Extremely poor service due to a surly, abrupt to the point of rudeness, female member of staff. Non itemised bill due to a faulty printer made it awkward to decline service charge if it had been applied. Food would have been enjoyable if the sourdough had not been incinerated at the edges. The worst part was the poor service.

Incredibly popular place with queues of people just looking to get a takeaway coffee/baked good and every inch of seating filled! If the sausage rolls and almond croissants were anything to go by I think the quality of the food there is exceptional. Highly recommend but beware it is quite pricey

Popped in here as it was just around the corner from my dentist. What a discovery. The greeting was welcoming and the full English breakfast is, quite possibly, the tastiest I have ever had. The home made baked beans were awesome. The latte was excellent.

Spoilt for choice. We ended up going for elevenses and chose two pastries to share. The coffee, food and atmosphere were perfect. Great place to catch up with family or friends. We had the Chelsea bun and almond croissant. We were not disappointed. Would have ordered more but it was just enough for two of us. On my next visit I will have a hot breakfast. We sat outside as the weather was lovely and hot. The vibe for 11am was great. It was lively but not too noisey.

The food is delicious but they ALWAYS get the order wrong. I’ve been eating here about 3 years. We order pretty straightforwardly (no dietary requirements, max group size 4). Been a few months since last visit and returned to area just walking-in. Again felt welcomed. Not as busy so no wait before being ushered to seats …this time upstairs. (No lift, so probably not accessible if mobility issues in your party). Personally loved the space and atmosphere (+1) ..similar to an open plan kitchen with a massive island BUT MINUS the kitchen lol. Would make a great area for a large group. Again coffees and food were to my liking and deserves another exceptional mention for the kitchen team 👌 Was able to enjoy our food and group conversations this time around. Felt relaxed and unrushed ….which makes it a 5* ❤️ overall rating in my brunch category. Will recommend and return.

The Baker and Graze opts for a ‘no laptop’ policy. For those of us working on scripts for the forthcoming episode of the YouTube smash, Behind the Song, this means reverting to ink quill and papyrus, which has its charms. I would describe the ambience as comfortable chic. The music is credible contemporary with the volume just about on the right side of unobtrusive. The coffee, an oat mocha, is consistently good quality. Sweet as the waitress’s smile, It’s aimed at the masses, which explains the popularity of the B&G. The coffee snob would take exception, but the B&G knows its clientele and has no coffee pretentions. B&G, your sweetness is my weakness ☕️☕️☕️☕️ out of 5!!

Recommended if you like smaller portions, we do so it suited us but some people prefer quantity over quality. The service varied, ever felt like you have to grab their attention whilst the loud table next to you gets all the service, we did. Went in around 3pm on a Monday afternoon. Not a single other diner. Ordered a roll (25% more expensive to eat in) and went to use the facilities whilst they made my drink. When I returned and tried to take my laptop out, I was told there were only 2 seats I could use my laptop in (out of the 20+ currently empty seats in the venue), one of which now had the only other patron sat in. So my choice was to awkwardly sit in the window next to this poor stranger, or wolf down my inflated sandwich and go and find a friendlier establishment to spend the rest of my money in. I chose the latter, and won’t be back again.

Walked-in not having read reviews/any expectations. Came for breakfast and had no issues being seated and served. Polite, friendly, welcoming. Food and coffee excellent. My gripe…music volume on high (-1*). As it’s a very popular place anyway including young children, the noise was a bit much on a Saturday morning. Also (-1*) for the smoothie. Was a glass full of ice with a splash of smoothie. Not good value. Maybe subjective, but in my experience, that’s a juice … vs a smoothie where the ice is blended.

Standing in the rain for a few moments behind the sign where it states all should wait I pondered “ This reminds me of a song “ Standing in the rain I tried a few times to get attention of the three staff stood chatting. I was spotted and ushered in with a very serious nearly rude look from a chap who looked as amazed as I was to be stood out in the rain waiting to go in behind the sign that says wait behind the sign ! It’s a bit like a comedy sketch show really. There was nobody really in the except a group of 6 mothers and babies and then another couple and a very young baby that was very cute on the first trip out for coffee I think. More like a mother and baby group than a cafe I ordered a coffee which was very good and got a free bottle of tap water and a glass. I made my way through the mothers and babies that were now up and chatting in the doorway to pay and made my way to leave. Walking past the ridiculous “wait here sign” having just read the rules about no laptops, no waiting inside, groups of young babies and parents and the general feeling I was being naughty I l went to find somewhere more welcoming and relaxing.

I often frequent this cafe, but will think twice now. There have been some slips such as sitting me next to the loud, ugly kitchen portal when half of the seats are free or that a decent amount of my scrambled eggs were raw, but I usually let it go. Then as luck would have it a local businessman started telling me about his mate who owns Baker & Graze and that all the reviews he gets are dreadful because he is just a bad egg. Well, today I went to the cafe and learnt why. I ordered a pot of loose leaf tea, which was not loose leaf (no big deal) but when I asked for another bag they charged me, not ideal, but not a problem. Then I sat upstairs and it was almost completely empty, but when the waitress brought my tea up she said I had to move because the owner does not like people having laptops in here. It was half-empty! Even so, I had ordered, let it slide and went downstairs. I understand if an owner doesn't want people filling his cafe on their laptops, but I can't help but think would I have been moved if I was on my phone checking emails - it wouldn't have even been noticed. What if I was an 80yo woman, sat alone reading - I'd be taking up the same amount of space and likely racking up a higher bill. I wouldn't have been moved. Have not experienced one other cafe with this policy across Cheltenham or London. On the way down I told two waitresses of my encounter with the local businessman and his thoughts on the owner and they very sheepishly responded with yeah that sounds about right.

We were welcomed in by friendly staff. Due to hearing issues and loud music, we requested a table upstairs which was no problem for the staff. The service was quick and friendly. However, when trying to order a vegan breakfast, I requested avocado on toast with hash browns on the side. I was told they didn't do hash browns on the side despite their website stating they were happy to make adjustments. I was disappointed but went with avocado on toast. When it arrived, it had 2 poached eggs on the side - obviously not requested as I am vegan. Disappointed again. On the positive side my husband had ordered a vegan breakfast (mushroom replacing the egg? but no hash browns?). The rye bread was not vegan and he was advised of this and offered an alternative - that was fab. All in all, although a lovely place, it does not really offer vegans much of a choice.

Had a very pleasant brunch which was totally ruined by the shocking attitude of the Manager. The bill came to £35 and I wanted to leave a tip. The digital tip device was set for a standard £2 tip. I wanted to leave more and intended to leave £4. Somehow, possibly due to my error, I was débited £8. I brought this to the attention of the Manager and his instant réaction was that it was my fault and my problem! I explained that I was happy to leave a £4 tip, but asked if he could simply refund the £4 that I had been over-charged and he flatly refused to do this. I explained that I found his response lacking any notion of customer service and he told me to "get out". I have been coming to this cafe since 2016. The previous Manager was always charming, efficent and friendly. She created a warm and welcoming atmosphère, which has been destroyed by this man, which is such a pity.

This is the second time I’ve eaten brunch here and been disappointed. The shakshuka was a swamp of tomato sauce - like a bowl of ketchup with added peppers and onions. Inedible with a knife and fork and I couldn’t eat it. When the owner came to clear the plates he didn’t ask why my plate was still full. So I told him and he clearly didn’t like it or care at all - my fault for not liking it because ‘they always serve it like that’. What arrogance in a customer facing business, bad food bad attitude. If you aren’t interested in customer feedback don’t run a customer facing business.

Compelled to write this review because the menu does not make it clear what contains nuts or other allergens. Ordered a dish that came with nuts and when I suggested adding some indication on the menu, the member of staff told me it's my responsibility to inform them of allergies and intolerances. True. But I would have thought they'd be open to changing the menu to be more clear; a no brainer. So I left feeling like it's my fault and that they don't really care for the situation. Other comments: To improve: Very slow service Often forget requests e.g. sauces/sugar Maybe they don't have enough staff for how popular they are... The good: Food is tasty Good portion sizes

Went today, 8th July. Put in an order for beverages and food. When beverages arrived, order incorrect despite having fully explained to server. I asked for earl grey tea, brought breakfast tea, asked for teabag to be on the side and not in the teapot, put in teapot! Supervisor came over as she saw us discussing this anomaly and eventually got the order correct. had to ask for sugar, only brown sugar arrived, 3 sachets for two drinks. Ordered yoghurt and granola, far too much granola. My wife had to ask for the rest of her order with the women on the till and explained all the inconsistencies. Frankly the reply was 'we try to get it right'. This has not been the first time or second time of similar problems. To sum up, the staff need to listen to what is asked of them and correctly write down and understand the order and not have answer from the supervisor that we have new staff, they don't and do I care, not my problem. We will not be returning. It's seems a constant battle to have 'service' that is correct.

I popped in to takeaway some baked goods and was served by presumably the owner. Wish I had read the previous reviews about him first! I was perfectly cordial while asking for what I wanted to buy and I then asked for a paper bag with a handle. I explained to him that this was because I would need to carry the goods for some distance. You would think I said something unforgivable. His demeanour went from passive to really annoyed in 2 seconds flat. He shoved the baked goods into the paper bag with force, face like thunder. I was shocked at this unwarranted rudeness and now begrudge giving this man any of my money. If the owner is reading this, you need to go on a customer service course, as that behaviour is unacceptable!

I visited Baker and Graze yesterday and was thrilled to find they sold sourdough bread. The bread was all bagged up, none on display, so I asked the young girl if I could see an example. She showed me the bread wrapped up! I told her I wanted to see the actual bread inside. She looked visibly annoyed at this. I asked whether it was white sourdough and she said "yes, they're all the same". I've just cut into the loaf at home and it's certainly not white. It has quite a strong flavour to it, which I've experienced before in similar coloured loaves. So I cannot eat it!! Not happy at all. It was a beautifully made loaf, but white is what I asked for and white it isn't. See pic ( slice against white plate to show the contrast in colour)

Absolute arrogance and insolence - waited for 40 mins for coffees despite other customers having sat down and been served and then finished in that time even though they came in after us. We ordered brunch and after 50 mins got up and left without having eaten. We enquired and complained 3 times in that time and nothing was forthcoming except to say they were very busy (despite the fact others had eaten and left). On going to pay for the 2 coffees we had and cancel the food they said they wouldn’t charge us for anything. This cafe prioritises walk-in takeaway orders over sit down customers and is chaotic and arrogant in its service. Sadly it does not realise that some customers have given up an hour of their parking time and their lunchtime over what was hoped to be a lovely weekend away to leave angry, hungry and having to go and start again somewhere else. What a waste of precious time spent in Cheltenham. The worst impression.

On Wednesday (12/4), we came across your Cheltenham store and ordered a pastry (£4) to go. A member of staff directed my daughter to pay at the card machine on the counter, pointing at what she only realised soon after to be an almost identical electronic “tip jar”. There was no indication of the cost of the default tip, nor did the employee first suggest/confirm the tip, only nodding when my daughter raised this as an issue (expressing that she’d mistakenly tipped) as if this was a regular expected occurrence. She would have been more than happy to pay a little extra if she knew that she was paying a little extra. As we understand that the tip was only £2.05 (our purchase was definitely worth it) and there’s never a need to fuss over something that could be so easily resolved, we only ask that the tip jar be clearly labelled so it would not be overlooked by a quickly passing customer, and for the employee at the counter to inquire about a tip prior to payment. I am certain that even sans confusion, any customer would afford the due cost of an excellent pastry and good service, on purpose.

This used to be the place we’d go for brunch or pastries as a treat. Expensive but nice food. I’ve also always found the staff lovely. Today we went only to discover a drastic reduction in their portion sizes. I understand times are tough but...

Decided to finally leave a review after continued bad service. Often ignored (once asked to wait outside in pouring rain even though there was clearly space to stand inside) I often end up leaving before I get the chance to even order. Today people entering...

Was thinking about a pick me up treat for my dad. The cakes in the window meant I couldn’t walk past. Nice welcome and delicious lamington (don’t see that often) and carrot cake!

Don't go in for coffee, breakfast and get your laptop out. You'll be rudely told to leave!!

Never experienced such rude service in my life. The manager turned my 70 year old dad away for no reason other than we had booked a table and turned up for it but the manager said they didn’t take bookings so leave and don’t come back. We were polite throughout - he was unreasonable and incredibly rude. Shocking behaviour and a shame as we used to like this cafe and its food. Would never come back and have told everyone we know not to either.

Came here for a celebratory brunch. The music was very loud and I nearly left but I was excited by the menu so stayed. Unfortunately I was let down. The dish looked good, but the sweet potato rosti with spiced tomato side was bland (not...

Always great food, cakes and coffee is probably the best in Cheltenham. Often meet friends here but can find it difficult at times to have a conversation due to the background music. Annoyingly it's always on and usually at a loud volume. Would be so...

I’ve been to this place before and I like it, but about 2 days ago I’ve been there and it meh! It was the 3 of us and paid almost 50 pounds for 5 egg (my poached eggs were grossingly under cooked, when I touched my egg the egg white just burst all over my plate), toast was rock hard, and really there not a single special touch to any of our orders, it was just basic, and unfortunately below basic this time. I usually love their pastries always really nice, hence the 2 stars, but breakfast is overpriced and really needs lots of improvement if you want to still go with these prices.

The food is overpriced and not that good. A rip off for sure😭. Chicken meat was burnt and burger was tiny. The batter for the fish was burnt and too oily. The taste was not great.

We were very excited to go to the outdoor inn, being a fresh bar to Cheltenham. Unfortunately, as much as the staff seemed friendly.. the managers or owners (not sure) were not… they were rude to people (all be it customers who had had too many drinks!) and seemed arrogant. Drinks prices are okay for Cheltenham, but we feel a little like we wasted a couple of hours going here, where we could have gone elsewhere and quite frankly received better customer service. I wish them well, but I will not be going again and would advise pekoe to only go if they can bank on nice weather, and at a last resort!
