The staff were friendly, but seemed a bit unsure. We ordered two iced teas, but they were bland and watery, with no flavour (didn't even taste of tea). When we mentioned it to the staff, they just said it was "homemade," as if that explained it. They added syrup, but it didn’t help. We also ordered crepes—one had a hair inside, and the other was dry and chewy. The ice cream was good, and the Victoria sponge cake had a nice taste, though it seemed undercooked in the center. Asked for water for the table and the glasses arrived with fingerprints, and food smears- just nothing felt clean.

Have had previously good brunches here but this time was really grubby, both tables and toilets. Drinks took a while to arrive. Toastie was so hard it was almost inedible, with barely any filling. Had to ask for cutlery. No salt and pepper on tables either. No staff bothered with us at all really.

Recently moved to Cheltenham and came here for lunch with a friend. No music in the restaurant so oppressively quiet when not very full. Service was brusque, with nothing said when delivering meals to the table and no checking-in from staff beyond informing us there were no juices/yoghurt/ice available. Poké bowl was very lacklustre, with poorly cooked salmon surrounded by limp salad - not what we had in mind. Overall, very disappointed by this experience, especially given the price and the generally excellent standard of other nearby restaurants.

A very disappointing breakfast visit, I was expecting a better experience after reading reviews and passing many times however it was very poor. The young staff seemed to be doing the best they could but I feel they need more training. Upon arrival our table needed wiping , and the place was cold inside. I ordered breakfast and coffee and the coffee cup was very small (I wasn't offered sizing while ordering) and the coffee was not that hot. The glass for the apple juice already had half cm of water in it which I emptied out and the glass was rather smeared. The bacon was not cooked properly Raw on the end, about 20 beans in total , and the ciabatta toast was very hard for myself and my partner. The breakfast was cold. We had to ask for salt and pepper these are not on the table already. The ladies toilet are not clean. For a cafe in sutch a prominent place should be doing better , I work hard for my money and for the price you charge is terrible , I would have had a better breakfast in wetherspoons for sure at half of the price. The owner of this establishment needs to take a close look at what's going on , take some pride and do things properly.

We used to love sitting at the tables outside. However they are always filthy and without exception you will have to ask to get them cleared of whatever the previous customer has left. The coffee is pretty bad so tea is pretty much your only option. They rarely have the sausage rolls which are tasty. Once we ordered the Poke bowl which was so bad we had to send it back. Crying out for new management!

I’ve tried The Clementine Cafe twice now just in case my first average experience was a one off, or I chose the wrong things on the menu, but unfortunately I’ve left disappointed on both occasions. Fundamentally the food quality is really poor for the price you pay. I don’t mind paying £10+ for a cheese and ham toastie - Knead Bakery, Elkstone and Boulangerie at Dunkertons do this very well, but Clementine’s misses the mark, the filling is bland and sparse, it was overcooked and the limp side salad swimming in sticky balsamic glaze did nothing to improve it at all. Our second dish was a fish finger sandwich, lovely fresh bread, but the fish was very poor and an over the top side salad again. The soups going out to tables looked wholesome and good so I did leave wondering if I should have ordered differently, but I don’t think I will be third time lucky. Juices and smoothies were OK, but at over £5, I really question value for money. The cutlery we had was dirty, between the fork prongs I could see leftover food and the whole place felt like it could do with a deep clean and a little TLC. We changed table twice to find one that was not broken/wobbly and the broken toilet door handles suggested further neglect. This cafe is always busy, clearly many do enjoy the food and the experience, so perhaps try for yourself.

I came here with my daughter for lunch. I ordered a cheese toastie and my daughter had poached eggs on toast - both with sour bread. Unfortunately my toastie was like biting into a breeze block - I had to give up and left most of it - my mouth is still sore. My daughter’s meal was pretty much the same but slightly softer because of the eggs. She just about managed to finish it but like me has a sore mouth. Clearly the sour bread was stale and the toasting dried it out too much. Both meals were served with some limp salad. I looked to complain to waiting staff whilst struggling to eat but there were none in site so was left to complain when paying. All I got was ‘sorry about that’ but no reduction for the cost of the building materials from the bill. We won’t be back!

Food was decent, we had the Turkish eggs and chicken and avocado bagel, which was slightly underwhelming as it was just some boiled chicken (no spices nothing) with avocado, can’t complain really as that’s what it said on the tin, but I expected slightly more for £10. The drinks were beautiful, lots of syrup and alternative milk options, and the strawberry smoothie was yummy too! The attentiveness of the staff was questionable, which didn’t put as off as we just walked over to them instead - but I guess in an ideal world it shouldn’t be that way, we didn’t mind though so wasn’t a massive issue. Overall lovely place, will definitely be back for drinks!

Very poor experience. No service and food disappointing. There were 3 waitresses and the owner there for what looked like around 15 covers - should have been excellent service! If you want to support local cafes go to the Urban Meadow or Woodcraft! Waited around 15 minutes just for our drinks to arrive. Food finally arrived another 20 minutes afterwards. Waitress put it down and walked away - I presumed she'd gone to get cutlery since there was none on our table... Then noticed all the waitresses stood by the cutlery stand chatting and drying the cutlery for around 5 minutes (meanwhile our food was going cold)... She then gave cutlery to another table so I had to beckon her over to ask for more. Ordered the chicken and avocado bagel and couldn't even cut through the chicken it was so tough (must have been in the fridge for a while) so had to send it back. Didn't end up eating. Also - savoury crepes are on the menu outside which drew us in, yet told when seated they're only served after 3pm (can't understand the logic there - not a complex dish!)

The one large was clearly tiny but the first member of staff said it was large. Ten minutes later we enquired about the cakes which were eventually brought, coffee cold by then, but new waitress admitted it was a small cup of coffee not the large ordered. As there was enough banging and crashing to drown out any conversation it felt like having coffee in a car body repair shop. They did have an attractive long table down stairs but that really did not make up for the charming but inexcusable shoddy service and dreadful ambiance.

After that it went down hill. we were just left, no-one came to check on us. We tried to catch waiters attention a few times to order coffees and cakes but no luck. One of our party went to check the cake options, no vegan options which I thought to be strange as they are meant to cater for vegans, so that was disappointing. A waiter then came to clear the table opposite so manage to get them to take our drinks order. The drinks and cakes didn't go down as well as the breakfast unfortunately. Dry and bland. I ordered the spiced apple, which was just hot apple juice considering it was £3.50 I expected more. We learnt from the last time and asked for the bill when the drinks came. The waitress brought down the bill with the card machine, we went to get our card to pay and she walked away! No idea why, so we then had to go up to pay. Wouldn't return, very poor service, shame as the breakfast was quite nice but doesn't make up for the rest which just isn't up to scratch.

Another enjoyable experience at The Hewletts. Mixed up my booking times due to clocks going back but helpful staff soon sorted a nice table for us. Had a delicious Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Nice variety of vegetables with the tender beef. Good as it gets. Well done. Will definitely be back.
