Had a pizza for lunch. Now £12.95. Thinner than before and missing the cherry tomatoes that they used to have on top. Really bad value for money. Limited choice on pizza menu now. i asked the chef about it. he said a new menu, new prices. I said last time we have a pizza then! Now £17 for a roast dinner there as well Cheaper at Polhill, Badgers Mount.

Out of our party of 4 adults, none of us could see what the fuss is about. We each had a sandwich (hot filled bread) which included some chips on the side. The sandwich was almost burnt and although it was said to contain bacon, turkey and cheese, you wouldn't know it. The bacon was quite adequate but the two very thin slices of compressed roll turkey were almost invisible. I didn't find the cheese. The crusts were inedible and all agreed it was very poor for what was £11 per serving. The cold drinks are the most expensive brands so expect a bill in excess of £55-60 for four. The local garage has far better sandwiches for far less.

Go to this restaurant 3/4 times a year. They have a great selection of food and fresh cakes & coffee. All good is fresh and the roast is good too and a good size. Pricing slightly on the high side but food is good.

Finally given up on ordering pizzas from here for lunch. Last time we ordered one and it was totally forgotten about despite the order slip being on the pizza deck. Today told oven not very hot so waited. Saw a man buy one and went and ordered two. 1.30pm waited til 1.50 and went to see where they were as busy needed to go. Looked like a young man had made them and cooked them despite earlier seeing an older man making the other one. As per usual forgotten or more like the other bloke does not want to do them? Fed up with this cafe, costs enough in there. Been going there for few years so spent a bit there. Rubbish kitchen staff who slope off and don't do their jobs? I have a tip for everyone - go to Polhill Badgers mount, much better menu and cheaper as well!

Stopped to check out and purchase some plants, amazed at the quality of the plants on offer, not the cheapest but probably at least two years old and well established. Oh and it was mandatory to check out the restaurant which was amazing, service was great and the cheese scone I had was easily the best I have ever tasted and I have tasted quite a few, special mention for Theresa on the catering team who was so jolly and insisted on taking a family photo for us, she made our visit a real pleasure and is to be commended.

Partook of the Haskins afternoon tea today and whilst the cakes were plentiful, the sandwiches left something to be desired. There were four fingers of tuna on sliced granary bread and four of egg on white sliced bread. My husband doesn't like tuna so he had the egg and I had the fish. Very mundane. There was no choice offered and whilst I was asked at the time of booking if we had any allergies, I did think that there would be a choice on the plate. On the plus side, there were two fruit scones each with cream and jam and four pieces of cake each. These consisted of a flapjack type cake, a piece of chocolate orange tart, a piece of cheesecake and a choux bun. The chocolate tart and the cheesecake were pieces of a standard mini tart cut into a small piece each but nevertheless, there was plenty of sweet things. Tea was served in a nice china cup and there is a small area of the restaurant set aside for afternoon teas and they try and make it special by laying the table, complete with paper cloth. Overall, I would say that this was a nice treat but the sandwich situation badly let the experience down. The restaurant has some delicious cakes and we will visit the cafe again, just not for afternoon tea. Haskins is beautifully laid out with an abundance of healthy looking plants and an extensive range of gift ware. Most of this can be bought elsewhere much cheaper. The solar lights I bought at another garden centre for £14.99 two days ago were £24.99 at Haskins. Nevertheless, a lovely shop to browse around, just keep an eye on the prices.

Usually I can't fault Haskins but unfortunately my daughter (4 y/o) was sick at the entrance of the restaurant. I informed a member of staff and apologised, and was shocked when told I would need to clean it up myself. She then proceeded to bring me some cleaning supplies and watched me clean the floor (whilst holding a bin bag open for me to dispose of the mess). I'm really not impressed and am still in utter disbelief at what happened.

This is the worst coffee I've ever tasted. I need decaff as it doesn't agree with my endocrine system. I stopped of at Snowhill / Haskins garden centre and I watched the barista poured half the coffee down the drain as she said "we only give single shots to small coffees". I ended up with a cup of hot milk and when asked for coffee to be added I was asked to pay extra. I have a nespresso machine at home and it certainly delivers a better tasting coffee. Needless to say I will not be using your cafes in the future. Regards Nikki

We had a lovely lunch with friends at the garden centre today. All 4 of us were delighted with our meals, trying the fish and chips, lasagne and the newly launched salad which was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful and the outdoor eating area was very clean and welcoming (we especially loved the water feature). We finished up with coffee and mini brownies and a walk around the plants, altogether a very pleasant afternoon, we'll be back!

We had tea for two six finger sandwiches 3 tuna 3 egg, one person didn’t like egg hence we had 3 egg per person and the other 3 tuna not good Cakes were all alike mostly pieces of sponge; have to say for £18 per person in my opinion bit of a rip off;

The bread/toast is lovely, they have real butter and good jams and condiments. Their sausages are very good (I rarely eat sausages I’m very fussy), the bacon is ok. It’s a buffet breakfast, the choice is huge, the prices are reasonable. I didn’t have a cake, but they looked amazing!! They serve real costa coffee :-) But although the food is good, perhaps the best part is the clean, bright seating area with an enormous choice of tables and chair styles. You can sit inside by big windows looking out, or outside in the sun.

We had a lovely breakfast at haskins before we shopped around the centre for plants. Very pleasant and friendly staff and extremely clean restaurant. I've taken one star off because after we had enjoyed our breakfast I looked at my receipt and found I'd been over charged for one of the breakfasts but we'd eaten them so we'd got no proof to complain. The young lady at the till was chatting to other staff while she was serving so thats probably when the misrake was made. We've had breakfasts at this garden centre a few times and not had problems before today. Definitely worth checking your receipt before you eat your food.

Bigger CAN sometimes be better. There's a trend you see in cake shops and cafes right now, to just supersize portions, but with no thought for quality. What we've found at Haskins on three occasions (today - Sunday lunch; plus other visits for big breakfasts, and for coffee n' cakes) is that they really can do great quality along with the generous plates. Sunday lunch today easily up to the standard of Sussex foodie pubs, but came in at half the upmarket prices. Great vegetables (would be happy to just load the plate with the roast beetroot, the mixed roots, and super cauliflower cheese!). With the breakfast, sausages were delicious, not the kind of flaccid meatless things we've all had to leave on the plate at cheaper cafes. Cakes - yes, the visual appeal is greater than the flavour in some, but generally nice and satisfying. For me, the busy clientele of extended families, and lots of older people, points to visitors happy to look for value, and we think they're getting it here.

Our first visit to this lovely Garden Centre, and we called in for lunch; plenty of parking, all nicely laid out. The restaurant is amazing, with so much choice. I chose a toasted sandwich and my husband chose a panini, these proved to be very substantial, and came with chips and a small salad! Hot meals and carvery were also available. We had already chosen from the delicious range of cakes, so we had a very good lunch, had to leave some chips. Everything was delicious, my cream slice, a rare indulgence, was lovely, and my husband enjoyed his coffee twist. All of the staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly and we noticed that tables were cleared and cleaned quickly. On a Friday at 1 pm there were no queues and plenty of space to sit down. We liked the fact that tables were not crowded together and no background music, thank goodness! A very enjoyable experience, we will return. We enjoyed looking around the rest of the Garden Centre, with some nice plants for sale, although certainly not cheap. Well worth a visit.

Very sparse selection of cakes for a Saturday. Costas coffee counter not giving you china or glass cups now all takeaway cups - hope thats a one off? Not worth the money there now as it's all gone up. Carvery lunches £14.50 can get Tobys for £8.99 each, Hardly any staff in there, Are they not paying their bills now as a lot of stuff out of stock? Will think careful about going there in future. There's a garden centre around corner near petrol station that has a cafe, may try there when we are setting up at Ardingly Showground next month over 4 days. Been going there for years but it's all gone downhill now.

Having previously had an ok experience here with coffee and cake in the lovely looking café, we decided to take elderly relatives for lunch. We all went for the mushroom soup. We were all given a barely half filled bowl and one measly slice of bread. I noticed the loaf ends were being discarded, so i asked for one. The lady said ok. She said that it was a shame that if nobody asked for them she had to throw them all away. She then removed the slice I'd been given and gave me the end piece. I asked if i could have the piece off of the other end, and was told that I'd have to pay extra. When I said 'you've just told me they're all being thrown away'!, she said 'that's the rules, you're only allowed one piece'!

It all fell apart when looking at the prices - what a disappointment. We fully expected to come out with a trolley load but abandoned the empty trolly half way round and left empty handed. Whilst I expect that the very considerable investment needs to be recovered, the current pricing is simply uncompetitive and sends the wrong message to new clients like us. After a terrible experience last weekend which saw us along with many others queuing for 50mins for breakfast(we arrived at opening) we thought we would give them another chance this week but left a bit later to avoid the queue. Turns out they only serve breakfast for 1 hour. 10:30-11:30. We arrived at 11:15 with two newborn babies in tow, only to be told sorry we are closed!!!! We argued that food is served until 11:30. Their answer was by the time they would let us through it would be 11:30. So basically you have a 40min slot to get food. What a joke! Other staff members were stating that it was only 11:15 but the lady we spoke to was having none of it. Just seemed utterly ridiculous to Serve breakfast for only one hour and then cut this short and turn away a family with newborn babies. We won’t be visiting here again.

Today was the second visit, although it’s. all very nice, the service is slow and haphazard. The 8 breakfast items for 7.95 with toast, was value for money, however the queue for hot drinks meant that by the time we sat down the food was getting cold, the hot drinks service was slow and laborious. We went back to see if the service was any better but unfortunately not. They need to rethink the way the restaurant is set out as most people want hot food but you have to queue past artisan sandwiches, (extremely overpriced)Mainly it’s the hot drinks section that lets this down, They have a central till section for paying so why is there a till at the drinks section, surely that should just be for ordering. Will we return probably not.

I think either the portions are cut down due to the price, or the very young girl serving had no idea about the portion sizes. The lasagne tasted ok, but it was a very small serving taken out of a large dish. It came with salad which was a very small little gem lettuce leaf with a small amount of sliced lettuce balanced on top and miserly number of chips. My wife's lamb stew had no meat whatsoever - it was lamb gravy. I think all the meat must have been served out earlier in the day. The food was just warm not hot - we were in and out in under 10 minutes. The experience was more of a fast food snack rather than a meal.

Great environment however queued for an hour for Sunday breakfast. Standard of food was poor. Found plastic in Salad served with panini....... manager attempted to help however too little too late!! Children and adults very fretful with whole experience. Would not recommend this venue for food.

Visited three times in past week. Impressed by quality of finish, layout and variety of merchandise on offer. Prices of plants seem very competitive and better value for money. Impressed by Restaurant. Unlike earlier reviews we had no problems. You need to suss out the sequence in which to order and pay for food. Once you have done so should no be an issue.

Visited this gorgeous garden centre yesterday. All newly refurbished. Had breakfast with two friends, it was a bit of a shamble as you order food then go to the drinks counter to pay , food got a little cold . We had to wait for the omelette which was fine but had to keep getting up to check if it was ready or not as they hadn’t got the buzzers up and working. The staff were helpful and ended up bringing it to our table. I felt very sorry for the staff as they were not meant to be open until the 10th of March and it showed . I hope it’s teething problems as it all looks lovely .

Went here today to sample the lunch, the centre has had a great refit and makeover very spacious with the usual wonderful displays both of plants and indoor goods. We arrived at just before midday when the restaurant was beginning to fill up.There is certainly an extensive range of both hot and cold food available it was quite nice also that there was a separate area for ordering just drinks.

Despite their temporary accommodation, my cousin and I thought that the food and service at Snowhill was excellent. The mushroom soup was delicious! We are looking forward to the new, larger premises being opened next year. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Haskins, Snowhill is in the middle of a major rebuild. To keep a company footprint in the area and to keep staff employed, Haskins have built a temporary garden centre to bridge the gap in this interim period.

Delightful garden centre to visit whether purchasing plants and garden items or to spend some time. Lovely new cafe with a great selection of lunch or snack. Costa coffee tpos it off! Large selection of plants in wonderful displays. Wide variety of other merchandise including g women's clothing, as well as gifts. The day I visited they were starting to prepare Christmas displays. Having visited their previous venue at Christmas , this will not disappoint when completed. Well worth a visit! Brand new everything!

Visited the temporary cafe for a sandwich and cake while shopping at the garden centre. Both very good and nicely made. Good effort for a tent!

My wife and I are local and dropped in for a mid-morning breakfast for a change, I know whilst they are undergoing a rebuild that the cafe is temporary however that is not an excuse for nearly cold food and the hash browns must have been re-fried at least three times as they were so crispy. We have had coffee here on numerous occasions so no complaints there apart from the length of time you have to wait, one person on the coffee machine does not work even when there is a short queue. The cafe is going to be three times the size when the rebuild is complete so, Haskins, you need to get it right and make sure the food is hot when it gets to the table.

We live quite locally and as the Haskins Restaurant is one of the few places in the area that opens on Sundays, we are fairly frequent visitors. This was the first time we've been since the old building has been knocked down and everything has moved across into the temporary building and it was a relief to see that they haven't replicated the layout of the old restaurant (the ordering and paying area was poorly designed and there was often a bottleneck due to people waiting for their drinks). The self serve food cabinets and till are now in a straight line with plenty of space for people to wait.

Despite ongoing renovations we managed to buy some fantastic flowers and shrubs for the garden. We have been coming here for over 5 years and always find what we are looking for.

Having waited for 10 mins to order a cooked breakfast and coffee we were eventually given a number and told the breakfast would be brought to the table. All of the breakfast items i.e. sausage, bacon, black pudding etc even the toast were already prepared and in the heating tray on the counter. So just 1 fried egg to be cooked.

Came into to be told that they had stopped serving hot food at 2:30pm. Opted for scones with jam and cream and asked if they served de-caf. The service was not particularly friendly, I certainly wasn’t made to feel welcome. The scone looked lovely but was dry and hard. The cream was frozen in the middle (which caused me to look for the best before date on it but I couldn’t find it). Halfway through eating my scone, a gentleman asked me if my scone was hard, as he wanted to buy one but said that the last time he was there, the scone was like a brick.....I can only assume that this is a common occurrence. Would of spoken to the staff about it but due to the unfriendly welcome, I chose not to....shame really, looks like it could be a nice place to visit

I normally pop into Haskins to visit the arts-and-crafts shop and have a cuppa tea and some cake with my wife. However, I hear that the arts-and-crafts is going to shut down soon, so this makes Snow Hill less attractive to me now.

I was disapointed when eating here. When getting a 5 item breakfast - it appeared one of my friends was given an extra sausage. Me and another friend were not happy about this and felt hard done by. It was a shame as we were really hungry and it frustrated us.

Dropped into Haskins restaurant today and couldn’t resist the carvery that was on offer. Presentation was really good and it was fresh and plentiful . A young lady cut the turkey fresh from the joint and served up various seasonal vegetables. It was tasty and beautifully cooked, we would recommend a visit as it must be the best carvery for miles. We will certainly be going back.

When is someone going to get this restaurant properly organised? Visited yesterday, Saturday, for lunch. Not enough staff, tables not being cleared quickly enough and not being wiped - really sticky. Just one queue, therefore, if you just wanted a coffee, you had to queue with those wanting a lunch. Queue jumping, dreadful. One woman actually got her soups and walked out with them having not paid. When the food arrived, very good - don't use so much batter on the fish - too thick. About time the menu was changed. An opportunity is being missed with not offering the breakfast during the lunch period as well. My score is generous.

Haskins Restaurant sells sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, meals. this time I opted for a cheese & onion toastie and my friend had a prawn sandwich. Both were fine, but I had to wait too long for my toastie to arrive. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Note to self: next time, try the chips, that looked really good on other people's plates.

We called in to the garden centre which is lovely. Has a good range of plants, products and giftware. All well presented in nice surroundings. What a shame the cafe really lets it down. The wooden table tops are so old they have cup rings and are sticky...

Returned to this lovely garden centre and was warmly welcomed into the restaurant,it was early lunchtime but there was a good buzz of others enjoying their food. There is a seasonal menu and wanting a fairly light lunch we opted for the mezze platter to share. The service is first class our waitress very friendly,we ordered a beer and glass of red wine to accompany the dish. The drinks and food arrived speedily and it was delicious, colourful, and beautifully presented. Our waitress returned to check everything was ok which of course it was.We had coffee afterwards then left.We were acknowledged by all the staff working there who cheerfully said Goodbye. This is a venue not to be missed,I noticed the lunch menu, they also do breakfast and whilst there at the weekend they were serving a beautiful afternoon tea to a group of ladies…I look forward to a return visit soon…Yours Stuart…

Visited for the first time to see a play in the upstairs room. We couldn’t have had a better night. The welcome from the moment we walked was great. The play was brilliant and the publican even gave us a lift to the station so that we made our train We would definitely make the effort to go again , if we heard about more plays or events and more often if we lived nearer
