilst pondering over the menu. We just seemed to be forgotten and had to ask when coming back from the loo if we could order 15mins later. Starter to main took a while too. Gave up for dessert as would have still been there. I am all for a relaxed time while eating out but this did border on slow. We had to pay at the bar in the end, even then the person behind the bar was putting glasses away in preference to serving us, which I found rather rude!

I was with a party of about 12 people. We had pre-ordered. We were all served together, I had lamb shank with mashed potatoes followed by Eaton mess both reasonable price, and excellent ly prepared

Had a Lovely meal. Starters Chicken strips Main Fish and chips and my Favourite Sticky toffee pudding. Every course was Delicious and staff Friendly and helpful. Pub is local to us and is popular.

Waiting time too long...not even busy..steak was chewy..spending £20 on that...food probably out of packets and not freshly made...don't bother to go...over priced rubbish

The staff here are extremely unwelcoming. This is the second time I’ve experienced poor service. If a customer has been waiting a long time to order, a simple “I’ll be with you in a minute” would go a long way instead of ignoring them. I even returned to my seat, and the staff member still didn’t acknowledge me.

Had a lovely lunch time meal for my Birthday. Elliott was a good host and looked after us and good service.

Firstly the staff were first class. The food was just okay. The music was way too loud and didn’t really make for relaxed lunch.

Superb. I wasn’t expecting much for Christmas Day but I was wrong. The restaurant was full which always makes a Christmas experience and shows people trust the pub and food, so first tick. Service seemed very slow but again when it came to eating it was made perfect so that the gap between courses was spot on. The food was delicious and hot ,only downside was no sprouts (always always sprouts with Christmas dinner) but it didn’t stop me enjoying the meal. I cannot fault our Christmas meal at The Hatherley we were staying nearby for the holiday so as I say wasn’t expecting much, but to be honest I have not had a bad meal with this chain. We will definitely be back to this pub when we are in Cheltenham again, and big thank you to Chad and the team that looked after us 🙏

Great atmosphere on Christmas day. Staff were working exceptionally hard in what must have been very stressful conditions as the pub was packed. Just want to say a big thank you to them all. We had a lovely start to our festive day!

Having decided to treat the family to a stress free Christmas dinner, I would like to make a strong recommendation to anyone planning on going for dinner to the Hatherley next year. Make sure you eat plenty of food just before you go because we were waiting for over one hour fourty five minutes from when we sat for food to when we had our mains delivered and when it was it was undrr cooked and some of it cold. There were no reasons and no excuses given just very poor service. Definitely will not be going again.

Food has dropped in quality and for the time waiting for it to come, I expected better. For a bacon cheese burger I would expect at least 1 full bit of bacon, burger on the whole was good and the hunter chicken was rubbery and tough.

Preordered and deposit paid Christmas dinner was badly managed. Salmon and lemon tart weren’t available on the day, double steak order was single steak, veg burger didn’t turn up, when we asked for it they brought a meat burger. 3 course meal were ordered but we only had 2 course. Vegetarian had only a starter, and he went home hungry and angry. Roast Turkey dinner presentation was terrible and didn’t taste nice. Wasn’t enough vegetables. The meal came out all different timings so some finished while some were still waiting for theirs. We felt they have broken the contract. They didn’t give us food and service they supposed to give us. At the end, they only gave us 15% off the bill. Can’t believe they even took money off us after that!

We went there on the 25th 12.30 for an over 60s Xmas meal the food was appalling shredded meat, hard potatoes, flat Yorkshire, rubbery cauliflower sprouts like bullets ,under cooked pigs in blankets and it was only tepid when it arrived very poor Mrs Jane Allen

I came here today for a family meal and we had a lovely girl, Holly, serve us. She was really helpful and attentive. We do plan to come back here soon especially for the new Christmas menu

A lovely visit. I was pleased to see the Christmas food menu was available already. The lovely person who served me described having had the chance to taste the menu, earlier in the month, and she was very enthusiastic. I had the stuffing crowns and thoroughly enjoyed them. I accessed WiFi and, by sharing my email address, was offered a 2-4-1 voucher for Birra Moretti. I'm really impressed, thank you. Perhaps an AF option could have been offered too, but I was on foot and very happy to accept my free pint! I visited alone, to read and do some work. It's so nice to feel safe and welcomed, as a single woman. The staff are very kind and warm. The atmosphere was lovely - just the right balance of buzzy but not rushed or chaotic.

My family went for the Sunday roast. We booked well in advance. Arrived at 1pm. We finally received our meal at 2:20... this wait was the most disappointing thing about the meal. The food itself was pretty good, but the gravy was extremely salty 🧂. The pub itself is beautiful and has a lovely garden.

I consider myself so lucky to live in walking distance to The Hatherley. To have a friendly, community pub on the doorstep with fantastic staff , Chad and Megan are particularly welcoming and always so friendly and chatty. It’s still reasonably priced for drinks and food. I know me and my friends will continue to use this pub for a long time coming.

I visit The Hatherley quite a lot on my way home from work just to wind down after a busy kitchen shift. I came in today about 19:00 to meet some friends - we had a few drinks and a great chat. Service behind the bar was fantastic - very welcoming from 2 bar staff Ethan and Heidi and not a long weight at all. I think Heidi was on her own whilst Ethan had a break but still really prompt service with a smile from Heidi And other staff dressing Christmas trees was a sobering sight but lovely too Had a great evening thank you all

Only one staff member working the bar on a Friday evening other staff underage so unable to assist many people gave up and left I'm hearing they were told to cut staff hours by 100 per week not the best business decision...

Pub was refurbished last year. Good atmosphere, value for money, friendly service. Fairly routine pub food but well presented, served in a short time and tasted good.

We went to The Hatherley for a buffet family get together to celebrate the passing of my Mother's life, which we arranged in advance with Megan. We were so well looked after by Megan and the team on the day and the buffet was excellent. There was plenty of food, very fresh and well presented, more than enough for everyone. Would definitely recommend and use the Hatherley Inn again.

Great place! Sunday lunch mid afternoon. Beef was lovely and tender and plenty of vegetables.

Party of 13 including children. We pre ordered and our server Elliot was very attentive wanting to make sure our order was still correct. He was great humouring my son who was being a bit fussy and wanting attention regarding his food. Service was excellent. Food was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

It's my local, only 10 minutes walk away. It has a lovely quiet beer garden, The landlady runs the place extremely well & won't tolerate any kind of trouble & doesn't hesitate to ban anyone who tries it on. Food is always excellent & served hot or nice and fresh. Excellent, well kept Ale's, & staff are always friendly & helpful. Very dog friendly. There are many people running pubs that are reporting that all the energy price increases, along with people reigning in spending & not going to pubs, that they are now in a worse position than in the Pandemic & fear bankruptcy. My last visit, with Wife, Daughter & little Grandaughter, at Sunday lunchtime, found the Hatherley much quieter than usual for this, normally busy period. Support your favourite local, even if it's just a pint a week you can afford. Would hate to lose the Hatherley. 🖖🌈 Edit. Hatherley has been refurbished & new people in charge. Food is now god awful & order's frequently mixed up or go wrong with missing items. Still good for a pint but we don't eat there anymore. You need to raise your game.

Came for lunch to catch up with a friend, service was speedy, staff and management were lovely and professional ! Food was absolutely brilliant - fully recommend the snitzel as that sauce is delicious! Good selection of spirits, will be returning

We took a friend here for a trip down memory lane as she used to live right next by it! It was a lovely, relaxing place to meet up and the staff were warm and friendly. Unfortunately the food was rather on the disappointing side. My lasagne did arrive piping hot, but was rather salty and on the thin side. The “big salad” accompanying it was completely underwhelming, consisting mainly of tired looking salad leaves and not very appetising at all. My husband’s fish and chips were pretty dreadful, being small, dry and over cooked. Our friends’s scampi portion was rather meagre, as were the bits of scampi themselves - she said they were more like prawns ! So unfortunately the food rather put a damper on things. On the plus side, the staff were lovely.

We booked an afternoon tea for 24/08/24 and arrived to a nicely decorated table. The staff were extremely helpful and could not do enough for us. The sandwiches and cakes were a lovely mix washed down by Prosecco and a nice coffee to finish. Many thanks to Megan and team - everyone should enjoy an Afternoon Tea at the Hatherley!

Meat on the roast dinner was very dry, frozen roast potatoes. Churros on the dessert menu were inedible would avoid them. Good service and nice atmosphere just disappointing food

On our recent visit the staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular to our wheelchair user and praised us for our well behaved dog. The food was very good although we thought the veg (peas) portion was rather small. There was a vast range of drinks including low alcohol offering. We will return again.

We took some friends for lunch a few days ago and sorry to say the experience was not brilliant. We seemed to have to wait a long time for main and the dessert course was even longer, also the ice creams had started to melt. Our coffees came before the dessert and were lukewarm too. While one person was well catered for with gluten free and the others had good meals, mine was awful! The lasagne was over cooked, the rocket limp and some was slimy, the focaccia was inedible and like a brick! My husband told a member of staff and the bread was replaced. My dessert was served in a bowl with ingrained hot food on the edges, not too pleasant. Needless to say our friends were not too impressed and we felt embarrassed at our choice of venue. I think the food had been left possibly too long before being brought to the table. Such a shame as the restaurant is a pleasant place to sit and eat.

Food was good as usual and for the most part the staff were welcoming and friendly. There is one member of staff in particular who has let down our experience on more than one occasion from just being rather rude, unable to smile and often also rude to other staff members where customers can hear. Quite a short lady with glasses, I believe her name is Megan. I did mention this to another staff member who apologised and offered us some promotion on our meal. 09/08/2024

We come annually as an extended family with 25-30 people and book out the raised platform area. Great service where they serve everyone by name (pre-ordered meals), and very friendly and helpful staff. We were assisted by Elliot, Chad and Jake today who were extremely helpful

We were a group of 24 celebrating a birthday and had had the reservation for months, the service provided on the day was outstanding. The kind staff did their best to ensure everything went smoothly before and after the meal. The food was cooked so well and in good time even though they expressed they had limited chefs in the kitchen. There were always members of staff available at the bar and made drinks efficiently. We felt very welcomed, a great atmosphere and a lovely meal.
